Blimey lots this morning

Congratulations hetsto on the twin news & I completely agree with frouby try and stay away from google, I'd only really rely on what the hospital is telling you, literature they give & NHS websites. Kings has such good feedback (my OH is assistant theatre manager of another London hospital and only hears good things) so you'll be in great hands.

Also congratulations on the scans holly & frouby our little boy did the same thing at the scan last week so at least there's no doubt when you go to buy things!

roselau definitely don't worry about the size of your bump, keep reminding yourself Kate middletons was teeny (I'm sure mines bigger now than hers was full term) and she still ended up with an 8lb 6oz big baby boy! I think a lot of it sometimes is fluid retention, mine is definitely bigger at the end of each day then when I wake up again.

I feel like I've missed someone from this morning, if I have very sorry!

Chilli81 · 08/08/2013 13:33

Congrats to all the all the ladies who've had scans today.
Hetsto Stay away from google! It must be a shock but hopefully a good one. A lot to take in. Google is the devil for pregnant women though. I remember googling miscarriage risks obsessively after my first miscarriage and it's not good for you. Remember people are always more prone to post bad stories because they need to talk about things as a way of getting through things but the vast majority of pregnancies are successful. Also as the other ladies have said it sounds like you're getting the best possible care.

mumoftwoboysS · 08/08/2013 13:39

Congrats on the scans! Am pretty jealous now that I don't know what I'm having- I want to go shopping!!

Oh well I guess on the plus side I'll save money this way Wink

Rose, I agree, don't worry about your bump size- maybe you've got really good stomach muscles that are still clinging on for dear life trying to hold it all in-lol! One say they may just give up and suddenly you'll have a big bump! I feel like I look around 7 months pregnant on the other hand! A massive bump, but then I'm quite small so I think it's more obvious.

Sigh, I really do want to shop for baby stuff now! I've got 1 thing, a cute cream hat from Gap that I was going to give to SIL (decided I'd bought enough for her baby so I kept it!) but then I'm sure we have about 7 more in the loft!

NomDeClavier · 08/08/2013 13:44

rose my stomach muscles did that with DS. April baby, at Christmas my stomach was still flat as a pancake, photos from holiday 4 weeks later (so difference between 24 and 28 weeks really) and I have a proper bump! It just went pop one day. This time I have a small but noticeable bump so I think my stomach muscles just have up the ghost at the first sign Wink

Thank you all so much for the kind wishes, it?s really lovely! You?re all totally right about google too; useful if you know what you?re looking for, not so helpful if you?re randomly link-clicking and prone to scaring! I?ve sworn off it for the rest of the day and am going to try and feed my soul with a good book and some fresh air instead.

A lady in the post office queue at lunch time started talking to me about being pregnant etc and I was pretty sure I might just have a nervous breakdown at first, but actually she was so lovely that I came away feeling a million times better. She was telling me I look glowing and full of health and ?God?s goodness? (!!), so I?m pretty sure that means nothing can possibly go wrong, right?!

Good thinking on a list of questions for tomorrow too froubylou - I?ll draw some up with DP this evening and one of us should definitely take notes. It?s great to hear such good things about King?s too, I?m sure we?ll be in good hands.

Sorry to hear things have been rough Holly1977, keep the ?my daughter? thoughts up and fingers crossed for plenty more good days to come.

DaleyBump · 08/08/2013 14:24

So much good news today!! Massive congrats hetso, frouby and anyone else I've missed (sorry!) as I'm in a rush. Thanks for the kind wishes, I'm off to my scan and keeping my fingers crossed that they don't find anything untoward being the reason for the wee man's decrease in movement.

Sending you Flowers holly

Holly1977 · 08/08/2013 14:31

Just had a bit of a splurge on cute pink things in Primarni and bought loads of pink wool and a new pattern so am going to crack on with more knitting. It's cheered me up no end, was actually singing as I was walking around town! And I got chatting to a woman in the knitting shop, told her all about Isabel etc and she said her mum was called Isabel and got all emotional! So happy we found out, it's like the fun of telling people I was pg all over again.

