Up the- glad you've heard babies heartbeat. Hope that's reassured you a bit & you don't have to wait too long to be seen by the doctor.

Hetsto- holy macaroni. What news!! Congrats.. Twins are so efficient- two for the price of one pg & labour! I think you're the first twins on the thread?

Holly- really glad to see you back! Congrats on the pink bean! I've loved buying little pink bits and I think you may have inspired me to try my hand at knitting.. Maybe once mat leave starts..

UpTheFRIGGinDuff · 08/08/2013 22:19

I'm HOME thank goodness

But they only sent me home on the promise I'd rest this evening (easy enough) and tomorrow...which is trickier with a 5 and 2.10 year old at home all day Hmm

Baby seems fine and there was no more blood when they did the speculum thingy.
The doctor said something about it maybe being the placenta detaching....and then stopping...and that as long as i didn't start bleeding again it'd be fine Confused
The midwife said it looked I had blood in my urine but didn't get back to me about it....I assume I'll get a phone call??

Hope all are well and enjoying getting to the halfway mark!

ruffletheanimal · 09/08/2013 04:20

hello.
not been on here (MN) in an age.
is this the due in december 2013 lot? blimey, theres a lot of you.
thought i might pop in and say hello - can be nice to have a place/people to witter about baby stuff to eh.
im due on xmas day. its my number 4 (5 if you include my stepson).
which sounds bonkers (in 'how did that happen?' sort of way), but there you are. my youngest will be 8 soon after this one comes, so big gap (for me anyway, others all really close).
bloody uncomfortable already at 20 weeks - dont remmeber it being this hard this early with the others, maybe its my advanced years ! (only actually 37)
anyhoo, hi. congrats.

QueenofWhispers · 09/08/2013 07:16

Hi guys!

so went to see in-laws yesterday for Eid celebrations. Felt like the biggest fraud--no one in my house ever fasts and then on Eid we are happier than those who do and totally eat like it.

It was like watching a really bad comedy in slow motion.

itsliz · 09/08/2013 07:42

Morning, all!

Found it impossible to get comfortable in bed last night and ended up only getting about 4 hours sleep Sad
Didn't help that I kept working myself up into a panic about not eating healthily enough and failing my little bean before its even been born...
Not sure how I'm going to drag myself through a long day at work in this state but I suppose this is all good practice for the sleepless nights I'll be getting once the little one arrives!

Still getting the odd twinges/ aches / crampy pains quite low down in my bump. Been trying to ignore it but starting to wonder whether I ought to be worried...

Has anyone else experienced this?! Please tell me I'm worrying over nothing!

froubylou · 09/08/2013 08:21

Itsliz I'm sat here now with a stabby pain just above my pubic bone. And I had my scan yesterday and everything is fine. I think it's just when baby is moving or sat on something that causes it. Or the weight of baby and everything else pressing on nerves etc.

But if you are worried then give your midwife a quick call. I'm sure she will reassure you.

And with regards to not eating properly don't stress about that either lol. Take your multi vitamins, try to eat well for your own sake but don't panic if you have a bad day. Baby will take what it needs from you before you get it.

Queen I love seeing the eid celebrations. There was a huge party at the bottom of our road last night and I love seeing all the ladies in their saris floating around like butterflies. Some of them are really beautiful and I get a bit jealous lol. Funnily enough my DD was desperate for a sari from being abou 3 to 7. We live in quite a mixed area and she would eye up random Muslim ladies and their outfits when we passed them.

Found myself doing the same when it was hot and I was fat and sweaty pmsl. But happy eid even if you are not devout enough to fast. Think pg ladies are excused anyway so you can celebrate with no guilt this time!

Glad you are home upthe. Do you have anyone who canhelp out ffor a couple of days or can your DP take a day off maybe?

Hello ruffle.

Good luck today ccsays!

Roselau · 09/08/2013 08:29

itsliz - i get the same aches once in a while. especially when i've been sitting and i get up. also i agree with frouby we need to stop worrying about the crap we eat. easier said than done because i do the same, but I try to think about all these people that don't know better, drink and smoke while pg, and end up with perfect babies. but yeah i do feel guilty about all the chips i end up eating.

ccsays - good luck on the scan! when are you going in? mine is in an hour yikes!

ccsays · 09/08/2013 09:33

Welcome ruffle! I think there's a stats thread somewhere if you want to add yourself in.

Thanks for the good luck wishes all! Mine's at 11.30 Roselau (the last time they were 45 mins late. Not fun with a full bladder!) I'll keep my fingers crossed all goes well for us Smile

itsliz · 09/08/2013 09:51

Ahhh you're all amazing, thanks for the kind words frouby and Roselau Smile

Just feels like I'm having a bad week rather than a bad day - so far it's involved chocolate, a few sweets, Coke, a Dominos pizza that we ended up ordering after a long, exhausting day and some yummy homemade burgers that DP rustled up last night!
Obviously there have been healthy things too, but all those naughty treats are starting to make me feel so guilty...
As you said though, I suppose it could still be a lot worse!

