Hi everyone, my scan yesterday went well and I am 8 weeks 5 days due on the 4th of February.

So sorry namechanging, I hope you can take it easy and be looked after for a while.

My sickness has died down now but my boobs are so painful though. I feel much more positive after my miscarriage at easter having had a successful scan xx

sunflowered · 01/07/2013 09:25

namechanging was really sorry to read your news. I hope you're doing ok.

Ladybee · 01/07/2013 09:32

I was v sorry to see your news namechangingnorma, you must be devastated. Be kind to yourself, huge hugs.

Somanychanges · 01/07/2013 10:18

I am going to have a nap. I feel bad as I have so much to do. But I had a really restless sleep as the nausea got worse and worse throughout the night.

I was actually relieved to start throwing up this morning. It was a momentary release from the awful sick feeling. I am so hungry, but I just can't stand the smell of any food of manage to eat much.

Definitely feeling sorry for myself.

Sprite21 · 01/07/2013 11:03

"almost vommed all over the kitchen" LOL, thanks for the laugh. I'm sure that must be a good sign.
Feeling sad about Norma's news, I can't believe it. Hope she is okay.
My booking in appointment is next week, finally. Does anyone remember whether they can hear the baby's heartbeat in that one? I would love some reassurance.

EeyoreIsh · 01/07/2013 11:29

Norma so sorry to hear your news. Best wishes for a swift recovery and the time to heal.

I've got my booking in appointment at 1 today, I'm quite nervous/excited. Had a teeny bit of blood last night and after my recent mc both DH and I are quite anxious, so we had a really restless night. I assume the midwife is used to dealing with stress bunnies like me!

SugarMiceInTheRain · 01/07/2013 11:32

misskatamari I might have to try taking them at night - it's just I'm more likely to forget them at night I reckon.

My stomach is rumbling, begging me for food but I am struggling to find something that won't make my stomach turn. Supposed to be going out for a meal tonight to celebrate the DS1 & 2's great reports. Urgh.

LovesToBake · 01/07/2013 12:05

Namechanging I was so sorry to read about your MC. Echoing what others have said, I hope you have plenty of support around you, I can't imagine how that must feel.

I'm still feeling incredibly nauseous and for the 6th day running, have woken up and had a really violent upset stomach. On the plus side I haven't been sick, so I wonder if my body is choosing to purge that way rather than by puking. Had a tricky journey to work feeling really ropey. Can't face food shopping and am very grateful that one change since my last pregnancy is that I now do my food shopping online. I'm sitting here at work (it's really quiet) trying to do an Ocado order for tomorrow and struggling to think of anything I could stomach. Any suggestions? Have so far gone for lots of crisps, some fizzy water and am about to add apples which I'm finding seem to work for me at the moment. Randomly the other day I bought a mild salsa Doritos dip and some Doritos and polished off the whole lot - hadn't expected it to go down quite so well! I also think a few ready meals will be needed as defintiely can't face cooking or food preparation.

Shropshiremummy2b · 01/07/2013 12:18

Oh Norma, what terrible terrible news. I imagine the last thing in the world you will be doing is checking on Mumsnet but just incase you do- know that we are all soooooo sad for you.

Laura0007 i'm loving 9 weeks! Have you got any form of a tummy? I have, but then I did before! Our uterus is the size of a grapefruit! It's mind blowing stuff, toooo exciting. When's your scan again? I got a bit excited and rang the hospital and told them I couldnt do the 24th and could I do it earlier (!) in the hope they'd say "Yeah, totes, come on over now", alas, theyve changed it to the 23rd!!!!!!!!!!!!!

sunflowered · 01/07/2013 12:41

shropshire I'm very jealous that you have your scan date already - I've got my booking appointment on july 15th when I'll be 8 + 5 so it's going to be even longer before I get to the scan! On the plus side the midwife I spoke to when I booked the appointment sounded really friendly and was very reassuring about my worries, I hope the rest of her team are as welcoming Smile

Eeyore do let us know about the booking in appointment. I vaguely recall last time with DD but would appreciate a reminder.
Good luck!

