Hello shiny new thread!

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
SlouchingPanda · 14/07/2013 20:42

Well, this baby listened and has shown no signs of wanting to appear today. DH will be back at 9ish so I was hoping that things might start gently towards the end of the day... no such luck. I have turned into the very cliche of an overdue pregnant woman and scrubbed/cleaned/tidied and polished so much that I nearly fell over as the rug slipped on my shiny clean hallway floor.

Congratulations Andrea - glad to hear all is well.

MrsRoss - DH is pleased with the new coffee machine... I think that's what really matters but it does make a mean espresso! I fear that in the absence of any exciting baby news I have made myself out to be some total caffeine addict - we only had the old one cos we inherited it, but I did become rather partial to a pre-commute caffeine fix.

Thinking - good luck for tomorrow!

Phie - glad that you went to get checked over and that all is okay. How's your bruise looking?

Well fingers crossed that something might happen tomorrow. I rather suspect I'll be back for sweep number 2 on Tuesday though...

Congrats cheek!

I'm awaiting watching the White queen & really want some diet coke but wondering if that's a bad idea as elcs in the morn-does anyone know? I googled but it just said no pop afterwards.

Feel like I should eat now but went out for lunch-risotto & had some melon an hour ago & don't feel hungry which is a complete first for me!

Had a ton of jobs to do tonight before hospital tomorrow but think I've resigned myself to leaving the place as it's usual tip!

Hope everyone is coping & good luck to the others going in tomorrow x

Evelyn 38+6

SlouchingPanda · 14/07/2013 20:50

Evelyn - diet coke will be fine tonight as long as you starve from when they've told you to. I couldn't drink it now though as it would keep me awake!

Shiv - hurrah! Nice to see you back.

Actually I think Persuasion is being induced today...

Not sure about coke before an elcs Evelyn - perhaps one of our resident medics can opine. Good luck for tomorrow!

evelynj · 14/07/2013 21:02

Thanks guys-I've gone for the decaff tea & carrot cake option to be on the safe side!

SundaySunshine · 14/07/2013 21:21

Congrats to cheek and badmissm glad you and babes are all ok and recovering well, sounds like you both had a bit of a time of it!

Hats off to Esme for getting an 11 pounder out in 4 pushes!! That's some going!

I really feel for those of you with bumps still, this heat is relentless, it must be pretty tough, sending you cool wet moss vibes

Damn! It's hot! There's just no air. L finding it difficult to settle tonight.

Hope you are managing better than me to keep cool

SundaySunshine · 14/07/2013 21:39

Ooh good luck t those of you with elcs / inductions tomorrow Smile

MummyKanny · 14/07/2013 21:42

Good luck Thinking and Evelyn! Look forward to hearing your news.

Lovely to hear of all the al fresco dining.

The room thermometer has hit 28 degrees in the bedroom, no idea how we will keep baby cool in this heat...

Can I ask others what happened at their 40 week midwife's appointment? I've been told my usual antenatal clinic is full and I've to see my GP instead. I'm a bit nervous about this as last time the GP told me the baby was transverse when it wasn't Hmm so I don't have much confidence.

MummyKanny · 14/07/2013 21:44

Hello Shiv! How is Oliver doing?

Sending induction vibes to all the overdue bumps - hope all our babies arrive soon to enjoy the sunshine with us!

VinegarDrinker · 14/07/2013 21:48

Good luck tomorrow evelyn Thinking and anyone else! Thinking - I have no idea how you have coped the last 12 days without losing the plot totally, especially with the weather and solo parenting your 3 boys! Anyway hopefully this will be the last night you go to bed pregnant (that sounds wrong somehow but YKWIM).

Hot, hot, hot here tonight again. Totally I think Naomi and Bethan may have swapped time zones - for the first week or more she was going 4/5 hourly overnight between feeds (so only really one night feed) and 2 hourly in the day. Last night she not only wanted to feed constantly she also wanted to be wide awake and playing at 3am Hmm

dinkystinky · 14/07/2013 21:52

MummyKanny - its 28 degrees in our bedroom too (at the top of the house). We're basically staying on the ground floor during the day (alot cooler) or co sleeping on the first floor in the spare room during the day if need be (abit cooler). J is in a nappy and muslin or nappy and light vest to sleep. We dont have 40 week appts for 2nd time plus mums where I am - from what I recollect of my 40 week apptment with DS1, they did blood pressure, wee check, palpated, checked engagement and measurements and booked me in for my 41 week appointment.

IcingTheCake · 14/07/2013 23:52

Is it just me or is it wayyyyy hotter tonight?! I cant even go upstairs, i kept the blackout blind closed all day so as to not let the sun in, the fan is on but its just not making enough difference, im not downstairs with the fan on again, sucking ice cubes to try and cool down Blush

Just want to labour now!! I love the sun but this is getting silly Sad

Supershiv1 · 15/07/2013 00:37

mummykanny Do you know what? I think I can see kight at the end of the tunnel, & that one day I might actually be able to take Oliver home. We're on day 93 of living in hospital now.
I nipped out today to the hospital 'it's a knockout' day for about 2 hrs and git really burnt as I've generally been in the ward during the nice weather. Exoressing keeps your tolerance to the sun low too.
I have a lovely line where I was carrying my bag. Nice.

