Looks like we need another new thread Blush- we've been rather busy!

Up to date (ish) Stats thread here:
www.mumsnet.com/Talk/antenatal_clubs/a1694946-September-2013-STATS-THREAD

As previously- Welcome newbies! If anyone wants to join the Facebook group (better for sharing documents and pictures- especially picture of gorgeous babies), please message myself or jennimoo with your real life name and email address and we can add you to the group!

Bring on the irritating texts from family members and best friends to find out whether you've had your babies or not (like you wouldn't tell them.....), more weird and disgusting labour symptoms, more internal examinations than you can shake a stick at, and LOTS OF BABIES!

Beautiful baby boy born last night at 39+2. We're in Scotland so no issues at all with the August birthday.

Labour started after a nice relaxing neck and shoulder massage. Wasted a whole night at 2.5cm by "resisting" the contractions rather than going with them. When I finally figured out what I was doing got to 7cm at home with tens before going into the MLU for a water birth which almost worked out but had to be finished off "on land" for the last three pushes due to meconium.

He's well and I'm feeling both very well and very grateful for such an uncomplicated birth.

Good luck to whoever is next!

CheeseStrawCraving · 01/09/2013 15:20

Thanks ladies, I wasn't sure if I had the wrong washing powder or something. Will just bath him and leave him then. Phew and I thought it was stressful worrying about pregnancy!

CheeseStrawCraving · 01/09/2013 15:21

Fabulous news badguider, so pleased for you. Let the fun begin! Flowers

kipsonline · 01/09/2013 15:33

Wonderful news badguider well done!
All 3 of mine started flaking soon after birth cheese, mw said to just let it happen, perfectly normal. Aveeno is good if you need anything longer term though, lots of friends with dry skinned children swear by it

CheeseStrawCraving · 01/09/2013 16:13

Thanks kips. My sister suffered really badly with eczema (sp?) when she was a baby so thought it might be that. Very pleased to know he's all ok though!

Manoodledo · 01/09/2013 18:06

Congrats Badguider! Sounds like a good birth.

I'm finally having that curry tonight. I've gone off the boil, it just feels like it's never going to happen... Been getting lots of stabby nerve-type pains. Ow ow ow! Can't believe I could still have another couple of weeks as I only hit my due date tomorrow.

ION my mum came round yesterday just to drop off three different cakes she'd made for the freezer to give my baby visitors. Yay!

frogchops · 01/09/2013 18:21

I'm hoping baby visitors bring me cake....not the other way around!! Grin

Kittenkatzen · 01/09/2013 18:21

rake sorry but your in laws sound equal parts annoying and bonkersly funny from the outside. Obviously just annoying for you though. I totally dare you not to tell them for a full 24 hrs after the baby arrives...Grin

Had 38wk midwife appt this morning, all looking good, baby still head down but only the tiniest bit engaged. Next check up not until 2 days after EDD - eeek! Mw said she'll do a sweep if I want next time...I had to explain what that was to DH after came out - his face was a picture haha Grin

badguider huge congrats, sounds like a lovely birth experience for you!

RakeABedOfTyneFilth · 01/09/2013 18:45

We're having another Spicery curry tonight - Achari Murgh, which is a chicken curry made with mustardy spices, and a plum chutney which is apparently where the kick is...! Neighbours coming round to help us with it (always big quantities). DH is in favour of labour starting when the boy goes into nursery in the morning, I think it's more likely at night time. To be honest I'll take any time, I am just so tired carrying this great big lump around. DS was 9lb 5oz, so I am quite likely to drop another the same sort of size, and it just feels like it is getting bigger and stronger all the time. There was a serious modern dance explosion in there last night when I tried to settle down to sleep - I put DH's hand there (tried out the Hand Of Authority concept!) but even he thought it felt violent from the outside.

Been out today swimming and a supermarket sweep for the curry constituents just at the end of the day - some excellent MN-worthy behaviour observed at checkouts... I usually escape it these days with the self scan thingy but they shut it down an hour before Sunday closing it seems. Had a nap and still feel tired. Early night coming up.

Cngratulations badguider! I was so envious when you and your namesake both said you had kicked off yesterday morning. Glad that little boy is here safely, and didn't take too long either.

SGJ · 01/09/2013 20:31

Made massive duck roast dinner; contractions come back again. Bloody typical! At least I'll be getting value for money from the tens machine...

fl0b0t · 01/09/2013 21:22

Ysy badguider :)

Also think that clothes with ears are the actual best. My sister is obsessed with pandas so I May mention the panda onesies..... rake in laws are mental, is the law. Yours maybe more so than usual. .... On that note though, mil clearly does some where and somehow 'get'me as she isknitting a snowsuit with bear ears
:)

In other news, my uterus does like a Sunday. This is now two in a row with horrific bh painful contractions right at the top of the bump. Like awful indigestion pains. Mw said they were bh. Almost identical to last Sunday so paracetamol and hot bath right now. OUCH!

had a lovely baby shower slash general party yesterday which was lovely to see friends and we also received some very cute and unexpected pressies plus my sister donated leftover wedding laurant perrier! Bonus!

Struggling to type today! Sorry!

OP posts:
Kittenkatzen · 01/09/2013 21:48

"Leftover Laurent Perrier" are 3 words that would never be put together in my world......GrinGrin

fl0b0t · 01/09/2013 21:53

Mine neither. ... pre pregnancy! I thoroughly enjoyed a sip of about 6 glasses. ... was one of those parties where I put down and lost my glass every 30 mins!

