Mac it does seem to really vary place to place with regards to scan dates. Where I am they send you a letter with the booking number on and then you phone and make the appointment yourself. I had a scan at 9 weeks and the receptionist booked by 12 and 20 week scans whilst we were there and even moved one of them to a later time when she realised Dh was a teacher and wouldn't be able to get out of school.

Why is it that during the week I struggle to wake up and at the weekend when I can have the luxury of a lie in I'm wide awake. Grr.

Congrats Pod on managing to keep things down. Hopefully it carries on for the rest of your hols and you'll feel great by the time you get back Smile .

Frizz (I think) good luck to your dh on his interview. My Dh went through a similar thing at the start but managed to get a job at the perfect school for him in the end (probably everyone else's nightmares school but he likes the tricky kids!), so you have my sympathies. All the knock backs is quite soul destroying for them so my fingers are firmly crossed for you both.

Sorry but that's all my brain could remember. Think I might use my time effectively this morning and browse Ravelry for some patterns. Finally finished a baby blanket for a friend this week which has taken ages so looking forward to starting a new project. Need to make something small for someone at Dh's work as she is due December (felt like our thunder has been stolen a little bit there but I am pleased for them as they had been ttc a while) and then I get to make things for my little bean. Grin .

Naturegirl82 · 29/06/2013 07:31

Wow mammoth message sorry about that! Blush

Mac2014 · 29/06/2013 07:32

Thanks pod I could have killed her... Hormonal rage obvs!

A little bit of power turns some people into little dictators who think they can judge your life choices.

TobyLerone · 29/06/2013 07:45

Well done on the eating, pod. It must feel great for you :)

Re Bounty -- basically there are many stories about reps coming round postnatal wards and bullying new mums to buy their photos. They sell your details on when they get them and are generally unscrupulous. Several tales of mums being shaken awake by reps to be given the hard sell.
I've never found it hard to tell people to bugger off, but it's definitely annoying and a disturbance. Must be quite upsetting if you're feeling a bit vulnerable. It's also annoying that they're allowed free rein of the postnatal wards when your own DH has to abide by visiting hours.
Read up a bit on it if you have time. Some of the stories are shocking!

mac, that career women remark would have given me The Rage! Shock

nature, I want to start knitting! Like the shopping for maternity clothes, I feel like I don't want to until after the scan. So I'm in limbo just now :(

Naturegirl82 · 29/06/2013 07:51

Maybe we should start a mutiny against all mean scan booking appointment ladies. There seems to be some right ol' jobs worth around. Seems a dangerous game to me to upset hormonal ladies!

Toby I know what you mean. I really hope you get your scan soon. I've got a week till mine so will plug that gap with making these bits for dh friend. Smile

Toothfairy78 · 29/06/2013 07:54

Ooh do we have many knitters/crocheted/crafters on here?

I'm knitting up some toys (cow, dinosaurs, octopus) for friends babies who are like 6 months now before getting started for mine. I'm so behind! Am thinking for mine toy animals, blanket, hats with with the umbilical knot on...fun stuff in general.

What are you ladies thinking to make for yours?

TobyLerone · 29/06/2013 07:57

I'm not a great knitter. Blankets, I can do. Maybe a really easy cardigan. I wish I were better at it.

Naturegirl82 · 29/06/2013 08:13

I'm a crocheter and general crafter. I can knit but I find it so slow compared to crocheting I get frustrated. Which is a little bit annoying as a I tend to find really nice knitting patterns and can never find the same in a crochet pattern.

I'm going to start with some small booties and things just for instant gratification.

Toby I like the toys as well so might do something like that as well. My best friend and mum are knitters as well so I think bean is going to be spoilt! Smile

Naturegirl82 · 29/06/2013 08:13

Whoops meant tooth! I don't think my brain has fully woken up yet! Blush

Toothfairy78 · 29/06/2013 08:23

Hehe! Don't worry nature it's not midday yet!

Toothfairy78 · 29/06/2013 08:25

Wish I could crochet so I could do all those cool amigurumi toys I keep seeing patterns for. So far I've only managed a basic crochet frog.

TobyLerone · 29/06/2013 08:28

Oh, and re exercise (Pod?), I'm going back to the gym soon. Busy week next week, so I'll probably wait til the week after.

fryingpantoface · 29/06/2013 08:30

I quilt, so will be making wall hangings etc after 24 weeks. My mom is going to make a blanket, she did for ds and it's lovely. again, she'll do that after 24 weeks

Naturegirl82 · 29/06/2013 08:31

Tooth they are the ones I like Grin . In some really funky colours. I'm getting excited. Even though I have a massive box of wool here I feel a trip to the wool shop is needed.

