Lie = Your glowing vs Truth = Your sweating, freezing, puking and an emotional basket!

Lie = After the first trimester your ms will disappear vs The truth = It will be there in the second trimester and the third..... and probably after you give birth! Get used to it!

Lie = You don't look even look pregnant vs The truth = whatever, you look pregnant from space!

Lets see what we learn from the second trimester! Grin Wink

I'm sure I can feel the wee one moving about and have been doing for a couple of weeks. There lots of movement of the scan, the ultrasonographer said it looked like baby had hiccups!

Juts been going back through the old posts and saw that quite a few people live close to eachother in south east, anyone from Yorkshire??

TobyLerone · 12/07/2013 14:01

Mine had hiccups at the scan too, although I couldn't feel them. That was weird -- to see it moving so much and not be able to feel it.

HumptyDumptyBumpty · 12/07/2013 14:18

carrot was a 'skater' dress? A bit like this but longer. It was immense. I could quite honestly have had DH in there and had space for a bump or three as well!

Sarah and keski sorry you're fed up, have a hug.

So, told boss (Boss of Doom), who reacted very nicely, gave me a hug, then realised what it meant (mat leave) and got a bit pale, started repeating himself. I think it went well overall, and I feel virtuous that I gave him more notice than I had to (I'm 15 weeks today, so he has 10 weeks more than the law says I have to give him!)

MrsAVB · 12/07/2013 15:25

Congrats on a lovely scan mr and mrs abc!
toby I got my email from casabu today too.
humpty am glad it went mainly ok with boss of doom. Work are still pissing me off as have asked me to hold off telling clients/ stakeholders. It's not that I want to tell them at all, but a) I'm making plans with them that cover longer term than I'll be around and b) I'm starting to show! And still no mat policy. Bahhhh....!
Still... It's nearly hometime...
X

SarahJayne321 · 12/07/2013 16:03

Babysham which bit of Yorkshire? I'm from lancs so close ish depending on area?

Aww thanks humpty, have one back xo glad your boss took it well!

Stretch mark cream!!!! I haven't been using it but just got some and plan to start, does it even work? Not really got a bump yet, just a little one, but surely prevention is better than cure?

carrotcakecupcake · 12/07/2013 16:38

Humpty yes, it's a charcoal gray though, and it is ma-hoo-sive on Smile
SarahJayne from what I've read stretch marks are genetic and there's not a lot that can be done about them, cream just seems to help with the itching and dry skin. I know I am slathering creams on at the moment as my skin keeps drying out and getting really itchy (mainly my thighs for some reason Hmm).

I am of course basing this on no first hand experience, but do trust a lot of the information from a fab book I read called Bumpology (a collection of articles written in the New Scientist debunking a lot of things about pregnancy using evidence based research).

HumptyDumptyBumpty · 12/07/2013 16:53

carrot yeah, it's not that exact one (navy blue), but it's the largest item of clothing I've ever tried on.

SarahJ agree on the stretch mark cream - it's genetic, but cream can't hurt, eh? And nice to put on (esp direct from fridge in this hot weather).

MrsAVB they are okay for now - but you wait until I start asking for things like a risk assessment. They haven't the first clue! It will be like Fred Karno's... Sorry your lot are still being bastards, still, as you say - roll on the weekend.

LittlePeaPod · 12/07/2013 17:00

Humpty thank you. I am 16 weeks next Thursday so FX... Ohh reading your sink episode has just set my gagging off.. That must have been awful..

Baby congratulations on your scan and NT results. Chickpea had hicups too. Consultant said thats how tye babies first start practicing how to breath (they inhale and swallow the amniotic fluid). I though that was so sweet... Grin. Also there are quite a few of us on here from Yorkshire too.

Sarah thank you. It's a real pain in the rear but the worst thing is the smell, the smell is awful.... Even after drying the rooms out with the dryers.. Why you fed up? Sad. Stretch marks - one of my fears.... Sad. Apparently nothing we can do to stop them. The damage is in the dermis (middle skin) and oils/creams don't reach that far. But I have been lathering myself in stretch mark oils and creams for about 8 weeks now.. I slather about very morning and night like I have just been dipped in cooking fat.... Grin

Pop. Spoke to consultant about whether the position of the placenta makes any difference when giving birth and he said not at all. Only difference is it takes little longer for you to start feeling ,movement. So we don't need to worry... I normally live the heat but I must admit its not helping my sickness at all.

MrA congratulations.. It's amazing.. Smile

Wow tons to catch up on. Great news on good NT results and good scans!

Hurray extra really hope the holiday is just what u guys need!,Grin

humpty vomming in the sink! That sucks!

Sorry u r feeling down today sarah. I am gonna join u! Had a great day, bought some maternity clothes from h & m, had my hair done, met a friend for lunch. Got back ready to try my clothes on to be sure I could wear them for this dinner and dance we are going to tonight and then reality hit! Sooo...I can either wear boiling hot mat jeans and black top, which looks better but I fear I may pass out in the heat or do I wear the pink flowery dress which is cooler, but makes me feel and look fat and frumpy at the moment??? Angry Fucks sake!

humpty u r a genius - leggins with the legs cut off!!! Just brilliant!!! Thank you!!! Grin

MrsAVB · 12/07/2013 17:48

sarah I'm using the palmers cocoa butter stretch mark cream, and keeping it in the fridge. No idea if it works mind. I think sanctuary preggo stuff is on offer in boots at the moment.
sultana I would go for the dress.. It's way too hot for jeans!
X

Sultanajo · 12/07/2013 18:24

mrsavb am going for the dress....here goes...x

SarahJayne321 · 12/07/2013 18:33

I thought it was genetic but it can't hurt, at least I've tried haha

Oh pea I can imagine, but to look on the bright side at least it's not happened just before you come back from giving birth! Touch wood! I don't know why I'm fed up just feeling very shitty today, and Christ knows where dp is, or where he's staying tonight, stresses me out!

