Lie = Your glowing vs Truth = Your sweating, freezing, puking and an emotional basket!

Lie = After the first trimester your ms will disappear vs The truth = It will be there in the second trimester and the third..... and probably after you give birth! Get used to it!

Lie = You don't look even look pregnant vs The truth = whatever, you look pregnant from space!

Lets see what we learn from the second trimester! Grin Wink

Vatta and besby I just want to add my heartfelt best wishes, I'm so sorry to hear about your losses and I hope you each have some loving support from people around you in real life x

(have reported my first post as the typos on my phone accidentally changed the time of my first attempt to write this....)

flowersfortea · 01/07/2013 23:25

Tone... Must ditch this phone for a new shiny one

LittlePeaPod · 02/07/2013 06:12

And here I thought I would be able to keep up with the thread whilst on my jollies!

Humpty glad you sister is going. It must be hard to see your mother in pain. You clearly love your mum and you can be there after the day. I really wish you and your mum well. Good luck for your scan today. Smile

Toby I am beyond angry with your situation. I am floored at the utter incompetence and lack of care/thought you are getting regarding the scan. God only knows how you have been able to keep control and not want to throttle the silly bitch (excuse my language). I really hope it gets sorted tomorrow.

Fizz & Book great news on the scans.

Chocco arrrrrrgggghhhhhh...... That's so amazing. I am so chuffed to hear how well your scan went and you found out the sex. Congratulations on your little boy. Wow wow wow, I am so jealous.... Grin

Enormous you can join me on holiday as long a you don't snore.... I am sure my DF is getting worse... Last night he sounded like a stalling jet engine! Great news on your booking in appointment.

Frog that's awful they haven't sorted your scan out. I am shocked at the difference in service in each hospital trust. Some just sound down right incompetent! I hope it gets sorted soon..

MrsVDB its shit feeling so il! I too cried last night because I have done a bit better with eating on holiday and it all went wrong last night so I had a proper sobbing fit. DF didn't know what to do and asked if he was doing alright for me in terms of support whilst pregnant. Bless him! He felt really bad because I was so upset and he couldn't do anything about it. I thought at 13+5 I would have got over the sickness by now! Sad

Pidgey & Tarka sorry you are going through the worrying. Flowers

As for me, well today I will mostly be sitting on my ever expanding penguin butt!!

[question to all the ladies] - have you read/heard that apparently when you get to about 14 weeks you should start trying to sleep on your left side? Apparently sleeping on your left side benefits the baby by improving blood flow (nutrients) to the placenta and helps remove waste products/fluids from your body.

TobyLerone · 02/07/2013 06:43

Aw, pod, sorry you were feeling crappy last night. I hope today is better for you. Your DP sounds lovely :)

Re the scan -- the way I see it is that there's no point in getting worked up about it. It was my own fault and it can't be helped that their computer system is buggered at the moment. It's just bad timing and one of those things

Sultanajo · 02/07/2013 07:14

Good luck today humpty!

Good luck for scangate toby! Bitchface had better watch out!!!Grin

pod its just soul destroying when you take a step back! Bless your DF - how cute!!! Really hope its a blip on the road to recovery - I have certainly had them.....

Yy heard about the sleeping on the left. Desperately trying but have to spend some time on my right too because otherwise I wouldnt sleep!

BookTart · 02/07/2013 08:03

Good luck today humpty.

I'll be tuning in this afternoon to see if toby has actually killed the evil receptionist Grin

TobyLerone · 02/07/2013 08:07

:o

extracrunchy · 02/07/2013 08:24

I'm trying sleeping on left side but might have to switch places with DH cos can't sleep facing him when he's snoring his face off...

Struggling to sleep generally actually - couldn't get to sleep till after 1 last night, even though knackered, then woke at 3 starving, 5 and DS was up at 6. Bah.

Good luck today Humpty and Toby!

Tarka well done staying so calm. Keep up the rest!

MrsAVB · 02/07/2013 08:36

Good luck today humpty with your scan- will be thinking of you.
And good luck to toby. I would love to play a funny (not nasty) prank call if you don't get any joy... Maybe something like saying I had been abducted by aliens and NEEDED a scan for my alien baby.
extra I have the same issue as you with sleeping on my left side... DH doesn't seem to see a problem in his breathing in my face though and doesn't want to swap sides... Plus the way our room is configured will mean that I'll need to be on the right side when baby is born and in with us, so I don't think I'm going to bother changing.
Have a good day everyone x

Frogcatcher · 02/07/2013 08:55

Yep I'm in the same boat - left side means DPs face! Sometimes it's ok if he's on his back so I've got my head on his chest. Maybe when we move house we can change configuration.

