Hi all! Providing the ladies who are currently in hospital don't give birth before the last 20 posts in our old thread, we've made it to a new one with babies all still staying put for now!

Here's the stats thread www.mumsnet.com/Talk/antenatal_clubs/a1694946-September-2013-STATS-THREAD

Welcome newbies! If anyone wants to join the FB group (better for sharing documents and pictures), please message myself or jennimoo with your real life name and email address and we can add you to the group!

Ooh congratulations weeble , any names yet?? I think that's 3 boys now isn't it?? Who will have the first girl??

A sweep is worse than a smear waggy in that the finger needs to go in a looong way (actually best not to think about it too much I find!!) but it is over quickly and I find doing yoga breathing helps (I've had a few in my time) my cervix is also backward tilting and they always get me to put my hands into fists under my bottom to get in the right position...

Fraser has had a great 1st day on the planet, he is feeding well and seems very alert yet chilled the rest of the time. Both of his brothers have held him without catastrophe and so far all his GBS tests are coming back fine, although the paediatrician has just announced that we will have to be in until Monday to be on the safe side, they are def covering their asses this time, which is no bad thing of course.

badguider · 16/08/2013 17:38

Yay - is that three happy healthy boys we've had today then?

Gosh, they're coming quick...

WaggyBlueElf · 16/08/2013 17:50

Ooh - who's the third? I'm not on FB so can't see any news posted there...

Thanks for the sweep advice. Think I'll definitely leave it til 41+2, if still necessary then.

RakeABedOfTyneFilth · 16/08/2013 18:01

Congrats weeble!

Waggy, unless it accidentally turns into an ARM, having a sweep doesn't stop you having a water birth and certainly wouldn't stop you labouring in water as pain relief. I had a sweep at 41w first time round and also had the kind of foot massage that goes for your pressure points (can't remember the name!). Laboured in water, but it was in the MLU, and they had time limits and dilation limits - couldn't get in till 3cm I think, and four hours maximum (but getting out to have a poo re-started the clock, happily!)

Welcome Livvy!

WaggyBlueElf · 16/08/2013 18:16

Sorry, I don't think I was clear about sweep / water birth. What I meant was I'll probably go for one at 41+2 (if still necessary) to prevent a 'proper' induction, so I still had a chance of a water birth in those last few days. But as it sounds bloody painful, will give junior that extra week to make his appearance unaided (fingers crossed!) rather than having one at 40+2. But thanks for all the advice, really useful.

Rake I'm not aware of any restrictions like you had - will have to check with midwives. Everything I've heard seems to indicate they're happy to let you stay in the pool for as long as you like. But will remember your methodfor re-setting the clock! Grin

jennimoo · 16/08/2013 18:37

I think that if being in the water seems to slow things down they suggest you get out, and I was threatened with having to get out to make me push the baby out!

dakomponist · 16/08/2013 18:52

How are we going to keep track of the births?

Is it possible to start a separate thread to keep track of all the arrivals? Or do our super spreadsheet ladies have any bright ideas....

jennimoo · 16/08/2013 18:55

I think SJG should be able to make another column to keep track. Is it possible to make the spreadsheet editable by anyone with the link so that we can all help out with the adding?
And we could add to the due date thread with the info too if there are non FBers

MrsMangoBiscuit · 16/08/2013 19:26

I had 2 sweeps with DD1 and found them less painful than smear tests. I've been told during smears that I have a shy cervix that hides at the back, so maybe in late pregnancy it's a little more sociable? Confused

Congratulations Weeble! Flowers

PurplePoppySeed · 16/08/2013 20:15

Can we update our EDD thread with actuals? That way it includes ppl not on FB

Mooster1709 · 16/08/2013 20:36

Massive congratulations weeble and kips! I can't quite believe it!

Mooster1709 · 16/08/2013 20:38

Oh, and I wee all over my hand every time I have to do a sample... But strangely unbothered. This probably makes me disgusting. But I do wash my hands afterwards...

badguider · 16/08/2013 21:08

of course purple - can't believe we didn't think of that...

so today is weeble, kips and does VT from fb have a mn name?

badguider · 16/08/2013 21:13

I've updated the stats thread :)

SGJ · 16/08/2013 21:14

VT is weeblewobble! I've updated the FB spreadsheet, should be easy to see who's popped and who's still waiting, plus all the new baby info.

jennimoo · 16/08/2013 21:16

I think the 3rd person who's popped prefers not to post too much on here to avoid being outed ;)

I'm feeling kind of down now as felt like things were really stepping up and was getting great cobtractions (pains stepping up) while walking round the suoermarhet but its not coming to much. As I wrote this another one has starred though which is a bit stronger so may be they aren't going to just vanish after all... It nearly 2 weeks since this started happening though!
38+4

jennimoo · 16/08/2013 21:19

Looks like I got confused, are there just 2 babies then? I can't keep track at all.

And sorry for those terrible spelling mistakes...

badguider · 16/08/2013 21:25

aha, yes it's d we're waiting to hear from...

Joskar · 16/08/2013 21:49

So exciting about the babies coming! Fingers crossed for everyone.

Went to see the MW yesterday and was offered inducement but I want a water birth too and as there isn't anything wrong with baba I reckon I'll just let Mother Nature do her thing. Head is engaged and all good to go so hopefully won't go miles over the EDD. Desperate to see her/him but also have not finished sorting out the spare room nor have I packed nor has my Mumsnet Babies guide arrived yet!

Weeing on my hand too. Meh, that's what soap is for!

jennimoo · 16/08/2013 21:56

Joskar - sounds like you're sure but must be a tough decision given how much you're suffering :(

Managed to time some contractions and seems just like they were the morning DD was born. Off to bed now so expect will vanish. Would love to wake up early in the morning to full on labour and bring my boy home in time for dinner :)

Readytosettle · 16/08/2013 21:59

joskar might be best to avoid the mumsnet babies guide til after birth anyways....just got to the gory bit....and it is seriously scary reading!!

Derpess · 17/08/2013 00:47

Congrats Weeble!!!!

Megan Elizabeth Jean arrived by c-section at 12:25 followed shortly by her brother Luke Michael James at 12:28.

Luke had some problems and had to go to intensive care and now in SCBU - expecting him to join us on the ward between 2 and 3am. So very emotional and worrying day but I know he is going to be ok. Just want all my little family together now.

They are both gorgeous (proud Mummy alert) - when they're together ill get some pics and put them on my profile.

jennimoo · 17/08/2013 01:10

Congratulations derpress! Hope you're all back together soon.

jennimoo · 17/08/2013 01:46

I've had to get up as seem to be getting stronger pains and couldn't settle. Have done a bit of pacing up and down but watching TV for a bit. Fingers crossed this is it...

OrdinaryGirl · 17/08/2013 01:51

Derpess HUGE congratulations!! Delighted about Megan and Luke - sending Luke healing thoughts and hopes for a swift reunion. Please keep us posted. x Flowers