Sultana I'd go for the dress! I bet you don't really look fat and frumpy, and if you do, I'd rather be frumpy than sweaty!

Mrsavb that's what I've got, and some tescos own which is meant to be good! Ill have to have a wander to boots tomorrow

Naturegirl82 · 12/07/2013 19:24

Just popping by quickly. Glad scans have gone well and hope those of you feeling rubbish feel better soon.

I've been struggling today. Hoping it's just hay fever and not the start of a cold. We have people coming round in 10 mins for dinner and the hall radiator just fell off the wall. No idea what to do about it. it's an old ons so really heavy so no chance of getting it back on. The joys of old houses. Sad

Toothfairy78 · 12/07/2013 19:36

Happy Friday folks!

Sounds very good on scans this past couple of days. Congrats!

extra I work not far from Twickenham so I'm counting you in the west London/Berkshire/Surrey crew. Sorry you're having a tough time. Having MH in the family sure is tough on everyone because you feel helpless. I hope both you have a good rest over the holiday.

Now I avoid dresses cos my thighs rub together too but, leggings with the legs cut off whatever happened to cycling shorts? Would've thought with all this 80's revivals shit going on in the shops, there'd be no need to cut up leggings??? Perhaps what we need are some nice airy knickerbockers? :D

Toothfairy78 · 12/07/2013 19:40

Ooh, back again. Just googled undershorts for women and look what I found!
www.thewellarmedwoman.com/apps/store/default.asp?view=profile&itemid=39249

Yup, ladies undershorts with built in gun holster.

SarahJayne321 · 12/07/2013 19:58

Tooth, those under crackers plus pregnancy rage would NOT be a wise idea! Shock

MrsVDB · 12/07/2013 22:39

So Amsterdam hen do is starting to suck! Back at the hostel in bed by 11 tonight when everybody else won't be back until at least 3. Feel like a party pooper but bored of watching people get drunk, breathing in smoke/ drugs, people banging into me and manky toilets that make me puke each time

Sultanajo · 12/07/2013 23:52

sarahj I went for the dress and actually got lots of compliments on my hair cut, so that made me feel better! Even braved it on the dance floor!! Grin Have thigh rub now but I would have melted in Jeans. What cracked me up was one of the husbands put his hand on my flab and bloat "bump"! Little did he know what he was actually feeling! Grin Grin

nature omg! Of all the things to happen ten mins before your guests arrive!

Oh mrsv I really feel for u. Actually sounds like my idea of hell non preggers too, so I can only imagine what you are going thru. I think u r brave going in the first place....hope it gets betterSad

Sultanajo · 12/07/2013 23:54

tooth omg! Those under shorts are amazeballs! Hilarious! Grin

SarahJayne321 · 13/07/2013 00:15

sultana so glad you enjoyed, I told you you weren't frumpy!!

One of my friends tried touching my 'bump' the other day. I responded 'baby is just above my fanjo bone, and I do not want you to touch there!!!'

HumptyDumptyBumpty · 13/07/2013 06:56

sultana yay for a good night out!

MrsVDB sorry you're having no fun - if it's any consolation, I HATED the hen do I went on about 3 weeks ago. It was vile. Being sober in a club is utterly awful - or maybe the club was just awful Grin.

Up at 6am this morning, thanks to some very vivid nightmares about being attacked by a maniac, who turned into my sister, and having to pour nail varnish remover into her eyes to escape. Thanks, pg hormones, that was a FUN dream Hmm.

LittlePeaPod · 13/07/2013 07:20

MrsV that sounds like one of my ideas of hell. Particularly the many toilets and breathing in smoke. Sad

Cinderalla Sultanajo had a fabulous night at the ball. Yeeeaaaaa. You crack me up with the bump touching, thigh rubbings update.. Grin

Nature what a bleeding nightmare. I sympathise. We bought an old house and working on it. They do come with unpleasant surprises.... Hope it didn't ruin your night..

Humpty your nightmare sounds awful.

Well I think my bump is definitely showing. I don't thinks its just wind and water retention anymore. It's my first pregnancy so may be wrong.. Anyone got any tips for water retention?

Ladies...

Think I'm being very hormonal, but just had a good old weep and wanted to see what you all thought...

Got our NT results back ... 1 in 220. The measurement was 1.6mm and I'm 35, so I'm thinking that the bloods must have shown something... It doesn't mention anything about the specific results in my letter, so not too sure.

I've googled (big mistake I know!) and most people's seems to be 1 in x0000 not x00, so I've now convinced myself that despite the hospital stating that I'm low risk it's actually not true!

I'm not going to go for any further tests, as I think I'd be a complete mess, plus DH thinks the whole thing is fine and we'll cope with whatever happens along the way.

Not really sure why I'm typing this, but needed to get it out.

Anyway, apologies for the pity post and glad to hear all you ladies are doing well!! Hugs to all.

LittlePeaPod · 13/07/2013 07:36

Mac its not a pity post at all. Remember the rule we are all here to help each other through the tears, tantrums and happy times. I completely understand why you are upset. But Dr. Google is not a good start as it will make things seem much much worse.. Sad. Can you speak to your MW about your concerns? 1 in 200 is low risk from whati have heard. Sending you lots of hugs.. Flowers
