Sweetie, I had a section for DS and yes you will still need pads. Also, you'll need some big old granny pants to come up over your scar.

I still lurk here, can't stay away! Grin

RubberBullets · 07/09/2013 18:53

I think the bleeding after is due to the wound created by the placenta coming away. If you have a c-section then I think that part of it can be stitched up to help healing but there will still be some blood loss. My friend had one and didn't have anywhere near as much bleeding as me but I'm not sure how much of that was due to the difference in birth. When you see the size of the placenta you can understand why there is so much blood :o

GenericDietCola · 08/09/2013 07:48

Thats right, Rubber. I had less bleeding after my section than after my vb, but still needed the mega pads.

cartoontrickster · 08/09/2013 09:21

pram shopping yesterday just threw more options in the bag!

SweetieTime · 08/09/2013 17:30

Maybe I don't want to break it to you be the middle of night toilet breaks get no better. I have to get up at least 2 times each night and then struggle to get back to sleep. The erotic dream do ease off though.

Trix so what is on the pram short list now? It is nice to consider all the options.

Ladies thanks for the c-section tips, just in case, I have started a list of things. Big granny pants - check, maternity pads - check, cheap flannels - check.

Well London was great, fab weekend with DH. That is us done with weekends away, other than the Brookers meet up for me. I have my growth scan tomorrow morning so I will be interested to see how much they have grown in 4 weeks. If my bump is anything to go by I would say quite a bit of growing has gone on. I have a list of things to ask the consultant or whoever we get to see including about birth options/plan and my non-gripping hands. I am hoping they will give me the form that work needs for my mat leave.

Hope everyone else has had a lovely weekend too.

keepitgoing · 08/09/2013 21:30

sweetie good luck for tomorrow, hope they have a plan for your hands. We have a scan late afternoon too, and my anti d injections.

What a short weekend, and busy week coming up.

EverythingIsTicketyBoo · 08/09/2013 21:51

Ooh scans tomorrow, very exciting! Brooking for you both Keep and Sweetie :):)

Your weekend away sounds amazing Sweetie I hope they find a solution for your hands.

Getting very excited about the meet up Grin

Trix Charlie was amazing, we were sat quite far back but really enjoyed it. I think I enjoyed Matilda slightly more but both were extremely high standard.

Scan went well, both twins were both still there, I always am shocked that there are 2 in there. They have both moved, as I had thought, and are head down but apparently up until 33 week will still have enough room to turn quite easily. Estimate weight of boy twin is 1lb 7oz and girl twin is 1lb 5oz. I have to go back in 4 weeks time. I did ask about my hands and birth plan both of which were dismissed. I am going to write a birth plan on post its and stick in the page in my notes to discuss with twins midwife, who I haven't met yet, for next visit. Dr did try to re-assure saying only 5% of twins come before 28-30 weeks.

keepitgoing · 09/09/2013 15:20

sweetie yay, great news that they are both doing well, and a good weight as well! I can't believe that they just dismissed your hands issue. Can you just give your midwife a call? When will you see the special twins midwife? I think you're a bit previous with your birth plan. I mean, if they were to come super early then any birth plan would be pretty much irrelevant, so I wouldnt' worry about that for now, but I am shocked that they are not being at all helpful about your hands, you poor thing.

My scan is at 4.30, and blood tests and injections for anti D and the like. I just got back from work, traffic was dreadful today though. And then this evening we have NCT again, so I'll be totally knackered. Luckily tomorrow I am working from home and going to the dentist. Has everyone remembered that you should go to the dentists during pregnancy, as you are more likely to get gingivitis (inflamed gums) and there is some evidence that this leads to preterm birth (not that likely) and also bleeding gums etc. Best to get a scrub up.

I'm really looking forward to the meet up too. boo will ToddlyBoo be coming as well as BabyBoo?

I'm thinking of surprising DH with a weekend away at some time in late October. My plan is just to set up the sat nav and put us in the car and make him drive us to where it says. Although we are quite busy I think it would be nice to go somewhere just us.

sweetie we are going to see Jesus Christ Superstar in B/ham next month. I LOVE musicals. Has Mathilda finished?

