Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

April - that's really cute!

I had the silver star team when I had DD

Just a quick thought, does anyone seem to know what size our little beans should be at what stage? I had my scan at 6+6 but beans was already measuring 7mm, which according to my app is 8 weeks... I don't see how I could be further along, or am I having a giant baby?

FrankelInFoal · 09/08/2013 14:19

I'm on Lilac Team. Bean doesn't have a "name" yet but DH keeps referring to it according to its size, so currently I think we're on "Strawberry" Grin

MTB are you sure of when you ovulated? Also my fertility nurse warned me that dating scans have an accuracy of +/-4 days so I wouldn't worry too much.

faithfulandtruthful · 09/08/2013 14:21

MTB the apps use an approximate size, I guess it is based on some sort of average. Each pregnancy is unique I guess if there was a problem the sonographer would have let you know.

MummyPig24 · 09/08/2013 14:25

Dh has been calling the baby "Nando" I don't know why but that's what we refer to it as and will do the whole way through.

My friend called hers Pablo the whole way through, she said she was relieved when it turned out to be a girl because she couldn't get Pablo out of her head!

LyraSilvertongue · 09/08/2013 14:34

DS1 was Bruce throughout my pregnancy because it just sounded so wildly inappropriate. Imagine a tiny newborn baby called Bruce Grin

FrankelInFoal · 09/08/2013 14:35

I've been threatening to call bean "Frank", in honour of my MN name Grin

rescoonetwothree · 09/08/2013 14:38

this one goes by the name........ pease Hmm

lyra me and my bf had the bruce conversation the other day, i love imaging babies with those names, or animals with names like dave.

LyraSilvertongue · 09/08/2013 14:40

Haha, a dog named Dave or a cat named Brenda Grin

Ds1 has a boy in his year at school called Clive. I can't imagine what was going through his mum's mind when she looked at her tiny newborn and decided that Clive would be suitable.

MummyPig24 · 09/08/2013 14:45

My friends mum has a cat called Jane and when we were kids we had a guinea pig called Susan!

MTBMummy · 09/08/2013 15:00

We had cats called Fred and George growing up :-)

Frankel - not 100% sure as I only had one light period after having a MC and then I discovered I was pg - so I guess we could be earlier...

F&T Thanks - I guess I'm worried as DD was big (not huge) and I was hoping for a smaller bean this time

We've not named the bean anything, it'll probably come after the 12 week scan

April13 · 09/08/2013 15:08

apprenticemma thats the name of my team of midwives meaning its highly unlikely i will ever encounter the same midwife twice, but they are all on the same team! She was very proud when she told me!!

I dont have a name for the baby yet, I just refer to it as "the child" I also tell DH at every opportunity how tiring it is making a child :)

MTMummy when I had my scan I thought I was 8+6. They told me I was 8+5 and measuring 20 mm, however when I got another scan two days later i was told I was 22 mm and 8+5 hmmmmm I thought I was 9+1 then. There is chart that gives you sizes and measurements and approximate dates and a formula too I'll post the link. According to my app "the child" is now the size of a lime :)

LyraSilvertongue · 09/08/2013 15:12

Different apps give me different sizes. One says fig, one says prune, one says lime. Confusing

10+5

PramQueen1971 · 09/08/2013 15:16

Frank, I actually wanted to stab Kate Middleton in the tits when she got pregnant, simply because I just knew how gorgeous she would look throughout her pregnancy, with her Wonder Woman mane and safe-but-classy outfits. Her figure is preternaturally slender-yet-athletic and I knew she would make me sick, the bitch. I was right, too: she looked amazing slag

I really love the name Frank. We've chosen Walter for a boy and Queenie or Beatrix for a girl, so I'm really into ancient names. Everyone loathes Queenie but it's tough shit Smile

Ooh, I almost forgot! Prambino was glorious to see on the scan today - I've put the photo in my gallery if you're interested.

April13 · 09/08/2013 15:48

I think I have the same three apps as you lyra :)

IceNoSlice · 09/08/2013 16:24

Walter is a family name for us. It's not my cup of tea but might be a second /middle name if we have 3 boys Grin

Love Queenie though.

Coolhand · 09/08/2013 16:52

Great news on the scan Pram.

rosyryan · 09/08/2013 17:01

Queenie is fabulous. So glad the scan went well Pram. Is the next one your belated12 weeker?

MTB my bean was measuring 8.6mm at 7 weeks so I'm sure yours is a fine size.

PramQueen1971 · 09/08/2013 17:09

Oooh! I'm delighted that Queenie has the thumbs-up from a couple of you Smile My eighteen year-old niece says it's the epitome of chav!

Yes, rosy, my next scan is the dating one which is actually 13+2 for me, 'cos that's when th'usband has time off work. He hasn't been able to come to any of the four scans I've had already. You've got a good memory, rosy.

Pram, 41, 10+3

Sarahb8990 · 09/08/2013 17:24

MTB when I had my scan at 7+4 I was 11mm. I wouldn't worry about size as everyone is different and every pregnancy is different.

As for name me n the husband have been calling it jelly bean or bullet lol. Only because it looked like a jelly bean at my one scan and a bullet on the next haha

Beccadugs · 09/08/2013 17:35

When I had my scan at 7+6 it was 14.9mm

We call it the lobster... Because I've had to come up with lots of cancellation excuses due to being so sick and dodgy seafood was one of them...

PiratesMam · 09/08/2013 17:44

Pram glad the scan was a good 'un! Smile

Dudes I am so dented today. Kids had a playdate and after a big day yesterday too I am destroyed! There has been a LOT of telly today. I could just lie on the floor and go to sleep.

Seriously hoping for some respite over the weekend but think DH has loads of work to do so I'll probs be on more childcare duties.

10 weeks tomorrow!

Rockchick1984 · 09/08/2013 18:00

Glad the scan went well Pram! I quite like the name Queenie, it makes me think of Adrian Mole though - Bert Baxter married an old dear called Queenie :)

We are calling the bean Poppy as it was the size of a poppy seed when we found out I was upduffed. Last pregnancy was Pip (apple pip sized) and DS was Blueberry (can't you tell which 2 were planned pregnancies and which one was a surprise Grin )

Yay it's Friday, DH finishes work in exactly one minute, and I get a lie in tomorrow Grin Grin Grin

SoSurprised · 09/08/2013 18:03

Hi everyone. The thread has really moved on since yesterday! Loving all the names for the beans, especially Bruce.
I haven't vomited again :) but the nausea is still there :(
Is anyone else having mood swings? I feel very teary at the drop of a hat

brightonbeachbaby14 · 09/08/2013 18:38

Happy Friday everyone!

Just had a mega catch up on the thread, Loving the bump names- the lobster especially! We've been calling our bean quiche for some reason, I can't remember where it started... Someone at work has just come back from maternity leave ( she only took 3 months off- she's a horror, I was hoping she may never return) and she's called her baby Echo!! I'm not too keen myself.

Feeling sick as a dog today so have assumed a horizontal position on the couch where I intend to stay all weekend x

apprenticemamma · 09/08/2013 18:39

so surprised....over here! have had terrible mood swings and awful low v dark mood which seemed hormone driven, was even wondering if was developing antenatal depression but at ten weeks cloud is lifting. Been an arse to my dh too Angry oops..So hopefully it will ease hon if this sounds like you. Totes knackered though up since half six and counting down the night garden till ds bed time Wink ...(theme tune used to herald the first glass of pinot grigio lol) x
