Lie = Your glowing vs Truth = Your sweating, freezing, puking and an emotional basket!

Lie = After the first trimester your ms will disappear vs The truth = It will be there in the second trimester and the third..... and probably after you give birth! Get used to it!

Lie = You don't look even look pregnant vs The truth = whatever, you look pregnant from space!

Lets see what we learn from the second trimester! Grin Wink

Yeah pod! Was just thinking about you. Well that is a shitty way to end your holiday! Really sorry to hear that. Why do these things always happen when you are away! Are things getting sorted? Sad

MrsVDB · 10/07/2013 06:47

Ah sorry to hear that pod must be horrible

Good luck everyone with scans today, not got mine until Tuesday. Off on a hen do to Amsterdam tomorrow til Sunday. God knows how ill cope! Dreading it

Sultanajo · 10/07/2013 07:03

Oh blimey mrsv! Of all the places to go when you are preggers. I hope its better than you think its going to be....

Bluecarrot · 10/07/2013 08:58

Glad to see you back pod!

Good luck for all having scans today.

Unfortunately I'm bleeding again - quite a lot this time ( last time less than 48 hours ago) and heading to hospital again. DP on his way but will be 2 hours before he gets there :( I'm really rather scared now :(

bugsyburge · 10/07/2013 09:08

fingers crossed for you bluecarrot

enjoyingscience · 10/07/2013 10:39

Fingers crossed blue - hope everything's ok when you get to hosp.

Amsterdam has a lot of lovely museums, and you can eat a million pancakes, so you'll probably have a lovely time MrsVDB. Just try to blank out all the drunks Wink

Feeling mega fat today. I really don't look pregnant, just podgy :(

Must go shopping for clothes that fit at the weekend, that will hide it a bit until a proper bump (one made of baby) emerges. I can feel my uterus at the bottom of my tummy now, so it can't be too long until I go pop!

MrsGSR · 10/07/2013 10:46

Glad you're back pod, but sorry you had such a bad end to your holiday!

Thinking of you blue, fx it's nothing Flowers

Good luck to everyone with scans today :)

TobyLerone · 10/07/2013 10:51

Fx for you, blue.

Glad you're ok, pod. Sorry about your house issues :(

fryingpantoface · 10/07/2013 11:28

curlywurlyllass · 10/07/2013 13:03

Blue thinking of u

MrsV enjoy amsterdam!

Good luck to all those with scans

Has anyone else been bruised after their 12 week scan? Ive got 2 bruises from my pathetic scan :( i really feel the sonographer was rushing things and my layers of fat didnt help as there was a waiting room filled with ladies. When after a few minutes she couldn't get a clear picture so she just measured CRL, quickly showed us our wee one and sent me on my way! Reading that everyone else was scanned for a long time has confused me. I also assumed i was to see the consultant after the scan, but is that only after the measurements?
Ive to go back for bloods at 14 weeks and another scan at 16weeks to complete the CUBS test. Everything i read says the downs tests should b done by 14weeks. Has anyone got any advice for me?
Feeling disheartened by my 12week scan

Bluecarrot · 10/07/2013 14:54

Well, baby still active and placenta seems fine. They seem perplexed as to cause of bleeding!

Thankfully DP met me in town and went with me this time. I was honestly preparing myself for bad news as it was like a heavy heavy period though had gone brown-ish by the time I got to hospital 6 hours after it started. dr didn't seem too concerned. Hmm didn't need another anti-d as I had one 40 hours before. Any bleeds from tomorrow on, I need to go back. Going to call my midwife and see if anti d available more locally as getting to hospital is a pain.

Bedrest is a great excuse to lie around in the sun!

eccentrica · 10/07/2013 15:12

bluecarrot that's wonderful news, really glad to hear it Smile enjoy the sun!

curly My 12 week scan was very quick, if that makes you feel any better. I was in and out in about 10 minutes and most of that was him filling in my details on the form. It's the 20 week scan that takes ages, mine with my daughter was at least half an hour long.

I've also had some very uncomfortable (even painful) scans and the baby has never seemed to mind. My advice is drink far more water than you think you can stand, and keep drinking right up until you go in. You'll be beyond desperate for the loo but you will get a great picture!

Sultanajo · 10/07/2013 15:44

blue blimey your little one is putting you thru it! Glad its all ok - definitely a great excuse for chilling out!!! Grin

curly my nhs scan was also quick - it was the private scan I went for that they spent time really looking at everything. I probably have baby brain but whats a CUBs test?

eccentrica · 10/07/2013 16:26

In the interests of balance/full disclosure, I should add that the only really uncomfortable painful and worrying scan I've ever had was a private one! Have always found NHS sonographers to be the best Smile

Sultanajo · 10/07/2013 16:56

ecc I have had a mixed bag, but the only painful scan I had was a private one and when I said something I was told they wouldnt press so hard if they didnt need to and they would press even harder at the NT scan. The two NT scans I had after this one were both great - neither of them hurt of pressed hard, so I think it depends on the sonographer you have. I think I was unlucky with that one that I felt was trying to insert the probe into my womb via the abdomen! Grin

flowersfortea · 10/07/2013 17:12

Afternoon everyone,
Blue I'm glad the scan was ok, hope everything settles down.
Curly I'm sorry you feel down after yours - I haven't had mine yet (13+3 and counting...) but am really looking forward to it as a kind of milestone so I can only imagine it was quite disappointing to feel rushed.