Anyway, gotta dash. Hope all the others are ok. solars are you just really busy with work at the moment?

cartoontrickster · 09/09/2013 16:52

wow sweetie how can they tell the weights of them? good news for your scan I'm always in awe of the fact that you've got 2. its amazing.
did everyone know its 3 for 2 on baby stuff in boots at the moment. its very tempting as the maxi cosi car seat, base and one of the prams I like and all the bits that go with are included so I could save myself well over 100 quid. I doubt dh will let me get the pram though, I guess it is rather early. but I may see if there's any other bits.

Kip is very well too, at 1.3kg :) I'm back to the midwife now :)

trix thanks for the boots tip!

keepitgoing · 09/09/2013 18:41

Oh, trix they use head and tummy circumference and femur length to estimate weight.

keepitgoing · 09/09/2013 18:48

Are those sleeping bag things ok from birth? I think I've heard they aren't but they sell them as newborns. I'm so confused...

NoMaybeAboutIt · 09/09/2013 20:23

Keep and Sweetie, so pleased scans went so well! Can they give you estimated birth weights by measuring things?

Sorry no one seemed to listen Sweetie. Hopefully your midwife will be lovely Smile

Glad you've gt a short list Trix!

Keep, what freebies have you got?!

The sleeping bags confuse me too. They are suitable from birth, but it depends on the birth weight. And all the makes are suitable from different birth weights. Too many things to remember Confused

RubberBullets · 09/09/2013 20:25

It is minimum weight so some babies will fit in from birth and some won't. IIRC it is around 8lb something. DD wasn't long before she went in them, she just wore a vest underneath it for most of the summer.

Solars · 09/09/2013 23:08

What great scan news Sweetie & Keep so very pleased to hear things are coming along well for you both.

Sweetie I hope someone can help with your hands, it seemed crazy that they ignored the issue!

Keep I went to the dentist for a check up a few weeks ago and hoping I can manage to go again just before I pop. I have been having bleeding gums ever since I hit the 12 week mark! I have had a very busy long weekend with this family wedding and today I was indeed busy with work.

I had my midwife appointment on Thursday and my fundal measurement was good and I got to hear the heartbeat again too which was lovely. I now need to decide on which nct course I want to go on. Also I can't believe this happened but I vomited on Sunday. Because of the wedding I didn't get a chance to stock up on essentials so come Sunday we were on our last drop of milk. We both had a lie in as we were very late coming back from the reception, I asked DH to go to the shops whilst I got ready, but the silly moo didn't and said he wanted us both to go together. Anyway this meant I had had nothing to eat all morning. We went to a local co-op and as we were walking through the shop I started feeling quesy, said to DH you finish up as I needed to go out for some fresh air, went out and I vomited outside the co-op Blush I couldn't believe it but luckily all that came out was water as that was all I'd had that morning, I ran to the car as there were tissues in there and then vomited another 3 times outside the car Blush As soon as we got home I ate. Thankfully I've not felt the same way since! I get now why they say to constantly eat!

Sorry for the long winded anecdote, I hope everyone else is well and will hopefully keep up better from now on x

NoMaybeAboutIt · 09/09/2013 23:15

Oh Solars you poor thing. Hope you're feeling much better now Thanks

How did the wedding go? Are we allowed some photos? Smile so please your mw appointment went well. Must be lovely to hear the heartbeat! When is your next scan?

Solars · 10/09/2013 08:11

I am much better thanks Maybe how are you doing? Are things easing up? Wedding was tiring but fun, I'll try and put some pics up on my profile later on today. I have my 20 week scan in 3 weeks time. What's next for you? Is it 12 week scan for you soon?

In fact what's up and coming for everyone? I'm losing track.

NoMaybeAboutIt · 10/09/2013 09:35

That's good Solars Smile

Cannot wait to see some pics! And not talk long till your next scan. Where is the time going?!

I'm 12 weeks today, and scan is on Friday. I didn't think it could be possible, but I am feeling worse now than last week. The GP has told me to go back next week and she will sign me off again. It's so bad now that I can't sleep either, which then just makes it worse again. But it will pass Wink

I watched my first American OBEM last night. Twas an eye opener Grin

How is everyone else today?

keepitgoing · 10/09/2013 11:41

oh god maybe this is just not fair. After all we've been to to get pregnant we should have breezy pregnancies, in my book! But the main thing is that Finn is ok and you're right, that this will pass. And SOON! Are you managing to keep any food down? Managing to enjoy your time off at all, or just feeling too rubbish.

solars you naughty thing, you must eat breakfast. I'm surprised it made you sick though, I thought it'd just make you weak at that stage. Hey ho, let this be a warning to us all. I'm always starving in the mornings I must say, and porridge and berries is A mazing. So pleased you got to hear the heartbeat. Isn't it lovely?

