Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Natalieand · 23/07/2013 17:08

chickieo because I had no movement for two days at 25 weeks.... I've had plenty of movements since then and heard the heartbeat twice since then and I had a scan before the appt and saw the heart beating and he's obviously growing to be weighing 2.11lbs

ananikifo · 23/07/2013 17:22

Pink buttons- I got a letter from my GP yesterday about booking the whooping cough vaccine. I'm 27 weeks today so could have it starting next week. I had already asked the mw at my 25 week appt and she said just book it through the GP surgery. It's given by a practice nurse, at least in this area.

Warlin your employer sounds awful and I can't believe that message was communicated by HR. They should know your rights even if your line manager doesn't. Good for you for standing your ground.

Best wishes to everyone with gtt tests and to notso with your diabetes. The diet for gdm is basically healthy eating eating and avoiding large sources of simple sugars like fizzy drinks and sweets. I want to say it's not complicated but if you're anywhere near as hungry as me these days it may take willpower. Good luck and I hope you and your baby stay healthy through it.

Speaking of which, is anyone else starving all the time? I don't think I can eat enough in the day. I was so hungry at lunch today that I ate way too much, and even made sure it was slow-release carbs, and then I felt overfull for two hours, at which time I was ravenously hungry again! I've always had a good appetite but this is ridiculous.

Also am I right that the third trimester cutoff is inconsistent? Is it 27 or 28 weeks?

ananikifo · 23/07/2013 17:27

Sorry crosspost Natalie sorry to hear about your terrible appointment.

claphammama · 23/07/2013 17:43

How funny comtesse! I have exactly the same thoughts Grin. I think Conrad is a really strong and great name for a grown man but just can't imagine it for a little baby!! This is actually my main doubt. Otherwise I really like it. It's the only one we both like. I used to go to school with a Conrad (spelled Konrad) who was absolutely goooooorgeous... Still remember those piercing blue yes (pst... don't tell DP! Grin)
It would probably be Conrad Oscar for us. However, DP's surname starts with W so he is concerned the baby would be called COW at school... Honestly... who would even know his middle name at school?! My DP can be so special... I'm glad you like it too :-)

I'm doing the vitamin K injection - read a lot about it last time and thought pros outweighed the cons.

sorry about your appointment natalie, at least it's over now!

and hope all is good flyer?

By the way, we haven't heard from Crookie for a long time... and she lost her mucus plug a couple of weeks ago... do you remember? I hope she is ok...

Tarlia · 23/07/2013 17:56

flyer how are you doing? I must say I've had a discharge moment. I've head the same as badger and Clapham that a pad would be soaked with an hour.

clap I think a trip that early would be ok, but def nice with some help from MIL.

legally how strange to go get hard skin treatment to be sent away with that info! I wouldn't trust it tbh and not sure he is qualified to even make such diagnosis!! DS walked at 14 months, but sometimes goes over his ankle and can get in funny positions etc. the main thing for children is no ballet or similar (!!) where they use these capabilities and to do physical activities that build muscle around the joints. I sprain and dislocate a lot - dislocated wrist just getting into bed a few months ago.

Regarding baby names, we have to choose a name from an approved government list, or fight with evidence to get our name put into the list which can take weeks and not always granted. Eeekk.

blondies how about Amilie (ie the French Emily), Eloise, or Emmie? I love felicity though!

Was it just me that wasn't aware of the Prince Albert ref before google? Haha Blush

chickieno1 · 23/07/2013 18:02

What's the Prince Albert ref?

chickieno1 · 23/07/2013 18:03

Good that baby s growing well natalie

HotSoupDumpling · 23/07/2013 18:04

Tarlia - you're an innocent!

I'm having the whooping cough vaccine this week, to get it over and done with. I hate needles.

So exhausted and lethargic today. I do wish sometimes I had the old me back. The one who could turn around in bed without having to plan it like a military operation.

Natalieand · 23/07/2013 18:35

According to sky news the royal baby is leaving hospital within 30 minutes :-)

xuntitledx · 23/07/2013 18:45

Back from midwife and GP appointments this afternoon - 29 weeks this week.

Midwife took blood to test for anaemia and had whooping cough jab at GP's so feel like I've been poked and prodded all day!

Measured at 29 weeks aswell so all on track :)

Ellie15 · 23/07/2013 18:55

I had to ask midwife about whooping cough vaccination at 28 week appt and her response was the nhs recommend it and to contact my GP. Midwife Appts tend to be a bit rubbish tbh. I am seeing my GP next week so will talk to her. Am leaning towards having it.

ComtesseDeFrouFrou · 23/07/2013 18:59

Clapham I'm glad to hear I'm not the only one Smile

I've also been told its a bit posh - well, we're not posh exactly, but since we're both in professional jobs and have a fairly "middle class" circle (for want of a better way of describing it) I don't think it will be too strange. Interestingly, the person who said that thought it was posher than Hugo, which I've always thought was really quite posh.

