Just Shagging Grads, here is your shiny new Fred!

For those that don't know, a 'viroid' is from the original JSing thread 1, where someone was trying to type ladies (in reference to all the JSing ladies), but their phone decided to call us all viroids instead!

The name stuck and we've been the JSing viroids ever since.

The last thread saw plenty of births and we've got loads of new Grads to add to the mix. Bring on the TMI posts, the midnight moans, the birthwatches and the pom poms!

Our stats thread is here, so if you find us, please add your stats too.

There is also a Just Mumming thread for grads of the grads thread

And if you want to find out what Just Shagging is about or catch up with the undergrads go say hello to the Just Shaggers here, now on the 17th thread.

MIL is not really my cup of tea but we've always got on ok. A lot better since we got engaged actually. I pointed out to DH that she hadn't asked after to me and he just shrugged and said she had a lot on her mind.... Angry Its definitely about the long game!! My mum keeps saying "Oh she'll come round when the baby's born" and I'm like well NO! She won't get the opportunity if she doesn't make some effort now!

Min that's not selfish at all. It's yours and DH's special day!

Hope everyone is feeling well this morning!

Nessalina · 01/06/2014 10:11

Morning all Smile How are we on this sunny Sunday?
Rpopz, you've got it right, just don't let her rile you, and hopefully she'll come round sooner rather than later. If she doesn't she can bugger right off!
We've booked a holiday! A week in Greece! I am ridiculously excited!

DulcetMoans · 01/06/2014 10:26

Morning!! I'm baaaack! Knackered though, only couple hours sleep on Friday night. Caught up a bit last night but I'm no good at staying awake at the mo!

Told the in laws yesterday, there were a few tears and it was totally unexpected which was good. Feel good to have told them but now I have the worries that it won't work out. MIL thinks I am thinking too negatively about it... Will try more positive thinking!

Greece will be lovely then nessa, are you going somewhere you've been before? Special pregnant bikini on the shopping list this week???

What a pain in the arse your MIL is turning out to be popz! Better to focus on those that are happy though, she will be the one to miss out, not you.

What did you tell your MIL in the end min? I think just saying AM and PM would be a good compromise, and you'll call her when it's done. They like to feel involved! Lol.

wilhelminand · 01/06/2014 11:11

Very exciting Nessa, when is the holiday?

Glad your news went well Dulcet.

I am shattered - for no reason at all. Finding it v hard to get going today.

RPopz · 01/06/2014 11:39

Eeek Ness that's well exciting! I soooo want to go on holiday!! We went to Crete in September and it was lovely.

Hope you enjoyed yourself Dulce! I know what you mean about negative thinking - I felt same after all the family knew. There's suddenly all this pressure! I said to Mun I didn't want to get excited til after the scan and she was all "why, it'll be FINE!!!" Which kinda made me think well yeah, why wouldn't it be actually! Thinking the worst is just self protection I think.

Should really get my ass of the sofa at some point today but not sure when!

Minion · 01/06/2014 14:46

The husband has told her is Thursday and we'll send a pic when we've had a while with it ourselves. She's just so excited to tell her sisters etc, they won't care, there's no love lost on that side of the family, but I don't want all them knowing before the side of the family I actually like.
Politics eh.
I was having a non pg day however that abruptly ended when in ikea. All these flat packs does not a happy minion make.

DulcetMoans · 01/06/2014 16:11

Politics indeed min. We've all got it! I was hoping to see my Dad yesterday on his one day in the country but he was... Unavailable Hmm. So now he doesn't know and I might have to do it by email. And he will find out later than in laws. Queue shitstorm...!

What flat pack joy did you go with?

It's completely self protection popz, hopefully understandable. The Internet is full of horror stories too. Nasty google! Doesn't help.

If you aren't feeling it today have a rest wil. Well, as much as possible! There's bound to be down days.

Minion · 01/06/2014 16:25

Oh where do I start? In the past week alone I've seen more of b and q than my own reflection, more ikea than I can shake a stick at and more contractors than I thought we needed.
We've bought underlay, flooring, bookshelves, desk, power tools, lawnmowers..y
The list is not exhaustive.
But it's starting to look lke il home. So that's something.