Frouby, apart from this thread I've decided to stay away from Mumsnet for a while. Obviously you guys are all great but honestly I think there's some really bat shit crazy people on here and it had been giving me an unrealistically negative view of people and the world generally. Though obviously my mood has been a big part of that too. OH and I are going to Relate so am hoping that will help. Also my dad has extremely generously paid for us to go on holiday for 10 days at the end of August which I'm incredibly grateful for. Assuming I don't kill OH by then! I really need it, what with all the stress at home and having to work so hard at work. But on the plus side, I've calculated that the business can afford to pay me quite a bit on top of statutory maternity pay which is a big weight off my mind. Though to balance that out I've also realised that I'm going to have to do some work while I'm off but am going to set it up so I can log onto the work computer from home whenever is convenient so it shouldn't be too bad.

I've been talking to a couple of friends recently instead of bottling it all up which has helped loads so yeah, it's up and down really. Bad days, good days. I think the hormones are settling down now, my own bat shit crazy moments are getting fewer and further between!

UpTheFRIGGinDuff · 08/08/2013 14:37

Can I join?
Due on 6th December.

baby was not being co operative during the 20 week scan, and had the umbilical cord through their legs, although the sonographer said she thought it looked like a girl Hmm

So,anyway,we're in team yellowish...

froubylou · 08/08/2013 14:44

Holly a forum like this attracts the best and the worst of people. Just dip in and out and take the bits you find useful. If you ever want someone to offload to and don't feel like posting feel free to pm me. Promise I'm only slightly batshit crazy at the moment lol. Xx

Good luck daley. Let us know.

Welcome upthefrigginduff!

Holly1977 · 08/08/2013 14:56

You're right of course Frouby. And thanks for the offer, I'll bear it mind xx

Can we give a prize to our newest addition for having the best screen name so far?!!!

Thanks Daley and good luck!

We'll have to do a pink / blue / undecided count once we've all had our scans.

Mogz · 08/08/2013 15:09

Ooh, so glad I've found you ladies. I'm due with my first on 02/12, we've had our 20w scan and all is well, decided not to find out the sex though. I'm sure it's a girl by DH says he's sure it's a boy because he dreamed it, but we don't mind either way, we're just super excited to meet our baby!
We've been trough a lot to get here; HG, liver disease, kidney problems, gall bladder problems, hospitalisation, some very strange blood test results and now the MW wants to see me again after I described symptoms of SPD to her. I'm lucky to have a very supportive DH and family so I know we'll be ok.

MrsShrubs · 08/08/2013 15:35

Welcome upthefrigginduff and mogz Flowers

Roselau · 08/08/2013 15:44

ah thanks ladies for your encouragements! It makes me feel much better. I guess am relatively fit and it is my first, so I will put it down to that. nom glad to hear you only popped at 24 wks - I'm at almost 21.

Maybe the large burger and two portions of chips (yes two!) I had at lunch will put me up a lb or two by tomorrow :) unhealthy I know, but I had such a huge craving.

only 18 hours to go and I will defo let all of you know!

holly glad to hear that you are working on things and it seems to be going a bit better. holiday sounds lovely, you have a great dad. CONGRATS on the baby girl. I think you're right it will just feel so much more real to know. I just don't feel too preggos right now (other than some of the symptoms). I cannot wait. I also agree there are some crazies out there - actually I love this thread because I haven't come across any crazies - I've been on some other ones and I'm like wtf are these people on?!? so that's a compliment to all of you :)

welcome up (awesome name indeed). and welcome Mogz - I really hope that everything gets better from now on.

mum even without knowing though, you can go get cute things in neutral colours now that you know everything is aok? i remember you saying you're not an all pink / all blue person?

ok i need to do some work i spend too much time on mn, fb, etc. my team is not impressed, they are working so hard and i'm the slacker boss who can only think about her pregnancy !

hetsto · 08/08/2013 16:07

Welcome and congratulationsupthefrigginduff and mogz! Agreed, upthefrigginduff is a brilliant screen name. Best of luck for the scans DaleyBump and Roselau.

I definitely reckon shopping can happen whether you know/want to know the gender or not ? there are some really sweet gender-neutral things in BabyGap at the moment!

mumoftwoboysS · 08/08/2013 16:55

Yeah maybe I'll indulge a bit tho we have a lot of white stuff from buying first time round. But a new outfit or two is only fair for baby no. 3 to have since he/she will get lots of hand me downs (well even more if its a boy!)

Welcome mogz and up! Mogz, sounds like you've really been through the mill- hope you get to enjoy things a bit more from now on!

itsliz · 08/08/2013 17:03

Welcome to the thread, upthefrigginduff and mogz!

