Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

:( I know how you feel Champagne and it is horrible. Luckily my sickness is easing off but for weeks I couldn't do anything and it does really get to you. I think it's the fact that even when you feel a bit better you still feel shit and you know that you're gonna feel that way for a while longer makes it so hard to cope with.

I tried to explain to hubby that its not like when you're ill normally - you know in a few days you'll be okay again. With pregnancy you know that you're probably gonna feel like that for a while and it's just awful and relentless. Sorry that probably hasn't helped but just want you to know that it's perfectly understandable to have a cry and feel down about it, it's bloody hard!

I hope you can get some rest this weekend and just think 12 weeks is in sight! Big hugs x

Thingymajigs · 13/07/2013 11:37

I have my scan date through for 31st August. And another appointment mud August when I'll be 15 weeks which I assume is the extra diagnostic test for downs syndrome. Apparently its recommended for wome of my advanced age (32 nearly). But now I can't remember when I'm supposed to book the mw appoinment to get the results. Must be my age. Grin 16 weeks maybe?

misskatamari · 13/07/2013 11:48

Yeah I think 16 weeks Thingy.

gnittinggnome · 13/07/2013 11:57

Thingy you're getting additional tests for Down's because you're 32? Wow, here's me congratulating myself on not quite hitting 35 yet...
Will keep an eye out for that one then.... MW appointment is Monday, so I guess I'll find out then if I'm considered over the hill!

Thingymajigs · 13/07/2013 11:59

Thank you. Smile Everything is a lot more involved now. With ds2 I had one scan and only saw the midwife three times.
It's getting exciting now that the scan dates are getting closer.

misskatamari · 13/07/2013 12:01

Ugh I'm feeling really sick! Thought I was starting to feel better but it seems to have returned for a visit Hmm hopefully it's just a one off! I'm 10+1 today (or 10+5 according to the scan on Monday) so hopefully it's just a blip! Bleurgh!

Thingymajigs · 13/07/2013 12:01

gnitting, yes, she told me it was recommended because of my age. After looking it up though it seems like it should be offered to everyone anyway.

oops I meant my scan date is 31 July not August. Pretty hard to do a 12 week dating scan at 17 weeks.
Right I'll stop spamming the thread with drivel now. Have a great weekend everybody and hope the sickness calms down soon.

misskatamari · 13/07/2013 12:05

Awww good luck on your trip! I'm sure it will make you feel better to get out of the house for a bit. Take it slow and enjoy the sunshine x

misskatamari · 13/07/2013 12:06

Lol just blame pregnancy brain Thingy!

gnittinggnome · 13/07/2013 12:12

This article in the Guardian is quite interesting, a breakdown of statistics re mother's age, number of babies etc. Ignore the "wedlock" title!

Champagne hope you have a restful and calm day, and can enjoy the sunshine a bit!

littlestgirlguide · 13/07/2013 12:29

Got my letter through for my scan on 26th July, can't wait!
All being well I will finally be able to tell my Guides as we go off to summer camp later that day. I think some of the older ones might have guessed, but I dont want to tell them until I am positive everything is ok.

It sounds like many of the morning sickness sufferers are starting to feel a bit better now, which is great news. I've been pretty much symptom free the last ten days or so, just needing to eat very regularly, and getting tired easily. I did an hour gardening this morning and promptly fell asleep as soon as I sat down on the sofa, despite 4 year old DD!
DH has taken her to the park for a bit now, to let me sleep, but it's a shame he woke me up to tell me that's what he was doing!

Those of you with older children, when did you tell them you were expecting another baby? DD doesn't know yet, and I don't know whether to tell her after the scan or wait a bit longer.

littlestgirlguide · 13/07/2013 12:34

Oh and I'm 31, with previously very high downs risk in my last pregnancy and no extra appointment or test booked at 15 weeks so I don't know what that is for. They are doing the nuchal translucency test at the 12 week scan.

Thanks Champagne. One of my cats has just puked on the carpet (I'm imagining in sympathy!) so I'm trying to build myself up to dealing with that lol!

I'm 30 and were expecting our first and like you Champagne most friends of similar ages have either just had kids or are planning in starting in the next year or so.

misskatamari · 13/07/2013 12:56

Littlest - glad your scan app is through! Your guides will be so excited when you tell them I'm sure Grin

vix206 · 13/07/2013 13:37

I was 32 when I had DS and I'm 35 with this one. No extra testing or anything and I don't feel old!!

Sassy20 · 13/07/2013 16:16

I was 35 when I had dd and had no extra tests. I'm 37 now so prob one of the oldest but also have friends that are 40 that are planning their seconds so still feeling young! Grin

I WANT A SCAN DATE!!!!! Not fair!!!!!

Laura0007 where in Lincolnshire are you??? I live in Lincoln!!!

I didn't think they did extra testing till nearer 40. I'm feeling old now at 33!

jazzcat28 · 13/07/2013 19:03

Glad you had a nice afternoon out champagne

I have spent the hottest day of the year sleeping on the sofa with blinds down and fan on full! So tired!

Am going to be with family next weekend for my birthday and have decided it'll be too difficult to not drink so am going to share the news. I'll be almost 10wks by then so slightly early but won't get away with not drinking.

Very nervous (despite being 28, married, secure) - how have you broken the news to parents?
