The one where hopefully we are feeling less nauseous and knackered (although we develop hippo hands and feet due to the heat!), we are entering or are in our second trimester (phew!), we continue with 12 week scans and test results (ekkk!), we have 16 week midwife appointments and hear the heartbeat (OMG - aw!), we potentially see the beginnings of bumps and feel the first flutters of movement (wow!) and the 20 week scan for some is just around the corner! Grin

Oh and we try to improve our diets after surviving on one food group during the first trimester!!! Wink

Bring it on thread 7!!!

(pod hope I did you proud)!

Puppy was adorable, just over 7 weeks old. Cavalier King Charles, I've wanted one since I was little. Dh loved her as well. She will be 8 weeks at the weekend, hoping we can pick her up Sunday if not it will be Monday evening. I absolutely adore her but am petrified about the commitment and responsibility. Will be good to have her trained before bean arrives though.

I too am part of the headache crew. Hoping an early night will help.

Mac2014 · 23/07/2013 21:58

sultana book tarka thanks my dears!

This is just the start of years of worrying, bump had better be worth it Grin xx

fryingpantoface · 23/07/2013 22:53

mrsvdb I'm obese too. I weighed 14 stones 8 when I got pregnant, now I weigh just under a stone and a half less. I figure the baby is ok, well, I hope. I heard the heartbeat again with the Doppler this morning, it was kicking it! That made me smile

Bluecarrot · 23/07/2013 23:10

Hello everyone :)

I had the first Ergo with my DD and liked it, but sold it on a few years back and will try other types before buying another! My first sling is likely to be the Moby or Boba. DP v nervous about using one so might have a good excuse to buy 2 slings! We have a sling library meet nearby so will go to a meeting or two before bubs is due.

We plan to use cloth right from the start and Im still researching them. With DD I used Motherease and Nappies By Minki. Will def use Minki again, but will be going to a cloth nappy meet later in the year and renting a few types for the main nappies at the start before investing.

For car seat Im thinking of a lie flat one that baby can also sleep in overnight when we go to visit the in laws.
Im also liking the Cybex Sirona - its an extended rear facing seat and it swivels so you can turn it to face you when putting the child in the seat. Unfortunately, our current car (which may change before baby comes) doesnt have isofix.....

Im wondering what books people are reading atm? All my pregnancy info comes from online and DPs pregnancy for men book. For the birth Im doing Natal Hypnotherapy CDs and reading Maggie Howells (The Natal Hypnotherapy lady!) book plus one by Shelia Kitzinger (recommended by a friend).

Fuls · 23/07/2013 23:30

Hi all
I had an emergency scan last night (thank god I work in maternity hospital) everything was fine! Baby looked like they were sitting and waving at me lol they couldn't see where I bled from and there was no active bleeding phew the relief was overwhelming. Hopefully I can enjoy my pregnancy now (that is until I get my quad test results lol)

TobyLerone · 24/07/2013 06:48

Good news, Fuls :)

Blue, I'm thinking about cloth nappies too, but probably not right from the start. There are so many types! My brain gets easily confused Blush

HabitualHobbyist · 24/07/2013 08:57

Good morning, it's been a while since I last posted but RL has kind of taken over. I'm currently 15+2 (I had my dates put back by 10 days after my first scan) so felt like I was stuck in limbo for ages. The good news is I got a 2nd scan out of it.

Wishing my nausea would kindly sod off as mornings are a pain in the backside (although in a stange way it's nice to be reminded that everything is ok).

I had to smile at the comments about hairy bellies. I'm (unfortunately) rather hairsuit at the best of times, so it's nice to welcome other people to my world Wink !

On a really positive note, DH is being fab, DM has turned into a one-woman knitting factory (so no chance of bump going cold for first 3 years) and DMiL (who has just broken up for summer hols) has offered to help around the house whilst we're at work as she knows I'm still quite tired and struggling with heat.

littlealien01 · 24/07/2013 09:01

hello,

who else is still vomiting? i seem to be getting worse rather than better. couldnt keep anything down this morning and am currently feeling sorry for myself and wondering how ill get through the day at work. another 25 wks seems a very long time. its probably just punishment for pigging out on chinese last night when the nausea finally subsided but still.keep trying to tell myself its just baby telling us theyre healthy.

pram wise we spent last wkend hunting and learning. i really like the joolz day, hoping to have another look at it this wkend. has anyone else looked at this one? havent started on slings yet tho so reading with interest.

Sultanajo · 24/07/2013 09:35

MrsGSR thought you would be comforted to know my "bump" has done a deflating act again this morning, after being massive last night. Of course I am trying not to freak out and panic calm and collected because it has happened before and know it's probably normal. Grin

Nature Cavi's are sooooo scrummy! Very jealous of all the puppy cuddles you are going to be getting. Just get it socialised at puppy classes as soon as you can (normally OK to start after first vaccination) and you will be well on your way to having a happy pooch!

Great news Fuls - really hope you can start to relax a bit now...