Oh I don't know - we've got so many boys in our family with all the good names, it's really difficult.

Other thoughts are Rufus (which I like, but I worry has almost the opposite problem to Conrad, great for a baby/toddler, but a bit young after that), Edward or George (nice enough but a bit safe maybe and, as evidenced by this group, very popular!)

For girls we have decided on Beatrice Lydia or Claudia Elodie. But don't tell DH I told you, it's supposed to be a secret Wink

Flyer747 · 23/07/2013 19:18

No more so it must have been lots of watery discharge, yuk! Although I will monitor it.

What's this vitamin K injection I have no clue what everyone is talking about.

My sister and dp both had whooping cough and according to parents it was very nasty, so on that score I will probably have it. Is there possible side effects for the baby though?

Natalie sorry to hear dp made you upset, men can be so thoughtless sometimes.

TheFalconsmistress · 23/07/2013 19:19

I such a bag of mush at the moment crying my eyes out at the wee prince coming out the hospital what a cutie! Crown

Natalieand · 23/07/2013 19:32

Hehe falcon I had to try not to grin as dh is next to me on the sofa and I didn't want him to think I was not in a bad mood with him n e more lol

Sanjifair · 23/07/2013 19:45

I asked doctor about WC vaccine, who said ask the hospital, so I asked the hospital who said ask the midwife. What do you reckon the chances are that she'll say ask the doctor? Pretty high, I reckon!

Going back a few pages, someone mention their bump clicking. Could be 'snapping hip syndrome' - mine used to do that while running sometimes!

Clapham, I'm afraid I agree with your DP on the initials. As someone who grew up with 'humorous' initials, it was a source of piss taking, both as a child and an adult, in my job I have to use my initials a lot. I was glad to get married and ditch the last initial!

We are still discussing names, and I change my mind the whole time. My DP picked a load of unusable ones, close friends childrens names. I think not. Last time we told both sets of parents a short list of 5. Haven't got down to that number for either sex yet!

LostMySocks · 23/07/2013 19:53

Does anyone know how the measuring thing works. MW didn't say. My bump was 27cm last week when I was 28 + 4

Soupqueen · 23/07/2013 19:56

Glad it's cleared up, flyer

natalie, sounds like a rubbish day. I'd probably have forgiven DH by now, very little of it was his fault

warlin, I can't believe you were asked for a business case for mat leave?!? My work fannied about for 3 months looking into an internal secondment to cover my absence. They'd been thinking about it for 3 months before approaching the secondee, who wasn't interested. Just advertised and the first batch of cvs are dire. I think any prospect of a handover/nice wind down have disappeared......

I've been very cautious with what I've taken in pregnancy but think I will get the whooping cough vaccination. I was very ill with it as a baby, apparently it was terrifying.

comtesse, Rufus is on our list. I think it's fine for an adult, Rufus Wainwright seems to cope Grin. I also love Casper but was met with ghost comments from DH, so we're now considering Caspian, would that work for any of you?

I have no idea what the vitamin K injection is, only that it seems to be controversial?

shire thank you so much for the bed nest tip this morning. We had decided to rent one and were going to organise it this weekend as I get paid on Friday, but bit the bullet and ordered it with discount this morning. Thank you!

Whew, think that's me caught up. Sorry if I've missed anything/anyone!

Soupqueen · 23/07/2013 19:57

lost, that sounds about right. The bump should measure approximately how many weeks you are, with an error margin either side.

Natalieand · 23/07/2013 20:07

My understanding is that it gives them a boost to help their blood clot as they are suseptable to brain bleeds? I saw online somewhere the other day a mother refused vitamin k and her baby died a few weeks later from brain bleeds, I don't mean to scare monger it was just something I saw in an article online. So I will be opting for the vit k just as I did with dd.

soup I see what your saying and I knew he may not be able to make the appt so I said in advance to just give me a text and let me no so i didnt wait in the car park for him but instead he showed up with an attitude made me cry and then left :-( love the caspian would most likely be shortened to Casper anyway although I quite like Casper written as kasper

ComtesseDeFrouFrou · 23/07/2013 20:23

Soup I was thinking more of Rufus Sewell, all dark, handsome and brooding Wink

claphammama · 23/07/2013 20:31

sanji I really want to know your previous initials now! PLEASE!! Grin

comtesse I like both Rufus and Claudia, and Lydia was on my shortlist for a girl. We have similar taste in names! What other "good names" do boys in your family have? can you inspire me please?? I would love to have more than one on my shortlist...

flyer glad all seems to be good and dry! :-)

And seeing Kate leave the hospital with the baby just reminded me that I still need to book my hair and make up lady for October. Hope all of you ladies remembered before they all get fully booked...

claphammama · 23/07/2013 20:34

PS. I also have no idea what the Prince Albert think is about... what am I missing???

claphammama · 23/07/2013 20:35

haha - DP just enlightened me!!

Natalieand · 23/07/2013 20:39

I just googled 'prince Albert' and got a little more than I bargained for lol