Then the flat packs were too large for the car so we hadtto rent a van..
Cripes. I'll not be able to afford to eat soon.

Babies can sleep in boxes right?

JuniDD · 01/06/2014 16:28

Ah minion just been through all this myself. FOUR MONTHS of not having full use of the house. Nearly drove me mad and we never argued so much. It'll be great when it's all done. Babies sleep in boxes in Finland! Boxes!

20 week scan on Wednesday morning...mostly nervous about how we are going to get to the hospital in dreadful rush hour with me needing a full bladder Sad. Stress always makes me need the loo and last time I was desperate but wasn't full enough!

Minion · 01/06/2014 17:07

juniDD hahaha that's a conundrum. Treasure a bottle in the car and if your anything like me you'll be ready for the loo as soon as you get theresults.
I.used to pride myself on being able to hold it in for about 10 hours. Now I'm lucky if I can push the one hour mark.
Loo roll should be in the NHS for that reason alone!

Are you going to find out the gender or are you leaving it a surprise?

wilhelminand · 01/06/2014 17:32

You shouldn't need to have a full bladder for 20wk scan Juni. If I remember correctly, it's good to drink a glass of water beforehand but they don't need it to be as full as for first scan. Maybe you could get to hospital 10 mins early and have it when you get there?

I know someone whose baby slept in a drawer for a week when their travel cot broke so a box will be fine Min! We were also in Ikea, but just for a quick visit thankfully.

That's crap about your dad Dulcet, when will you next get to see him?

I've just had my first pg nap. Delightful. Wish I could do it every day. I think you should be allowed to work half days during the first trimester Grin.

HungryHorace · 01/06/2014 19:14

I was going to say the same as Wil about the bladder fullness! Baby is big enough to not need a full bladder at 20 weeks. :-)

Ah, I'm so jealous of your nap! I'm not a napper and have been too busy to even attempt one, even though I'm exhausted.

Dulcet, if your dad's nose is out of joint, it's not going to be your fault at all. I'm sure he will just be happy for you.

I told my mum via email this time as she has an anxiety disorder and also can't hide what she thinks, so I decided that to save being insulted by her reaction I'd give her time to come up with something polite! She wasn't overly enthusiastic, but at least she wasn't rude.

Minion, I got tired just reading your post! Sounds slightly chaotic, but better now than when baby's born.

I've spent the weekend watching my belly wobble all over the place and playing chase the foot. :-) Love this stage of pregnancy (except the tiredness!).

If I have a 39 week ELCS (as in bang on that date) I'll be having my baby next month. Eek!

And only 4.5 more working days til annual leave / mat leave. Cannot wait! :-)

Nessalina · 01/06/2014 19:27

Quite proud of myself - have managed today so far without a nap! Shock

We're going to Corfu! I've been to Greece many times, but only once to Corfu when I was 10ish I think? Looks like a nice resort, £650 for two of us for the week which I thought was a pretty good deal. Could've got cheaper waiting a week or two I reckon but wanted to get it booked!! A month today and I'll be there! I have a nice bikini, the bottoms are quite stretchy, so think I'll give it another two weeks before I see if I need to shell out on a new cossie...

Ugh! Ikea! Hmm I have to go on Tuesday. Sigh! I don't envy you Min, we're just at the end of our major house overhaul, it's been hell! I promise it's worth it though Smile

I just got my letter about the pregnancy scan Juni, and I was worrying about the same thing - it's proper serious about full bladder! I quote:
"To enable us to obtain the images required, it is essential that you attend with a full bladder. Please drink one and a half pints of fluid, preferably water, one hour before your appointment time. Do not empty your bladder until after your scan. If you do not have a full bladder you may miss your appointment time, you may have to wait, or another appointment have to be made"
I'm sure the 12 week one wasn't so bad!! And it goes on for twenty minutes, so the ultrasound tech will be lucky if she doesn't get peed on! Do we think this is just hot air then? Did you guys not have to be bursting?!

