Hello! Just gone 13 weeks today. Had my 2nd scan on Tuesday (they accidentally booked me in too early for the Downs Syndrome scan a fortnight ago) and all was fine. Very low risk so I'm pleased, and our little bean was having a wriggle and a wave:) Is anyone else here on their 4th pregnancy? I'm positive I had a couple of Braxton Hicks contractions today? I wouldn't be surprised as when I had the scan the other day, the sonographer told me my uterus was having a contraction and would probably stay that way for at lest 20mins, so bubs was a bit squished up on the screen lol! Today was the first day I felt like I had my energy back, and my nausea has gone!

HumptyDumptyBumpty · 28/06/2013 10:30

nature it's 'National Childbirth Trust' - they run classes which you can do instead of, or as well as, NHS ones. Apparently some focus on non-intervention births, and breastfeeding, have never been (first baby) but plan to.

papermoon woop for that! Wiggly beans are ace! Braxton Hicks, you say? I wondered if I was having a uterus contraction on the way to work this morning, sort of a squeezy, sharpish feeling...
Also feel more energetic (but it is only 10.30...) but still a touch nauseous first thing. 12weeks today for me!

Sultanajo · 28/06/2013 10:49

Yeay papermoon how exciting! Cant believe my scan was only a week ago - feels like ages ago!

humpty happy 12 weeks! Thats one milestone ticked! Cant believe am 14 weeks today! Grin Feeling more positive today! Grin

LittlePeaPod · 28/06/2013 11:01

Right we are here but waiting till 12.30 to get access to room. Not complaining though...

So flight was hard, first time I have thrown up on a plane.... Super sensitive sense of smell and I happened to be sitting near someone who was wearing perfume that Chickpea clearly didn't approve of. So that set me off Sad Thanks for the well wishes ladies.. Here's a big bunch of Flowers for every single one of you... Grin

Also forgot to mention they have moved my dates yesterday following second 12 week scan from EDD 7/1/2014 to EDD 2/1/2014 so officially joining the ladies already in the second trimester. i am now 13+1 instead of 12+3.. Yeeaaaa

Nature. Hope you are feeling better today and dizzy spell passed...

Frog I am going to cling to your stretch mark theory along side looking like a slimy fish with all the bio oil, coco butter and E45 I have started using! Grin

Frying sorry to hear about sickness bug.. All you need when feeling tired and sick due to pregnancy. Hope you feel better soon Flowers

Chocco. Ohhh Chocco I was really keeping FX that you were coming out the other end.. Sorry you had a crappy day yesterday..

Bunt just read bout your scan... Great news... Ohhh all curled up... That's o cute. Smile

toby really sorry to ear you missed your scan.. Can't believe how rude they were to you. Hopefully you will get rebooked really quickly.. Flowers

Pdgey. Thank you. Yes I have been on meds nice going in hospital at about 8/9 weeks. Unfortunately they only wrk f you don't throw them p and when I have them I get really drowsy which isn't good for work.... FX it passes on.... Thanks gain for asking.. With regard your question on taking children. My SIL took her three year old little boy to her 12 week scan and they were fine. When i went for my NHS 12 week scan there was a coupe here with a little toddler. MY SIL called ahead first. I think it may be different in all the hospitals though..

Percy I am sorry. I am sure in I've she will come round it's just so hard seeing pregnant people following a loss.

Paper congratulations on the scan.....

Sorry I missed anyone but just so hard keeping up. I ay do better whilst sat on my butt on holiday...

Have a lovely, relaxing time, Pod!

Re Braxton Hicks -- I have noticed that my lower belly is very hard sometimes, especially first thing in the morning. I am also almost certain that I can feel the biggest fibroid from the outside now. Which is gross!

I rang the hospital back. Apparently they're so booked up they might not scan me at all now Shock

What the horrible woman yesterday neglected to tell me was that they've had a new system installed and it's not up and running for another week, so they're doing all appointments longhand and manually now. The lady I spoke to today was absolutely lovely -- she kept calling me 'sweetie' and said that everyone's done what I did. But sadly, the upshot was that she couldn't help because she doesn't do obstetric appointments and I need to call the nasty woman back this afternoon. So that'll be fun Hmm

Naturegirl82 · 28/06/2013 12:03

Thanks humpty, does anyone know if these are better or worse than the nhs ones? I really don't feel like I know very much at all. I've had my booking in app at the hospital and it was all very rushed. I'm back there again for my 2nd 12 week scan in a weeks time so think I'll ask for things to be explained again. I've not met the midwife from my surgery either so feel a bit in limbo. I have been looking into that onetoone midwifes thing Pea is doing as it is in my area and wondering if that might be better for me.

