Hi girls thought as that thread it quite full we could start a new one here.
Hope you don't mind pink.
How you girls all feeling today? I swear I keep forgetting I'm pregnant when symptoms disappear randomly. But I'm at such early stages, one of the babies of the bunch at just 5+2

OP posts:

prettyinpink90 · 31/08/2013 09:35

bindi I think it's down to personal choice. Mine won't be there as he wouldn't be able to get the time off work so we have decided he'll just come to scans.

everything how exciting that you got to see your little bean! I can't wait for my early scan in 2 weeks!

pinkpeoniesplease · 31/08/2013 15:01

Got my scan date through! Unfortunately it's for 23rd September when I'll be on holiday so hopefully they can change it.
The letter gives no info re rescheduling, just says 'your appointment is XXX'. Strange.

Hello all. Thanks for the info re booking in!!

Really looking forward to Monday. Its my 1 year anniversary tomorrow to :)

Trinpy · 31/08/2013 20:59

evening everyone! Exciting that everyone's getting their 12 week scan dates now. Feels like we're really getting somewhere now!

At my booking in I wasn't asked any questions about dh/his family that I couldn't answer. In fact I think the only things I was asked were: what's his name and which country is he from. Not too taxing! Though it might vary depending on different areas.

mamapants · 31/08/2013 21:49

Yes Trinpy guess its different procedure different places. We had to do the whole families medical and pregnancy related history when I was pregnant with DS and probably have to redo it this time even though answers will be all the same. I probably could have answered them all but I think it was nice for DP to be there.
He probably won't be there this time though as we are busy renovating a house so all hours not in work are spent there.

catameringue · 31/08/2013 23:38

Hi all,

I feel like the naive idiot of the group - I didn't know what a booking appt was!

I don't want to contact my gp surgery until my own scan next week. Also my nice gp is on holiday until then.

Was ok today but now in bed I've got a deeper cramp that feels like a light version of af. It's hard not to stress and I'm a natural panicker!

mamapants · 01/09/2013 07:49

cata I think you should probably get the ball rolling with the midwife. Where I am its the midwife that arranges the 12week scan and you don't want them all booked up. Also where I am you wouldn't need to see your gp at all unless you have an ongoing condition or something. So wouldn't worry that your GP isn't about.
And I didn't know anything about booking in appt with DS, I turned up at my GPs who made me feel very silly indeed and said he'd get the midwife to phone me.
I think people have said that some cramps are normal so you shouldn't stress yourself. Plus you could always ask the midwife about it when you talk to her.

Supercalafraga · 01/09/2013 08:48

Hi all! Good to see you all getting on so well Smile my scan seems an age away! symptoms have definitely kicked up a notch. 6 weeks today! Yay!

catameringue · 01/09/2013 09:22

Mamapants - unfortunately I suffer with migraines frequently.

I think services are very full around here. You're right but I'm half expecting nothing there at the scan.

Nessalina · 01/09/2013 10:45

Morning ladies.
I'm having a bit of a panic because I've got some spotting this morning, first time it's happened... Not bright red, but the sort that's like brown CM. I know this has happened to a few people - who else had spotting and what did you do?
I'm 6 + 4 and my booking in appt is a week Tuesday.
Sad

crazycranberry · 01/09/2013 10:58

bindi my booking appt is also 18th sept. my partner is coming along to that. I think it will be better for when they ask all the medical history as I just about remember my side of the family let alone his!
Hope it will be goo for him to be able to ask any questions -keep him involved in pregnancy you know?
Also, I went away this weekend bloody forgot my folic acid tablets. What's weird is that I didn't suffer with sickness/nausea all through the night. Since taking the folic acid tablets, I am up most of the night feeling totally pants! Coincidence?

crazycranberry · 01/09/2013 11:02

everythingcrossed is it normal to have an early scan at a booking appointment where you are? I was told scan would be about 12weeks so feels like soooooo far away before I can see my ickle baby Sad
Can you request an early scan without any medical reason for doing so?
I had an early scan with 1st baby at 9weeks as I was bleeding.