Really sorry some of you are still really nauseous/vomming. Hoping you all feel better in the next week!

Wow - it's really interesting reading about all your experiences/thoughts on prams and slings. I am kind of sold on the caboo DX sling which I have found £10 cheaper on two websites, so I think we may well go for it! Just need to talk to DH about it....

We have workmen round this morning and I have shut myself away upstairs. Really want to go downstairs to get another drink, but I look shocking as they arrived before I had even bathed, let alone tackled my scary hair and face! Gonna have to wait until they have gone I think... feeling very wussy today!

keskiviikko · 24/07/2013 10:04

Nature we got a puppy weeks before I fell pregnant. I believe that every child should have at least one animal to grow up around. They are good exercise, you don't look so silly walking the streets at 6 in the morning or 9 at night with a dog! Think he's why I haven't gained any weight.

I'm still retching, but the stress headache has gone. Mac I know how you feel, but you are going to get to see baby a lot more than some people. I had a month of seeing Bob every week and getting updates on his growth. I've been told I have to have them regularly after 28 weeks because I am such a mahoosive fatty (obs doctor in a nasty bitch). on that note I'm going to munch on a satsuma while still wearing my pre pregnancy size 16's! Grin

HumptyDumptyBumpty · 24/07/2013 10:54

book Def phone and chase - as I found, care in your area may not be totally joined up. Don't feel bad for chasing, you need to. Everyone I've spoken to when I've checked things (v politely) has been lovely!

Mac no advice, I'm afraid, but a hand to hold if you get too stressed, lovely. I'm SURE it will be fine.

Toby Grrrrrrr to stupid cuntpuffin fibroids Angry. Shall we reassemble the hormonal flash mob Grin? Headache wise, the cool packs work (I have a wheat one you can freeze as well as microwave) as does the 4Head stick (I was v sceptical, but it 'cools' somehow and helps, also smells very minty and refreshing). Also cold foot baths, and icelollies. Freeze that headache out.

frying I'm still eating less, for sure. Haven't been weighed again since 12wks, but I'm pretty sure I've put on v little weight. I was BMI of 32 at booking in though, so I'm pretty sure the bean can live off my flubber Grin. My MUM is starting to worry about me, which is unheard of - I've been pleasingly rounded since I was 15, so she's always gone the other way, if anything (very gently, I hasten to add!) It's weird having her say 'well, you will have to put on weight'!

nature PUPPPPPPYYYYY!!!!

Bikey I have no idea about prams either. Planning a day in John Lewis trying them all out at some point soon, I think! Or Mothercare, or similar.

blue I want to go cloth as well - have read something somewhere about the different kinds, see if I can find it. It's quite instructive. Are you in an area that gets a grant/similar for using cloth? Some do see?

fuls yay for waving babies!

Hello everyone else! Phew!

Had a shitty day yesterday - fell out with a good friend who posted on fb that she 'didn't care' about the royal baby, took it WAY too personally. Hopefully now resolved. Also DH had what is probably trapped wind all night and was impossible all evening. He's such a bitch when he's ill, I can't be around him. He answers all my questions like 'do you have a temperature' and 'would you like some painkillers' in such a martyred tone of voice you would think I was sticking pins in his eyes which I quite wanted to do by the end of the evening. Serves him right for drinking all my caffeine free diet coke

BuntCadger · 24/07/2013 11:31

I've lost appetite too most days, esp at tea time.

Blue - I only used cloth from about 6m with dd and wish I'd used them sooner. I use pocket ones as don't need a wrap (I'm lazy). The ones from little lambs one size fits all and my fave from pixie pants (lots of cute designs). I'm a little lost on what to use on newborn as tho the pockets are meant to adjust they'll still be very big on a little bottom. Saved so much money with reusables and dd loves them

16w appt tomoz (can't wait!) not quite 16 w yet tho am 15+2 but Way next week at camp bestival :))

BuntCadger · 24/07/2013 11:33

Re royal baby (how cute he is!) I do wish the media would back the fuck off now and let them get on with their amazing journey in private

TarkaTheOtter · 24/07/2013 11:49

Humpty if you have one near you, Kiddicare is great for checking out all the different prams. They have hundreds.

MrsGSR · 24/07/2013 12:32

Aww, I want a puppy! Unfortunately it's not practical for us, but I did spend yesterday evening round a friends house playing with her 16 week old cock-a-poo!

Glad your scan went well fuls!

I really want to use cloth, although I've bought some cheap newborn nappies as I doubt I'll be up to doing much laundry in the first few weeks! Been researching the different types but it is very confusing, and annoyingly our local council stopped giving grants a few years ago :(

alien My BIL has the joolz day, it does look quite nice :)

Sultana Thank you, I think it is very normal for the bump to change sizes in the first half of pregnancy. I spoke to my friend who is a nurse yesterday and she agreed!

