The one where hopefully we are feeling less nauseous and knackered (although we develop hippo hands and feet due to the heat!), we are entering or are in our second trimester (phew!), we continue with 12 week scans and test results (ekkk!), we have 16 week midwife appointments and hear the heartbeat (OMG - aw!), we potentially see the beginnings of bumps and feel the first flutters of movement (wow!) and the 20 week scan for some is just around the corner! Grin

Oh and we try to improve our diets after surviving on one food group during the first trimester!!! Wink

Bring it on thread 7!!!

(pod hope I did you proud)!

nature you are gonna have the best day!!! Give pupster a huge hug from auntie Sultana!!! Grin

mrsv at the moment I am trying to think logically, but in all honesty I have been winging it a bit when looking at clothes, probably why I have hardly bought anything....

mrsavb there is still tons of time for you to find your happy place in kiddicare! Grin I got ridiculously excited when I went, but it made me impatient because it feels like such a long time before we will be using the bits and bobs we are gonna be buying!

Just under two weeks til 20 week scan! Seeing my mates 4 week old baby last week made me really broody! Cant wait til dec/jan to meet our little bundle! Grin

penny how u doing today?

Hi everyone! Not been on in ages as we were on our hols in dev

BabyshamBambi456 · 28/07/2013 12:04

Sorry about the two above! I don't know how to get rid! Anyway holiday was lovely. I'm freaking out now tho with all I have to do! I've never even heard of Kiddicare! Plus we've got a house to sell which dh insists needs more work before we put it on market. When I found out I was pg I said I wanted it on market by August which he said was totally doable but now it turns out that was only if we spent every weekend there thus not doing any jobs in the house we live in or actually seeing friends and family! I'm really worried as with mortgage bills etc on both places his whole wage will be used only leaving my smp to live on Sad it also makes me worry about buying baby stuff as I don't even know where to begin. Sorry to come back ranting!

sanityisamyth · 28/07/2013 12:07

Can I join in? I'm due on the 3rd January with my first. Can't wait!!

Penny31 · 28/07/2013 12:24

nature that's so exciting!

Well my foot is fine today thanks. I elevated it last night and its done the job. I rang the midwife unit last night and the midwife was really nice, asked lots of questions and said it is unusual that it's just one foot so recommended that I rang a different hospital where there is an obsetcrician(sp?). Took her advice and rang the number she gave me and got a really unhelpful midwife who asked nothing and basically said everyone's feet are swelling in the heat, and if I'm still worried to see my GP in Monday.

So anyway since there was no pain I went to bed and its all ok today. If it happens again through the week I will go to the doctors.

It's pouring today, hoping to get on top of the housework and declutter. We have decided to hold off on the house move until this time next year, so I'm on a mission to clear as much space as possible for the baby stuff :)

Hope everyone is well today!

Sultanajo · 28/07/2013 13:40

Welcome sanity!

Thats great news penny. Sucks you ended up with somebody unhelpful at the end! Grrr!

Has anyone else experienced this - am 18+2 and the last couple of days, but particularly today I have been experiencing what I can only describe as a bit of pressure in what I imagine is my uterus. It keeps coming and going. Not sure if its a tightening, but it feels as though something is moving, pushing out on my abdominal wall and then releasing. I am a little constipated too. In my head I have thought "is it wind", "is this baby moving" or "is this braxton hicks, although it seems too early for that". Have also had the odd sharp pain too, but these have been really few and far between....

Just wondering if any of the experienced mums or indeed any of the first timers can shed any light. Am started to get a tiny bit worried as am away overnight with work. is sure its all normal, but being a few hours from home on my own is making me overthink things and really dont want to google it!!!Grin

sultana I think it's baby moving :) I have had similar, like a sort of wave of pressure, I don't think it's anything to worry about.

lovelilies · 28/07/2013 15:23

I'm getting all sorts of weird pressure/cramps/ niggly pains. all normal from what I can remember last time, plus I'm constipated too Grin great fun isn't it?!

Sultanajo · 28/07/2013 16:46

Hi everyone,

We are definitely in the finding out camp. We have two girls and a family where all the children bar one are girls. If it is a boy we need to know so we can buy some outfits that are not pink!

I had dd2 in Feb 2012 so can remember what I bought for having a winter baby if that helps.

Short sleeved vests for underneath sleepsuits (you can buy long sleeved ones if your house/flat is particularly cold or if having to go outdoors a lot in sub-zero temperatures).

Sleepsuits

Hats

Cardigans

Booties (you can slip on over sleepsuits if really cold).

Fleece all-in-ones

Snowsuit with mittens and integral booties

Footmuff and a blanket for the pram/buggy.

