I like the sound of the name MTB but the spelling is a bit bonkers, could you change it? Maybe just take the 'A' off? Grin

IceNoSlice · 19/08/2013 16:29

MTB is it Welsh? Never heard it before. But I like it.

Gosh Lyra sounds nasty. I am sending good thoughts your way for you to get the outcome you want. How horrible for you to have to go through this.

PramQueen1971 · 19/08/2013 16:33

Ugh. How utterly dreadful, Lyra, I hope you find a peaceful outcome. Why don't these men just go and live under a rock or summat? Snivelling turds.

JK10 · 19/08/2013 17:11

lyra thanks do much for the response! I really thought that they listened at the bookin in and was suprised when she said they can't hear elt till 16 weeks!! Was a little dissapointed as I haven't had a scan yet and not getting one until I'm 13+4 so still feels ages away before I get a confirmation that there is even a baby in there!! Lol!

So sorry to hear about your court case, how long till you hear the outcome?

PramQueen1971 · 19/08/2013 17:24

What does everyone think of Purdey for a girl's name? Honesty, pliz..

MortifiedAdams · 19/08/2013 17:25

Hi, sorry I havent caught up yet but am having more bleeding and this time it looks (and smells sorry tmi) like a period

Sad
MortifiedAdams · 19/08/2013 17:26

Pram It makes me think of Purdita - the lady dog from 101 Dalmations.

IceNoSlice · 19/08/2013 17:33

Jk10 my MW said they don't listen until the appointment after the dating scan because, although you can hear something a lot of the time, if they don't hear anything it can cause upset for no reason. IYSWIM.

Pram there was a thread on MN the other day linking to a daily mail story about a SAHM who had a full time nanny. She'd called her daughter Purdey and there was a lot of nastiness about the name. Can't say it's on my list but I don't have a strong aversion to it personally.

Imeg · 19/08/2013 17:42

Hi everyone.

Purdey also made me think of 101 Dalmations, but not necessarily a bad thing?

MTB: how about having an 'easier' middle name and then you can see how you get on and you and/or child can use their middle name in the future if you or they want to?

In terms of names, I don't think we're at all ready to have that conversation but I have a clear idea for a boy, including a family name as a middle name, but no clear thoughts for a girl at all. I don't think it will be anything unusual though.

I had my scan today and they decided I was 12 weeks, which is further on than I thought, so it's nice to have jumped forward a bit, although irritating that I was still throwing up this morning... All looked ok, although we are having another scan in 2 weeks to look more closely as husband has a genetic condition, so won't be telling everyone until after that. It was really weird seeing it wriggling around, and actually looking like a baby: did get a bit teary...

Pram and Lyra, sorry to hear of your situations, I hope you have good support.

NoMaybeAboutIt · 19/08/2013 17:44

Mort are you ok?

PiratesMam · 19/08/2013 17:46

Mortified have you called your mw? Try not to panic x

HotCrossPun · 19/08/2013 17:52

Oh Mort you poor thing. The odds are with you on this one, just make sure you get to see your midwife for reassurance.

Will be thinking about you sweetheart Thanks

MortifiedAdams · 19/08/2013 17:59

Sad no. I feel very teary. J have that sort of heavy feeling in my uterus that acompanies a period.

Ive called my surgery as I dont have a number for my midwife, and she is going to have the on call doc ring me.

I know this can happen, and things still Ok, but I dobt want to be told verbally by a doc - I need them to check.

Rockchick1984 · 19/08/2013 18:02

Mort call your EPU or Dr and get a referral for a scan. Then go to bed and do nothing else until the scan. Hoping everything is ok for you Thanks

Lyra hope they realised today that ex is a nob, and that you won.

Rockchick1984 · 19/08/2013 18:04

Sorry, x-posted. Have you already had any scans? My stretching pains feel like the heavy, period-y feeling so hopefully its something innocuous causing it. Your EPU should be willing to scan you tomorrow, but you really should rest as much as you can for now.

