Looks like we need another new thread Blush- we've been rather busy!

Up to date (ish) Stats thread here:
www.mumsnet.com/Talk/antenatal_clubs/a1694946-September-2013-STATS-THREAD

As previously- Welcome newbies! If anyone wants to join the Facebook group (better for sharing documents and pictures- especially picture of gorgeous babies), please message myself or jennimoo with your real life name and email address and we can add you to the group!

Bring on the irritating texts from family members and best friends to find out whether you've had your babies or not (like you wouldn't tell them.....), more weird and disgusting labour symptoms, more internal examinations than you can shake a stick at, and LOTS OF BABIES!

MeanMrsMustard had a gorgeous girl, for whoever's doing the stats at the moment... haven't seen her on this thread though.

That makes me and SGJ the most overdue of those still posting now... MASSIVE GRUMP.

I am also having a grump today about where DS's early years funding is going at the moment. He isn't starting at school until the third week at term, so we are continuing to pay for him to be at privately run day nursery full time (8-5), but I think that September's bill from them doesn't include Early Years 15 hours per week, I suspect that the school has got the money by putting in their whole school roll as if everyone was there for the whole term.

Readytosettle · 02/09/2013 14:45

Hate to break it to u rake but SGJ has done the deed! Lovely baby girl...pic on fb.

RakeABedOfTyneFilth · 02/09/2013 14:56

Oh, I've just seen that. I guess I'm a "ten month mama" type. Although I have had some mucus this morning - completely white, but it's the first mucus in a while.

dakomponist · 02/09/2013 14:56

I'm not usually one to complain, but Boy, am I bored! Maternity leave started a week or so ago and I've now run out of things to do. Reading and TV just about all I can think of.

Not got the energy or need to do any cleaning either - plus bump is descending again which can cause rather sharp hip pains so I'd rather stay sitting for the meantime.

DP back at work today so just me knocking around the house. We moved back to Birmingham 3 weeks ago (stressfu,l but fine) from London and I don't have many friends here as yet. I hope that will change once baby is born.

Lovely to be reading of everyone's arrivals here and on fb though.

Laquila · 02/09/2013 15:02

dakomponist could you do some batch cooking or baking for the freezer to alleviate the boredom? I felt so smug afterwards! This is my fifth week of mat leave (40+4) and I'm starting to feel I've exhausted my options...have crafted, baked, cooked, read, bathed, walked, shopped, hoovered (intermittently...) and done a lot of crosswords. The worst bit is not being ale to sleep at night, so I'm starting to go to bed later and later which probably isn't good for me. Hey ho - you just do what you can, don't you?!

badguider · 02/09/2013 15:07

Aaaaaaarrrrggghhhhhhh

All discharges are held up as there's a big queue for docs to write painkiller prescriptions. But I'm not on any painkillers or in any pain. Don't want any meds. Just want to go home!!!

TripleRock · 02/09/2013 15:35

Thanks for sharing your birth info Badguider Thanks

Sorry you're stuck in... Would you not be seen by a MW tomorrow at home anyway?

badguider · 02/09/2013 15:55

I think that without discharge paperwork the MW visit tomorrow wouldn't be triggered and/or she wouldn't have full notes.
Just have to keep being patient.... Am being very insistently polite :)

Peregrin · 02/09/2013 16:13

Babies, babies everywhere!

My child is still resolutely in breech despite my repeated attempts to reason with him. Looks like I've got a headstrong one on my hands... the boy is not yet born and I am feeling like a parental failure already!

On a different note, did everyone prepare gifts for their ob-gyn/midwife team? I have a vague feeling I should do so, and can't think of anything but boxes of chocolate.

amiready · 02/09/2013 17:20

Peregrin - I'd say hospital staff love chocs - or anything they can nibble on when their waiting to have a break - it keeps them going!

Badguider - was just wondering what you meant when you said you wasted a night resisting the contractions? Do you mean the position you were in? Just thinking what's best to do when they start up...

Well I am 39 weeks today, but still running around like a headless chicken with loads to do! Aghh! At least change bag arrived in post today so I can pack for the labour! Wonder if I'm the most disorganised....although half my NCT group seem to be moving house on their due dates so I must be more sorted than them!

TripleRock · 02/09/2013 17:44

I feel quite rubbish now, but it would never have occurred to me to pack gifts for the ward MWs...Blush

jennimoo · 02/09/2013 17:54

I didn't take gifts. If I felt someone went above and beyond I might send something in afterwards though.

HettySunshine · 02/09/2013 18:00

We've packed a couple of packets of nice biscuits for the midwives. I think that'll do for them!

Readytosettle · 02/09/2013 18:15

dakomponist have you looked up ur local children's centre? A lot of places seem to offer a 'bumps & babes' club that u can start going to pre-baby & might help u meet sum people...

I'm only on mat leave part-time but between my existing friends, mumsnet & Nct I have activities planned with fellow preggo's/new mums for every day that I've had off so far & have planned in the next 2 weeks! When I do eventually get a free day I plan to swim & to bake something.