Best of luck with all the scans today - let us know how things go! Smile

Holly1977 · 09/08/2013 10:05

Itsliz, I've been having those twinges for ages. I thought they were growing pains then suddenly I realised it was probably my daughter Smile moving around. I like those sensations much more now! Don't worry chuck, I'm sure it's normal. I went swimming last night for the first time in ages and floated around on my back for a bit afterwards. She definitely enjoyed that cos I could feel her moving from the outside with my hand for the first time! Smile Grin

Music, your neighbours sound like arseholes, like mine! I have a MOT garage at the bottom of my garden and gym round the back of the house. The owner hates me because I (and other neighbours) objected to it being there, as you would. They're probably bluffing about suing you, or just saying it in anger. You really don't need that extra stress though. When are you starting the work? Just sounding a note of caution that I started a knock through before I got pg which is still going on and has no signs of being finished before my daughter arrives!! So I have no washing machine and can't nest properly, it's driving me crazy!

Sorry to hear you've had a rough time Upthefriggingduff. hope things are all ok now. Keep us posted.

Thanks Mildred Smile I'd get cracking on the knitting now if you're even half as slow as me! It's taken me 10 days to (almost) finish my first cardigan and it still needs sewing up. Thankfully my knitting genius colleague is in today so I'm going to cheat and ask her to do it. I fecking hate the sewing up part!

I had a shite night's sleep last night too. Just really restless, tossing and turning, kept getting cramps in my calves, peeing every hour, weird dreams. Still, not being on good terms with OH has its perks as I get the bed to myself, can thrash around to my heart's content and roll over and get out at "his" side rather than walk all the way round! And don't worry about what you're eating love, my diet has been shocking recently. Well probably still better than a lot of people but not as good as I would like. I ate 4 chocolate bars last night after dinner! Fuck it, we've got enough to worry about and feel guilty about as it is, enjoy the one and only time in your life you're allowed to eat what you like and slap anyone who says different!

mumoftwoboysS · 09/08/2013 10:07

itsliz the fact that you're worried about eating too much crap shows how much you care about your little bean so don't be so hard on yourself! I may eat quite healthily on a daily basis but that doesn't stop me indulging in what I fancy -yesterday it was a magnum- yum!

I haven't felt any movement since waking and I know it's not a long time but baby is normally quite active so now I'm willing him/her to move! May have to try the orange juice trick to put my mind at rest but I'm sure he/she is just sleeping! It's so annoying how anxiety can just spring up randomly- I then can't think of anything else and find it hard to concentrate on anything...

I've been getting the aches/pains as well. The other night baby must have been lying on something as I had a horrid dull ache somewhere inside but couldn't work out what it was, very uncomfortable- and our babies aren't even that heavy yet- wait a few months and yikes, they'll be kicking and squishing all sorts of internal organs- lol!

QueenofWhispers · 09/08/2013 12:27

aww thanks frouby sadly I ended up wearing a very vintage outfit yesterday and looked uber frumpy.

I'm feeling some movement, but by no means the amount DS was giving at this stage. He was all over the place last time.

clare8allthepies · 09/08/2013 12:33

Good luck to those with scans today!

Off to my sisters for the weekend, bet they'll get a shock at the size of me, haven't seen any of my family since our holiday when I was 11 weeks, that was 15 weeks ago now!

clare8allthepies · 09/08/2013 12:38

No it wasn't, I'm 24 weeks not 26, guess basic arithmetic isn't my strong point today Grin

MrsShrubs · 09/08/2013 12:55

Goodluck today ccsays and roselau with your scans!!

Welcome ruffle

PistachioTruffle · 09/08/2013 13:50

Good luck with the scans ladies! Welcome ruffle.

Is anyone else getting the urge to nest yet? I'm desperate to start washing the clothes I've got, painting the nursery and start stockpiling nappies and wipes!

DaleyBump · 09/08/2013 14:10

Good luck with scans everyone!

Welcome ruffle! Wow Christmas day :)

Itsliz I get those pains too, try not to worry about them :) although they can be quite painful!

Glad you're home up, where I am they call you if they find something wrong so no news is good news :)

I've really got the urge to nest Pistachio, I really really want a nursery to do up but we're in a 1 bedroom flat right now and hopefully moving into a 2 bedroom house when the wee man is about two months old. If we get a mortgage, that is, because we're both students and most places don't give students mortgages Confused

I've discovered I can push my bellybutton in and out. I didn't even know that was possible!

