Great news Becca!

April, I'm still eating sushi!

LyraSilvertongue · 27/08/2013 19:00

Ice, how horrible for your colleague. It's so unfair that some people have to struggle for what most take for granted.

Lumpy, it's been like mild contractions. Dull ache in uterus area with back pain. It seems to be easing up a bit now, not so frequent.

Midwife called back. Keep an eye on it, go to A&E if it gets worse, blah blah.

LyraSilvertongue · 27/08/2013 19:01

Bousy, take her with you. Take a book to keep her occupied during the boring bits. I'm sure she'd love to get a look at her sibling.

LyraSilvertongue · 27/08/2013 19:03

I'm pleased, Becca Smile

April, I haven't given up sushi either.

Sorry for multiple posts. I'm on my phone and can't remember all the things I wanted to reply to without posting and then looking again.

TotalShock · 27/08/2013 19:09

kat I'm so sorry. Please take care of yourself, I know how you must be feeling xx

Well d day tomorrow for me. Trying not to get too worked up. Good luck to the others tomorrow

Good news on the other scans x

Imeg · 27/08/2013 19:12

So sorry to hear your news Kat.

Imeg · 27/08/2013 19:16

13+1 and still throwing up...

My midwife said to keep taking folic acid until 16 weeks.

I've been to both the scans so far on my own, husband is coming to the one on Monday. Although many other people had partners or mothers with them, quite a few were on their own. This is my first pregnancy but I noticed the letter said very clearly no children (even babies) were allowed in the scan room. Not sure how people are supposed to do that if they have older children and nobody to help out...

I think a few other people are now due date buddies: I'm due 4th March too :)

Jolleigh · 27/08/2013 19:16

Are we really allowed sushi? Why exactly does freezing it mean we can eat it? I'd imagine freezing it does horrendous things to the quality?

I was debating the other day what fillings I could use doing some home made rolls...from what I've read, we can eat smoked fish...

April13 · 27/08/2013 19:19

Well it was just a wee Marks and Spencer number so i will assume it was frozen! It was amazing 😃 to be honest, only started feeling human again in the last week so probably wouldn't have been able to face it before now!!

NoMaybeAboutIt · 27/08/2013 19:19

The only thing wrong with sushi is a worm that is killed upon freezing. My mw said it was fine as long as I trusted where I ate it, and I do.

Smoked fish is absolutely fine too.

Good luck tomorrow Total

NoMaybeAboutIt · 27/08/2013 19:20

April, M&S don't even use raw fish in their sushi, so it's absolutely fine!

Jolleigh · 27/08/2013 19:22

The wormy thing is in the fish though surely? Rather than the sushi bit.

Jolleigh · 27/08/2013 19:23

Yep...practically all supermarket sushi that has fish uses smoked or cooked fish. A Yo Sushi type lunch box would use raw though.

NoMaybeAboutIt · 27/08/2013 19:26

Yes, the worms are in the fish not the sushi itself. But I've been eating the raw fish type.

Jolleigh · 27/08/2013 19:34

What I wouldn't give for an enormous plate of salmon sashimi now (drools)

Bousy · 27/08/2013 19:38

Thanks for the advice. We may well take the 4-year-old along for the scan, it would be one way of breaking the news!

My understanding was that sushi had to be frozen before sale in this country, so should be fine. The very concept of worms is putting me off a bit though...

April13 · 27/08/2013 19:43

I love yo sushi....

NoMaybeAboutIt · 27/08/2013 19:46

Itsu is my fave Wink

That was what I was told too Bousy

PramQueen1971 · 27/08/2013 19:47

I haven't given up sushi simply because I've never tried the slimy alien bullshit. You're all fucking mad.

PramQueen1971 · 27/08/2013 19:48

..fucking filthy whale foreskin.

April13 · 27/08/2013 19:49

I know this topic is a bit old, but just read my letter, my bladder is to be full and I'm to drink at least 2 pints of fluid before appt!!! Omg I'm going to need tenalady Smile

rescoonetwothree · 27/08/2013 19:49

i hate 'real' sushi bleh! i only eat the vegan/veggie stuff as the rest freaks me out!

NoMaybeAboutIt · 27/08/2013 19:52

Grin Prammy

April, my letter says the same!

PramQueen1971 · 27/08/2013 19:57

I like chip-flavoured sushi.

apprenticemamma · 27/08/2013 19:58

April and no maybe ... that's a bit ott! Was told when got there to be comfortably full but then pornographer reckoned I'd overfilled my bladderWink ..Go figure! Also top tip..if you wAnt multiple copies of scan pic u may need to ask sonographer at the time of the scan...don't do what we did and wait till after when back in waiting room...too late! . don't talk to me about Japanese food I'm craving something which doesn't exist in a 70 mile radius Sad