Feeling sorry for myself today as, having forced my way through a weekend of night shifts with the help of cyclizine, this morning vomited whilst brushing teeth then on arrival at work (the superstitious sick bag in my work bag so far seems to have done the trick in not vomming on the train each morning). Felt guilty for going home again sick as I never take time off but am glad I did because I've now got heartburn and slept on the sofa for hours.... still sicky but tolerating fluids and even a small amount of food. So sorry for those still having hyperemesis as I feel crap and it's not as bad as many!

That said, enjoyed reading a 'what to buy' thread and dreaming of baby gro shopping after the scan!

enormouse · 10/07/2013 17:18

blue glad to hear things are ok. if you need anything in rl, pm me. I'm just down the road essentially.

curly are you planning on getting any private scans?

enjoying I felt crap yesterday as I had a slight flabby overhang over the top of my skirt. I wish I had a real bump instead of looking like I've been at the pies.

pod that's terrible, poor you. I'd be tempted to leave my oh to get on with it and clear off for a bit if I was you.

Enjoy your hen do MrsVDB

DP and DS have spent part of the day at his parents and have come back with loads of toys that used to be DPs/stuff my almost in laws are trying to get rid of. DP is now assembling a dust covered Thomas train set whilst DS looks on somewhat ambivalently. I've been bribed into filling my house with more crap with a large bag of minstrels. I'm just dreading what my poor little house will look like with two small kids toys and one big kids.

curlywurlyllass · 10/07/2013 17:53

Thanks eccentria, i will drink more next time, they said not to drink lots for this scan and i almost wee'd the bed lol

Sultana its the NT scan and bloods: combined ultrasound bloods s...., they call it cubs up here. It says it should b done by 14weeks in my notes.

Flowers i hope u get a date soon! And feel better too, im just starting my row of nightshifts, its gonna b too warm to open the windows with the midgies outside waiting to sneak in a crack and gnaw on my flesh/blood nooooo! Lol

enormous i concidered a private scan but ive another scan to b planned for 16weeks, i plan to confirm they can still get the nt measurements then when i go for bloods next week and grill them about it.
Hope the minstrels help you cope with the cherished toys, maybe they wont work and need binned fingers crossed he doesn't come back with more, my mum tried to palm me off with some of my manky dusty toys, they should have remained in the 80's

Feeling a little better bout scan length now, im not the only one with a quick scan! Still doesnt excuse the bruises but i will deffo say something next time or shout

Bluecarrot · 10/07/2013 18:20

Aw Enormouse that's v sweet of you. Thankfully I have a great support network within a mile radius- I'm extremely lucky! ATM DP and DD are fetching me cool drinks, ice lollies and summoning up their best cooking skills and making me..... Ham sandwiches for tea ;)

Naturegirl82 · 10/07/2013 18:25

just popping in to say hi

pod sorry to hear about your house. Never know why these things always happen while we are away. Hopefully the hot weather is helping to dry it out as well.

blue sorry you've been having problems but glad your little one seems fine.

Congrats to everyone that have had good scans.

Been doing the big reveal this week. All been going well apart from one cuntpuffin guy at work who didn't wait for me to announce it at our team meeting before sending me a congratulatory email to show he was in the know. I don't like him anyway so I'm probably being completely unreasonable about it! Smile Apart from that everyone is very excited for us.

rosalux · 10/07/2013 19:05

pod that really is rubbish news about your house. I thought burst pipes were supposed to happen in freezing weather not boiling temperatures! grrr

Had dating scan today at 12wks by my dates. Was super nervous before but relaxed immediately once sonographer said she could see baby and heartbeat etc. Bean2 is measuring big for dates, 12+6 apparently, so they have moved my EDD forward to 16 Jan 2014. Boo. Really wanted it to be as far from xmas as possible. Already feel bad that Bean2's birthday will be in the month when everyone is skint and detoxing/dieting (thinking ahead somewhat I grant). 20wk scan (actually 19wks by my dates) on 29th August, so just 7 weeks away with a midwife appt in between. Feeling somewhat able to relax and tell people now. Phew!

carrotcakecupcake · 10/07/2013 19:10

So I seem to have "popped" today, I'm blaming the hot for making everything swell and bloat! Startes telling people at work today but they'd all already guessed, at least now they don't just thing I've been eating too much cake (which I have...).
As q result of the bloat my swim suit was looking a tad indecent todqy. Can anyone recommend a good tankini that I can actually properly swim in, rather than something to wear sitting next to the pool?

Percypiglet · 10/07/2013 19:21

Hi all, Had our 12 wk scan today. Totally AMAZING as first time we've been pregnant and first scan!! Made me cry!

The baby was asleep so the sonographer had to press down really hard to wake it up a few times and then when it did wake up it kept wriggling and she couldn't get it to stay still to do the NT measurement but got it eventually. The cutest bit was seeing it kicking and also seeing the tiny soles of its feet! Bless. There is actually something in there! I am now dated at 12wks+ 4 so due date moved to 18th Jan.

Hope everyone else has been having a good day.

Sultanajo · 10/07/2013 19:32

nature thats great! Ignore the cuntpuffin! He aint worth it!

rosa & percy great scan news! Aw cute little soles of feet! Dont worry about it being in January - my due date is 27th Dec, so its bound to arrive on xmas or new year!!! Doh! Hmm

Sultanajo · 10/07/2013 19:33

carrot tankinis dont work for me at the best of times - I always find the top rides up when I start swimming! Will be going for a one piece when I outgrow my current cossie....