HungryHorace · 01/06/2014 19:38

Nope, definitely not. I only had half a pint of fluid about an hour before and had been for a wee just after this too, so my bladder was nowhere near full.

I'm jealous of your holiday, Ness. :-)

wilhelmeaner · 01/06/2014 20:00

oh really Ness? That's strange. I remember first scan, they sent the letter like you say and then second scan, they sent no guidance whatsoever. So I just assumed it was the same and went with full bladder. They were running really late and I was bursting and when I got into scan room she said 'oh you don't need a full bladder for this one, do you want to go to the toilet so you're more comfortable?' But I guess you had better go with whatever the letter says. It depends on other factors too like your weight etc so better to be safe than sorry. I have a friend who is so skinny that she barely even needs to drink for the first scan as they can see everything so clearly. Or so she says.

4.5 days of work left definitely trumps my nap Horace! Very jealous.

So I've been feeling pretty grotty the last few days, pregnancy wise, and I said to Mr Wil "Ah this'll be it now until week 13/14, feeling like crap." To which he responded "you'll be fine, positivity is what you need." Hmm So there you go viroids, the cure for morning sickness is posifrickintivity. If only everyone knew. (You can line up to give him a punch in the guts and then tell him it won't hurt if he smiles).

JuniDD · 01/06/2014 20:14

hi, like ness my letter says I have to have a full bladder and it is highlighted in case I forget! I did get sent out of the 12 week one for not being full enough - they were very nice about it, unlike how the letter makes it sound - but I'd rather just get on with it if possible.

I've been sleeping in a bit late this afternoon but I'm having trouble dropping off at night so try not to nap. Worst of both worlds in the week!

Sorry about your dad dulcet and all these Ikea trips! We always have fortifying meatballs before we start and then it's not quite so awful.

My bump is MASSIVE tonight so we'll see how it goes at work tomorrow. Haven't told them yet and haven't been in a for a week...I'll be 19w6d tomorrow!

RPopz · 01/06/2014 20:18

Haha Wil that is a manly classic. That's up there with "just don't think about it!" I think!! Hmm

I've only had one preggers nap so far. Couldn't sleep that night though so wasn't entirely helpful! Falling asleep on sofa right now but its a bit early for bed....

wilhelmeaner · 01/06/2014 21:11

Yeah I'm thinking it may have been an error. Am normally ready for bed by about 9pm but am totally wide awake!

FurryScoob · 01/06/2014 21:28

I've had 2 naps today Blush but I did spend ages in the garden & then had a carvery for dinner, not a good combination for staying awake all day.

Very jealous of all you ikea shoppers, We don't have one near us.

Good luck with the scans this week minion & juni & enjoy your last few days at work horace

RPopz · 02/06/2014 18:39

I feel disgusting.... but also really want a curry... Not sure what to do for the best in this situation!! Hmm

wilhelmeaner · 02/06/2014 19:05

Oh god I could hardly eat any dinner I feel so sick. The thought of curry 'gies me the boak' as they say in Scotland. I have no clue how I'm going to cope at work tomorrow.

When are the scans ladies, any today?

RPopz · 02/06/2014 19:15

Well its ordered now! Had a backwards day today - was fine this morning but gone downhill since lunchtime. My book says it gets better in week 9... it lied!!!

Nessalina · 02/06/2014 19:36

Have rearranged my scan to 17! Not just because it was on Friday 13th, it would have been tough with work, so now it's actually on the dot of 20 weeks! Fuck that feels like a big number Shock

JuniDD · 02/06/2014 19:51

20 is an exciting number and I hit it tomorrow! Scan on Tuesday.

Told a couple of people at work and they were really surprised, I am hiding it well! It's hilarious as my bump is actually quite big! I will post a pic tomorrow, hehe!

Sorry you're not feeling well wil & rpopz I hope the curry helps!

RPopz · 02/06/2014 20:08

You must be a master of disguise Juni! Well done!

I'm chock full of chips and naan bread now and feeling much better Grin
20 weeks Ness Grin Grin My friend is moving house on Friday the 13th and she's not happy about it!
