Don't feel bad Eyeore - I felt really guilty when mine signed me off but I know that it's for the best as even tho I still feel rubbish a lot if the time I am getting better with rest and I am coping with it all a lot better now I'm not totally exhausted. You have to do what's best for your health and work will just have to understand Smile

Had my midwife appointment which was lovely. They filled in all the forms and gave me leaflets and seemed lovely! They classed me as low risk so were even mentioning a home birth - errrr don't think I'm quite confident enough about birth for that thanks very much. They said I can go and look round the midwife led unit at the hospital and I asked about hypnobirthing and they said its really good so I'm thinking if doing that (husband looked at me like I was loony when I mentioned it lol!)

Hope you're all coping okay in the crazy heat! xxx

AhoyMcCoy · 08/07/2013 18:32

Elednor, glad to hear you've got the scan for tomorrow instead. Fingers crossed all is well.

Sympathetic hugs to those struggling in the heat and those suffering from sickness. My sickness is starting to get so much better- as long as I sleep well and eat crackers every half hour I'm ok now! Bloody DH woke up at 6am this morning and started kissing my (barely there!) bump and talking to it! I almost punched him in the face- I don't have to get up til 8am and the weird wake up call was not appreciated!!!! Grin

littlestgirlguide · 08/07/2013 18:58

Im not sure how long I'm going to be able to cope in my office. Its unbearably hot. 32 degrees today according to my friends greenhouse thermometer she brought in. There are windows all round, so no matter what time of day the whole office is in full sun, and though we have fans they are just moving the sauna-like air abround a bit. I had to leave my desk this afternoon (while a customer waited for me) so I could go and run cold water on my wrists to try and cool down a bit. It's been ok in the heat while I've been on holiday, but work is horrific!

misskatamari · 08/07/2013 18:59

Awww that is so cute Ahoy! Although I imagine very annoying! Bless him Grin

Bearfrills · 08/07/2013 19:43

At least it was the bump Ahoy, DH keeps trying his best moves on me and I keep turning him down, I'm too sickly and tired to be fussed about luuuurve :o

lyndsey90 · 08/07/2013 19:46

Sick of the fatigue now! Can't do nowt without yawning!

barebranches · 08/07/2013 21:01

daily mail link warning!

oh no!!!

EeyoreIsh · 08/07/2013 21:38

bare that's awful! I'm asthmatic so I'll definitely be getting the flu jab this year!

misskatamari · 08/07/2013 21:41

ooooh that's interesting bare - the midwife i spoke to today recommended getting the flu vaccine in September

Articles in the DM always are Grin

Sassy20 · 09/07/2013 07:48

I'll be getting my flu jab as get one every year and did last time I was pregnant.

Elednor - hope the scan goes ok. X

Bearfrills · 09/07/2013 09:15

I get a flu jab each year too, DH is asthmatic so our GP always offers me one as well as him. Does anyone know anything about the whooping cough jab? I had whooping cough as a baby so I should already have antibodies, will I still need the jab?

Got my booking-in tomorrow when I'll be 7+3. Not supposed to have it until 10wks but the MW is insisting I am 10wks based on last period, but that's with a 28 day cycle and mine is longer. I'm going to explain that as there is only one possible date I could have gotten pregnant (allowing a few days over that for fertilisation) and the length of my cycle the most I can possibly be is 7+3.

Good luck for today Elednor, I'll be thinking of you andI hope everything is well.

Everything I've read says they do flu and WC jabs on the same day, one in each arm. I think I'll be insisting on having them done separately as I'm always ill for a day or two after a vaccination, last time I had flu jab I had fever and chills for 24hrs after.

misskatamari · 09/07/2013 10:03

Midwife mentioned whooping cough Jab yesterday but i can't remember how many weeks she said you have it at. It sounded like you could have them on different days tho.

misskatamari · 09/07/2013 10:05

Gosh I can't believe how tired I am at the moment and how much I am sleeping! I was asleep in the day yesterday and thought that would mean I wouldn't sleep last night but I slept and tried to get up about 7 but ended up going back to bed for a few hours as I was so tired! Anyone else feeling like they could just sleep all the time?

SugarMiceInTheRain · 09/07/2013 10:07

Had my scan this morning, staff at EPAU were lovely. Saw a little heart beating and everything looks good, however the scan dates me as 2 weeks behind where I calculated, which means I'm now due around 26th February. It also means I still have another 6 weeks or so of feeling grotty until I reach my 2nd trimester :( But happy that the heartbeat is there and everything looks ok.

SugarMiceInTheRain · 09/07/2013 10:07

misskatamari yes I could sleep all the time. I have (when time permits) been taking a nap in the day, especially at weekends.

Bearfrills · 09/07/2013 10:18

I could sleep all day too, I'm going out on Saturday night and I've already arranged for DH to take the kids to the park so I can have a nana nap mid-afternoon :o

Great news about the scan sugarmice :) you might catch your dates back up though at the 12w scan. I had an early scan with DD that put me at 7wks, I thought I was 9wks. Exactly five weeks later I went to my 12w scan expecting to be spot on 12w. They dated me 13+5. With DS I was scanned at 6w, thinking I was 12w (I had really irregular periods back then), went back six weeks later thinking I'd be 12w and I was 13+4. I think it's hard for them to accurately date until 11-14wks. Excellent news though and so glad for you that everything is as it should be :)

misskatamari · 09/07/2013 10:32

Awwww sugarmice I'm glad your scan went well! Smile I bet it was so exciting! Fingers crossed it doesn't mean you'll be feeling grotty for longer.

I've got my private scan this afternoon and am nervous but excited Grin

Glad I'm not the only one so knackered - I guess it takes it out if us growing these babies!

SamL88 · 09/07/2013 10:48

I'm incredibly behind the times with this new thread! Nausea and tiredness have been so bad the past few weeks, I've barely done anything, let alone check MN!
Better get reading what everyone's been up to.....

Novascotia33 · 09/07/2013 10:52

Congrats Sugarmice, that's same day I'm due too, though scan not till aug - so could change.

Huey Lewis and News 'Happy to be stuck with you' has just reduced me to tears!!! FFS. Gotta love those pregnancy hormones, I'm really glad I work alone at moment like this. I'm an emotional car crash. "We've had some fun, and yes we've had our ups and downs ....

bugsyburge · 09/07/2013 10:57

yay I've got my scan date through.... 24th July.... they haven't put anything on the letter about special instructions but I've heard some people have been told to go with full bladders.... could anyone clarify?
