April 2014... Thread 1

1000 replies

BoobsTooBig · 20/08/2013 10:46

Hi girls thought as that thread it quite full we could start a new one here.
Hope you don't mind pink.
How you girls all feeling today? I swear I keep forgetting I'm pregnant when symptoms disappear randomly. But I'm at such early stages, one of the babies of the bunch at just 5+2

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Mystic73 · 15/09/2013 19:26

Anyone have reflux? It's more like severe saliva overload which I have to keep spitting out or I would vomit, the amount of symptoms... It's exhausting :-/ 10 was today :-)

Mystic73 · 15/09/2013 19:27

Oops ten weeks today lol

learnasyougo · 15/09/2013 20:15

I've got the drowning in saliva, but it's nothing like reflux. I got reflux pretty badly last time around (from around 24 weeks, I think). That was misery. it kept me awake, like having food stuck in your chest and like dinner is constantly trying to make an appearance. I came to hate the taste and texture of gaviscon. Although the strawberry one isn't too bad.
I can feel my fatigue us lifting, though. I'm not dragging a half-dead version of myself around fron 4pm onwards. hurrah! roll on 2nd trimester!

11+1

mamapants · 15/09/2013 21:33

Eugh I had terrible heartburn last pregnancy too learn dreading that coming back!
Have been asleep with DS again tonight and just awake now and not had any dinner.
Still at least DP will be home the next few evenings and be able to look after me.

patsy375 · 15/09/2013 22:00

learn lol at "dragging a half dead version of my self around" that's a cracking description of the first trimester!

Bit the bullet and told everyone our news this weekend. Surprisingly lovely reaction from all except my 13 year old son Sad
" Oh God you're not are you? Just what we need another little brat running around" Shock
Was sort of expecting him to be a bit annoyed but he was really quite nasty. Sad

prettyinpink90 · 16/09/2013 08:04

Morning ladies!

learn glad it's not just me that's feeling like a zombie! Hoping that it will pass

patsy we told everyone at the weekend too, isnt it exciting! Sorry your son didnt take the news well but I'm sure he'll come round soon.

Fairypants · 16/09/2013 08:04

Sorry you didn't get a great action from your ds patsy,it's probably just a shock and he'll come round.
Also, sorry so many of you are still feeling rubbish but it should start easing a bit now.
I've been a bit quiet the last week as all my symptoms disappeared a week ago -at 9weeks and I have been really worried about it (I know, be careful what you wish for right?). Anyway, I managed to hear my babies heartbeat last night with a Doppler so feeling a lot better Smile I'm hoping I can get on with enjoying finally being pregnant again now.

LightTripper · 16/09/2013 08:58

Thank you FairyPants ... 9 weeks is only a few days away so read your post with the closest I have got to a grin in days!! So glad you had a scan set up already too. My first is at 10 weeks because I am paranoid about getting a "middling" nuchal result due to my age, and decided already to go for Harmony test. Can't wait to see if there is actually a little bean there! My sis had a chemical pregnancy last year which she only found out at her 12 week, which was obviously not much fun. I really want to tell her, but I think if I do it pre-scan it will just bring that all back, so just hanging on to a week on Friday (or maybe I should wait for the Harmony result too... I'm finding it so hard to figure out when to tell people).

Told my boss at the weekend due to the sickness thing, and she was shocked but nice about it, so that was a relief. Speaking of which, must get going and get some bloody work done in my good hours!

catameringue · 16/09/2013 09:00

So I've finally found a positive of being pg - being on light duties!

We've been doing some diy at home which means I now sit on Google looking up the items we need whilst dh runs around carrying things, drilling and sawing etc. I had a nice relaxing day watching the men wear themselves out!

LeeHandy · 16/09/2013 11:47

light can I ask how old you are? I was offered the harmony test on Saturday and I thought that it may not be required but now that you mentioned you are doing it because of your age I am wondering if I should be as well. I am almost 36 and this is my first.
I thought I would have my 12 week scan today but my appointment was cancelled so I have to go on Thursday morning instead.
I am 12+2 today.

