Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Been doing a lot of crying for the last few weeks to be honest Toby. I haven't wanted to make the situation worse for them. It's an impossible situation.

Firstly, was so excited that they were going to have a baby just 4 weeks before us. Now, been feeling very guilty for being pregnant. It's a bit of an emotional rollercoaster - excitement for us, sadness for them and the loss of our future niece/nephew too. The family feels very confused... My poor parents, stuck between supporting both daughters.

Anyway, enough of my grumpiness and sadness, don't want to bring things down. Thanks for listening.

Hope you get your scan Toby soon.

MrsAVB · 27/06/2013 17:59

Congrats on lovely scan kes!
toby... Booooooo... That is so sucky! I hope you're feeling ok and that a new appointment that DH can make comes through soon.
choco also booooo... Hope tonight is bearable and it's exciting telling your friends.
percy sorry the task didn't work out as you planned... Hope you're ok.
Went to m&s bra shopping today. Why is it that normal non-wired tshirt bras are 2for £12.50 and maternity bras which are virtually identical except for the nursing clip bit are 2 for £32! Bastards!
X

TobyLerone · 27/06/2013 18:11

Oh, percy, you poor thing :( You should be able to be excited without having to worry, but I totally understand why you're upset. It's a shame for you, but you might have to be a bit low-key for a while around your sis. I'm sure she'll come around when it's a bit less raw for her.
You sound like a lovely sister Flowers

Sultanajo · 27/06/2013 18:54

Toby so sorry u missed your scan and you had a giant ass of a receptionist! What is wrong with people??? Really hope u get seen soon. How stressful and disappointing!

Percy really sorry it didnt work out as you hoped. I guess at least she is letting you know how she feels rather than bottling it up, so you know where you are with things. Still not nice on either side. You can be as excited as you like with us, so feel free to gush!!! Grin

Fabulous scan news for everyone else and hope it gives reassurance to those having bleeding/worries. (sorry, am on my phone so dont want to mention individuals as I am bound to miss someone).

Pod hope you are doing OK hun.

Counting the weeks to the next midwife appointment when hopefully will hear the heartbeat. Finding it hard today not to worry without my scan fix, which is crazy as still nauseous and all has been well. Think its because am starting to tell people - feel like am jinxing things....come on bump....I need to know you are growing OK in there! I keep having a feel to see if anything is appearing like a paranoid crazy woman - think I can feel the uterus above my pubic bone, but being the first time am not 100% sure thats what I am feeling....Wink

Am away this weekend training and there is a swimming pool, so gonna brave the pool and do my first bit of proper exercise since the nausea hit! Ekkk! Just hoping my swimming costume fits.....Shock

fryingpantoface · 27/06/2013 19:07

I'm in the midst of crazy thinking at the moment.

I dunno if i'm having a boy or girl - I just knew last time - I don't feel bonded to the baby. I'm thinking it could be a self-preservation thing because of the mmc last time. I don't feel pregnant at all. I do feel sick, but DH and I have the bug DS kindly passed onto us.

Then, to add to it all, I keep forgetting to take my vitamins which means i'm panicking i'll have made the baby have spinda bifida. Which is stupid, it's pointless worrying about it, but i'm worried. I read that the first 28 days of the baby is the most important for folic acid etc, but given that I found out just before 5 weeks and I was on the pill, it's not like I've been taking it while ttc iyswim. So, in a nutshell, today is a panicky day

Sultanajo · 27/06/2013 19:18

frying being ill always makes me feel more worried and vulnerable. Try not to worry too much (easy for me to say) - there must be lots of ladies out there who havent been trying and are caught out and are their babies turn out fine. Two of my mates werent trying, went out drinking ++ etc and didnt find out until 6-7 weeks and all was well. Grin

extracrunchy · 27/06/2013 19:20

Frying, breathe!

Not feeling bonded may well be a defense thing after your mmc, but more likely you're just wiser the second time round. You've actually met DS as a first real life baby, which is much more intense than the feelings you have for a baby in utero - in my experience anyway. You're just a bit more jaded and less starry eyed this time because it's not as new and romantic. Will be when you meet him/her though!

Re vitamins I worried about this last time as with v irregular cycles and bleeds I didn't realise I was pregnant for ages! GP was very reassuring and said baby takes what it needs and gets plenty as long as your diet's ok. And DS is a big strong genius (in my totally unbiased opinion)!

fryingpantoface · 27/06/2013 19:22

Thank you so much sultana and extra

You're right, the baby will be fine and being ill always makes you feel like a crazy person.

It's true that DS is my main priority which is why the pregnancy seems to be flying by, I've got a real life child to look after.

Thanks xx

percy sorry to hear you didn't get to tell her. Given time I'm sure everyone'll will be ready.