LovesToBake · 01/07/2013 13:16

Champagnebubble thanks for those suggestions - I've just finished my order and I was thinking the same, it looks like an unhealthy student, very different to the usual things I order. I went for:

Baked beans
Fizzy water
Macaroni cheese ready meal
Crisps - Mini Cheddars, McCoys, Doritos (NEVER usually order crisps!)
Ice lollies
Apples
Avocadoes
Sourdough bread (thinking I might manage avocado on toasted sourdough)

I am also totally off meat and was for the whole of my last pregnancy - so strange. You'd think your body would need the protein. Guess that's where the beans come in!

gnittinggnome · 01/07/2013 13:47

LovesToBake have you seen the orange juice with added calcium? It's a brand new staple in our house, along with lemons for lemon water which makes a break from just plain water and seems to settle my indigestion pretty well. Those plus all the soft fruit I can lay my paws on - thank gods for summer fruit!

Shropshire I think I have a bit of a tummy too - nearly 10 weeks - and trying hard to not eat junk as I'm on the overweight scale already (BMI 28) and exercise, but I need to buy new knickers and have put my "thin" jeans away and gone for the ones I bought by accident that are one size too big!

LovesToBake · 01/07/2013 14:00

Thanks for the tip gnittinggnoe, although after bad memories of bringing up my breakfast orange juice far too often with my last pregnancy, I'm steering clear of fruit juices for a while. A favourite at the moment is elderflower cordial with fizzy water and lots of ice. All my water has to be ice cold, I remember that from last time too.

I'm starting to feel a little flabby around the tummy area but I know it's just from all of the carbs I've been eating what with the baby being about the size of a lentil right now. Can't wait to get past 12 weeks, have the news out in the open and then start to grow a little bump!

Cherryoats · 01/07/2013 14:11

Looks like I am jumping off the february bus and hopefully onto a later one. I had a scan friday and blood results back this morning confirming mc. I feel ok about it, I had stopped feeling pregnant and I thought something was wrong so at least my thoughts are confirmed. I also have planned some fun adventurous things to do over the next few weeks, so I have that to look forward to :)

Good luck to you all, its been good reading this thread the last few weeks, sending non nauseous vibes and virtual boiled sweets to you all :)

sunflowered · 01/07/2013 14:25

Really sorry to hear that cherryoats. Sending you positive vibes back that you can catch another bus in the not too distant future.

EeyoreIsh · 01/07/2013 14:56

Sorry to hear that cherryoats, take care of yourself.

The booking in appointment was fine! I got asked lots of questions, like family and personal history. I had some bloods taken and wee tested. And they checked my carbon monoxide levels.

It felt a little surreal after so long ttc! I also really felt it was tempting fate, they were suggesting I book the 16 week appointment before my 12 week scan, giving me antenatal lesson leaflets, asking me where is like to give birth etc!

laura0007 · 01/07/2013 15:27

Sorry to hear your news cherryoats :-(

Shropshire...my tummy is definitely growing. My jeans feel tight today and even though I haven't put any weight only clothes are definitely getting tighter. My scan is the 11th (next Thursday eeek!) had to laugh at your earlier scan date of one day! It was worth a try Grin

laura0007 · 01/07/2013 15:36

Also I keep reading on all these baby websites (slightly obsessed)that your body should be covered in blue veins and your nipples should be getting bigger and darker. Well mine aren't. And I have no veins stamps feet my boobs are bigger though Grin

sunflowered · 01/07/2013 15:44

laura I don't have any veins either and only one of my nipples has changed colour. I look ridiculous Grin

EeyoreIsh · 01/07/2013 15:48

Oh yes, I was weighed at the booking in appointment. I had lost a little bit of weight, so there are some benefits to all bloody day morning sickness.

According to my DH, my waist has thickened Angry

Bearfrills · 01/07/2013 17:39

So sorry to hear your news cherryoats :(

My GP couldn't refer me for a scan. The local hospital won't do early scans now unless you're either flooding blood or have symptoms of an ectopic which is why the local hospital is generally considered to be a bit shit He said he could refer me as he likes to bypass their rules but they'd just refuse to scan me when I arrived for the appointment so would just be a waste of my time. Funding cuts have a lot to answer for Hmm

He said the sickness is a good sign, as is the dark patch on my neck (I can't remember it's proper name but it darkens whenever I'm pregnant) and all the other stuff. He wants me to put a water sample in as he likes to screen for infection (apparently this can cause spotting) and it's a case of waiting - I'll have my answer in a few weeks.
