Lie = Your glowing vs Truth = Your sweating, freezing, puking and an emotional basket!

Lie = After the first trimester your ms will disappear vs The truth = It will be there in the second trimester and the third..... and probably after you give birth! Get used to it!

Lie = You don't look even look pregnant vs The truth = whatever, you look pregnant from space!

Lets see what we learn from the second trimester! Grin Wink

Thanks pod - there's loads of ladies on here who've had much worse results and all has been fine, so I do think I'm being a bit daft. Plus it means that there is a 219 -1 chance that it's not DS.

I don't actually have an allocated MW - it's a community thing here, but I'll definitely talk to whoever I see at my 16 week appt.
Xxx

LittlePeaPod · 13/07/2013 08:11

Exactly... There are others with less than 1 in 220 and the babies are fine.. But I still understand the worry. I have stopped Dr Google now because it was starting to send me potty. I think you will feel so much better once you speak to a MW and hopefully there may be some ladies on here that can share experiences. Smile

sarahj hilarious and so true! The heat really wasnt helping,my perspective!

pod "cinderella sultanajo" cracked me up! Grin

BookTart · 13/07/2013 08:25

It is totally understandable to worry Mac. If it helps give some perspective, my risk will already by 1 in 200 because I am old (37), so your result sounds fine to me. My MW said that anything better than 1 in 150 was good. I know that won't stop you worrying though :)

Oh, and just in case anyone is interested, the Next sale started at 8 and has maternity things in it...

Sultanajo · 13/07/2013 08:26

humpty that sounds horrible! Why cant we have nice dreams??? Mine last night was one of those frustrating dreams where u almost get somewhere only to find that around the corner is another obstacle!!!

mac when is your 16 week mw appointment? Dont forget there is the Tommys Preggers Line monday to friday and all the mw on there seem lovely! Completely understand your worry - its a really confusing time! Sending you a virtual hand to hold while you step away from google and talk to a professional....Wink

farmersdaughter · 13/07/2013 08:33

Morning guys,

I have decided to leave MN. I am wasting spending to much time on here, have found myself reading threads and not playing with DD.

I wish everyone as the very best for January and hope you all have happy smooth pregnancies.

Love Farmer x

HumptyDumptyBumpty · 13/07/2013 08:50

Mac look at it this way (hope this helps): your risk of miscarriage is about 1 in 5 up to 12 weeks (very roughly).
You are one of the 4 in 5 who was okay - you've survived much worse odds than 1 in 220. I do get that it seems not as good as you'd like, but if they say low risk, they must mean it; the NHS is PARANOID about getting sued! Hence places not telling you the gender at 20 weeks (increasingly, apparently). HTH.

farmers sorry to lose you, but fully understand your reasons, and we'll miss you! Have a wonderful pregnancy!

book are any of the mat things actually available though? Last time I tried to order from next it was a 4-6 week (WEEK!) wait for delivery. Pointless!

Mac2014 · 13/07/2013 08:56

Thanks ladies, think I've just woken up completely emotional... Just cried as I couldn't change the duvet Blush

Hope all are ready for the hottest day of the year. Eeek, need a bath of ice already. Xxx

BookTart · 13/07/2013 09:00

humpty, yep, just had to reign myself in a bit and got some jeans, two dresses and a skirt, all in stock. Luckily I found some left-over christmas vouchers in my purse!

mac, I'm sure your midwife will give you some good advice, but I second sultanajos recommedation of the Tommy's line if you are anxious.

Sultanajo · 13/07/2013 09:34

farmers we will miss u but totally understand. Good luck with everything - have a fab pregnancy! Grin

MrsVDB · 13/07/2013 10:09

12 weeks today woooo!!!

BabyshamBambi456 · 13/07/2013 10:16

mac hope you're doing okay. I can totally relate to the google thing, I seem to spend a lot of my time on it finding new things to worry about. Do you have a number for your midwife team in your mat notes? Or for the screening midwife at the hospital you were scanned at? As has been said anything below 1 in 150 is not seen as high risk but I know that's maybe not helpful right now.
sarahjayne I'm in Leeds so not too far from lancs, hope you're a bit less fed up today.
Have a good weekend everyone, I'm back home in Scotland where it's loads cooler

Mac2014 · 13/07/2013 10:24

I've calmed down a bit now. Will be ringing Tommy's later on to talk to them.

Thanks for all of your advice ladies. I really am a complete control freak, so anything outside of expectations... Not sure where they came from... Is freaking me out.

Hugs to all xx

TarkaTheOtter · 13/07/2013 10:54

mac I had a risk of 1/160 with dd at 29yrs old. It was all I thought about for a while but I don't think I really thought about it once the 20 week scan was over. It just feels higher than it is because other people get risks in the 0000's.
1/220 is a 0.45% risk. It's nothing. Without being too depressing I would imagine the background risk of lots of other disorders is probably higher.

