Hello shiny new thread!

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
twirliedobbit · 14/07/2013 04:35

Congratulations badmissm and caspian is a cool name!!

I am here at 4.30am unable to sleep. No pains or anything just can't sleep. So annoyed as I was so tired yesterday too....bet the kids'll be up in a couple of hours too.
Hmmmm what to do?
Maybe I should take a leaf out of your book thinking and start planning our house makeover....and more importantly how we are going to pay for it!!

SlouchingPanda · 14/07/2013 07:26

Thai curry - tick
Pineapple - tick
Fully functioning caffeine delivery device - tick (hurrah!)
Braxton hicks that could crush a walnut - tick
Feeling like this baby is finally engaging - tick

But still no sign of baby...
DH off to the arse end of nowhere working away again so today's another bad day for any sort of labouring... but I'm so bored!

Congrats BadMissM - good to see you back (and the photos are gorgeous).

Any more news Waves? respect for getting through your set yesterday!

40+3... dum-de-dum...

PS Twirlie - baking is the answer to 4am wakes! But I feel your pain. Hope you have chance to nap later.

wavesandsmiles · 14/07/2013 07:34

No more news from me, everything eased around 11pm and I had a brilliant sleep til about 6am. Just started getting cramps again so think I could be in for a long latent phase as I was with DS. Good thing too as DD woke up crying and after giving her calpol for temperature she said she felt sick. Grabbed my sick bowl and she promptly missed and vommed all over her blanket and my duvet. Poor little thing. I've just stuck the washing on. Should be playing again today but may give it a miss as it is further away and don't want to be stuck miles away with vomiting child and labour moving on. But if I give it a miss I'm quite sure I will curse myself and end up not having this baby for another 5 weeks.

Good news on the checklist slouching and congrats to you badmiss

Super hot here today and has been since I got up at 6. At least the washing will dry quickly Smile

twirliedobbit · 14/07/2013 08:04

Alas panda, I am RUBBISH at baking....cooking not too shabby but can't quite manage anything more than a banana loaf backing wise. I just fb-ed and mn-ted for an hour is so then went back to bed. Kids didn't wake till 7 so think that should do.
Hope things progress for you today too, especially now thT everything is in place- well except for dh! Is he close enough to get back if required?
Waves- sounds jut like me this time around. Other 3, waters broke then induced, but this time I feel like I've been getting cramps for days.... I think you would be wise to slack off today's festival though, can't imagine performing through these cramps and especially with a poorly girl in this heat.
Have nice days everyone, hopefully there'll be some further arrivals today!

cheekbyjowl · 14/07/2013 09:21

hello. not had a chance to fully catch uo yet on new tgread but looking forward to hearing how all are doing. just wanted to say thank you so much for your encouragement and tips particularly on contractions. I went till 7am on paracetemol then drove to hospital where I expected to be turned away. nurses started to prepare the long labour speech but were surprised to find I had dilated to 5cm. turns out sprog (now a joseph) didn't enjoy contractions any more than I did and his heart rate dropped during each one..a buzzer was pressed and I think within 20min I was in theater under general anaesthetic and baby arrived safely. the care I had was amazing and God has been very kind to the three of us who are all healthy though dh says hes aged 3 years :)

a word of encouragement to others. as I had a emcs under GA I didn't get the chance to get skin to skin and he came out wanting breakfast and wss bottle fed before I came round. I was a little worried it might.make breast feeding difficult but the midwife showed me what to do and he's feeding from the breast like a trooper. so even though my preference wouldve been to get sts etc even if things are taken out of your control it doesn't mean that breastfeeding has,to be a no no. hope that reassures some people. we were discharged the next day and all just survived a very nervous first night without medics on tap :)

so joseph born 12th.july . 7 pounds 13oz xx

SlouchingPanda · 14/07/2013 09:21

Alas, he's 180 miles away... but I have some very understanding friends on standby!

Also just heard that the hospital I'm booked at is full and maternity on divert. So all in all a good day for sitting back chilling with my legs crossed!

Congratulations Cheek x

SlouchingPanda · 14/07/2013 09:33

Cross post with Cheese - congratulations on Joseph's birth! Good to hear you are both doing despite a frenzied arrival into the world. Your poor DH - hope he is okay too.

Congratulations badmissm cheek and caspian

Wow you ladies have been talking up a storm I need to pay attention more :)

Anyone else like me thinking they will be pregnant forever? I went to Bath yesterday for walking, New Forest on Friday I think I am just stir crazy and want to go into labour. Due dates on Monday I think I am just so impatient with my BFMB. Please don't be over 9lbs ;)

MrsRoss26 · 14/07/2013 09:52

cheek thanks for sharing your labour /emcs story, what a whirlwind for you all, and what a relief that you and baby were ok. It's really useful to read about such positive outcomes, especially with bf post-surgery.

slouching are you pleased with the new coffee machine? You're all set for baby now, right? Grin

photographer your message (on fb and here) has really given me a craving to head to Bath, but I'm reluctant to join the hoarded...today's conundrum!

pocopearl · 14/07/2013 10:43

congrats cheek even if a little traumatic for you and your dh but I bet its all worth it :) Flowers

sadly my regular bh last night was simply regular bh and my little dc is sitting a little too comfy where it is :(

have a lovely day everyone and try and stay cool, my feet are already swelling up again today so dh has brought a paddling pool which he has put in the lounge and already filled it up with a fan pointing at me. im spoilt

photographerlady · 14/07/2013 11:24

MrsRose it's a lovely place to walk around. Very busy though we snuck in to the cinema for a movie to cool down midday :)

TotallyEggFlipped · 14/07/2013 11:40

Congratulations, cheek! I love the name Joseph. So glad you & DS have bounced back from his dramatic arrival & BF is working out for you.

