The one where hopefully we are feeling less nauseous and knackered (although we develop hippo hands and feet due to the heat!), we are entering or are in our second trimester (phew!), we continue with 12 week scans and test results (ekkk!), we have 16 week midwife appointments and hear the heartbeat (OMG - aw!), we potentially see the beginnings of bumps and feel the first flutters of movement (wow!) and the 20 week scan for some is just around the corner! Grin

Oh and we try to improve our diets after surviving on one food group during the first trimester!!! Wink

Bring it on thread 7!!!

(pod hope I did you proud)!

penny goods luck to your DP!
The mitts have never made my leg hair grow back stubbly, so I figure it should be fine!

enormouse thats so annoying!

Penny31 · 24/07/2013 19:01

I might try the mitt thing on my legs, I've never thought about trying that method before!

MrsRApilot · 24/07/2013 19:13

enormouse that's so irritating that UU won't accept that. Although at least you can add a module. I was at SERC Bangor campus. I was doing combined Science (Biol, Chem, American lit, Sociology) found the course brilliant and loved the teachers. Those are all brilliant choices - I don't know how you'd ever decide between them all. :-)

TobyLerone · 24/07/2013 19:53

Re Kiddicare, there is a big one in Lakeside, apparently. We might go next week because they have all 3 of the prams we're interested in.

I looked at a Stokke Xplory today, which wasn't even on my radar, but which I fell madly in love with! The other 2 I am interested in are the Babystyle Oyster (my sister has one and it's great) and the Jané Trider Matrix. I'm also planning to get a Moby wrap.

I am jealous of the puppy talk. DH says no!

And I'm sorry for those who are still feeling/being sick. It's rubbish :(

enormouse · 24/07/2013 20:28

Toby I'm getting buggy envy again! Smile

MrsRA I have to admit I've found UU slightly arsey to deal with (not answering phones, emails, generally unhelpful switchboard) but I'm keen on the course as it looks really interesting and practical for commuting etc. Though I may change my mind a lot before then.
Are you going into year 1 or year 2 of your degree? Your access sounds like a great mix of subjects.

enjoyingscience · 24/07/2013 20:44

Ooh toby the stokke is so pretty, isn't it.

On the topic of slings, we used a calin bleu (one piece of cloth wrap sling thing). It looked complicated at first, but I loved it so much once I got the hang.

I see all of your hairy bellies (which I also have) and raise you pube migration halfway down your thighs. Seriously, if this carries on I will look like a gorilla by January.

I haven't bought anything at all yet. I feel weird about it this time - maybe I'm still in denial! Will do a shop after the 20 week scan I think. I need to sort out all of DS' old things too (which will make me cry for hours, so I'm putting it off as long as possible).

Mythreeknights · 24/07/2013 20:47

Humpty that's fine - no pressure at all!! It's been sitting around in my study since 2010 so a few more weeks or months won't matter. And no worries in the slightest if you are worried about buying second hand and prefer to buy new - I won't be in the slightest bit offended. I wouldn't have contemplated buying second hand for my first child but ironically I wouldn't contemplate buying new for DS2 or this baby!

MrsGSR · 24/07/2013 20:48

My stomach is a bit red, I'm glad DH is away until Friday, hopefully by then it will be normal colour or I'll have thought of an excuse that doesn't involve me turning into a werewolf...

BookTart · 24/07/2013 21:32

penny I do have a sore belly button, but I think it is because I have a horrible scar in mine where they removed my gallbladder.

Good luck for your lesson enormouse!

I finally got my combined test results and they are much better than I could have hoped for. DP is very relieved, his brother has DS and it was pretty much his worst nightmare I think. I also called midwife liaison and they made my midwife promise to call tomorrow, so things are looking much better.

Oh, and now I have a bad upset stomach as well. Not sure if it is better or worse than the constipation yet!

AnotherStitchInTime · 24/07/2013 21:35

Hello all, can I join please?

Found out a week and a half ago that I am pregnant with my third child.

After an emergency booking in appointment and scan today they have worked out I am 13+1 weeks and due on the 28th of January.

TarkaTheOtter · 24/07/2013 22:04

Wow Another, what a surprise! Congratulations and welcome!

My antental clinic appt at the hospital was delayed by over an hour today and I'd stupidly taken my toddler with me. I then had to wait in the hospital pharmacy for 30mins. Was disastrous - I went through a whole pack of rice cakes and two boxes of raisins as bribes. And they wonder why my blood pressure was raised!
On the plus side the appointment went ok, heard the heartbeat and was prescribed metformin to lower my blood sugar so should be able to eat more. Also told I'll have monthly growth scans and will be induced at 38 weeks again. I'm 38 weeks on New Years Eve so will aim for first baby of 2014!

TarkaTheOtter · 24/07/2013 22:06

ooh and I just bought loads of colourful asos clothes as all my old maternity clothes look like I was dressing for a funeral.

