The one where hopefully we are feeling less nauseous and knackered (although we develop hippo hands and feet due to the heat!), we are entering or are in our second trimester (phew!), we continue with 12 week scans and test results (ekkk!), we have 16 week midwife appointments and hear the heartbeat (OMG - aw!), we potentially see the beginnings of bumps and feel the first flutters of movement (wow!) and the 20 week scan for some is just around the corner! Grin

Oh and we try to improve our diets after surviving on one food group during the first trimester!!! Wink

Bring it on thread 7!!!

(pod hope I did you proud)!

So Doppler arrived today. Don't think I could find heartbeat. Found one but timed it and then timed my own and think it was the same. Anyone else had issues? Any tips where to press etc?

Penny31 · 27/07/2013 11:43

MrsV I found my babies heartbeat by follow belly button down to hair line and then moving left a little. You have to press quite firmly and move it about a mm at a time! Sometimes baby is behind placenta or moving about so you can't hear it. I watched a YouTube video on how to do it. Good luck!

Penny31 · 27/07/2013 11:44

Has anyone else got swollen feet? My right one has doubled I size and I'm a bit worried?

BookTart · 27/07/2013 12:16

Mrsv, mine is always still right down by the hairline, even though I have a massive bump it could swim around in. Aim lower than you think, and like Penny said move a tiny bit at a time. Your heartbeat will be about 80ish, the artery nearby will be 120, and baby's will be even higher.

penny, yes! by the end of the day my feet are massive and swollen. I'm quite the catch right now, with my giant feet and hairy belly :)

nature PUPPY!

Frizz1986 · 27/07/2013 12:19

nature very exciting. Puppies are awesome, although glad mine has grown up a bit (she is 4 but still acts like a puppy lol)

Did well today and got up, did the weeks shop for £26 (major budget now Dh has finished work) and then we spent 2 hours cleaning the house downstairs to get rid of clutter. Gonna have the rest of the day off then tomorrow we are going to sort upstairs so we can get the nursery clear of everything. Thankfully I am on a long weekend so have Monday off work and then midwife is on wed. Soooo excited to hear the heartbeat.

penny no swollen feet for me yet, but i have massive size 7-8 things anyway so not sure how much bigger they can get.

Anyone else finding that their boobs and bellies are wobbling as their heart beats? My heartbeat is v loud these days, proper thud like (i assume because e volume of blood has increased) but wondered if anyone one else was finding the same thing. It's rather weird.

Penny31 · 27/07/2013 12:42

Only one foot is swollen, it's huge, like twice the size of the other one. Should I be worried?

Penny31 · 27/07/2013 13:05

Frizz I think sometimes I seem to wobble! I know what you mean!

Sultanajo · 27/07/2013 14:03

mrsv mine used to be right down by the hairline but at 18 weeks its midway between hairline and belly button - usually find it slightky to the left but this morning it was more central bad sultana for checking several times a week after saying I would only do it once a week.

penny both my feet swell when its hot - they are relatively swollen now - not sure about just one being swollen....does it hurt? Have you injured it in any way?

OP posts:
Sultanajo · 27/07/2013 14:04

frizz not all the time, but I have seen my belly pulsing with my heartbeat sometimes....

OP posts:
MrsGSR · 27/07/2013 15:39

frizz I can see my heartbeat in my stomach and my left boob. It's quite strange, especially as my boobs are currently huge so I wouldn't expect it!
I'll have a proper catch up later :)

lovelilies · 27/07/2013 16:02

penny I'd go to docs/a&e with one swollen foot - might be nothing but if it's just one I'd be concerned about cellulitis/ DVT. Don't mean to be alarmist, but it needs checking Smile

On another note, heard Pip's heartbeat up at the antenatal clinic at hospital, was just ringing up about 16 week apt and midwife was lovely and said just to pop up whenever and they'd have a listen! Grin
Especially reassuring after the CVS to know all is ok as not felt any movement yet. BTW she found heart about 5 cm up from hairline to the right Smile

Toothfairy78 · 27/07/2013 16:37

Yay! Baby shopping all round!