DaleyBump · 09/08/2013 14:21

Oh god, I've got an ingrown hair downstairs and I can't see to pull it out. It's really sore! Might have to get DP to help when he gets in, but he's a bit useless with anything concerning pain! He couldn't even pull out a hair on my chin the other day. Does all this extra hair growth go away when the baby is born or am I stuck with a beard for the rest of my life? Confused

itsliz · 09/08/2013 14:47

Sorry, forgot to say welcome ruffle! Smile

Thank you so much Holly, mumoftwo and DaleyBump - I'm so, so glad it's not just me! Feeling a million times better now that I know other people are giving into temptation as well.
For some reason I just assumed that everyone was being all healthy and eating nothing but fruit and veg and salad-y stuff!

Also feeling a lot better today as little bean seems to have got stronger overnight! I'm finally feeling proper tiny kicks rather than faint little flutters and it's really cheered me up Smile

The nesting has definitely kicked in here, Pistachio.
Being in a studio flat means that I can't get excited about decorating a nursery so I've ended up going mad wanting to buy new towels, new bedding, new cutlery, new plates, etc.
I got really upset the other day because DP wouldn't let me buy a new bathroom bin Grin
Ours is huge and doesn't match the bathroom... I've never been that fussed, but now I'm adamant that we need a smaller one that matches!!!

Oh and I'm loving all these random new discoveries, haha!
My belly button has become reeeally tiny, so no chance of trying out that trick...!

Roselau · 09/08/2013 14:48

I don't have much time but wanted to say THANKS ALL for the kind words. after the scan this morning, ALL IS GOOD WITH BABY ROSE! he/she is chilling like a villain down there. seems like my low weight gain is not an issue since baby is growing normally. the fact I don't feel much movement is the anterior placenta but it's high enough so not an issue.
The technician wrote the gender on a piece of paper that we will read tonight at the restaurant. I can't wait. Majority of my family thinks it's a girl and I think it's a boy.... Stay tuned!

Hope everything went well for you ccsays. thinking of you.

hetsto · 09/08/2013 15:48

Hello all! Just thought I?d give a bit of an update after a long day at King?s today. I was scanned again first thing this morning and we then spoke to a lovely consultant (all good things people said about the staff at King?s proved completely true by the way!) who confirmed that one of the twins isn?t growing as quickly as the other and it looked like they had TTTS. We were pretty frightened but the consultant explained that we qualified for laser surgery to sever the blood vessels that the twins were sharing, and that we could have it straight away. We knew this was fairly high risk but the alternative was to wait and watch things get progressively worse, so it was a no-brainer really. The staff were all very reassuring; we went for a little walk and then were seen for the surgery later this morning.

It was amazing to be able to watch the consultant working on the babies from the inside; he severed 7 blood vessels through the amniotic sack of the largest twin and then drained some of the fluid from that sack. It was all over pretty quickly and then we just had to wait a few hours before they could scan me again to check whether the babies were ok. They?re still holding on in there with pretty normal heartbeats, so we?ll be going back next week to check their heart beats again and see whether the smaller twin has started to catch up. On a plus note, I?m less tight and uncomfortable now some of the fluid?s been drained!

We?re not out of the woods yet and the twins will continue to be monitored on a weekly or fortnightly basis for the rest of the pregnancy, but it feels like we?ve moved quickly in the right direction. I can?t believe how fast all this has happened; I?m in a total whirlwind of shock and uncertainty, but my OH has been wonderful, as have lots of other family and friends, and it?s lovely to be able to come on here and decompress too. Thank you for all the good wishes over the last day or so. I?m thinking one of those CowShed treatments you mentioned Roselau, might well be in order now!

Hope the scans went well today ccsays and welcome ruffletheanimal. Glad to hear you?re ok UpTheFRIGGinDuff ! Congratulations on the scan Dusty04 and roselau, have a lovely time this evening!

Itsliz ? they gave me sweet tea and the biggest slice of cake I?ve ever seen at the hospital today, so I wouldn?t worry too much about eating the odd bit of junk!

?We?ve got girls, so I?m off to think about names now. Smile

Holly1977 · 09/08/2013 15:50

Daley - check this thread out! Smile

www.mumsnet.com/Talk/pregnancy/1821830-34-weeks-and-cant-get-to-tidy-up-my-bits-Any-tips

There's some stuff for ingrowing hair you can get from Boots but i can't remember what it's called. It's a bit abrasive so possibly not great for your lady garden. Try exfoliating it for a day or two then having another go, good luck! Nothing worse than an ingrowing hair downstairs!

Itsliz, LOL, no chance! Don't get me wrong, I'm not eating unhealthily particularly. I never do. Haven't eaten a McD's in 10 years or something, don't eat ready meals etc. Well for instance today I've had 2 slices of toast (with proper full fat butter of course), a packet of crisps and just had a massive Nando's. Basically I eat what feels right.

I feel the same about the kicks and movement. I wonder how much is that I'm aware of what those sensations are now and little Isabel has actually been moving for ages but I didn't realise it.

Great news Roseleau, excited to hear what flavour you're having. Don't know how you can wait until tonight!

Pistachio, I would love to nest but with working so many hours, being permanently knackered, living in a building site and also having a biggish garden to keep up to, it hasn't happened yet.