PiratesMam · 19/08/2013 18:05

Mort can you google for your EPU's number? xxx

JK10 · 19/08/2013 18:07

mortified thinking of u Hun, make sure they do check you and don't fob you off, please let us know how you get on, we are all routing for u with positive thoughts.

Thanks ice! Makes sense!

imeg pleased scan went well for u! Did u have any incling as to the flavour? Blueberry or strawberry!?!

OwlinaTree · 19/08/2013 18:12

Hi guys, sorry haven't been on for a while, have just got back from holiday! Think i've read everything.

April13 what about Shona? That's Scottish i think?

Pram sounds like you have had a stressful few weeks, thinking of you. It does sound like your dh/dp needs support from gamblers anonymous or somesuch, I'm sure i'm preaching to the choir here. I really hope things work out for you and your baby, will be thinking of you. On a lighter note, i think Purdey is what the Irish call potatoes!

JK congrats on the home birth news. Hope it works out, my sister had one and said it was a fantastic experience. I'll be having a section, so no choice to have a home birth unfortunately.

gawjus it's my scan tomorrow too. I'm so so nervous about it. This is me and my husband's rainbow baby, after 3+ years of trying including a loss i am so nervous of things going wrong. I keep thinking i will go in and the sonographer will say 'what baby? You are not even pregnant' or something like that. Will be glad when it's done, luckily it is at 8:30 so not too much day to spend worrying tomorrow.

I am hoping to report back to all with good news tomorrow. Fingers crossed, for all you guys too, hope you are ok mort.

MortifiedAdams · 19/08/2013 18:14

OK, spoke to the oncall who was actually mine and dds doctor! He took ot very seriously, but said that they are unable to refer to EPU this late in the day - he wants me in the docs to see their nurse at 9.30 who will do what she can to get me scanned asap.

I thanked him for taking it as seriously as I am and he said they like to get people in and checked over at the slightest clue.

Ive called work and they are fine (not that they have any choice), and a friend who knows is cvering my shift.

Had plans for the ILs to come roubd tonight and have a takeaway so weve cancelled them. Might still have the take away tho Blush

commsgirl · 19/08/2013 18:17

Mortified definitely get a takeaway. I'm glad the doc was so helpful and I've got everything crossed for you. As others have said, the odds are on your side.

Beccadugs · 19/08/2013 18:37

Mortified - I'm sorry you are having bleeding, it's terrifying isn't it. Glad uou have supportive GP, bet it makes lots of difference!

Pram - sorry things are still stressful, no advice but lots of love sending your way.

Lyra - sorry your X is being awful, must be so difficult.

Everyone else - sorry if I missed anything pertinent, I am on my phone waiting to board a ferry... Envy

I am also a bit worried as three weeks ago I have lots of red jelly like discharge - fobbed off by the EPU, have had on an off tiny bits of brown string discharge since but today after a long walk around Carrefour in Calais I have had a huge brown stringy blob. I am panicking a bit, as I also have a draggy pain on my left hand side. What should I do Martians?! Sad

HotCrossPun · 19/08/2013 18:57

Becca I've had that draggy feeling, I think it's just stretching. If the blood is brown is maybe old from 3 weeks ago. Phone your midwife if you are at all worried though Thanks

mort Definitely get a takeaway. Put your feet up and get an early night. Hopefully everything settles down and you can get some reassurance in the morning. Thanks

PramQueen1971 · 19/08/2013 18:57

Mortified, I am wishing you the very best for tomorrow x

Imeg, congrats on the scan.

Becca, only a scan will put your mind at rest. Call EPU and exaggerate your symptoms/level of pain.

SoSurprised · 19/08/2013 19:15

Mortified best of luck for tmrw.

Becca I agree with pram you need to exaggerate your symptoms so you are seen

I am still awaiting my scan date :/

MortifiedAdams · 19/08/2013 19:22

Becca I agree - say what ever you need to to get seen.
