rosyryan · 27/08/2013 16:07

Oh Kat, I'm so sorry for your loss. Awful news Sad

lumpylumps · 27/08/2013 16:13

pirates I had my scan on Friday.

I feel fat!!! I sat on the settee last night and commented that I was at least 20wks with ds1 by the time I was this size. Dh very sensitively responded with "well you did have more there to start with this time" yeah? Thanks for that not so d dh!!!

Lyra glad things are ok. I have a Doppler, I pinched borrowed it from work. It's the same as the mw ones but the probe end is much smaller so it's harder to find the hb I tried last week but couldn't find it. Might try again later, I'm almost 13 weeks now.

Those of you past 12 weeks, have you stopped taking your folic acid??

x0gawjus0x · 27/08/2013 16:16

Sorry to hear that kat hope you get all the support you need xxxx

i stopped taking folic acid n now on seven seas pregnancy (still has folic acid) 5 pound for 4 weeks tablets cheapest ive found so far xx

rescoonetwothree · 27/08/2013 16:25

sorry to hear kat, just remember to give yourself as much time as you need.

i still cant find the heartbeat on my doppler, but i am very impatient and mainly just enjoy feeling like I'm someone important with the medical equipment...

lumpy I'm still taking it but only because it;s in the 'pregnacard max' thingies i have loads of them left and i need the other vits in them really!

PramQueen1971 · 27/08/2013 16:30

Kat, I am so very sorry. Please take care x

PramQueen1971 · 27/08/2013 16:31

I stopped taking folic acid at 12 wks on the advice of my IVF clinic.

IceNoSlice · 27/08/2013 16:43

kat I'm so sorry for your loss. Take care.

Lyra and babybear really pleased for you!

SoSurprised good for you for telling them! I've told the bosses but not colleagues. Still in normal work clothes but won't be for long- they're feeling a bit tight! Wondering when to tell everyone. Something really sad happened last week which is making me hold back out of sensitivity - a guy in the department, whose wife had a still born baby 2 years ago, they just had another mc at 9 weeks. They've tried IVF, had multiple mcs. So sad. Didn't want to rub his face in it.

On the other hand I feel a bit dishonest with my other colleagues, when longer term projects are being discussed. And I'm so bloated today, and feel horrible. I don't think it will be long before people guess. Hmmm.

babybear9 · 27/08/2013 16:48

Kat im so sorry. Sending you love and strength. So sad. x

Bousy · 27/08/2013 16:49

Very sorry to hear that Kat, take care of yourself.

Congratulations Lyra and Babybear!

Having a bit of a dilemma as I can't find any childcare for my 4 year old next week for the 12 week scan. Looks like I might be going by myself... Has anyone else gone without DH or partner?

SoSurprised · 27/08/2013 17:05

it's such a relief Ice to have told the boss. I have told two colleagues who are also friends but haven't told everyone else yet. Will wait for the scan till I tell everyone.

LyraSilvertongue · 27/08/2013 17:26

Still having cramping, worse today, but no blood do far today. I called the midwives 24 hour triage line. No answer. Called the community midwives. No answer. Left a message. No call back. Useless.

Rockchick1984 · 27/08/2013 17:28

Bousy could DH go and wait in the waiting room with your 4 year old? My mum did this with my DS then once the checks were completed the sonographer called them in for a quick look at the baby.

So sorry Kat its awful to go through, especially so far into the pregnancy. The Pregnancy Loss topic in Body and Soul section was a huge help to me earlier in the year following my MMC.

I knew I shouldn't have looked at expensive prams, I need the bugaboo buffalo!! It's perfect for what I need, except for the price. DH has said if I can save up for it then I can have it, I see that as a challenge Grin

Lumpy I'm still taking folic acid but same as others - only taking because its part of my multivitamin. Gaw asda do most pregnancy vitamins 3 for £10, think the seven seas ones are on there, I know pregnacare are because they are what I'm taking! Also have their own brand which are 45 days rather than a month.

PramQueen1971 · 27/08/2013 17:30

Bousy, I've had five scans so far - including one at 12 wks - and I've been to all of them alone.

Lyra, I hope someone rings you back soon x

rescoonetwothree · 27/08/2013 17:31

rock hahaha do it!!!!!! i went to the shop with my mum the other day and had a play and fell in love!

HamwidgeAlive · 27/08/2013 17:38

Kat I am so sorry for your loss :(

I have thrown up most of my multi vits.

MummyPig24 · 27/08/2013 17:47

So sorry kat

MTBMummy · 27/08/2013 17:49

Kat I'm so sorry to hear that, I think it's fair to say all our thoughts are with you. Please take some time ou for yourself to heal not only physically but emotionally too.

If you want to chat PM me, I've been there x

fruitpastille · 27/08/2013 17:49

So sorry for your loss kat

lyra hope you get through to someone soon.

I went to a 6 week scan alone, I don't think it is unusual.

As far as prams go I hope to borrow some kind of lie flat carrycot style one to use for the first 2 to 3 months then I think a McLaren techo xt is the way to go. Not glam but easy to sling in the boot, lies flat for naps and has a good hood for protection from sun, wind etc. I will get a nice cosy toe thing for it. I also have an ancient phil and teds which is good over rough ground and can get tons in the basket. Oh I also have a stretchy wrap (kari me) which is good for short trips or wearing at home when baby won't settle! I did the travel system first time around and it was wasted money for us.

Beccadugs · 27/08/2013 17:57

Hi all,

Just wanted to say all find this morning with my scan. Had to wait nearly an hour for the scan and then the same for the blood tests! Great set up at our hospital as they have an extra screen on the wall at the foot of the couch meaning you get to see everything really clearly!

lumpylumps · 27/08/2013 18:07

Lyra what kind of cramping is it?? I've had awful period type pain all weekend and low back ache. I remember being the same with ds2. It's just everything moving around and settling have you tried a warm bath and some paracetamol?? Hope it settles soon. It's such a worry. Especially when none of the professionals get back to you.

I can't remember who said about the buggy board. They are good but can make pushing the pushchair difficult and hurt your back because you're hunched over it. I'm sticking to sling and pushchair this time. I also found that they ruined the pushchair. What was a lovely easy to steer pushchair pre buggy board, turned into one that resembled a trolley with a wonkey wheel after!!!

April13 · 27/08/2013 18:45

I just had sushi. I feel like I've broke the law.

Rockchick1984 · 27/08/2013 18:49