Apparentlychilled · 13/07/2013 11:03

Babysham and sarahjayne- I'm outside Leeds too, so not far away. 12 weeks yesterday, scan next Thursday. Am now officially massive.

MrsGSR · 13/07/2013 13:59

I've been really bad at keeping up with this thread this week! I wrote a post a few days ago but my computer crashed so I don't think it's here (apologies if I repeat myself!)

blue glad to hear your scan went well and your being looked after :)

Congrats on your scans :) rosa, percy, Mythree, MrABC and anyone I've missed!

Talking of swimming costumes, has anyone found one that is supportive for growing boobs?

Sorry to hear of all the bad reactions from families! They should all be so excited!

Flowers to extra, I hope you enjoy your holiday!

So exciting that people are feeling movement! Nothing here yet, but only 13 weeks today and it's my first so not expecting anything for a while.

I'm a bit annoyed at the moment with DHs work. He was supposed to go away last week but now has to go next week so will miss the scan (no one within 100 miles of our house knows I'm pregnant so if anything has gone wrong I'll be on my own) he's also had to take the car as they wont sort out transport, so I'm completely stranded! He was supposed to be coming down to Devon this weekend to pick me up, but they've now said he's on duty so can't. Luckily he's managed to find cover for tomorrow so he can come and get me (the nearest train station to my dads house is 30+ miles away) but I'm a bit annoyed as I was hoping he would be able to calm me down this weekend! I'm terrified for the scan on Monday!

Mac2014 · 13/07/2013 15:11

tarka thanks for the reassurance!

Hope you're all managing in the heat! Xx

LittlePeaPod · 13/07/2013 15:36

Good afternoon ladies,

Mac hope you are feeling a little better

MrsG sorry to hear about your DH having to work.

Well, DF and I went out to get our first Chickpea coming home outfit!! Never happened instead we bought a pram, car seat/car bases, cot and some nursery furniture.... One things for sure babies are not cheap but feel a bit better for starting to do a bit.....

Is anyone else suffering in this heat? I normally love hot weather but struggling at the moment...

OP posts:
Sultanajo · 13/07/2013 16:08

mrsv happy 12 weekaversary!!! Grin

mrsg ffs that is utter shite! We will all be there virtually with you at your scan! Deep breaths....Grin

pod thats so unbelievably exciting!!! My mate is lending us quite a bit of stuff, but I cant wait to go pram and cot shopping, although I have to say there are soooo many its impossible to choose! Which pram did u get?

Sultanajo · 13/07/2013 16:11

Yy to not handling the heat. I dont handle it the best of times, but coming out of Tesco with our mammoth amount of shopping I felt like a walking zombie and couldnt raise a smile! Feeling better now am home, have unpacked and had some lush baguette and ice cold squash!!! Blush

LittlePeaPod · 13/07/2013 16:14

Sultanajo its so expensive. Unfortunately the only person we could have borrowed stuff off is SIL but she has her second in Oct. so we ave to buy everything. Gulp! But it was so exciting though... The cot is so adorable and snugly looking. Even I could see myself sleeping in it... Lol Wink

OP posts:
Sultanajo · 13/07/2013 16:27

Lol! They do look really cosy dont they! Part of me wants to buy everything rather than borrow because its part of the experience first time round and I want it all shiney and new for bubs, but I am very grateful that financially we can borrow a few things, which will hopefully mean we can buy more cute stuff!!! Grin Grin Grin

HumptyDumptyBumpty · 13/07/2013 17:11

MrsG oh lovey, that's horrid, stupid bloody work people. We'll be here for you, virtual handholding all the way.

Pod blimey you're organised. I thought I'd done well to get my 16 wk appt booked, let alone buying stuff!

sultana I am melting. I just hoovered and now I need another shower. I normally adore the heat, but I am just sticky and uncomfortable. Ice cold foot bath for me.

Sultanajo · 13/07/2013 17:19

Yy humpty - its a grumpy irritated sultana in the heat! Confused

Toothfairy78 · 13/07/2013 17:47

Gah! Sounds like everyone's hot n bothered today. Me too! Am sat knitting n surfing in front of fan with bowl of water in front. Apparently the Ancient Egyptians did this...except they had slaves and not a cheapo electric fan from Tesco. Hanging out the laundry earlier was too much in this heat.

DH is off to Yorkshire for friends birthday so really glad I missed the trek across London and hot sticky train ride!

Instead I went to Uxbridge shopping and picked up more clothes, Commando Dad book for DH and brightly coloured baby yarn. Scrabbled round hound house but have no idea where all my baby baby knitting patterns went. Had brief look at baby outfits but decided we should buy baby's first things together.

Am very impressed at how organised pod is! I haven't even written a list yet!

humpty my very organised mw booked by 16 wk at my 1st appt with her.

If this heat gets any worse I'm gonna dowse myself in magi-cool spray and run into the street yowling!