Blanket or baby snug hoodie for the car seat.

Mythreeknights · 28/07/2013 17:15

Nature girl, don't worry, my app said I had put "excessive weight"!!! But i was probably underweight to start with (bmi at 21 at 12 week scan once I had gained this excessive weight) so I say eat healthily but frankly if I'm starving I'm not going to fall about fainting am I...I am going to get me a mars bar, he he

Frizz1986 · 28/07/2013 17:58

I wouldn't worry too much about weight. As long as you eat a healthy varied diet (once you can) then it's fine. As soon as the sickness goes and i don't need to eat every 2 seconds I will be reverting back to lots of nutritious meals plus fruity snacks.

My sister put on 4 stone with her baby but he was just fine (although would have been big if he had made it to full term) It's just taken her a lot longer to lose it.
Midwives never know how much is fluid, or you and how much is baby. Everyone I know has either been told their baby will be big and it's come out tiny or told it will be tiny and come out big. Just eat the right stuff for u both to be as healthy as poss and all will be good.

Hope that everyone is a nice enjoyable Sunday.

AnotherStitchInTime · 28/07/2013 18:13

Useful guide to weight gain during pregnancy.

Just eat healthily with the odd treat snack and do moderate exercise and you will be fine.

sarahleanne · 28/07/2013 18:44

dont worry too much about weight people honestly.
I put on 4 stone with my first , I was 9 stone and ballooned to 13 stone I really was huge and had a scan for placenta previa at about 36 weeks and was told my baby would definitely be over 9lbs.... he was 12 days late and 8lbs 5 ounces .
although I do believe that every baby you have gets bigger, my daughter was 8lbs 7 ounces and was bang on due date so god knows what she would of been if I wasn't induced and went 12 days over lol.
heres to giving birth to a 14 pounder this time haha Grin

sarahleanne · 28/07/2013 18:59

oh god cant find a sitter for midwife appointment tomorrow so I have to take the kids.is the midwife gunna look at me like im mad?anyone else been taking their tribe to the appointments?

TarkaTheOtter · 28/07/2013 19:08

Just wanted to second anotherstitch's list of winter baby clothes.

AnotherStitchInTime · 28/07/2013 20:08

I took my 4 year old and 17 month old to my scan and blood appt the other day sarah. The hospital are used to it, many people haven't got childcare options.

BuntCadger · 28/07/2013 20:22

I'm wondering if this is the stage we generally feel fat, as I'm feeling bleurgh and like a frump. No jiggy with dh either as I feel so unattractve.

Re mw appt, I took all 3 to my last ds1 looked after dd and ds2 played on iPod.

Re baby weights, I agree the little blighters get bigger. Ds1 8lb12 born 38weeks, ds2 8lb14 born 4 days before edd, dd 9lb3 on edd. Dd was by far easiest birth and 2/3 hrs in total! Boys were back to back.

sarahleanne · 28/07/2013 20:23

Thanks another, that's very true and made me feel better about taking them. Now I just have to hope they behave!

sarahleanne · 28/07/2013 20:26

Bunt I'm glad I'm not the only one whose babies are getting bigger.i reckon this ones going to be my biggest for sure.

Sultanajo · 28/07/2013 20:45

bunt this is definitely the time to feel frumpy! Some days I make my peace with it and others, when I am going to see people I havent seen in a while it gets me down. Sad However, the end goal will be totally worth it!!! Grin

I've read everything, but can't remember much!

MrsA (I think) my bumps been lopsided for a while. I can only tell if I'm lying on my back but the right hand side was a lot bigger (which was where baby was at the 12w scan), more recently its been the left side a few times to!

Frizz1986 · 28/07/2013 21:34

Ok so I need some help from the more knowlegable ones amongst you. I know its too early to ask such things but I am an organiser so needto be planning away lol.

I have made my big list of things for baby and most things are being donated by my lovely sister, other things like cot bed, baby monitor, breast pump etc are things that me and dh want to buy ourselves as we will want to choose the right one for us.
This really only leaves muslin squares, nappies, baby wipes and other boring things that we require.
Now I am very aware that there are a few people we know who have said they would like to buy something, but we will have nothing to give them as dont feel we can say we want this specific baby monitor etc. Anyone have any ideas for things other people can get us that are not necessities (so wouldnt be on our list) but that would be nice to have as i already have one person who has said once I have made my list, to let her know something we would like and I dont want loads more clothes as my sister is donating about 10 boxes full!!

leelteloo · 28/07/2013 21:51

Hi Frizz, it's hard to suggest gifts with out knowing people's budget. Could you ask for vouchers and then put them towards baby monitor etc? John Lewis or mothercare?