LightTripper · 16/09/2013 12:09

Hello! I'm 38, but nobody has told me I "should" have it. It's just that I've seen the odds of chromosonal disorder at 38 are on average about 150:1. Obviously with nuchal and bloods etc mine could be higher or lower, but for me personally I don't think that's likely to be low enough that I'd sleep well at night - others would probably be fine (and it is expensive), but if we do it we get (a) a 10 week scan which should show us if there is a pregnancy there for sure and if it is ectopic (good friend of mine had one of those too, nightmare, she nearly died - though that is very rare these days and was due to various mess ups), and (b) gives you a much better guide whether to have amnio or not (I think it gives you odds of either 1:2 or 1:10000), rather than leaving you with a risk of say 1:75 trying to make that decision. Hopefully the result will be back around the same time as our NHS 12 week scan, so we can look at all the info together and decide what to do.

So we kind of decided to throw money at the problem in advance. One of the advantages of being older is lots of our friends have just finished making babies, so we're hopeful we can get most of the "kit" for the baby second hand from friends if all goes well. Or at least, that's what I'm telling myself to justify the expense!

Fairypants · 16/09/2013 13:21

Hi light, I didn't have a scan. I bought a Doppler a couple of weeks ago off ebay and have been trying it every couple of days waiting for the HB to be loud/clear enough.
There is no way DH would agree to an early scan and this way I get to check every time I get worried (so every day)Grin

LightTripper · 16/09/2013 13:25

Ooh, I didn't realise you could get them! Are they easy to use?
Don't think I'll go there myself, I would probably be on it all the time! But dying to know if its viable or not. Keep thinking of my poor sis having all this sickness etc and then no foetus Sad. Anyway, not too long to wait now.

coffeewineandchocolate · 16/09/2013 16:35

Hi all, I lost this thread for a while! I am 9+3, sickness has finally lifted and I had a reassurance scan on sat which confirmed my dates and the heartbeat ??

Feel like the lethargy is starting to lift too!

ChocChaffinch · 16/09/2013 20:09

chemical pg sounds like a horrible nightmare, poor lady.

11+4 scan in 2 days whooop

cookielove · 16/09/2013 20:37

Hello all.

So tired.

11+4

:)

ChocChaffinch · 16/09/2013 20:45

HEY COOKIE COOKIE!

Misty9 · 16/09/2013 21:14

Hello all.
So exciting that people are getting towards 12wk scans now! My sickness is finally lifting a little....but the heartburn has started. Joy. They don't make fruit rennies anymore so I'm trying tums, but might have to graduate to gaviscon tablets (can't bear the idea of liquid medicine). I've got a Doppler somewhere from my last highly anxiety provoking pregnancy, just can't remember where I put it!

So tired. Time for bed.
10+2

bLooming2 · 16/09/2013 21:35

10 wks xx

LeeHandy · 16/09/2013 21:35

Light I have been reading the harmony test forum on MN and found out a bit more about the test. My 12 week scan is going to be at King's College Denmark Hill and the facilities there are apparently as good as Fetal Medicine Centre because both are run by Prof. Nikolaides. At this point, I think I am going to wait until my nuchal screening results come in after Thursday and then call FMC if the numbers don't sound good.
12+2

prettyinpink90 · 16/09/2013 22:27

Is anyone else getting hunger pangs? I've started getting them over the last week like crazy and can't go more than an hour without my stomach growling and my stomach feeling empty - it's almost like I haven't ate all day. I was dieting pre-pregnancy but have upped my food intake since I found out so I'd say I'm eating enough. I've even been waking during the night absolutely starving.

LightTripper · 16/09/2013 22:37

I feel sooo behind all you ladies, only 8+5! Stories of sickness lifting v v encouraging though, light at the end of tunnel!

Lee, sounds very wise. If I was in your shoes think I would do the same (plus of course at 35 you're a mere whippersnapper Grin)

Vikkijayne2507 · 17/09/2013 08:10

I do feel my tiredness is lessening, im still very tired when I get home but during the day I dont feel too bad. Almost normal. I am starting to worry about a chemical pregnancy or a mmc. I am so eager but nervous for my scan next week Friday. I really want to see bean but am terrifed there will be nothing there. Theres not a lot I can do until then but wait and worry a bit.

11 + 1 wks

LightTripper · 17/09/2013 08:49

Hi Vikki, my first scan is next week Friday too! Will be sharing tenterhooks with you...only 9 days to go! FWIW I think my sis was very unlucky - it is not common for chemical pgs to go that long without mc...

Vikkijayne2507 · 17/09/2013 09:07

Ooo a scan buddy, I do hope all is well what time is yours mine is 2pm so have to get through the morning as well at work dont know how much work will get done on that day. eek