Frogcatcher · 28/06/2013 12:20

toby they might not scan you at all? Shock can they do that?! A trainee midwife on another thread said that if the NHS won't provide you with the care you need you're entitled to go private & claim back the cost. Might be worth exploring...

I've still not had my scan date through & today I'm 11+4. Midwife hasn't replied to my text from weds & if I hadn't paid for a private scan on Tues I would be seriously worried by now. The private sonographer I saw also said key date has moved to 14+1 now & did a visual check (but didn't measure) of the nuchal fold.

TobyLerone · 28/06/2013 12:26

Apparently so. I will definitely get one, never you fear! It's just that I've only really got a week to organise it now.

Naturegirl82 · 28/06/2013 12:46

Toby that really sucks. I can't believe she didn't tell you this yesterday. I hope it all gets sorted soon.

LittlePeaPod · 28/06/2013 12:48

Nature. I can definitely recommend the one to one MW. I met her last week and they are fantastic impaired to the NHS. They will spend as much or as little time as you want going through everything. Not rushing like the last 3 NHS MW appointments I have had. Why not speak to them and see what you think...

Have a nice hol pea

toby that's horrible. Hopefully this woman just got out of bed the wrong side and will be better today.

mrsa our nct membership is included in the price of the course. Haven't had the 12 week scan yet but know they book up fast and as the one I want is for Dec and Jan babies I assumed that all the Dec and early Jan people would have already booked. Thankfully they hold our place until July 9th and that's when we have to confirm and sort paying so we will know by then.

Congrats on some good scans people and to those who are further along than they thought. Yay for 2nd trimester

Well i am 11+4 today and can't wait til my scan on Monday. Really hoping that it's an uber happy day and scan goes fab and Dh gets his job that he is missing the scan to interview for. Altho this morning he is doubting that he can get it as he thinks he isn't good enough.
Trying to pick a man up when he's down is hard.

Will try and catch up everything else later as lunch break is over.

keskiviikko · 28/06/2013 13:00

Toby that sucks. Hope you get a scan sorted out.

We went for Bob mainly because of the Black Adder reference, but also because STD, glorified tapeworm or parasite seemed to upset some people! Hmm

Had another visit to the hospital today, and have been allowed a 6 week repreive. But that doesn't include the 16 week visit to the midwife and more blood tests before hand. Also told that because I'm fat I have to have a scan at 28, 32 and 36 weeks to make sure the baby is growing properly and that I have to have a glucose tolerance test. Yip. Think i should just rent a room there.

HumptyDumptyBumpty · 28/06/2013 13:02

toby that's outrageous! I hope you fight hard, and WIN. We are all behind you (and I have a lot of rage I can bring to bear Grin).

nature not better or worse, I think - unless you are set on no intervention/breastfeeding, in which case I believe NCT is more suited. NHS ones you learn about possible (necessary!) interventions, so more 'all-round' perhaps! Mine (NHS) is 3rd Nov, so I'll report back then Grin.

pod have a WICKED time, and hope your 2nd trimester begins to be less pukey and sick feeling. I am off on Weds for a week in france, cannot wait!

frog that's also appalling - bloody people! Have you called the hospital direct?

sultana it is a nice milestone - next one is 4 days away (scan), which is also nice!

TobyLerone · 28/06/2013 13:54

So I called again. She was even worse! She basically called me a liar and said she'd told me about the computer system problem. I think that when this is sorted I'm going to complain about her.
Anyway, the upshot was that I won't hear until Tuesday, or perhaps later. I called my MW. She said that I should tell them on Tuesday that I'm willing to be seen at any other hospital if necessary. There's nowhere in the area which does NT screening privately without going to London, which I could do, but would obviously prefer it to be done locally.

If all else fails, they'll just scan me without being able to measure the nuchal fold, and do '2nd trimester blood tests', which are still very accurate.

