Lie = Your glowing vs Truth = Your sweating, freezing, puking and an emotional basket!

Lie = After the first trimester your ms will disappear vs The truth = It will be there in the second trimester and the third..... and probably after you give birth! Get used to it!

Lie = You don't look even look pregnant vs The truth = whatever, you look pregnant from space!

Lets see what we learn from the second trimester! Grin Wink

Nothing wrong with going on about things on here mrabc - we all understand your frustrations and worries! I am sure many of us on here underestimated how worrying it can be she says gnawing down the remainder of her nails and rocking back and forth Grin

enormouse · 02/07/2013 19:52

Btw, that scan pic is so beautiful humpty, so clear. You must be chuffed.
Have a lovely holiday.
welcome MrABC and your DW. I meant to say it earlier but I forgot, sorry.
sultanajo poor you, are you feeling any better now?

Big developments chez mouse, toddlermouse has finally ended his 7 month protest on cows milk and has started eating cereal with milk. He point blank refused to touch the stuff after I weaned him off the boob at 14mo.
Great news for me as the smell of his morning beans on toast made me feel ill. Plus I had run out of ways of getting milk into him on the sly.

TobyLerone · 02/07/2013 19:53

The woman I spoke to (formerly known as Bitchface) is probably the same one your DW is in contact with, MrA. She told me at least Thursday when I spoke to her earlier. They do have some sort of booking system in place, but it's not the proper one.
And it's nice to have a dad around :) You'll note that by virtue of the fact that we are on thread 6 already, we're all 'going on about stuff' all the time :o

Frog, I will be so jealous if you have a homebirth! I really wanted one this time. The MW said I would be the ideal candidate 2 normal, straightforward births behind me (one of which was without pain relief), and low risk in general. Except for these bastard-- fibroids, which have automatically made me higher risk. Nobody will touch me for a homebirth :(

They'll monitor me closely and if things settle down enough, they'll let me go to the MLU (all other things remaining low risk), but not at home.

enormouse · 02/07/2013 19:53

frog those developments sound promising. At least you know how they've cocked up.

BookTart · 02/07/2013 19:56

Right, lowering the tone slightly again (sorry!) A GP form my surgery has diagnosed what I had feared was leaking amniotic fluid as BV over the phone, and I now have a prescription for antibiotic gel, to be used internally. The antibiotic is possibly contraindicated in the first trimester from what I can see online, but as of today I am 13 weeks.

Would you just go for it? BV is potentially serious, and can cause miscarriage and early labour if left untreated. Am I being overcautious? I'd assumed this sort of diagnosis would require swabs to be taken etc.

TobyLerone · 02/07/2013 19:58

Seems very odd that he should be able to diagnose that over the 'phone. I'm certain you need swabs for that Confused
Call your MW?

extracrunchy · 02/07/2013 20:00

Welcome MrA!
I didn't get a scan date till I was over 12 weeks. Rang repeatedly and was told scan can be any time up to 14 weeks, and they only send letters out the week before. Pointed out DH and I would need to sort time off with work and MW basically implied our priorities needed to change...

Humpty lovely news on the scan!

Toby - what a relief you're booked for tomorrow. Exciting!l

Frogcatcher · 02/07/2013 20:03

Welcome mr abc I apologise in advance for any OH bashing we may do!

It's my first but as I'm fit & healthy so far, not overweight or with any dodgy family history I don't see why I can't be considered for a HB.

book am I being really thick but what is bv?

Toothfairy78 · 02/07/2013 20:05

vatta, bebsy sorry to hear of your loss. I hope you are as well as you can be and that new extra sticky beans come your way.

FX for you tarka

toby & frog glad to hear some progress was made today. I am disappointed we didn't get to hormonal flash mob them though as I've been doing good line in hormonal rage and scorn of late.

sultana have a fab time on holiday!

And welcome & congrats to MrABC!

Sultanajo · 02/07/2013 20:07

enormouse yeah managed to keep apple crumble down so far so feeling better than I was!

How amazing toddlermouse has finally given in to the milky cereal! What a relief for you! Grin

book diagnosing over the phone sounds a little presumptuous to me - how can he know for sure without examining you? I too would be tempted to get a second opinion from another gp or mw.....

carrotcakecupcake · 02/07/2013 20:10

Just checking in, though still trying to catch up on all the chatter! Am 12 wks today Smile and now trying to stay calm about scan on Monday.

Naturegirl82 · 02/07/2013 20:16

What time is your scan on Monday carrot? Mines at 4.15. Excited and nervous!

BookTart · 02/07/2013 20:16

Sorry frog, BV is bacterial vaginosis

Yeah, I'm feeling a bit odd about not having been examined at all, although I'm not sure what else it could be really. I did text my midwife yesterday morning but she hasn't replied. Maybe she's on holiday or something. I could call the other midwives and see what they say tomorrow maybe? I don't want to be a pain in the arse, but it all seems a bit weird.

12 weeks carrot - exciting! Fingers crossed for Monday :)

TobyLerone · 02/07/2013 20:18

I don't think it would do any harm to check, Book. I'm not given to being overly cautious (she says, having eaten ALL the soft cheese and some paté in the last couple of months, as well as licking the bowl every time a cake is made, and eating soft-poached eggs!), but I'd definitely check that with a MW or another GP.

Frogcatcher · 02/07/2013 20:42

Ok thanks book. I think I would get an appointment for a physical exam & swab. I had a potential UTI on my booking in sample but they were happy to wait for culture results before prescribing anything (& in fact it was a false alarm) so the risk can't be of instant miscarriage with these things. TMI but I have loads of discharge all the time at the moment.

