SarahL I think go to A&E too - if it's nothing, they won't mind, and if it's something they need to treat, better you're there. I shall think of you all day and hope everything is okay.

MrsV I'd go for veggie options (even if it's, e.g. goat's cheese, it should hopefully be cooked, so fine). And yy to carrying a wine glass about, but sipping water/softs. If it's even vaguely warm you can pretend you're hot/dehydrated if you have to order more water/something soft. Good luck

sultana pillow sounds ace, but it was horrifically muggy last night. I woke up all cross from being hot and sweaty.

choco yay! Maybe this is the placenta kicking in? Hope so!

No more puking (yet?!) today, and less nausea, but still feel off, so not worried much. Appalling hayfever though. Miserable.

enjoyingscience · 20/06/2013 10:23

I would just let the lady know you're pregnant, but that it's early and you don't want to broadcast it. Caterers we work with know well what's safe and not, so it's easier than giving them a long list. Alternatively, going vegan for the night might be interesting!

TobyLerone · 20/06/2013 10:43

Humpty, you could try Prevalin for your hayfever. It's new and it is antihistamine- and steroid-free and is safe for pregnancy and breastfeeding. The DC are using it and say it's definitely working. I'm not finding mine too bad at the moment as long as I steer clear of grass being cut etc, but I managed to get some BOGOF in Sainsbury's so I've got one in the drawer in case :)

alteredimages · 20/06/2013 10:50

SarahJayne I'm sorry you're in this crap position and I'm sure it feels like the worst possible timing. Flowers I would however echo other posters in saying that you don't need his instability and antics in your life an especially not when your kid is involved. From experience, emotional abusers are great at using their relationship with children and extended family to make you the bad guy. However much you love him, don't give him this leverage. If in the end you do get back together then it has to be on your terms.

Sarahleanne if you're in pain please do get checked out at a&e. You shouldn't have to put up with being in pain and anxious for days.

Vatta · 20/06/2013 11:00

toby thank you so much for the prevalin tip, I get terrible hayfever (usually on prescription extra-strong antihistamines) and am really struggling at the moment without my normal drugs! Have just ordered some, will report back for anybody else struggling!

HumptyDumptyBumpty · 20/06/2013 11:07

toby thank you! I shall go to Boots at lunchtime and find some. Oh my, the idea of not sniffling is BLISS! Also the sneezing. Gah.

TobyLerone · 20/06/2013 11:27

DD says it makes her a bit more snotty for a while afterwards (because you squirt it up your nose), but it had a definite effect on her yesterday. She got home from school and her eyes were streaming, she was sneezing, her throat was itching and she was all rashy on her arms. By about an hour after she'd used the spray, she was feeling much better.

Worth a go, anyway :)

Madratlady · 20/06/2013 11:55

13 pages into thread 5 already? wow I'll never catch up with what's happening with everyone!

I've just had my booking in appointment and have been told I have to have shared care with a consultant as well as the midwife and will need extra scans because I have a low BMI so I'm at risk of having a low birth weight baby. I'm taking that as a green light to eat whatever I want!

Sorry to hear about everyone suffering with hay fever, this heat is exhausting even without that!

bebsy75 · 20/06/2013 12:31

I'm here. Feeling a lot better now and have 3 sick-free days. Woohooooooo! Needless to say that has set me off on a worryfest about the babe being OK. Hopefully it's just hormones levelling off. Am 11 weeks. I think! Desperate for the scan. Do hope everything's OK as I'm throwing in the towel after this pregnancy.

MrsGSR · 20/06/2013 12:56

SarahJ everyone else had said it better than I could but just wanted to say I'm thinking of you.

sarahl it might be worth going to your a&e even if they can't scan you until Tuesday, when I went they did bloods and checked my hcg levels again 2 days later.

sultanajo thanks for the review, I may have to buy one! I've been sleeping loads but it takes me a while to get to sleep as I'm so uncomfortable.

It's DHs birthday on Saturday so I'm off out to buy him a present (and a cake as I'm not up to making one this year!) I'm buying him a massive, heavy tool box so hoping someone will carry out to the car for me!

MrsGSR · 20/06/2013 12:56

Glad to see sickness is beginning to fade for some! Hopefully everyone else won't be far behind!

MrsAVB · 20/06/2013 13:29

Yo yo yo!
I am at a conference this afternoon, so blissfully not in the office til Monday. S-day tomorrow - please please please let everything be ok! This will be my first ever scan, eek! And then we are travelling to see my family. I think it's all going to be a bit overwhelming!
sarahj, so sorry you've been through all that shit, hope you are getting lots of tlc, we are always here if you need to offload! And shout CUNTPUFFIN!
sarahl FX for a swift and good outcome... I second the others; go to a&e or minor injuries unit if you are in doubling up type pain.
Re. books for blokes - I've just been to the library so far and they had a good selection. Got one for DH which was more a memoir/ funny accounts of fatherhood. Plus radio 5's bump club podcast has been brilliant for him (and me), especially in terms of understanding how tired/ shit I've been feeling, and cos its radio 5 it's man friendly!
X

HumptyDumptyBumpty · 20/06/2013 13:41

MrsAVB scan tomorrow!! Ooooooh exciting! Mine is in TWELVE DAYS (and one hour... not that I am counting...)

