The one where hopefully we are feeling less nauseous and knackered (although we develop hippo hands and feet due to the heat!), we are entering or are in our second trimester (phew!), we continue with 12 week scans and test results (ekkk!), we have 16 week midwife appointments and hear the heartbeat (OMG - aw!), we potentially see the beginnings of bumps and feel the first flutters of movement (wow!) and the 20 week scan for some is just around the corner! Grin

Oh and we try to improve our diets after surviving on one food group during the first trimester!!! Wink

Bring it on thread 7!!!

(pod hope I did you proud)!

Ooo we just bought a car seat and isofix system! There was a good deal online. Just need to get adapters for icandy peach which is the pram/buggy we are getting. First purchase - tick!

MrsVDB · 28/07/2013 22:05

Thanks another and tarka stupid question but is a sleep suit a baby grow with feet? Thanks

AnotherStitchInTime · 28/07/2013 22:29

Yes MrsV, sleepsuits are the ones with feet. If you can get ones with integral scratch mitts like the ones from Mothercare.

Frizz1986 · 28/07/2013 22:57

Hi leelteloo i did think of vouchers, but so many people dont like to give vouchers as they want to give actual things. Makes it all v tricky as i dont want to start asking people how much they were planning to spend. To be honest I dont really want them to buy anything as we are borrowing enough to keep us going, but people are already starting to ask (theres still 24 weeks to go!)

BuntCadger · 28/07/2013 23:52

Frizz - a nice baby record book? Photo frame? Something handmade for baby? Nice toiletries for baby (like posh organic range), bath tot for whe baby a little older, books (my fav gift to receive), comforter for baby, little handprint memento set, donation to trust fund. Tbh with ours we said we had lots of clothes, but it was lovely getting little cute outfits as gifts too. We didnt give a list, said that we've got main things sorted and family and friends just got us what they wanted to give.

Only specific request we made was to my mum who made a lovely liner, bumper and grill for Moses basket. It's now 46 years old! Done all my sisters and all our children so it needed a bit of tlc Smile

enormouse · 29/07/2013 08:49

MrsV you might need to shop around a little to get the right babygros for your baby. My DS has long limbs and a shorter body and his legs would poke out in the gaps between poppers with the gros from asda. (But the vests were a great fit, oddly). Mothercare were a bit to short in length. I found the best fit to be Sainsburys, which do come with the integral mits.

frizz have you thought of doing a babylist with John lewis or mamas and papas and putting it online?

I feel absolutely shattered today. We did a barbecue yesterday and I spent most of the time on me feet and am really feeling it today. Although toddlermouse was adorable and in his element and was busy demonstrating his clapping skills to a wide audience (he has just learnt how to clap this weekend). I am finding him very full on and tiring right now. Lots of jumping on me and clinginess and wanting carried about.

TarkaTheOtter · 29/07/2013 08:56

enormouse toddlermouse sounds like my dd. She's 18months and seems to need a constant physical connection to me at all times at the moment. She is also completely incapable of remaining still for more than a second so mostly that means clambering all over me. I keep thinking about how lovely and immobile newborns are.

sarahleanne · 29/07/2013 09:05

Frizz maybe ask people to buy clothes in bigger sizes as you will have loads of newborn? I asked people to buy 3-6 months with my first and second and it came in really handy as they are out of newborn stuff in a flash!!

Frizz1986 · 29/07/2013 09:45

Thanks. I knew you lot would have some ideas Smile

About to get up after the most fabulous sleep and i will be finishing de-cluttering the house. Only the bathroom and our bedroom to go so it shouldnt tak too long. Then its only 2 days until midwife app and next weekend I am off to visit my parents. Very excited for this week!

Hope others have got some nice plans

enormouse · 29/07/2013 10:33

tarka it's a magical age isn't it? Toddlermouse's favourite thing is waiting till I'm lying down and crawling on top of me and sitting there.

Btw just got the h and m catalogue and there are lots of lovely baby things there right now (im keen on the grey and animal themed things )and lots of discount codes on vouchercodes.

enjoyingscience · 29/07/2013 10:54

hi all! Hope you all had a great weekend. enormouse the H&M stuff looks really sweet. I like their sleepsuits, so will need to stock up again!

I'm hoping to take DS to my midwife appointment tomorrow - he can wait outside with DP for the first bit but I'd really like him to hear the heartbeat if she can find it. With him being a bit older I'm keen to involve him as much as he wants to be involved. At the minute, he keeps talking to the baby by shouting loudly into my mouth, which is lovely but a bit weird!