BuntCadger · 02/07/2013 20:51

I'm still here but lurking, I'm shattered most evenings as my little monkeys keep me busy, goodness knows when ill have time to pee when this one arrives! I think I'm 12 weeks now? Awful at keeping track, edd 14/1

Another scan on Thursday and I can't wait, I think my bump is popped out now as trousers were a little snug and I can't suck it in! And when I lay on back a little bump there. I'm going to announce my preg on fb all being well with scan on Thursday. I know it's cheesy but I keep in contact with a lot of friends that way.

Frizz1986 · 02/07/2013 20:59

So the facebook announcement has gone live! I know its lame but so many people who i dont see and i am way toolazy to be texting everyone (as i lie on the sofa under my duvet in pjs!)

Getting more crampy stretchy pains tonight which is always unnerving. Do you ever think i wont knicker check when i pee??

Welcome mrabc and congrats. Will be great to hear what all the dps are really thinking when we moan about how sick we feel Smile

Frizz1986 · 02/07/2013 21:03

Is it bad that i cant get enough of salt and vinegar square crisps? Have eaten 3 packs already today!

MrsGSR · 02/07/2013 21:04

Welcome MrABC! I hope you get a scan date soon!

Pidgy My sister is really tough, very fit and healthy. She had her operation a week before my wedding and was still in pain when I got back from honeymoon so it was definitely quite a few weeks later.

Toby I'm glad you got a date, good luck for tomorrow! Frog keeping fx that you get a date soon too!

Congratulations Humpty on your scan!

Book I would get a second opinion, I had BV when I had a cyst (apparently it's quite common with hormonal imbalances) and I had a swab to confirm it.

Sultana Glad you managed to keep the apple crumble down :) I've just had a lovely tea of plain baby new potatoes. Opened the fridge to find something to go with them and almost threw up.

Sultanajo · 02/07/2013 21:18

mrsgsr I can sooo identify! So awful - at the mo it seems to happen when I am least expecting it! I think I am ok and then suddenly with almost no warning it hits me! Bit worried I may vom on someone at this rate! Blush Your post made me giggle as I can just imagine....

Lets not talk about brushing your teeth - cant remember the last time I successfully brushed my back teeth! Bit worried they may fall out at this rate! Grin

BuffyFairy · 02/07/2013 21:25

Thought it was about time I changed from my Xmas name Blush

So had my scan and little bean is looking good Grin Sonographer managed to get the measurements before bean started jigging about. Nuchal fold is 0.8mm and with blood tests I'm low risk. New EDD is 17th Jan so I'll add myself to the stats thread now. We got a few nice photos and a DVD. It all seems much more real now. I couldn't let myself fully believe it until the scan!

Frog I don't think your mad. 2 of my friends had home births and rave about it. I'm too chicken though. The MLU at my hospital is fab so will be happy if I get in there.

Yay Toby Smile good luck for your scan tomorrow.

Great news on your scan Humpty.

Yay for toddlermouse.

HumptyDumptyBumpty · 02/07/2013 21:29

Thanks all - I am still grinning like a loon!

sultana yes, we're off to France! Carcassonne and somewhere in the Languedoc.

toby we are spending 3 days of hols with my FIL, so don't be too Envy

frog grrrrrrrrr Angry. You are not mad on the home birth front either - I would for #2 and after, just not for #1. I also want to try hypno.

book I would push for an examination too. Not worth the risk. Make sure they know it's urgent!

buffy HIGH FIVE for ace scans! It's so much fun, isn't it? So happy for you, hurray!

MrsAVB · 02/07/2013 21:52

Hello!
Welcome and congrats mra! Makes me think of alphabetty spaghetti...
humpty and buffy yay for lovely scans! humpty your picture is very cute Smile.
Re. Home births... I am still seriously considering it and spoke to midwife at booking in, they are happy with my risk levels etc. But am not 100% sure am brave enough or that DH would be helpful enough!
asos have a 70% off sale at the mo including 10 pages of maternity... Have treated myself to my first maternity buys Smile
My boss is doing my head in. Despite having known for 4 weeks she hasn't "found" written the maternity policy, has told me there isn't one and just to expect statutory minimum. Which was what I was expecting, but there's more to a maternity policy than that! I need to know about what I can do with my annual leave for example. Both her and our CE have asked me several times when I'm thinking of going, how long I'm thinking of taking, have asked me to start handover notes, think about who could cover me, plan my projected project budgets to allow for cover, complete my work plan far in advance of everyone else Angry. And then the CE told me "ooh I'm sure I've seen the maternity policy somewhere" and "hmm businesses like ours always have far more generous than statutory leave/ pay". I can't plan anything until I know what I'm going to get (and some other stuff) as that will influence how long I take, when I go etc. aaaaah! Sorry for ranting everyone...

chocoloulou33 · 02/07/2013 22:08

Wow you lot have been chatty 2day!
humpty congrats on scan yeyyy glad all went well for you!
toby thank god you got scan sorted. DON'T BE LATE lol. Look forward to seeing your update 2moro :)
MrA welcome! I also live in Kent. I had scan at Canterbury on Monday as its little closer than WHH & all the computers were down there too. I had dd at Whh & was a v good experience & that was 6 years ago. Will be having this one there too :) x

enormouse · 02/07/2013 22:12

Just had to share my intense joy that the Christian rock festival is OVER! Grin.
Got into bed expecting the thumping bass and hordes of teenagers marching past my house till the wee hours and nothing.
Just silence?and the sound of my DS singing to himself in his bedroom. Normality is restored.
