Hi all! Providing the ladies who are currently in hospital don't give birth before the last 20 posts in our old thread, we've made it to a new one with babies all still staying put for now!

Here's the stats thread www.mumsnet.com/Talk/antenatal_clubs/a1694946-September-2013-STATS-THREAD

Welcome newbies! If anyone wants to join the FB group (better for sharing documents and pictures), please message myself or jennimoo with your real life name and email address and we can add you to the group!

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
jennimoo · 16/08/2013 09:13

I think it would be hard to make a link with our generation due to the fact that EDD are now based on scans, but I imagine used to be done to mum remembering her dates, and I doubt people knew when they had ovulated.

My mum had me 3 days early and I had my daughter 9 days early though.

JammyTummy · 16/08/2013 09:18

Today I woke up with the notion that this baby is clearly going to end up being late, just to teach me a lesson for being overly prepared overly early.
{postpones everything needing done till last days of August}

LotsaTuddles · 16/08/2013 09:25

Am back. Sorry been really busy. Only just getting back to normal after the wedding tbh.

Now we've been told that we're likely to complete on our house on 13th September, baby's due on 17th. Although, feels like the baby's going to be coming pretty soon, which would be preferable so I don't make a mess on my new carpet as we're living with iLs until our house is done, so they'll be around to help.

Will try and catch up properly later

Mamtodsddonway13 · 16/08/2013 09:29

I wouldn't worry to much about u being early an your little coming early my mam had 5 children all of whom were 4-6 weeks early an on my first he was 3 days late :( they just come when they r ready, congrats to the lady who had a baby boy and good luck to the ones booked in today still a while for me due date 21/09. Hope every1 is well

EmmaDee · 16/08/2013 10:54

wow kips you look amazing, and your wee man is gorgeous! Congratualtions now tuck into some rare steak, gooey cheese and bubbles and let us know how yummy it is!!!

I still have some time to go, not due til 25/09 my mum had me bang on date (15/09) so if it is a family thing then I'm in for the long haul! So jelous though!!

Manoodledo · 16/08/2013 11:28

Congratulations Kips! Lovely name. May have to sort myself out with Facebook just so I can get a squizz at the photo. Am mildly jealous although I promised my mum I wouldn't have the baby till later next weekGrin!

My mum was early with all three of us and she'd had me by this stage. I was a week early with DS1 and a couple of days over with DS2...

JammyTummy · 16/08/2013 11:40

Sorry to keep going back to this- but if it says on my notes in the bits 'fifths palpable- free' does that mean that bub is not at all engaged?

TripleRock · 16/08/2013 12:09

I think so Jammy. Palpable refers to what they can feel through your tummy. Engaged is what's already gone into your pelvis area. Mine says 'free' too and I'm not engaged. This is my 2nd at 35.5

CheeseStrawCraving · 16/08/2013 13:06

Squeeeeee! Congrats kips, heading to Facebook now to nose!! Flowers

Readytosettle · 16/08/2013 13:39

Just went to Pilates & think I may have to call time on that class now....felt sick for most of it & had to adapt pretty much every exercise...nearly walked out halfway through cos I thought I couldn't finish it! Bit grumpy as I feel it's been doing really good things for my pelvic floor/core strength. I'm 34+4 and it's not a special preggo class.

Has anyone else kept going longer? Or any suggestions for a good alternative?

weebarra · 16/08/2013 14:38

Yes, I'm not engaged at all either. Neither of the other ones did until labour started.

SGJ · 16/08/2013 14:59

Amidst all this lovely talk of babies, I must now lower the tone and share my most recent glorious pregnancy moment with you: I basically just urinated all over my own hand.
Was trying to get a sample for my 38 wk appt but I can't see over my bump anymore when on the loo. Not my most glamorous moment!

OrdinaryGirl · 16/08/2013 15:38

SGJ ALL the foot-softening creams you can buy have urea in. Think of it as an extreme but accidentally performed beauty ritual dwalink!

OrdinaryGirl · 16/08/2013 15:40

Tip: wee in pint measure, then decant to sample pot.
NB. Crucial to success of this is not telling anyone who ever uses pint measure.

SGJ · 16/08/2013 16:07

My hands have been quite dry recently! I should have done it in the same cup I've been using for all wee samples and both pregnancy tests but was running late... have learnt my lesson!
Appointment went well - no issues at all. Next appt is at 40+2...

weeblewobbling · 16/08/2013 16:50

Well done Weeble! Massive congrats, wishing you a speedy recovery.

And welcome Livvy!

WaggyBlueElf · 16/08/2013 17:02

I've been doing that for months SGJ - seem completely incapable of aiming and only think about a larger implement to wee into when I'm actually sitting there. You'd think I'd have learned by now, but no.

Had my 38 week apt today and baby's in the right position but stubbornly unengaged. The MW said she'd do a stretch and sweep next time (at 40+2, if I get that far), anyone had one of those? How much does it hurt?! Given that whenever I have a smear it REALLY hurts and the nurse complains that my cervix is in the wrong place I'm not sure it's a procedure I'll particularly enjoy. Might give junior til 41+2 before going down that road, as I would like a water birth and they won't let me have one if I have to be induced.

Huge congratulations to kips and good luck to everyone else who's having babies today. Can't wait to hear your news! ( I know I'm utterly rubbish at posting on here but I do keep up with the news Smile

WaggyBlueElf · 16/08/2013 17:05

Cross post with weeble - congratulations! Lovely news.

JammyTummy · 16/08/2013 17:08

Yay congrats to Weeble!!! One more baby boy! Sooooo exciting!

Waggy I don't think a sweep counts as a 'proper' induction so you should still be able to have your water birth (someone correct me if I'm wrong please). My next MW is also 40+2 and I'm definitely asking for a sweep if I'm still there to see her.

JammyTummy · 16/08/2013 17:09

(And I'm also planning for a water birth).

jennimoo · 16/08/2013 17:17

Congrats weeble! Another boy!

I'm hoping to be joining in soon: cramps and strong tightenings again but probably a false alarm. Have managed to get my mum to head off and been walking round asda for a hour so will see if anything kicks off. Tomorrow is when DD arrived...
38+4

RunningBear78 · 16/08/2013 17:30

Congratulations weeble, hope you have a swift recovery and yr little man is doing well.

Nice one sgj that is pretty special! Hope these midwives realise what we put ourselves through! My best was seeing on the belt attached to my shorts. No idea how I managed it, but was v pleased to be at home for a speedy rinse :)

Hi livvy !!