Sounds like a good day to keep your legs crossed & relax, Slouching.

Glad your DH is looking after you, poco

lancslass83 · 14/07/2013 12:10

Congrats cheek and bad missM, sounds like both deliveries had their dramas but glad all ok.

Anyone else finding this heat making them itch? Waiting for latest round of liver test results and definitely more itchy but hoping it might be the weather rather than anything getting worse

Thinkingof4 · 14/07/2013 12:55

Congratulations cheek definitely a dramatic birth but healthy baby and healthy mum at the end is the most important bit.

badmiss I'm glad you are home, must have been a long week stuck in hospital esp in this heat

poco and waves sending you labour vibes, can't be far off

slouching hope you are enjoying the new coffee machine, sods law things will kick off today when dh is away working!

Well the sun is back again today and it's hot! We went down to beach and met a friend by chance so the kids all played while we sat and enjoyed the sun. Think I'll stay in for the next 3 hours though as really too hot for me now.
Really strange to think that in just over 24 hours I'll be (hopefully) starting to labour and I'll be so close to meeting this wee one. Can't wait!!! (of course there is still a slim chance I'll go into labour myself before then...fx

Enjoy the sun everyone, keep cool
41+5

dinkystinky · 14/07/2013 14:07

Glad both you and Joseph are OK Cheek. Sounds like a pretty dramatic birth story (as does Badmissm's)- hope poor dh is ok as is pretty scary having to stand by hoping all is OK but not being able to do anything to help. Do you have arnica to help with recovery post op? Glad you are home now x

Andrea75 announced on fb she had a little boy this morning - staying in for OBS due to meconium.

Thinking - sounds like you had a lovely morning.

Ds1 got a green belt at his grading today - so proud mummy again. just about to go have lunch in the garden (from farmers market) when J finishes his lunch. Paddling pool is out - am v tempted to go sit in it...

MightBeMad · 14/07/2013 15:42

Congrats cheek and badmissm. Sorry to hear you both had a bit of a tricky delivery but gad it's all worked out okay in the end.

Paddling pools sound very tempting! Might have to go and buy one!

Lancs the heat is also making me itch a bit - like you I'm on alert for it - I have my next round of liver tests on Wednesday. I do think it's the heat though (fingers and toes crossed!).

38+2

PhieEl06 · 14/07/2013 15:58

Afternoon all, marking my place on once again a greatly named thread, thanks dinky & slouching!

I've skim read through since my last post so although caught up there's no personals sorry!! Congratulations to all that have had babies though in the last two days, I hope you're all getting along nicely!

I had a bit of a fall last night, bump first & a nice bang to the head from the wall, although i felt fine, after the encouragement of our MN Facebook group I went to triage to get checked out, everything is fine & was popped onto monitor for 40 mins. I just have one hell of a black bruise on my head now! They did tell me though that I'm having regular "tightenings" which are being picked up on the trace & this could be the very early start of something but no signs yet. Sad

I hope everyone is well & I promise to do some personals with my next post.
39+1 (how on earth did that happen!)

IcingTheCake · 14/07/2013 17:12

Sorry im being a bit rubbish, i cant remember any of the things i wanted to reply too Sad baby brain!

I hope everyone is okay and managing coping with the heat - whoever went to the beach im very jealous!

Been having lots of sharp pains 'down below' nothing regular, just think its her head fully engaging to be honest... But really painful hips at nighttime Sad i know newborns aren't easy to cope with but at least i can share responsibilities with dp then!

39+1 - it has to be less than three weeks now!

TotallyEggFlipped · 14/07/2013 17:36

Thinking - the countdown can begin!

dinky - congratulations to DS1! Farmers market lunch in the garden sounds perfect.

Glad everything checked out ok & baby is fine, Phie

We've had a lovely day - lunch outside with my parents then round to a friends house for afternoon tea in the garden. Going to have dinner outside again too. I can't remember the last time I ate a meal inside! Grin

dinkystinky · 14/07/2013 19:10

Esme missed your earlier post - glad you had a nice straightforward birth and are home now with Abigail.

Phie - glad you and baby are OK.

Totally - your all fresco day sounds great. We gave j a baby bath outside this evening as it was cooler in the shade than the house!

Thinking - you'll see baby v v soon now x love the extreme makeover nesting.

Slouching - baby must be waiting for dh to be back now!

Photographer - sounds like youve been making the most of the glorious weather with your trips - good on you! Dh and I got married in Bath - its a lovely place.

Icing - not long till due date now.

Poco, Waves and anyone else in the early stages - hope it all goes smoothly for you.