Enjoy your conference (hope it is one you are just attending and therefore can snooze through). x

Penny31 · 20/06/2013 13:45

mrsa good luck tomorrow! You will feel anxious and nervous but its sooooo worth the wait! It's the most amazing thing that I have ever seen!

MrsGSR · 20/06/2013 13:47

MrsA are the podcasts on the bbc website? I bought DH the bloke's guide to pregnancy and babies, it's by the loo so he's slowly reading through it!

Sultanajo · 20/06/2013 13:55

MrsV I would try and find out what the menu is if you can or otherwise tell them so they can sort something out for you.... Nightmare when they just plonk stuff down infront of you at the best of times....

Great to hear some of you are getting vom free periods! Hurray! Fingers crossed you are coming out the other side!!! Will give the rest of us hope.... Wink

MrsAVB yeay for your first scan! Can't believe you have held out for so long! I am well impressed! Will be thinking of you as I lie there hopefully seeing my own wiggly little fidget bum! My best mate is having her 20 week scan tomorrow too - ekkk! Feels like a long way away, but we are nearly at the end of June already which is incredible (although it has really really dragged up til now....)

Bit the bullet and booked onto an NCT antenatal class - runs October-November for December births. That will make it feel more real!

Was also looking into antenatal aqua classes and there is one close to me but it's a Thursday morning, so I would have to change my hours which would be a little annoying. Will give it a few more weeks until I am hopefully feeling better before thinking about whether to do it or not.... I definitely want to get back into swimming (when there is no risk of me vomming in the pool)! Blush

carrotcakecupcake · 20/06/2013 13:55

Hi all, haven't posted for a while as just been feeling so so so very tired and can't seem to do anything but exist at the moment! Fortunately I seem to have avoided any and all ms (she says while ducking as others throw things at her) which is a relief as it was something I was really worried about. Dying to tell my mum and compare with her pregnancies as I think we're very similar.
Had my booking in last week and v pleased with my MW, feel v comfortable with her which is nice.
Have also (most exciting) just ordered first pair of mat jeans, after spending past two days with waistband digging into bump (bloat) I finally succumbed to Gap website! Down here in deepest, darkest Cornwall our shop options are rather limited!

Sultanajo · 20/06/2013 13:56

I bought DH "pregnancy for men" which arrived today and after having a quick nosey through it, it looks quite good. Just need to persuade him to read it now!!!

Sultanajo · 20/06/2013 14:10

Carrot it's rough enough feeling knackered so won't throw anything at you! Wink You have very strong will power having held off telling your mum! I was going to hold off too as didn't want to worry her after it all going wrong last time, but as soon as I saw her I blurted it out and actually I am glad I did as she has been really supportive and is coming to my scan tomorrow - hopefully a much more positive scan than the last one she had. It's a bit nerve wracking as am finally going to be going back to the same place who scanned me in January and told me I had a MMC and it was my Mum who was with me that time too, so I am hopeful that this time I will break the bad memories and replace them with good! If I hadn't had a good private scan last week I don't think I would be taking my Mum tomorrow, as I don't want to put her through that again! However, I really want her to see my little bubs wriggling around, so it had better be active when we go!!! Grin

Mythreeknights · 20/06/2013 14:46

good luck sultana for your scan tomorrow Smile, I am sure all will be well.

I have been having sharp pain in my right boob for two days now...so have finally switched to my old hotmilk mat bras. Feels better but i do keep finding myself rubbing it so not 100%.

My scan isn't until 9 July when i will be 12 weeks...first one this pg so v exciting. Nausea has lifted but boy I am knackered...totally understand the poster who said she is 'existing'.

Can't wait to hear all new scan news. hope everyone is doing well.

quackojuliet · 20/06/2013 14:48

Ooo scans so exciting! Mine is on monday, nearly there now!
I've had some relief from all day and night nausea now and starting to feel more human... My latest synmptom though is drooling! Its disgusting!! Need to wipe with a tissue to stop it dribbling down my chin ha ha!

enormouse · 20/06/2013 14:53

Have any of you flicked through the books for men? I'd like to get my DP one but he's an insufferable know it all as he 'did the whole birth thing' less than 2 years ago therefore he doesn't need to read up.

carrot I sympathise, I'm having to make a trip into Belfast to pick up some things next week.

I indulged in a little retail therapy myself today. Bought myself a pair of wedged trainers which are amazing - give me the height I desperately need yet are so comfy. Had a bit of a meltdown when I saw the maternity wear as it didn't feel very 'me'. But a very sympathetic friend pulled me back from the ledge.

sarahl fx for you. Let us know how it goes x.

Sultanajo · 20/06/2013 14:57

Thanks mythree - hope your boob gets better. Really need to get measured myself! Just have to summon up the energy to go....

Sultanajo · 20/06/2013 15:00

quack omg that made me laugh! Drooling! Bless ya! That sucks!

Glad u got brought back from the ledge enormouse! All the dresses I tried on at jojomamabebe made me look frumpy and mumsey! Not the look I was going for! Grin

carrotcakecupcake · 20/06/2013 15:37

sultanamy mum lives in the States so its been pretty easy keeping things from her...except when we have out weekly phone catch up and I'm constantly racking my brain to talk about things other than me! Think I'm really going to miss her over next few months but glad shes been talking about coming over next year Smile hope your scan goes well, yous so lucky to have your mums hand to hold!!
