Hello shiny new thread!

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
dinkystinky · 15/07/2013 07:03

Morning all. Shiv - glad you tracked us down. Andrea - glad you and ds are home - thank you for sharing your birth story.

Tom - there was no a/c in the birth centre when I gave birth and it was boiling - but didn't notice until a good few hours after the birth. A cool shower and lots of cold drinks helped. J is often just in a nappy and thin muslin swaddle or nappy and thin vest in this heat - which looks upset to be with us for another couple of weeks at least.

Ds2, while delighted with his little brother, has taken to doing nocturnal poos in his nighttime nappies. rather hoping this phase passes soon as didn't envisage having two sets of pooey nappies a night to change at this stage!!

elliejjtiny · 15/07/2013 07:03

Congratulations to all the new mums and good luck to those being induced/c-sectioned today.

I've been up since 3.30am. First feeding, then pumping and sterilizing the bottles. Was just about to go back to bed when DS1 shouts from upstairs that he has no clean school trousers. He has about 10 pairs and only 1 is in the wash basket so where have they all gone?! Thank goodness for the 15 min cycle on the washing machine and the tumble dryer. Now the older 3 are all up for the day and no chance of sleep until tonight. Love having a newborn, love having 4 children but really need some sleep and lots of it.

dinkystinky · 15/07/2013 07:29

Oh no Ellie - hope you get a nap in while the younger 2 are sleeping today - and ds1s school trousers turn up!!

Andrea75 · 15/07/2013 07:37

slouching yes Dr told me air con was being ordered but hadn't arrived yet. You may be first to enjoy it! Here's hoping! MLU was v cool with air con but Dr said it"s too cool for babes. My lo felt cool in heat of post natal ward yesterday and midwife wrapped him up snugly. Now he's ok with one sheet and babygro i think.

Hope all the cs and inductions go smoothly today :-)

IcingTheCake · 15/07/2013 08:49

Phie - hope you get to sleep eventually! I keep getting people tell me i obviously dont understand how tricky babies are if i would rather she was here than not, normally by men! It's a bit Hmm come back to me when you've been heavily pregnant in this heat and we can talk then!

Andrea lovely birth story :) im glad you got in before lockdown! Im praying my hospital doesn't getting full as they redirect to west Middlesex and im a snob I've heard it's not that nice there! Grin

slouching i keep getting that from people the whole "any twinges? Because today would be perfect for me" tempted to reply with a swift fuck off baby will come when shes ready but i can't bring myself to reply so i just raise my eyebrows at them, passive aggressive me Grin

dinky thats bad luck! Two pooey nappies for the price of one! Grin hope it stops soon for you

ellie ah that cant be great, when they all need you at different times, minimises your odds of sleep! Hope you do manage to get a little rest today regardless!

39+2

twirliedobbit · 15/07/2013 09:42

these not this!

MrsRoss26 · 15/07/2013 09:47

Congratulations thinking and welcome to the world Morven - a beautiful name (Celtic?) and very nice to have avoided induction!

Also...fed up with this heat, fed up with being huge, and fed up of my cankles. Come ON baby!Sad Hopefully paddling pools / fans etc. are working for you all today.

38+5 and too far off...

photographerlady · 15/07/2013 10:18

Morning. Due date here, late pregnancy waiting game is so boring now. Find myself out buying things I dont need and drinking loads of iced raspberry tea leaf :)

photographerlady · 15/07/2013 10:19

Oh and congrats thinking!!

SundaySunshine · 15/07/2013 10:22

Congratulations Andrea and thinking great news Smile
Hope you are recovering well and enjoying lovely snuggles with your babes.

Shiv fantastic news about Oliver, that little man just amazes me. So glad you managed to get out on the sunshine, even if you did end up with interesting tan lines Smile

I can't remember who was asking but a cool water mist spray is essential on the labour ward, gives DH's a good job to do whilst you're labouring too. The good thing about this weather is that I'm getting loads of skin to skin with L [smile[

dinky oh no! Not more night time poos.

Ach! I've got no clothes to wear on this heat, but just can't face the shopping centre, might be a good excuse to do some online shopping Grin

PhieEl06 · 15/07/2013 10:31

Morning all! Thanks for sharing your story andrea glad that everything was okay with the meconium situation! Good to hear your home too!

TomDaleysTrunks bit better thank you, looks lovely & purplish today instead of black! Smile
dinky aww I hope DS2 manages to get out of nocturnal pooing soon, do you think there could be something on his mind which makes him do it?
Slouching & icing finally managed to fall to sleep at about 3 after eating half of one of those big Malteasers bars. Blush Also getting those comments icing I have a new death stare though that seems to warn them away!
Congratulations thinking, glad you avoided induction! Bet the boys are delighted with their little sister!

I really thought last night the not being able to sleep was the start of something, unfortunately I'm still here & very much pregnant, everyone keeps telling me well at least if I go over there's a light at the end of the tunnel with induction but I don't think they get that I am so scared of being induced, knowing my luck that's what's going to happen & it's making me hysterical, sorry guys feeling very teary today!

Hope everyone else is doing well & popping out babies! 39+2

IcingTheCake · 15/07/2013 10:58

Phie i was terrified I'd have the be induced too, but honestly, look for the thread on positive induction stories- so many! They aren't all bad, it helped me relax a bit!

Im actually feeling happier than i have for a long time today, getting snappy with people asking if baby is here yet but if i take that out of it, im really quite content, i managed to shave my legs (only took half an hour) it sounds trivial but it just feels so lovely! Grin

I hope everyone else manages to find something to enjoy today Smile whether its a newborn or just some 'bump' time, starting to realise i won't have her all to myself soon! Not sure if thats a good or bad thing! Grin

PhieEl06 · 15/07/2013 11:07

That's the thing though icing even reading so many positive stories I cannot muster up any positive thoughts or feelings about it! I shaved my legs on Saturday & still so glad I did I feel less like a walking womb & more human!! Smile

IcingTheCake · 15/07/2013 11:13

Hopefully it just won't come to that, but if it does, i hope its quick for you anyway and you have a nice birth regardless! Smile I cant stop feeling my lovely smooth legs! Grin

MummyKanny · 15/07/2013 11:20

Ah sending hugs, Phie, I know how you feel! I'm struggling to keep my spirits up today. Running out of things to do while I wait for baby. Everyone keeps telling me to enjoy the peace, rest, go to a park, etc but I just want to meet baby now! I've just had a phone call from the plumber who said "oh it's your first baby, you're bound to be late" - NOT the right thing to say! Angry

Sunday I think online shopping is definitely the way forward!

Ellie what a start to the week! Hope you get some good rest soon.

TomDaleysTrunks hope your baby arrives before Friday. I really hope my birth centre has air conditioning. DH's lunchtime task is to get some more cooling spray for the labour, I don't know if one bottle is going to be enough...

Right, need to get off the computer and head out in the sunshine. Perhaps some Vitamin D will get rid of the grump.

Have a lovely day all x

Abzs · 15/07/2013 11:36

Congratulations thinking and everyone else. thinking I hope you escape the hospital sauna quickly...

Good name choice cheek Grin

princessllama I think it was you who asked about the building work - it is still very noisy and there's no way I can keep the windows shut in this weather. I am working on the assumption that J will never have any problems with being distracted by background noise having this going on so early in his life.