I must be very hormonal at the moment. The nasty bitch made me cry again! Angry

LittlePeaPod · 28/06/2013 14:07

Oh Toby what a complete nasty piece of work she is. I hope you get it sorted on Tuesday but I think you have every right to be angry and upset, regardless of hormones...

Humpty thank you.. I bet you can't wait till Wednesday. Grin

OP posts:
MrsVDB · 28/06/2013 14:29

toby that must be awful, can you call the midwife supervisor (number should be on your notes) and explain how upset this is all making you.

frying I feel just like you. Every day I expect bleeding or a mmc at scan. Last time (mc at 7 weeks) wed discussed names, nursery etc but this time we haven't discussed anything and I haven't even thought about nct classes, when ill go on maternity, names, etc. I'm just convinced I won't get that far. Hopefully it'll change after scan on 16th. I've bought a pregnancy journal which I hope will help

KerrysBelly · 28/06/2013 14:31

Hi all

Just come across this forum, can I join the club? Current EDD is 15 Jan 14. 1st pregnancy so all very new to me. Didn't find out I was expecting til I was 8 weeks so hubby and I still getting used to the idea but very pleased, not many symptoms (no MS at all thank goodness) so will be glad to get to 1st scan to prove there is actually a baby in there! I know I'm not the only one feeling this way though which is reassuring.

Have my booking appt with midwife next Weds, which according to my blood tests I will be 12 weeks exactly so hope they get a move on with the scan after that.

Anyway, I have read most of this post (it moves fast) and you all seem a lovely bunch, so I thought I would add my name to the list :-)

TobyLerone · 28/06/2013 14:47

Trouble is, MrsV, there's nothing they can do. My MW (who is lovely) said that there's no point calling them because if they don't know what appointments they've got until their system is back up (ie Tuesday), they won't be able to tell her any more than they can tell me. Once it's sorted (and not before, in case she sabotages me!), I shall find out who I need to contact at the hospital to complain.

Hi Kerrys, and welcome! Be prepared to read quickly :o

fryingpantoface · 28/06/2013 14:51

MrsV i'm so glad more people understand. According to my dates i'm 11 weeks tomorrow, but for some reason the midwife has it as 11 weeks today with the same due date.

It was 11 weeks exactly I found out about the mmc, so it's all a little fraught today. Still, the scan is in one week. Once I have that, it'll all be better!

My mom, brother, and sister land in the country on Sunday, they come to see me on Monday, we're going out on a family trip on Tuesday and to kiddicare and ikea on Wednesday. Then the Manchester Mumsnet meet up on wed night, so there's a lot going on at the moment and i'm really pleased about it. Next week should fly by

MrsAVB · 28/06/2013 15:41

Afternoon!
toby that sucks, I'm sorry she made you cry, what a bitch. Give us her number (when you have it sorted) and we'll all prank call her.
Re. NCT/ hospital courses. From what I've heard from friends who've done both, one isn't better or worse. I think the NHS ones are shorter (3 eves and one half day BFing workshop where I am), and there's not a focus on meeting and getting to know other parents, so it can be a bit hit or miss if one of the reasons you're going is to meet people. Also for us, the hospital has a big catchment area, whereas the NCT is very close so we're hoping there'll be more people going who are near to us. The one we're doing is 7 eves and a half day BFing workshop, but including membership it's working out at over £300, ouch! It's much cheaper if you're not in London though.
X

MrsAVB · 28/06/2013 15:42

Oh and we're doing both btw!

HumptyDumptyBumpty · 28/06/2013 15:46

toby I'm still fuming on your behalf though. Can they not use a paper diary and pencil until the 'system' is up and running? The idea that you miss out because of their tech issues would send me to this state in less than a minute ---> Angry

MrsV and fryingpan if it helps, I worry daily about mmc (not bled or had pain), but I've never had one. I think worry is natural. Here's a hand to hold if it helps!

MrsAVB we'll prob do both too. I am a researcher (naturally and professionally) so I like to know EVERYTHING Grin

MrsGSR · 28/06/2013 16:22

mrsv, frying and humpty I'm 11 week is tomorrow and have been worrying so much these lay few weeks! I've not had a mc before but was told is lost this one due to an administration error (way back on that 1 or 2) so am knicker-checking and over analysing every little niggle. I'm hoping I'll relax after the 12 week scan (at 13 weeks)

toby fx you get out all sorted!