Whoever was looking for small sized maternity trousers should try H&M. I tried on some of their twill jeans in a size 10 yesterday & they were very snug on my thighs & I'm normally an 8-10. Their sizing states that months 1-3 buy normal size, 4-6 go up one size & 6+ go up two sizes. The normal shop had loads of cheap tops & loose jersey tunic dresses & elasticated waist skirts though that would do over the summer anyway.

Frogcatcher · 02/07/2013 08:57

Also imagine that top shop maternity is probably quite small sized. You can only buy it in the Oxford st shop but I'm guessing it must be online.

farmersdaughter · 02/07/2013 09:01

Morning all....

Promise I will try and do better and keep up.

Good luck to all those having scans today's. so exciting. Along 13 days left till we get to hopefully see our little wriggler!

Is anyone else having horrid headaces? Spent the last 2 days with a headache. It's been hellish.

TobyLerone · 02/07/2013 09:09

It's not only in Oxford St Topshop that they sell the maternity range. They might not do it in all stores, but they definitely do it in other branches. I know the Canterbury one has maternity stuff in.

Yes, farmers. I'm having awful headaches, every day. I've been putting it down to hayfever, but who knows?!

Frogcatcher · 02/07/2013 09:16

Oh thanks toby duff info from top shop near me then!

Frogcatcher · 02/07/2013 09:17

No headaches recently but awful trapped wind / constipation. Tmi I know!!

enormouse · 02/07/2013 09:18

Hey farmers no headaches. But terrible insomnia. My DP insists on cuddling and its like being held by a radiator.
Good luck today humpty
frog have you tried asos maternity?
toby you are way more Zen like than I would be about this. I applaud you.

The Christian rock teenagers are still here Angry, still haven't slept Angry, still pissed off Angry.

Frogcatcher · 02/07/2013 09:51

Right well I think I channelled too many hormones when my phone calls went like this:
1 call to midwife - get vm
2 call midwife supervisor number which is on her vm for urgent matters but turns out to be a pager message service so no idea what I'm supposed to do with that
3 call the maternity centre place (not quite sure what they do but they had my test results before) - no one answers
4 call scan dept at hospital direct - get message that no one able to take call
Burst into tears.

TobyLerone · 02/07/2013 09:53

Oh, frog :( It seems that scans are destined to make us cry.

fryingpantoface · 02/07/2013 09:54

I'm so sorry for the losses.

I've been there in both instances and I know how much it hurts. Please remember that it's ok to grieve for the life you would have had.

Xx

Naturegirl82 · 02/07/2013 10:22

Good luck frog and toby with trying to get your scans sorted. Good luck to anyone with scans or apps today.

I'm feeling really unsettled today. Have my 12 week scan on Monday but just worrying we are going to be told the worst. I was managing to put the worry to one side but hearing of peoples losses yesterday has brought it all up again. I realise there isn't anything I can do about it and will just have to wait and see. I've tried consoling myself with the stats after seeing a heartbeat at 9 weeks but even that doesn't seem to be working Sad . Sorry for being whiney when others of you are really having a hard time. I just think I need a good slap!

Frogcatcher · 02/07/2013 10:22

Well I finally get hold of scan dept at hospital & they have no record of me at all. Incompetent overworked midwife has obviously not booked me in at all. I'm wondering whether to switch hospitals anyway so off to research them both in case I'm not too late to change.

By the way what does everyone know about hair dye & fake tan in pregnancy? My friend says no but I'm sure Nhs said it was fine. My hairdresser said highlights fine too.

LittlePeaPod · 02/07/2013 10:37

Oh Frog what a nightmare regards scans. With regards hair dye my hairdresser refused to use it till after 12 weeks. Apparently hornets can affect how your hair reacts in the first 12 weeks. Apparently danger to baby is limited though.

OP posts:
TobyLerone · 02/07/2013 10:38

FFS, Frog Angry You're 12 weeks now? What will you do?

Were I given to fake tanning or hair dye I would still do it.
