PS - re the rock poos I've really been suffering and even the laxative I was given by the GP made little impact - however I am currently eating 500g of grapes a day and that seems to have things moving along quite nicely

Pram Hmm, his background does complicate things. I won't pretend to know anything about addiction but it sounds like he needs prof help at this stage. That's him though (although joint counselling at some point might be a good idea). The main thing is what's best for you. I'd take time to have lots of treats and be nice to yourself - and try not to obsess about all this (easier said than done) - and in a week or so things will prob seem clearer. You sound very strong.

justmuddlingthroughit · 19/08/2013 13:30

Haha april, you should definitely do that! Make sure you tell those who didn't like the name to their face, looking them right in the eyes, just to make them feel awkward...

Magpieblue · 19/08/2013 13:33

Thanks muddling, lib, pirates and mummy for poo tips. Sorry April to hear you've been suffering so badly.

Dried apricots it is then. And I will be thinking of the phrase "lubricate your bumhole with Vaseline" every time I want to cheer myself up.

FrankelInFoal · 19/08/2013 13:36

Hello you chatty lot! Just checking on briefly to say I finally got through to the ultrasound dept only to be told they have no record of a scan appt for me tomorrow Hmm Angry.

However, the nurse was lovely and said she had just had a cancellation for Thursday afternoon and would I like that instead. So, Thursday it is!

I'm currently on a work placement for my college course so am sat in the staff room munching on lovely corner beef sandwiches Grin. I've told everyone here I'm preggo so that I don't get asked to do any silly stuff like lifting, etc. I figure none of them actually know me, so it doesn't matter that I've told them!

justmuddlingthroughit · 19/08/2013 13:42
  • sniggers like an adolescent at 'lubricate your bumhole'
IceNoSlice · 19/08/2013 13:43

Oh my - bumhole lubrication on a Monday morning!

Pram - have you got a fruit and veg market nearby? One if those of old fashioned '50p a paaaahnd' type markets? There is one in the middle of Brum and you can sometimes get amazing bargains with things like mangoes. I bought some at 10 for £1 once (ok, 3 were rotten but still a bargain!) It's the luck of the draw what they have in though. And regarding the OH situation, gosh aren't there some lovely, thoughtful and wise ladies on this thread?

My DS has his first full day at nursery today. Hope he's ok!!

rescoonetwothree · 19/08/2013 13:46

seems to be a common theme that the men want a more normal/popular name and we seem to want ones a bit more unusual!

all mine basically have been shot down by the bf apart from one, and includes one that sounds extremely similar to his name Hmm

i have a girls middle name sorted as thats a family tradition name (i don't like the boy version), but i am also the last with the family name so am debating using that as a middle name for a boy, or even keeping the name anyway and giving the baby that surname, he isn't that attached to his surname so we'll see!

i have been banned from many but the other ones i really liked: aubrey for a girl and for boys ephraim, ruan and javier (javi) i wasn't even humoured on!

rescoonetwothree · 19/08/2013 13:47

frank I'm another for thurs scan, thats so annoying they didn't even have you down!!!!

PiratesMam · 19/08/2013 13:54

Ice how was he when you dropped him off? And how were you??! I cope terribly with new settings for the kids. They don't usually give a shit though!

commsgirl · 19/08/2013 14:00

DP won't entertain any names he can't shorten/make a nickname out of. The man's obsessed! H

NoMaybeAboutIt · 19/08/2013 14:16

Oh Ice, I bet he's having a whale of a time!

Prammy, I am v tired right at this moment. I felt awful all morning, took an hour to eat my lunch, and now my stomach has ballooned!! Could so do with a nap.

Frank I'm pleased you finally got a scan date!

PramQueen1971 · 19/08/2013 14:18

Yes, Ice, I'm astounded at the level of support on here. Even better is the fact that I don't feel judged about our pasts. I really don't want to monopolise this thread any more, though, so I will move on..(except to say, I would love to teat myself, Mags, but the bastard has spent all our money).

Names I like which I've heard from you all thus far: Noah, Joel, Javier (although it is 'out there' unless you're Spanish), Teddy, Reuben & Rory. MTB, I demand you tell us your extreme name...

Frank, raaaaaa...! etc, etc. How infuriating. But great that Thursday is so near (mine is the following Thursday).

Ice, no markets nearby as I live on the moon (well, it certainly feels like it). My greengrocer had no mangoes today and no Jazz apples, the fat useless pervert.

commsgirl · 19/08/2013 14:19

Hope your DS has a good day Ice! I'm sure he's much more relaxed than you about the whole thing!

Frank What a nightmare! So glad you've got a scan sorted now.

Grey My DP is all for a popular name too. I love the idea of using your surname as a middle name. Love Aubrey.

PramQueen1971 · 19/08/2013 14:21

What will I do when he takes the telly when he moves out at the weekend? I can cope with anything life throws at me as long as I've got Corrie Sad

HotCrossPun · 19/08/2013 14:21

commsgirl My DP is the opposite. Every name I come up with he thinks of a ridiculous nickname that people at school might use for our child.

I really like Arabella. But he's worried people will call her 'Arabella Mozerella' Hmm

PramQueen1971 · 19/08/2013 14:23

Hang on, isn't Aubrey a boy's name, JuicyMoosy? Did you mean Audrey?

PramQueen1971 · 19/08/2013 14:24

Hottie, the way your husband's going on you'll end up calling it Anne Hmm

PiratesMam · 19/08/2013 14:25

Pram Firstly I think he should leave you the bloody TV after what he's put you through! But secondly - ITV iplayer! I love Corrie too.

MTB Yes yes I want to know the whacky name too. Can you post it on FB if you don't want to here?

HotCrossPun · 19/08/2013 14:28

Michelle Heaton has just announced she is pregnant. Given that most people announce around about the 3 month mark she is probs a March Martian too.

Own up. Are any of you Michelle? Grin

April13 · 19/08/2013 14:29

hotcrosspun Arabella is lovely :) although, I am terrible for coming up with things that rhyme, and i am really bad at making them dirty, but i know what it was like at school lol!

I have now sat for the 1.5 hrs at work looking up names and have now drafted a list oops! I like Scottish names, however I don't want anything too obscure or too Scottish IYSWIM?? Also, I have always sworn to myself that any child of mine would have a name that you can pronounce just by looking at it (people still argue with me, to my face about my name....its my bloody name i know how to say and spell it, sorry), but it seems I am going of the track too......

MortifiedAdams · 19/08/2013 14:31

Arabella Mozzarella Donatella Salmonella Cinderella

Grin Sorry!

IceNoSlice · 19/08/2013 14:32

Pirates - he was fine, immediately crawled off to play with a truck. I just hope he sleeps and eats! Thanks everyone for your kind wishes, I'll update later.

Ooh excited for more scans this week!

HotCrossPun · 19/08/2013 14:33

April I have a friend with the same name (or spelling of) as you. The teachers at school all used to pronounce it differently!

Magpieblue · 19/08/2013 14:34

Pram you should def get the TV. I'm skint so treats to me tend to be free or cheap - a nice walk, baking, a swim, crisps, knitting, a home pedicure, crisps, a DVD from the library, crisps. Actually I'm a bit uninspired - if you have any other free/cheap treats please let me know!

Love the name Aubrey for a boy (as in Aubrey Beardsley, one of my fave artists)