I feel fat as a cow at the minute. The childminder told me I was 'massive' this morning, which didn't help. I hate the fact my body is now open to comment. Rah.

MrsGSR · 29/07/2013 10:59

frizz kiddicare also do a gift list. I've made one just so I can remember what I want to buy! I'm just asking for clothes or toys as we haven't got many.

I weighed myself this morning and I'm still lighter than when I found out i was pregnant. I'm trying not to worry as I was a bit heavier than normal anyway. I keep reading about how some people put on almost all their weight in the first trimester whereas others don't put much on until the last. Hopefully I'll be able to hear baby's heartbeat on Wednesday and reassure myself!

keskiviikko · 29/07/2013 11:06

Mrs G, I'm still lighter than my starting weight. But as the obs made it quiet clear that I needed the side of my house removed and to be craned out of bed in the morning I'm not too worried! The little parasite baby will be taking everything it needs so I don't think there it any reason to worry.

MrsAVB · 29/07/2013 12:37

I have zero motivation at work today. Roll on mat leave...
That is all...

TobyLerone · 29/07/2013 13:05

Hi all, we're back! Working my way through the Mount Everest of laundry we brought back with us, while also attempting to catch up on the entire internet.

I've read everything and then promptly forgotten it. IIRC it was mostly puppies and prams :o

HumptyDumptyBumpty · 29/07/2013 13:16

toby welcome back, how was camping? Did DD leave bitchstrop behind?

Yay for puppies and baby purchases.

Cannot remember anything else.

Had my 16wk appt today, they didn't listen for heartbeat as they said it can be hard to find, which was disappointing. But my 'stored iron' levels are excellent, so that was nice Grin. DH has agreed we will brave Kiddicare in Croydon next weekend and test drive some prams. Looking forward to that!

TobyLerone · 29/07/2013 13:22

Thanks :)

Camping was lovely, thanks. I had stupidly invited my Most Annoying sister and her family, and they got on my nerves a bit (well, her DP and her DD are ok, but her DS is a 9 year-old gobshite and my sister is tres irritating and drinks too much), and DD was Bitchstrop Central all weekend, but DH, DS and I had a great time!

Shame about them not listening for the HB, Humpty :( It seems quite common for them to say that now.

I came home to my consultant appointment letter, but it's not until the middle of September. No idea when my next scan is yet. My MW said to ring the ultrasound dept just to make sure they're actually going to send one, as apparently my hospital's entire x-ray/ultrasound system is still FUBAR Hmm

HumptyDumptyBumpty · 29/07/2013 13:32

Toby glad it's not just me - I was all excited and then when she said they don't I got a small tear in my eye. A cynical part of my brain thought 'if you cry, maybe they will'... Grin.

At least I have the next appts booked - 20 week scan is in 3 weeks, 24 week appt is in 7 weeks! GTT booked for end of Sept as well, joy of joys...

Glad you had fun despite World's Most Annoying Sister, and DS & Bitchstrop DD!

enjoyingscience · 29/07/2013 13:35

Oh, that's a bit rubbish. I'll have to see what they do here tomorrow.

Is anyone else getting headaches? I've had a shocker of a headache at around lunchtime for the last week, and it's getting really very annoying. I thought I was maybe dehydrated, but I'm drinking loads and it doesn't seem to help.

Silly hormones.

TobyLerone · 29/07/2013 13:55

That really is rubbish, Humpty. I'm sure there was someone upthread whose MW said that and she asked if she'd try anyway. I may have dreamt that and also it doesn't help you now. But I would have been upset too.

YY headaches, enjoying. Paracetamol sometimes takes the edge off a bit. And the 4Head stuff seems to work temporarily. My MW also suggested the gel cooling pads you can put on your head/the back of your neck.

Penny31 · 29/07/2013 15:27

Yy to headaches here too! Paracetamol does the job but I don't like taking it too often.

Heartburn is a killer at the mo for me.

Sultanajo · 29/07/2013 17:36

Glad u had a good time toby despite everything!

Headaches not been too bad the last week but am currently in pain with frickin heartburn penny that just will not feck off! Meant to be going swimming tonight but not sure I will if this continues!!! Angry

humpty how disappointing they wouldnt listen to the heartbeat! How exciting you are going pram test driving though! Grin

BuntCadger · 29/07/2013 18:47

Headaches here too and dizziness.

enjoyingscience · 29/07/2013 19:03

sultana that sounds amazing! No heartburn here yet but I might pretend and have one of those anyway Wink

Sorry others are suffering with headaches too. I'm going to get some of that 4head stuff tonight and see how it goes. Boo.