AnotherStitchInTime · 24/07/2013 22:18

Thanks Tarka, a New Years Day baby perhaps? Has ASOS got some good maternity clothes in then? Mine need an overhaul.

The joy of dragging other children to endless maternity appointments wore very thin today with me too.

Dd2 (17 months) is teething with a temperature, so very miserable, she had fallen asleep just before my scan appt. Good timing I thought. It was not to be. Another small child had a meltdown and woke her up. She then sobbed uncontrollably for the whole scan and kept crying on and off until we finally managed to escape after my blood was taken. Raisins were thrown on the floor, nothing helped :( Luckily dd1 (4 years) was exceptionally well behaved otherwise I might have had a meltdown myself.

MrsGSR · 24/07/2013 22:33

Welcome another!

I've been looking at maternity clothes this week, trying to compile a 'capsule wardrobe' for summer. I have a habit of buying impulsively and then finding nothing looks right together Angry

TarkaTheOtter · 24/07/2013 23:24

Asos had a large selection which makes a nice change from the three or four things most other places stock. Lots of promising things but never bought from there before so not sure about quality. Was quite cheap though for maternity.

Toothfairy78 · 24/07/2013 23:40

Evenin' all,

Just having a swift catch up before bedtime.

another welcome! What an amazing surprise!

So you ladies are feeling hairy, headachey, dodgy in the tummy today?

Can I add rage and intolerance to the list? I seem to have been surrounded by morons at work today. Have felt like a beacon in a sea of idiots! It hasn't helped with the dull headache/ head cold thing I've got going. Glad my boss is sympathetic!

In other news, it looks like there's a kiddicare opening up near me in Hayes.

Anyway, think I might chill down with some knitting before I go to sleep...

Good luck with the driving lesson enormouse!

TobyLerone · 25/07/2013 00:20

enjoying, I haven't bought anything yet either.

book, glad you finally got your results. What a relief :)

Hi another :o What a lovely surprise!

Tarka, I'm looking likely to have this baby in 2012, rather than 2013. If things continue as they are, they'll make a call on whether the baby has enough room to grow and probably CS me accordin

TobyLerone · 25/07/2013 00:22

FFS stupid fat fingers.

...CS me accordingly. Latest will be 39 weeks, which is about 29th Dec. Bloody crap body!

I do not have a hairy belly. I have never had one in my life and I don't plan on starting now. I know my sister did, though.

MrsRApilot · 25/07/2013 00:22

enormouse gosh they don't sound particularly nice at all but if it's the course you want then go for it. I'm just starting in September, not the best timing but after 3 years of trying for this baby and being told it would never happen it was the beat surprise. Will just have to try and juggle as beat I can lol.

Welcome another :-)

AnotherStitchInTime · 25/07/2013 06:38

You might have a Christmas baby Toby, how exciting :)

I am also due to be studying this year. All booked to do an MSc in Environmental Geology. Luckily they have a distance learning version of the course so I can fit it around being a SAHM. It is going to be hard though, juggling it all.

leelteloo · 25/07/2013 06:50

Hello everyone;
Do you mind if I join? I have been staying away from anti natal threads until I was sure everything was ok.
This is my 3rd. I have dd nearly 4 & ds 10 months. Baby is due 27th January and I have had scan and score back and all looking good.
I have been terribly tired and feeling sick continuously for the last 5 weeks but just starting to feel better now. I am also starting to retain water, lovely, so fingers like sausages & wedding rings put away.
I will be having a c section as last two were breach due to pelvic disproportion. Not looking forward to it already and have no idea how I will manage my massive ds after the surgery, he already weighs 25 lbs! I think this is another ds.
Look forward to taking this journey with you all.

TobyLerone · 25/07/2013 06:59

Hi leel :) Welcome to the thread!

Naturegirl82 · 25/07/2013 07:22

Hi to all the newbies.

Tarka have you taken metformin before? Did they warn you about the side effects? I usually take it for my pcos and insulin resistance but came off it when got my bfp.

So we are definitely getting the puppy, picking her up on Sunday, eek. Smile

TarkaTheOtter · 25/07/2013 07:39

Hi leel glad everything's ok and you're starting to feel human again.

Nature I took it with dd and didn't really get any side effects so hoping for the same this time. Will be very annoyed if it brings the nausea back when I just escaped it though! TBH my sugars are so high at the moment that I think I will progress to insulin pretty quickly.

extracrunchy · 25/07/2013 09:32

Hi everyone! Just dropping in to say I'm back from hols and will catch up shortly. Hope all's well.

DH seems a bit more steady for having had some time away.

ALSO we went for a cheeky private scan while in the US so my dad could be a bit involved (we don't see him much as he lives there and it seemed like a nice idea) and found out we're having a little girl Smile