I plan on going to kiddicare to look at prams, although I think I've decided on the Jane Trider, with the Strata seat and Transporter 2. I've done a stupid amount of research (DH ignores me when I try to explain how wonderful I think it is!) but I want to try out them all before making a final decision :)

Mythreeknights · 24/07/2013 12:37

This is an odd question, but so far this pg I've had 4 or 5 wierd experiences that I wanted to see if you had had too. Basically, on occasion, but in particular when I'm resting something on my tummy (hand / book / arm / small child etc), it literally 'punches' out at me. Each time it happens I cry out as it's fairly strong / violent and sore, and I end up with an acheing muscle afterwards. Yesterday it happened twice, the second time I was thrown back by it, as though someone had reached out and pushed me back. It must be muscle spasms, but has anyone else had this? Either that or there's some sort of alien growing inside me...

Mythreeknights · 24/07/2013 12:38

Humpty I live in Scotland...but can PM you photos if that helps?

HumptyDumptyBumpty · 24/07/2013 13:50

Tarka thank you for the tip, I will have a looksee.

Mythree If we go to Kiddicare and can try one out (won't be for a couple of weeks though) then pics might be enough! I don't want to stand in the way of someone else who might be interested though. As for the alien punches, no idea, but ouch!

bunt oh totally - leave them alone now. We saw the baby, it will be quite dull for a while now, no need for more pics until it is 6 mo at LEAST. And let her lose her baby weight (all 2lbs of it!) in private.

Sultanajo · 24/07/2013 15:56

MrsGSR that is indeed reassuring! Again, why does it not tell you this in books???

Mythree that sounds a bit violent! Not sure apart from a super energetic bubba perhaps??? Perhaps the second/third/fourth time mums will be able to explain?

Great tip about Kiddicare - never heard of them before, but there is one within half an hour, so may well take a trip at the weekend!!!

Humpty men and illness do NOT mix!!! Hmm Really hope you have made up with your mate!

OP posts:
MrsGSR · 24/07/2013 17:35

Exfoliating hair removal mitts on the stomach sting! Although my skin is very soft and smooth now... I think I'm going to have to use them in small amounts.

There's a kiddicare almost exactly half way between here and my dad's, we're going next Friday :) I don't think DH knows what he's let himself in for!

enormouse · 24/07/2013 17:40

blue is the sling library you speak of in Carrick or Belfast? It sounds great, I'd love to take a look. Really want to go sling and cloth nappies for this bubs but have been informed that I'm going way too 'hippy-art-teacherish' by my lovely OH.

humpty the royal baby is so cute but I wish the media would leave them alone now.

I'd love a puppy but we already have 2 dogs - my big lug of a samoyed and DPs collie.

been away for a few days trying to sort things out wrt my course and going back to uni next year. Have found out that my science and language a levels are now redundant (despite doing them in 2007) and I need to tack some science modules onto my current access so I can apply for the full time course I want. No skin off my nose but it's a pain to organise.

Also have a driving lesson with a new instructor tomorrow. Am pretty nervous considering what a cuntpuffin/cockwomble/all round knob my last instructor was. I almost cancelled tbh.

Sultanajo · 24/07/2013 17:51

Teehee mrsgsr! Hope u have a fab time dragging him round looking at baby stuff!

enormouse what a pain in the ass about your a levels not being enough! Go for it with your driving lesson! You have bubs with you to keep you company so you wont be alone! Fingers crossed this one is lovely!,Grin

OP posts:
Penny31 · 24/07/2013 17:54

I too have a hairy belly! I read that it would disapper after the baby is born. Will removing it not make it grow in stubbly?? I'm scared to do that....

Is anyone else suffering from a stinging belly button by evening time?

Enormous good luck with your driving lesson. Stick at it it will be worth it in the end I promise! It's just a means to an end, don't let cuntpufffins bother you! You won't ever have to see the instructor again when you have passed, you are using him :)

I'm v excited DP has an interview for a better job. It's only a 3k rise but it might g somewhere where as his current one is a dead end. I am such a control freak I'm trying to tell him what to say in the interview! I'm sure he will do just fine without my help.

MrsRApilot · 24/07/2013 18:03

enormouse what course are you wanting to do at uni? I've just done a 2 year access course and got my acceptance letter from Queens today to do Law with Politics this September. Eek!! I would check about the A-Levels though as there is no time limit on them - they're life-long- but the access course is only valid for 2-3 years which is a bit of a pain in the arse for people who don't want to/can't go to uni immediately. Good luck!! :-)

enormouse · 24/07/2013 18:51

Thanks penny and sultana, I am so close to passing so I will keep going. I'm just sick of PITA instructors

MrsRA congratulations, you must be so chuffed. Were you studying at Belfast met or the NRC? I'm at Belfast met and am doing combined social and behavioural sciences and was looking into doing speech therapy at Ulster. But according to Ulster I need to do an extra science module to complement the psychology. basically I can't combine my access with my a levels (biology, chemistry and Spanish). my other options are straight psychology or linguistics and psychology at queens. Am also looking into doing cognitive psychology at Edinburgh.