All this talk of shopping forced me to buy a few neutral bits (bibs, hats, etc) while shopping in Tesco this afternoon... Oops!
Can't wait to start buying blue or pink things, but we've still got another 11 days until we can find out which one we're having (not that I'm counting or anything...!)

Also, has anyone else been experiencing twinges, aches or crampy pains quite low down in their bump? I've been feeling a bit sore on and off for the last few days, usually after standing or walking for quite a while. Been trying to ignore it but starting to wonder whether I ought to be worried...

musiceverywhere · 08/08/2013 17:07

Just been to tell neighbours we're going ahead with extension and got a very nasty response. Got home and burst into tears. Hmm I hate conflict and was just trying to do the right thing by keeping them informed. I knew they wouldn't be pleased but we just got a rant about how we're thoughtless neighbours and are ruining his house. Even mentioned suing us?! This is not what I need right now! We're not changing our mind, but this makes it so much more stressful. Sorry, can't comment on everyone's news as too upset. Baby ok though- blissful ignorance!

DaleyBump · 08/08/2013 17:25

Welcome mogz and up :)

What horrible neighbours music :( do they have any right to sue?

Scan was fine, there doesn't seem to be any reason for the wee man having his lazy day yesterday and he's back to his usual lively self. His head is right down low, pressing on my cervix and his back is all up my left side with his legs curving over my right side so he's all stretched out. It was great to see him again though, even if I did have to go through all the worry of last night to be able to :)

DaleyBump · 08/08/2013 17:27

Thanks for the luck hetsto, holly and frouby :)

UpTheFRIGGinDuff · 08/08/2013 18:31

Hello, I might be over sharing for a second post...
I was at work and went to the loo, when I wiped I noticed blood,I have had cramping pains for days do I phoned the MW who has said I need to come in.
The hospital is nearly an hour away,my sil is going to take me there, I'm walking home from work ATM.

What should I take with me? Will I be in and out in 5 mins or could I end up there for hours/ overnight??

(bit panicked and on phone so sorry for confusing and or badly constructed post!)

PistachioTruffle · 08/08/2013 18:51

Up, I'd take some pjs and a change of clothes and some toiletries and stick them in a bag, just in case they take a while to get round to seeing you or want to keep you in to observe or anything, you might not need them but if the hospital is an hour away it's probably easier to take them with you just in case rather than trying to get hold of stuff later. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that you get some swift reassurance and get home to your own bed tonight Flowers

2Labradors · 08/08/2013 19:10

upthe take some PJs, toothbrush & lots of reading material.

I had exactly the same last week, I was in work and when I wiped there was a streak of red blood. I went to the hospital, had BP & wee checked, plus listened to baby's heartbeat. She also checked my cervix. We were there for a few hours and they let me go home. I lost blood following the speculum to check my cervix, was old browny blood. I had had pain for a few days but the midwife put that down to stretching pains, and I must admit that my tum has just sprouted. Hope you get the all clear quickly too, just wanted to share tht I'd had the same very recently Flowers

Dusty04 · 08/08/2013 19:28

Had my 20 week scan today. We're not finding out so we're team white!

All ok, little one sticking tongue, yawning, waving and laying with both hands behind head totally chilling! So lovely to see..

Slightly low lying placenta but they think it'll move.. Back at 36 weeks just to check :)

UpTheFRIGGinDuff · 08/08/2013 20:31

Thanks guys Thanks
Labradors that is reassuring! Hope you're feeling better now.
I'm here now, heard heartbeat, they've taken off with my pee sample, and I'm waiting on a doctor...apparently it's busy on labour ward so I could be here a while yet.
At least I have Brew and I can hear a newborn crying, I want to go and sqidge it!

ccsays · 08/08/2013 21:33

Hope it goes alright UpTheFRIGGinDuff! Also, I pretty much want to squidge every baby I go past at the moment, but think I might be hearing from social services if I did that!

Got the 20 week (at 21 weeks scan) tomorrow, so pretty nervous! Think I'll let myself buy a few bits and bobs for bab after that. She's been kicking lots today though, including a good hoof in the side earlier in, so hopefully everything will be ok, touch wood.

In other, non-baby related news my Swedish pal just posted a picture of herself with Alexander frigging Skarsgård!!! I'll just be over here, weeping with jealousy Envy