Have been out with MIL and bought first baby things! Some babygros with grey elephants on and some with other animals. And some mitts and a sleepsuit with little bear paw prints on the feet! The in laws also brought down DH's Chinese dressing gown with dragon on the back, which was intended for him as a baby. It's soooooo cute! And one of their friends sent a knitted teddy down from oop north!

In laws are now downstairs painting and sewing us some nice new curtains, while I finish knitting an elephant toy for friend's bub.

Not bad for a Saturday, eh?

Sultanajo · 27/07/2013 17:56

Yay love - very reassuring hearing the heartbeat! Grin

tooth how exciting! We are hopefully going to get our pram tomorrow while it is still on sale! Grin

Naturegirl82 · 27/07/2013 19:37

Well the puppy shopping went well. Everything we need for her arrival tomorrow.

Baby shopping was just confusing. No idea about travel systems vs prams/buggies. Think I'll just stay in denial about the whole thing for a while longer. We did buy the baby's first clothes. A cute little set.

sarahleanne · 27/07/2013 20:25

just been browsing through other threads and it looks like we have a mention from I think the December thread saying how our thread is on number 7 already lol,we are famous for are talking!! and endless rambling Grin

was feeling baby move the other week and then this week, nothing!! it doesn't matter how still I lay and for how long this baby will not prod me Confused

congrats mrsv on finding the heartbeat. I have my 16 week midwife appointment on Monday .

had a few days of feeling awake, not just feel exhausted again...something to do with the school holidays maybe and DS is at home and DD,someone help me please!

Frizz1986 · 27/07/2013 20:41

So jealous of all those heartbeats. Have to wait until wed for mine. Really hope they do the heart beat, will they def do it or will i need to ask??

I def think i felt movement last week a few nights running, but now nothing. Def bump appearing, just above from the hair line there is very much a hard slope outwards so am sure it wont be long before the belly gets hard too. Eeeeekk!! Cant wait to look what i call 'proper pregnant'

Naturegirl82 · 27/07/2013 20:47

Jealous of all the 16 week appointments. My next one isn't until I'm 18 weeks Sad

Frogcatcher · 27/07/2013 22:31

frizz I had a massive pulsating tummy moment with my heartbeat when I was lying on the lounger on hols. It looked so freaky! My midwife also only does 18 wk appts nature but she's on hols when mine was due so I've managed to sneak in wk after next but it will be 17+4 then anyway.

Naturegirl82 · 28/07/2013 08:11

It's puppy collection day. Oh my god I'm going to burst with excitement! 1 hour to finish getting the house as puppy proof as possible!

Glad I'm not the only one with an 18 week appointment frog. At leasr it won't be a long wait afterwards until our next scan.

MrsVDB · 28/07/2013 08:28

Woo nature how exciting!!

Frizz1986 · 28/07/2013 08:55

nature it is impossible to puppy proof. They will always find a way of getting where you dont want them to go and then they will just do the cutest face at you so you cant tell them off lol.

Enjoy bringing home your fluffy bundle Smile

MrsVDB · 28/07/2013 08:55

Asda has 20% off all baby clothes this weekend and they have some cute bits. As we will be having winter babies are you getting mostly long sleeved baby grows or a mixture? I have no idea when they wear all the things? Just buying cute things at the moment and figured I'd work it out ha ha. Although I did resist a cute dressing gown yesterday as it was the fleecy type and I couldn't figure out when baby would ever wear this??

MrsAVB · 28/07/2013 09:19

Morning all!
So this morning my "bump" (I am also waiting to look "proper pregnant" rather than a bit fatter than normal frizz) was lopsided, definitely bigger on the left side. Anyone else had this?
Am still ignoring all decisions re buying prams etc, far too scary. Went to a big kiddycare and it was like being in hell... I think I need to man up and get with the programme!
I forget what everyone else said, but re. heartbeats at 16 week appointments, my maternity notes book from the hospital lists all the appointments and what they do and fetal heartbeat is listed for the 16 week appointment and they did it at mine. My next scan isn't til 22 weeks though boo...
penny how is your foot today?
