Hi all! Providing the ladies who are currently in hospital don't give birth before the last 20 posts in our old thread, we've made it to a new one with babies all still staying put for now!

Here's the stats thread www.mumsnet.com/Talk/antenatal_clubs/a1694946-September-2013-STATS-THREAD

Welcome newbies! If anyone wants to join the FB group (better for sharing documents and pictures), please message myself or jennimoo with your real life name and email address and we can add you to the group!

:-)

Wow, good luck everyone tomorrow xx

CharlW1 · 15/08/2013 21:53

Good luck to those having c sections or being induced tomorrow - will be crossing everything for you and looking forward to hearing about the arrivals Flowers

jennimoo · 15/08/2013 22:09

Weeble - try to focus on the fact that things will almost certainly be fine and this time tomorrow you'll be cuddling your gorgeous little baby. I'm sure that doesn't help but we'll all be thinking of you. X

Jammy - doesn't matter if they're engaged, DD wasn't at all a couple of days before she decided to be born so doesn't necessarily mean anything. Cephaloc is head down and I think longitudinal is just straight so I think that's optimum position :)

Derpess · 15/08/2013 22:17

Weeble- just had my pre op meds too! I'm allowed to eat until midnight not hungry at the moment but have some supplies that I'll probably have about 11ish.

I'm feeling better than earlier- dont think I'll get much sleep as there are lots of ladies on the ward in the early stages of labour so it's quite noisy! Actually even if it was quiet I probably wouldn't sleep as I'm too hyped up.

weeblewobbling · 15/08/2013 22:23

Is everyone here on fb???that's probably where I'll update as its easier than this site on mobile.

My bp and pulse were up this evening!

I thought would be allowed water after midnight but been told no:-(no I've got a rotten cold today so rather attractively breathing thru mouth so throat is dry!

weeblewobbling · 15/08/2013 22:24

Annnnd 2 hours before emcs I had sandwiches, crisps etc! Lucozade.....

OrdinaryGirl · 15/08/2013 22:36

weeble and derpess - sending warm thoughts to you both ahead of tomorrow. Not sure if you're on the Facebook group but will post a message there too.
Remember you are going in with the awesome combined vibes of all these amazing MNers, and the echoes of all of your female ancestors through history cheering you on - that's a lot of firepower. Wishing you excellent sleep and that you wake with all the chutzpah you need in the morning. Flowers

Feeling emotional at the thought of our mn friends having their babies tomorrow! What ordinarygirl said!

To Go all a bit me me me, in additional to feeling emotional for you two in feeling bitterly emotional for myself. My sister had this week moved to they other side of London over 45 horrible miles away and my best friend who lives a couple of miles away has just put an offer in on a house well over 45 minutes away in the middle of nowhere. I hate driving and am gutted that just when I feel emotionally vulnerable people seem to disappearing on me. Especially as the friend was v unexpected (just got married, no deposit for a house... wasn't going to consider buying until next year.... seemed happy in this neck of the wood) and my sister is Marrying someone we don't really like on Saturday.

Someone save me from thinking about this stuff,I'm a mess.

TripleRock · 16/08/2013 08:00

Yay Kips! Massive congratulations!

And good luck to the other ladies expecting today.

My due dates not until 15/9 and DD was 11 days over so no reason to expect much excitement here any time soon...

35+5

frogchops · 16/08/2013 08:38

Anyone have any reason to believe that maternal birth (as in, wether mummy turned up early/late) has anything to do with when to expect? Possibly a clutching at straws excercise but when I was due (coincidently the 18/9) I turned up 24 days early. Anyone think the two may correlate? I'm panicking I know Blush

badguider · 16/08/2013 09:05

Good question frog - I just had a look on pubmed and there are quite a few studies from around 2006 onwards on the topic of genetics and pre-term (before 37wk) birth. They seem to conclude that there is family and racial effects on the likelihood of pre-term birth but none of the studies are able to say how or why... and one instance (you) does not make a family tendency - you'd have to ask around more to see if you were an anomoloy or part of a pattern in your family.

Factors such as "infectious, nutritional, behavioral, and other environmental contributions" are more important than genetic ones so if there was ever any cause for you being early identified that will mean it's less likely to be genetic.