Ps feeling a bit grumpy as one of my friends seems to be annoyed at me for not inviting her to the baby shower. She lives 200 miles away, I saw her 3 weeks ago and she got back from her honeymoon this week. I assumed she wouldn't be able to make it plus people are rubbish about replying on Facebook so we had no idea how many people were invading! Eek :(

LotsaTuddles · 02/09/2013 07:42

I want one of those bear suit things too but can't find one yet, so we're going to wait until the babies born as we'll know what size to get too.

We're in the process of buying a house too, didn't tell mortgage people that I'm pg either and as we got mortgage months ago, I was still working and we hadn't been buying things yet so was all ok.

Trip to Wales didn't bring baby on Sad but been getting more and more painful twinges, so hopefully won't be too long till baby arrives

TripleRock · 02/09/2013 08:28

Lotsa, our overnight trip to the South Coast to stay in a caravan didn't show any signs of shifting this lump either... Feel disapointed and relieved in equal measure.

DD adorably called the caravan the 'cafe' all the time we were there :)

38+1

TripleRock · 02/09/2013 09:20

Big congratulations Badguider.

What an achievement to get to 7cm at home!

Hope you don't mind me being nosy. Did your waters go in the birthing pool; is that when they realised there was meconium? Were you asked to leave the pool straightaway?

Sorry for the questions, don't answer if you'd rather not. It's just I had meconium last time (although discovered on artficial membranes rupture) and hoping for a water birth this time.

RakeABedOfTyneFilth · 02/09/2013 09:43

Triple, I had meconium in my waters with DS four years ago which broke when I was labouring in a MLU pool. He came at 42 weeks and the MW judged that in the absence of any other signs of distress, this was just a sign that he was a bit overcooked. So she said carry on labouring in the pool, I was also out on dry land for the last few pushes, and when they checked him out he had no breathing problems at all so her judgement had been spot on. There's a page on the 'home birthers and hopefuls' web page about what to ask if you're given "uh-oh, meconium, all bets are off" as a reason to move you out of the labouring position you've been progressing in. here it is - is it old, fresh, thick, grade 1/2/3...

Fozziebearmum2be · 02/09/2013 09:46

Speaking of dressing in bear outfits, work bought me a massive bag of goodies which included this...

Soooo cute! Smile

First real day of mat leave today and know I should try and rest a
bit as utterly shattered, but hard when dh is out at work, I stupidly feel like I should be doing something productive although he keeps telling me to stop doing jobs and do something I like doing....my cleaning is out of control.

Hope I manage to slow down a bit before lo is here, feels so odd not to be working....

fl0b0t · 02/09/2013 10:01

fozzie enjoy maternity leave however you want! People keep saying I'm doing to much but I'm really trying to enjoy myself in my own way. I find I'm spending about half my time relaxing and half my time being productive. My husband tells me that as Long as I keep growing baby and keeping it safe, he is happy! Is morning I had a long shower, lots of fruit for breakfast and I'm catching up on some telly.vthen I'm going to wash up and have a picnic with a friend and go for a walk. :)

PurplePoppySeed · 02/09/2013 11:17

I'm the same, balancing rest and activity. When I had nothing planned last Thursday I ended up with a stress headache. Do whatever you feel like and don't worry about feeling a bit lost at first. I've definately been there last week. I'm currently on the sofa, eating left over cream tea from my baby shower yesterday having cleared up all the mess and taken a very well behaved MIL to the station. I'll be batch cooking cottage pie later & wandering over to my parents as the Manx family are in town. Hopefully some sunshine will factor today too :)

fl0b0t · 02/09/2013 11:43

We can chat babyshowers tomorrow purple- ours was sat! I've got leftover roast dinner to nibble on whilst faffing with photos from babyshower :)

badguider · 02/09/2013 11:46

triple - yes, I'm pretty sure I felt the waters go in a big bubble in the pool though there had been a tiny trickle earlier as I got into the pool.

I felt my mucus plug go at home and it came out in one big lump and was brown. When I got to the MLU they were already muttering about meconium when they saw the remains of that.... not sure though....

Anyway, when big bubble of waters went they decided the baby needed monitoring and wanted me out the pool. I knew he was nearly out but wasn't in a position to explain that :) Getting out was horrible but They thought I'd be pushing for a while because of being a first timer so got me out and I heard them say something about going upstairs to the clu delivery suite but at next contraction they saw him crown so called a paed down. Two more and he was out. The only problem was he went to be checked and I had medical delivery of placenta but he was back for skin to skin really quick and everything was/is fine. (DH was slightly traumatised by the end bit though!)

RunningBear78 · 02/09/2013 13:39

Congratulations badguider sounds like you did a good job! It is funny what makes mw twitchy.

I can't quite imagine climbing out of the pools just as the baby is about to come, although I gather some people want to get out and others don't. My home birth pool is being delivered tomorrow morning and I've just had a session with an aromatherapist midwife - what has happened to me! Might have to go and get myself a kaftan and get some braids in my hair or something ...

I think my mum was slightly disappointed to leave this morning for home without being a granny yet!

If anyone on mat leave with spare time wants to finish my university transfer application, or finish of my phd chapter, just shout! Or you can come and work out how the hell my living room curtain rail goes back up!!!!

Manoodledo · 02/09/2013 13:40

Today is my due date and I'm now officially grumpy! Poor DS2 stuck at home with me today, trying to get lots of cleaning done around him. I think we have some of the hottest temperatures here today, unusually for north of Scotland. Making the most of it by getting lots of washing out. Just away to tackle load 3 of the day.

Lol at Triple saying she's disappointed and relieved in equal measure. I feel a bit like that too.

DS2 is supposed to start his pre-school year at nursery tomorrow, which is great timing... Will have to wait and see whether that will be happening. Managed to totally forgot about it and have booked midwife appointment on Thursday for exactly when I'd need to be taking him to nursery. Doh! She has offered to do a sweep but I'm not sure I'll be that desperate.