Oh, the freebies with the bounty pack were sudocrem, simple moisturiser, one nappy, a hooded towel thing, some ovaltine, and some panty liners (i was very confused as they are very thin. But I now think they must be for during pregnancy, rather than post birth when you need the mammoth ones). Better than the first bounty pack. If you sign up for Boots family club, and then buy nappies, supposedly you get a free changing bag, but I've not had my voucher through yet.

trix kiddicare sale has been extended for another week, so still 15% off £100. Basically do not ever buy anything full price. It's a joke really.

So yesterday was (hopefully) the last time we see Kip till s/he's born! I totted up and we had 7 scans during this pregnancy - at 5, 7, 9, 13, 20, 25, 28 weeks. DH is always fascinated to see the anatomy geek. I also get a little embarrassed with him at NCT classes as he raises his eyebrows at some of the things the lady says... Luckily he's not said anything yet. Last night was the second stage of labour (ie the pushing bit). Now that was a bit scary. I would say my bump is the smallest, but as we'd just had our scan and knew all is ok I managed not to mind. I was wearing my lovely slimming black Isabella Oliver ebay dress, so maybe that was it.

Anyway, enough blathering I am off to work

ThedementedPenguin · 10/09/2013 12:24

keep the bounty pack was way better this time than when I was preggers with ds. I got two so I have double of everything.

Have you picked up your Emma's diary pack from Argos? It's not great but you get mini Johnsons stuff.

keep the changing bag from boots is actually very good. I have 3 different ones and I usually resort back to it. It's not huge but fitted everything I needed for ds.

maybe hope you are feeling better soon. I think usually it passes around 12-13 weeks so I'm brooking it happens very soon for you.

What time is your scan on Friday? Mines at 9.15am so plenty of scan news on Friday. I can't wait to see Pingu again.

NoMaybeAboutIt · 10/09/2013 12:28

Oooh, Keep goodies! I love a freebie I didn't get a bounty pack at my booking in appointment. Not sure if they will give me one on Friday Glad your NCT is going well and that MrK is managing to bite his lip Grin Are you finding it helpful? Am I right in thinking it was you that was considering hypnobirthing?

I'm not enjoying time off if I am honest, though it is so much better than being in work. I can hardly get out of bed at the moment, so being off is much better Smile.

Can I ask you wise brookers a question? Yesterday and today I have had a weird sensation really low down. It's in the same place that it would normally burn with a UTI, but it feels more like a stitch. Not an 'ow' pain, but its really uncomfortable. Is it just stretching, or could it be the start of a UTI? Really don't want to bother GP again if its just another growing pain.

Oooh, and there is good news over with the brookers..... Grin

NoMaybeAboutIt · 10/09/2013 12:30

Sorry Pen, cross posts! I'm up at 12.30, so not too long to wait! I'm 12 weeks today and it is getting worse. But as they say, everything must get worse before it gets better no?! Wink

How are you feeling now?

GreenOlives · 10/09/2013 13:26

Great scan news sweetie and keep! Grin Those 3 little babies will be here before you know it!
Sounds like London was great sweetie, I really want to see Charlie!
And keep I would def do the weekend away with DH. I think it's really important to make the most of the remaning bit of 'couple' time before kip arrives and you become a family of 3 Smile
maybe hope you feel better soon lovely - you have my full sympathy! Good luck for scan on Friday - and you too pen!
And solars don't be too embarrassed about the vomiting incident - I've christened many a carpark, street corner etc, etc. DH used to say it was like I was marking my territory! Grin Regular breakfasts for you from now on!
And trix that 3 for 2 sounds too good to miss, you need to persuade DH!
All tired good here, T is being a model baby and fab sleeper at the moment. His big brother though appears to have given up sleep Shock < that's me yawning! Grin