Naturegirl82 · 29/06/2013 08:35

Pod I've a vaguely crazy idea I'm going to go out for a run this afternoon. Gone from running 4 times a week and netball 3 times a week to nothing at the mo so going a bit mental. Definitely need to feel the wind in my hair again (that's the sea breeze and not related to how fast I run - which is not fast at all! Haha!).

Bluecarrot · 29/06/2013 08:43

Oh, I'm making a cocoon and plan to make an Amish puzzle ball (ravelry). I'm not fond of stuffed animals at all. Instead I'm planning on making the blooming cushion ( Lucy's attic).

Also making a blanket ( prob Lucy's one) and a hat/cardigan/booties/mittens set or 4.

All except the cocoon and clothes I'm making from style craft special dk I think. I might end up doing the clothes in it- going to see how others turn out. The cocoon is in James Brett wool iirc as it's multicoloured. I wanted it to be a mixed green as I'm doing a hungry caterpillar one.

I knit and crochet though not overly quick at either and stick to basic stitches ATM.

I'm making extra cardigans and blankets for the neonatal unit - maybe you might want to check your hospitals neonatal and see what they need and knit up a few? Hats are extremely quick esp in preemie size. My local already has enough to last years though!

My bleeding is slow and brown so we are going ahead with holiday ( first 3 hr drive to share news with dps family then tomorrow dd and I drive another 3 hours to Donegal where we are staying in a cottage with two friends and their kids) can't wait for my R plates to come off in October so I can drive more than 45mph!

Don't do anything too exciting for the next week- ok? Grin

Naturegirl82 · 29/06/2013 08:48

I'm going to have a snoop on those patterns blue they sound fab. Sounds positive about the bleeding. fx it stops soon. Good luck for the drive and have a good holiday. I have 15 days (and counting) till my jolly holiday! Cannot wait.

Right I actually need to get on with things. I have another delightful trip to the bank to ensure they have definitely changed my address as something was forwarded from my old house this week (3rd time I've been in so getting a bit fed up!)

Have a good Saturday everyone Smile

Toothfairy78 · 29/06/2013 09:01

I'm feeling inspired now! Just found a baby blanket pattern on knitty.com which has a cool hypno-optical effect. I will need to shop for yarn for this obviously...Dh is still,asleep...

TobyLerone · 29/06/2013 09:04

I'm going to ask MIL to make us this, because she crochets. I love it!

Naturegirl82 · 29/06/2013 09:10

Toby I love that pattern. I've had it hooked on my Ravelry for ages. It's gorgeous.

Sultanajo · 29/06/2013 09:17

Good luck blue hope it all goes ok.

nature I know what u mean - I always struggle to get up on work days but days off I am wide awake!!!Shock

pod vomming on a plane - that sucks! Fabulous news about your food and drink however! Woop woop! Grin Exercise wise I am going to try a light swim tomorrow - am quite nervous about it which is ridiculous!

choco I feel for you! Finished work late last night and had the worst headache of my life. I just wanted to chop my head off - it made the nausea 100 times worse and there was nothing I could take. Its much better today but still lingering. Try to force fluids down to try to shift it, but struggling today. It has got to bugger off by tomorrow as have a 6 hour car journey - marvellous! Sad

Frogcatcher · 29/06/2013 09:17

pod my stomach is definitely not flat anymore & I'm used to it being concave as I'm quite skinny. I used to be a bit of a gym bunny but have just been too tired to do anything except Pilates in the first 12 wks plus I had a sore throat and cough that made me breathless. I'm not sure what I should do in the gym now so have started swimming & aqua aerobics classes. I think i will just do classes but tell the instructor so that they know what to modify. I know crunches & sit-ups are banned & think lifting heavy weights must be too. I still do modified Pilates & plan to start pre-natal yoga once I'm 16 weeks. Perhaps you could have a chat with a trainer at your gym & get a modified programme put together? Swimming is good as you can't pull muscles which apparently you are prone to in pregnancy due to things becoming more flexible.

Sultanajo · 29/06/2013 09:21

Toby I still have the rage for you! Angry As you say, not being able to get the reassurance is what is most upsetting. I completely understand why u had meltdowns - am keeping everything crossed u get a scan, whether private or nhs asap. Great your DH is on board and is happy to go private if needed!

Loving the idea of a hormonal flash mob! Grin

Frogcatcher · 29/06/2013 09:22

Oh & I'm still playing 9 holes of golf once or twice a week - could be interesting as I get bigger & can no longer see the ball!