Readytosettle · 02/09/2013 18:35

Oh & if I have loads of time on my hands then I've going to create photo books for our last 2 holidays....

If I go 2 weeks overdue then I may even get round to creating the photo book of my round the world trip...only been on the to do list for the last 7 years or so!

SGJ · 02/09/2013 19:57

I'm so sorry, Rake! We were supposed to be over due delivery buddies! If its any consolation, I started getting clear mucus appearing on Friday night and had delivered by this morning, so the end could be in sight!

I shocked myself by having a (completely unplanned) water birth - after arriving at hospital at 4am, by 6.30am I was so shattered from no sleep for 2 nights that I decided to forgoe a quick labour (was having the start of pushing contractions, prob was about 8-9cm) and just lay down on the bed and slept for an hour! Cxs stopped altogether! Then on shift change the new midwife suggested getting in the water and I thought why not, that'll keep them at bay for a bit longer...HA HA HA, in the water at 8am, baby by 8.50am. No gas & air, even flubbed out the placenta without an injection! Teeny weeny cord again though, so did about 5 mins max of skin to skin before chopping.
And, to end this essay, we even let a male paramedic in to watch the whole thing as it was his training rotation - first birth he'd ever seen!! (He sensibly left when I had stitches though!)
Anyway, birth story over, now sending contract-y vibes to Rake and anyone else still waiting xx

SGJ · 02/09/2013 19:59

Oh and I packed presents, got 2 lots of a vase, small packets of Thorntons and some Love Hearts (cheesy, I know). Last time DH went out and panic bought loads from Waitrose so I planned ahead this time!

mrspaddy · 02/09/2013 20:11

For the midwives I bought a gift box and have four pretty mugs, a tub of Milicano coffee and Bewleys hot chocolate. Then I filled the rest with museli bars etc. I have to say, my midwives have been exceptionally nice.

I might be allowed to have a sweep this week a few days before I am 40 weeks. Baby is very big.. are any of you going to go for one?

I have been off since the start of the school holidays.. first time in my life having as much time off as I have had. Had to get over the guilt stage a while ago.

kipsonline · 02/09/2013 21:15

Ha ha ready I've had the same 'round the world trip photobook ' item on my to do list for 13 years now... With 3 DS now I'm thinking I might just need to cross it off the list for good and move on ;)

WaggyBlueElf · 02/09/2013 21:19

I'm still here Rake! 40+5 and absolutely no sign of anything happening soon. Had curry for the last three nights, lots of raspberry leaf tea, pineapple juice, long dog walks, plenty of ball bouncing and even dtd for the first time in ages...and nowt. What more do I have to do?!

Huge congratulations to everyone who's had their babies, looking forward to joining you soon!

fl0b0t · 02/09/2013 21:21

My midwife tried to convince me not to have a sweep when I her for my 39wk appt next week. I'm not bothered either way but she says that everything is on track so no point intervening until I'm well over 40wks but she is sure I won't get that far without baby arriving naturally (how to build up my hopes! )

I'm blooming shattered after s nice picnic with friends this afternoon. .... didn't realise how long it would go on for and someone else drove so I was a bit at their mercy and didn't want to be a pain! In bed now and been for a while :-)

Joskar · 02/09/2013 21:38

Sweep a week Wednesday. A compromise as the MWs are not keen to let me go over because of my immobility and I'm not keen chemical induction. My bump is measuring at 35 weeks even though I'm almost 39 weeks. D'ye reckon that means I'll be miles overdue or will the sweep sort it out?

I have absolutely zero guilt at being off and am happily filling my time. The rest of my life (mostly) will be running around after other people so I'm happily being selfish while I can.

SGJ can't believe you did that without g&a! I reckon there must be a medal (made of chocolate?) for you somewhere!

amiready I still haven't packed either. Good to know it's not just me!

CheeseStrawCraving · 02/09/2013 23:03

Right I'm keeping my fingers crossed you overdue ladies pop tomorrow -it's also my birthday and the weather is great for a BBQ every year on 3rd Sept so a great day to be born Grin

badguider · 03/09/2013 01:59

amiready - at 2.5cm I was a bit weirded by the contractions being in my back and bum and hips and I sort of tensed and gritted my teeth through them rather than consciously breathing them through and trying to relax / open. I was still 2.5cm 6hrs later.
After I got the breathing I felt everything open and plug come out etc.

LotsaTuddles · 03/09/2013 02:23

Is anyone up? This is really TMI sorry

I was just laying in bed with quite bad pains. Felt something kind of just go (really hard to explain) so quickly went to toilet and something "fell" out of me (into the toilet, so couldn't get a decent look) it was a greeny/brown colour.

Does anyone know what this could be/ if I need to ring hospital?

I'm now sitting on the toilet, scared to move and in quite a bit of pain. Most of it is quite low down but it is in waves.

Help!!
