Hello shiny new thread!

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Persuasion · 26/07/2013 02:05

Congrats shocking! Are you still in hospital or are you home now?

Regarding slings I have a wrap from Joy and Joe. It's similar to moby but much cheaper. I've only had her in it a few times because of the heat and because I haven't needed it around the house while dh is still on leave, but when I have used it she's loved it. I expect to use it much more from Monday when dh is back at work, and if this weather ever cools off!

Right, am back off to bed as F had finished her feed. I hope to hear news of other babies soon Grin

Shockingundercrackers · 26/07/2013 02:14

Sorry also meant to say for anyone overdue, try not to worry. It's horrible and you think it will never end but then as if by magic... It does. Keep faith in Mother Nature. Those babies of yours are coming out!

SundaySunshine · 26/07/2013 03:22

Congratulations phie and shocking hope you are both recovering well and enjoying snuggles, look forward to names and birth stories Smile

Good luck to the other labourers, you too will get to see your little bundles of joy soon (if you haven't already) don't lose heart x

TotallyEggFlipped · 26/07/2013 04:30

Congratulations, Shocking!

Re: slings. We have a Moby stretchy wrap which is great, but too warm to use at the moment. It's a bit too long for me, but I'm relatively tiny - it is plenty long enough for tall/bigger people to use too. We also have a Manduca which is great for babies to toddlers. A friend gave us a Baby Bjorn, which I don't really like - I find it uncomfortable, but DH prefers it to the Moby (which he won't even try because he thinks it's too hippy Confused)

SlouchingPanda · 26/07/2013 04:56

Congratulations, Shocking, on your new arrival and on beating induction!

Congrats phie and shocking hope you are enjoying lives as outies!

I've been quiet as been in latent labour for 3 days now and rather fed up. Spent all day at hospital yesterday due to persistent back pain that meant I hadn't slept in 48 hours. They tested me etc and found 2+protein in my wee and so did more tests, but nothing. Other than establishing no infection, happy baby and erratic contractions, they don't know why the protein is there. On a good point I was given codeine up there and some more to bring home so I actually slept last night.

Now hoping that my baby arrives pretty quickly.

Sling wise, I have a moby wrap which I can't wait to use. Once you get into serious sling hunting it seems there is a huge amount available, could probably spend more on slings than on a travel system! Hoping the moby wrap I picked up for £10 at a nearly new sale (it was actually new though) suits baby and me Smile

Morning all. Well, we are home! Discharged at 10pm last night after I jokingly asked what I needed to do to get my freedom! Bit shocked to begin with but happy to have spent a night in my own bed. DS' face was a picture this morning as he was obviously in bed asleep when we got home.

Popping back for a paediatrician check this morning. Feeding is going ok. Trying to find a happy medium between her getting as much as she can from me without me finding the whole process horrifying. Topped her up a couple of times. She's only needed a few ml to content her so I must be going something right with my boobs!

Fx to all those about to pop and congrats to the new mums!

twirliedobbit · 26/07/2013 08:04

Ah congrats phie and slouching such lovely news.
Still here, had some rather frosty midwifed overnight that made me feel like I was being difficult (I am the most laid back whatever happens happens 4th time mum ever) was just interested, even made to feel silly when I just let them know that I'd had a nosebleed. (Wasn't asking for then to do anything just thought they should know cause I've never had one in my life and it was a change.) still they finish soon and day shift come back, just hope I don't have to endure them for another night..
Apart from that, all quiet on the western front. Another pessary will be given today so fx something happens or that my bishops score has gone up by 2 so they can break my waters.
I had a lovely ergonomic carrier with dc3 was expensive but worth it, I do dance and exercise classes with baby so found the slings too stretchy, and that the carriers have more waist support for more vigorous movements.
Good luck anyone still waiting as an innie, and enjoy those snuggles all you newbies. Hope I join you today.

dinkystinky · 26/07/2013 08:13

Twirlie - hope your DC comes soon and you get to escape home. Keeping everything crossed for you for a swift labour when it starts. Waves - hope your latent stage turns into a v quick active stage soon.

Congrats Shocking - ds2 was clearly just biding his time!

Glad you're home Mrsd and all going well.

You have my sympathy Princess - my dh is a workoholic too.

Thought Js cold was getting better but its come back with a vengeance - he barely slept last night bless him as he had trouble breathing - ended up holding him up on me most of the night.

TotallyEggFlipped · 26/07/2013 08:15

I really hope you join the outies today, twirlie! And you get lovely midwives today to make up for last night. Grin

Glad to hear you're home, Mrsd. It's so much nicer to sleep in your own bed.