I forgot to ask whereabouts are you and pidgy based then?

curlywurlyllass · 27/06/2013 20:25

Thanks frogcatcher got an appointment first thing and gp gave me antibiotics :D
Still in a lot of pain but hope to get a sleep soon

Toby that sucks about your scan!

hope everyone is happy its almost the weekend

chocoloulou33 · 27/06/2013 21:27

Grrrr toby feel bad for you. How dare the receptionist be such a cow. Was it Canterbury by any chance?! I found them quite rude there with my 1st scan! Or am I getting muddled with who lives in Kent?
Todays rly not been good. I only lasted til 8.30 in pub. Did manage a little to eat but then started feeling lightheaded & that's a first. Am in bed now. My friends were great & so understanding x

TobyLerone · 27/06/2013 22:34

No, it was at WHH. The cow!

Hope you feel better tomorrow, loulou.

frying, I keep forgetting my vitamins, too. I think we've done the most important bit, so cut yourself some slack :) I hope you feel better very soon, too.

HumptyDumptyBumpty · 27/06/2013 22:56

frying I agree, i thought the neural tube thing (what causes SB) was only until it closes, about 7 weeks gone (or so)? After that it's helpful and important but not the end of the world. Also, they're just vitamins. Women must have babies in developing countries without them, and they don't all have spina bifida/other neural tube defects etc. The vits are just an extra layer of defence.

BuntCadger · 27/06/2013 23:18

Would people be up for me creating a Facebook group? I'd set the settings so its secret so only members can see it, who's in it and the posts? Just a nice way to share scan pics etc xx

extracrunchy · 28/06/2013 00:49

I would! Nice idea.

LittlePeaPod · 28/06/2013 05:27

Morning ladies... Not had a have to catch up properly...

Bunt I know the idea was raised before regarding setting a Facebook page up on the thread. It's not really for me at the moment because I would prefer to keep the pregancy to just very close family, friends and my boss/HR at work. Plus I would not want to put put scan/baby pictures or updates on FB because i want to keep it private to MN and very close family/friends ect. on FB.

LittlePeaPod · 28/06/2013 05:48

So trying to catch up and sorry if I miss anyone or... Wink

Regarding cars... I am gutted I have t get rid of my car and get a new one.. Getting a 4x4 because of space and also snow gets really bad were we live so need to make sure baby and I don't get snowed in.

Brilliant news to hear about all the positive scans and booking in appointment news. Good luck to those due scans, tests and MW appointments. Smile

My thoughts with everyone feeling pants... I hope you feel better soon. Flowers

Enormous that would send me into melt down too is DF sat on his arse and didn't do anything when I feel so shit.... Hope you are feeling better.. Flowers

Sultanajo. Yes, I actually wished the sickness on myself... Grin. With regards paternity leave know how you feel. DF won't be taking anytime off but at least his cancelled his trips to the Far East in Nov and January which he normally does every year.... Also his going to be flexible as I need him which is great..

MrsGSR I would worry about the pains. I get stretchy pains all the time. MW, Dc and Sonography have all said that's completely normal.

Chocco thank you. How are you getting on with the pg sickness now? Dreading th flight as already feeling sick and flight is at 6.30am

Blue so sorry o hear your news regarding bleeding. how worrying that is but also great to hear scans showed baby was alright.. This worrying will never end...

Need to go board flight so will catch up with more later..

Last but not least have a fantastic weekend ladies. We are all nearly in trimester two... Grin

Morning all!
pea have a lovely break!
Booked my NCT classes... OMG am shocked at how much more you have to pay in London... Although I guess I shouldn't be. Have others gone for membership or not? Am not sure it seems worth it...
Have a weekend of events where drinking will be expected and as we haven't told all close family yet will still be not drinking on the sly... Sigh...
X

Sultanajo · 28/06/2013 09:05

Ekkk pod! Hope the flight was ok. Hope u have a fab holiday! Grin

Sultanajo · 28/06/2013 09:06

mrsavb I went for the nct membership in the end. Didnt think the benefits were great, but thought it would be typical if we didnt get it and then missed out on something....so difficult to know!

chocoloulou33 · 28/06/2013 09:14

Ohhh pants! I wrote a long msg earlier then went to post it & it said mumsnet was offline & lost it all grrrr! In a nutshell hope your flight was ok pod & grrr again for you toby I deal with whh too as they organise all the scans at k & c too. Hope u get scan sorted soon. Keep on at them x

TobyLerone · 28/06/2013 09:24

I went for NCT membership too. It's only £40/year, paid for in quarterly instalments. Figured it was probably worth it.

Hope the flight went well, pod :)

How are you feeling today, loulou?

Naturegirl82 · 28/06/2013 09:37

Probably a stupid question but what is nct? Feel a bit clueless about everything at the moment.