Can't believe Oliver still wasn't due to be here yet and have bump envy - although nit in this weather.
I think Kate will give birth on 17th....my original EDD.
Love to all xx

IcingTheCake · 15/07/2013 00:56

Lovely to see you on here shiv Oliver is doing so fab! Cant believe he's not passed his due date yet! Shock What a star Smile

PhieEl06 · 15/07/2013 01:37

Sending sympathies icing on pains but definitely agree that at least with a baby OH can do some of the hard work!

Slouching - bruise is black & painful, I look like I've been involved in a fight but better as the constant headache has now gone!

Grin

Good luck to Evelyn & thinking & all others with inductions or elcs's today/tomorrow (depending on what you class this time of night), will keep you all in my thoughts & can't wait for news!

Icing I've found I'm cooler tonight but unable to sleep at all! Agree on wanting labour now! Very impatient now!

I don't know about our 4am wide awake club tonight, I came up to bed nearly 2 hours ago & I cannot get to sleep, even now I am not even tired, but want to sleep soon as don't want to sleep in tomorrow then get into a cycle of going to bed late & waking late because I hate doing that. Anyone else awake with babies or insomnia at the moment?

TotallyEggFlipped · 15/07/2013 02:11

I hope you get some sleep, Phie. Going to sleep late & waking late might work out better with a newborn anyway - they're often a bit nocturnal to begin with.

wifey6 · 15/07/2013 02:28

Lovely to read of the new arrivals..have been busy settling in to a family of 4 so haven't been on MN or FB for a few days now.
Hope all waiting for their babies are coping ok in this heat.

Quinandthem · 15/07/2013 02:34

I don't know how people handled night time feeds without Internet phones.

Lying here with phone propped up on Sophia as she's drinking away. Annoyingly she was sound asleep and did a huge poo so needed changing - that was a good 40 mins ago. I think she's asleep on the nipple but when you try to move her she starts again.

Hope Monday brings lots of babies and cooler weather as we were struggling to keep her cool today

PhieEl06 · 15/07/2013 02:41

Still not managed to get to sleep yet, at least you ladies have lovely newborn reasons to be awake, I am very envious! Envy

Andrea75 · 15/07/2013 04:55

Hi all. Catching up a bit. Got home yesterday at 10pm as only thin meconium in waters and ds2 is doing fine. Last night couldn't sleep as so hot so went to watch telly at 130am having bh probably quite regularly but didnts hurt so i ignored. Came upstairs at 3am laid in bed and felt a pop and woke Dh as waters had gone. Noticed they went clear. Called friend to babysit and went to hospital. New MLU was fable with air con and lovely natural rooms. Whilewe waited waters gushed oh the right glamour of pregnancy! They rushed me round to room filled pool but i was only 2cm so just laboured roundroom then they noticed the meconium! so monitored for gourd but baby kicked strap thinguyen off and it was so irritating! So contractions slowed. Mat unit on divert front 4am as so busy we were last in! slouching i think you live near? Hopefully mad rush over now so all clear for you this week!
Eventually at 7am there was a midwife free on delivery suite so i went down there with strong contractions being told not to push in lift!! Got g and a in delivery suite and at 824am baby boy with no name was born. Need to confirm name asap with Dh!! All in all it went well. Ds2 needed some o2 after being born but he is fine :-) thanks for fb msgs. Hope you all get newborn snuggled soon and weather cools off a bit!

Andrea75 · 15/07/2013 04:57

Sorry for typos was feeding dc3 and updating. Not sure what "gourd"was meant to be!!!!

TomDaleysTrunks · 15/07/2013 05:08

andrea thanks for sharing your story. Sounds like you did a fab job. Glad you are home.

Had sex last night to try and trigger things as sick of BH! Caused a small bleed, possibly a bloody show. Here's hoping something gets going. I really need to have this baby before Friday - DH is on call Fri to Tues morning unless I have the baby then his pat leave will start.
Off to catch up with rest. Will be back!

shiv glad you had a bit f a break yesterday and got to see the sunshine. I've also got some dodgy tan lines. Hooray for a bit of light at the end of the tunnel. Smile

phie also wide awake! Glad DD is in crèche today. How's the bruise? You need to take it easy.

wifey congrats on new arrival.

How is everyone coping keeping babies cool? And how did people cope in labour in this heat? Bit anxious about that.

SlouchingPanda · 15/07/2013 05:35

Thanks for sharing your story Andrea and glad you are home - looking forward to hearing the name. A friend had given me the tip off that the maternity unit was closed on Sat night - well done on making it in before 'lockdown'!! I hear it's open again now (and they've got some working portable aircon on labour ward) although may not affect me anyway as clearly I'm going to be pregnant for ever.

Phie - hope you got to sleep eventually.

Shiv - great to hear your positive news. I've been lurking on your other thread. Fingers crossed for head scan tomorrow.

DH back safe and sound, and apparently it's a rest day in the Tour de France, so I am told today would be an excellent day to go into labour Hmm .

40+4