TotallyEggFlipped · 26/07/2013 08:18

Sorry to hear J is still suffering with the evil cold, dinky. It sounds like you had a rough night. I don't know if there's much you can do for a newborn with a cold. Maybe you could have a hot toddy yourself so he might benefit via BF. Smile

MightBeMad · 26/07/2013 08:24

Congratulations shocking!!!

Good luck twirlie, I hope the next pessary does the trick.

Keep going waves. Baby will be with you soon. Fingers crossed for a quick and straight forward active stage when it arrives.

Dinky, sorry to hear you had a tough night. Hopefully j will turn the corner today.

Well, It's officially my due date today. Didn't think I'd get this far. Baby has 16 hrs to match his sister and arrive on time. Come on baby!!! Grin

Thinkingofmyfabfour · 26/07/2013 09:27

Congratulations shocking enjoy ds2

twirlie and waves hang in there won't be much longer now

Hopefully will hear from icing and photographer today too

mightbe you never know! 2nd babies do tend to arrive more quickly so you still have time!

dinky I hope you can rest today, it's a long night when the wee one won't settle

Well it was all action in this house last night. Dh had opened all the windows v wide to let some air in and a bat flew in! He spent ages trying to get it out again, eventually he resorted to (gently) batting it with a towel so it was stunned then taking it out into garden wrapped in towel and letting it go- it flew off (like the proverbial bat out of hell) so was none the worse for our it's ordeal. Then we had the most amazing thunder and lightening storm which went on for ages. Hopefully the humidity will have dropped a bit today as its been really sticky the last few days. M has her hearing test this afternoon so hopefully she will sleep at the right time for it to be done successfully.
Weekend is nearly here, can't wait!!

cheekbyjowl · 26/07/2013 10:45

excuse a post to.vent...when I went into triage we bought an hrs parking ticket at the hospital as the hospital can issue a discounted ticket on admission. however I was operated on within about an hr of arriving which was unexpected. my husband wasnt allowed to leave the ward. we have a 100 fine. Angry we've appealed and the parking company have said no on the basis the return time on.the ticket is clearly printed.

what would you guys do?

cheekbyjowl · 26/07/2013 11:20

update. I called the hospital and spoke to someone sympathetic in security so.might be ok

cantreachmytoes · 26/07/2013 11:28

Hi! I can't update the list, but DD arrived after a surprise two hour labour on her due date - 24 July. Born at home (planned, but turned out there wouldn't have been time to get to hospital anyway!) and it was wonderful - I was very lucky!

Congratulations to everyone else on the "outies" list and thinking of those still waiting - I was in that game last time and it's definitely not fun.

BB01 · 26/07/2013 11:30

Hope you get to put your feet up today Dinky even if it's only for half an hour.

Re slings, lots of people recommended Close Caboo and it's been a lifesaver so far. Often is the only thing that will settle her and has allowed us to have an evening out while she snoozed peacefully all night! I'm starting to turn into a bit of a baby wearer now add she is obviously so happy in it and I can get jobs done while enjoying cuddles with her all day! However it is a bit warm for going for a walk in this weather so have been using the pram most the time. There are definitely cooler ones out there.

Really good luck to all those in labour or waiting to be. It can be a long hard slog but just try to go with it and it will seem such a short amount of time once you've had a baby for a few weeks! As a midwife told me when I was giving her death stares it is only a maximum of two or three days out of your life. Hard to remember this I know when it all kicks off

MightBeMad · 26/07/2013 11:43

Congratulations can'treach!!!

MightBeMad · 26/07/2013 11:44

Congratulations can'treach!!!

TotallyEggFlipped · 26/07/2013 13:25

Congratulations cantreach!

N vomited up all of her feed three times in 90 minutes this morning. I'm currently feeding her again in M&S, so really hope we don't have a repeat performance!

esme80 · 26/07/2013 13:40

Congrats cantreach!

So A's jaundice levels were ok, so didnt need to go to hospital, a relief! Mw appointment again tomorrow, hopefully well be discharged.

My right boob suddenly got quite sore today, and have a white spot on nipple. Any ideas? Off to google...

Gah thinking, a bat?! That would be one of my worst nightares! Shudders at thought and closes all windows to be safe...

MightBeMad · 26/07/2013 14:10

Good news Esme! Hope the boob is less sore soon. Could it be a blocked duct?

dinkystinky · 26/07/2013 14:57

Congrats cantreach - hope all going well with you and dd.

Totally - fx N has got all her chu during out her system for today.

Esme - great news re the blood results. Re boob - does dd have white patches in her mouth? If so, it coukd be thrush.

dinkystinky · 26/07/2013 14:58

Thinking - sounds like it was all go round yours last night!!

Thinkingofmyfabfour · 26/07/2013 15:08

Congratulations cantreach, lucky you were planning home birth! That's the second due date baby on this thread I think (also ?vinegar)