EverthingcrossedforApril14 · 01/09/2013 11:23

crazy I live in Northern Ireland and they arrange booking appointments at 8-10 weeks and they give you scan at your booking. This must be a recent change as in 2010 when I was pregnant with DD they arranged my booking and first scan for when I was nearly 12 weeks. When I was pregnant with DS they scanned me at 8 weeks but my GP had requested that I was seen early as there were some endocrine issues with myself, so I assumed that was the reason. It is great to get an early scan, and it is usual practise here, I had no bleeding or anything that would warrant an early scan. However, they do not routinely scan you again so the next scan would not be until 15 weeks when I an having my quadruple test. So I was cheeky and asked for a reassurance scan at 12 weeks, the Consultant was not too pleased but they booked one for me.

EverthingcrossedforApril14 · 01/09/2013 11:28

nessa I have not had any spotting or bleeding yet, I think if your worried get it checked out. Some of the other ladies on MN have been told that the embryo is making itself more secure, so sometimes you get some bleeding between 6-8 weeks. It is only a concern if it is associated with cramps and if is increases in volume.

Thanks Everything, I've rung my EPU and they've booked me in for a scan tomorrow. They were really nice actually, didn't make me feel silly at all, just booked me in. Fingers crossed for all looking ok, I guess at 6 + 4 I should hopefully see a HB if all is right...

bunnygoesbang · 01/09/2013 12:00

Ness don't panic I have four lots of bleeding so far. Two times it was brown and spotting and the other red and like a period
I've had two scans and all fine.
I also had this with dd who is now 7. I think it's 30% of pregnant women bleed at some point. Good luck with the scan x

mamapants · 01/09/2013 12:07

Good luck with your scan tomorrow nessa.
And try not to worry cata. I know easier said than done. What day is your scan next week?

Hopefully my midwife will phone me straight away tomorrow and can get a date for booking in appointment.seems such a long time till the first scan can see why so many of you have booked private ones but I'm far too stingy for that.
Roll on 12 weeks!

Tea1Sugar · 01/09/2013 12:30

I have a scan tomorrow too, I'll be 6+4. Will I see a heartbeat? Hope so. They're checking how many there are in there due to family history of multiples Shock

Xavielli · 01/09/2013 12:45

Hi ladies,

I did a test on Friday after a dream that I was 23 weeks pregnant.
AF was due at the end of July but since DD2 was born (19 months) I've only had 4 periods and they've not been every month so I wasn't actually worried I was pg...especially as DP has a VASECTOMY in feb 11!

I was so shocked as you can imagine, the test came up so clear and quickly. I have zero symptoms, which after knowing with all of my other 4 is worrying me. I have no idea if there are any higher chances of abnormalities with babies after the snip.

I was done at 4 - not sure how I feel about any of this at the moment.

cookielove · 01/09/2013 13:19

Oh wow Xavielli how far along do you think you are?

Fx it will be all ok! Smile

Vikkijayne2507 · 01/09/2013 13:33

Xavielli it must have been quite a shock, esp after a vasectomy. I dont know about abnormalilties I would speak to gp or midwife and expalin the situation. I would have a proper chat with DP as well I wouldnt rush into any major decisions but you should do what is right for you and your family. Good luck

Tea1Sugar · 01/09/2013 13:40

Oh wow, so this is number 5? I understand that must have been a big shock for you both. As mentioned already, take your time to think about what to do, only you can make that decision. Perhaps request a scan to see how far gone you are?

LeeHandy · 01/09/2013 17:39

good luck Nessa and tea for your scans tomorrow! nessa, I had the same spotting at 6+6 and 7+6 but it was absolutely nothing but the epu were very nice about it and my early scan was very reassuring.
xavielli that's quite a shock! good luck and hope everything is alright with you and the baby.

EverthingcrossedforApril14 · 01/09/2013 18:55

Good luck for the scans tomorrow ladies and xavielli that must have been a shock, give your self lots of time to adjust and consider what you want!
