OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

carrot ah yes, that makes it a little easier to keep it a secret! She will absolutely be coming over next year when she finds out your news! Yes I feel extremely lucky to have my mum around. She is coming up 75 so I really cherish all our moments together and feel really blessed I can share this with her. Blush

Penny31 · 20/06/2013 16:53

Well my blood tests for the platelet issue the doc thought I had have come back normal :) phew. Just the results of the combined test to come back now. The hospital said if I was high risk they would ring me by the end of today so hopefully everything is ok! I can breathe a sigh if relief and I might even buy a little something baby related at the weekend :)

When are you all going to give in and start buying the odd thing? I know some people wait until after 20 weeks, just don't think I have the willpower!

Sultanajo · 20/06/2013 16:58

Thats excellent news penny. Really hope you dont get a phone call! Grin

I am very tempted to start getting bits and bobs - I want to wait until 20 weeks but I may weaken beforehand, especially once I start feeling better!!! Wink

TobyLerone · 20/06/2013 17:21

Fx, Penny!

I will start looking at stuff after the combined test results. I don't really need to buy much, tbh. My nephew is 19 months and a winter baby, too, so most of his stuff will be perfect for ours. I'm not having her pram because I don't like it! But she has a swinging seat, a bouncy chair, all the clothes in the entire world, steam steriliser, electric breast pump etc etc. I used to have a swinging crib and lent it to someone and I'm not sure where it is, but she has my cot, which has so far done my DC and my niece/nephews, so I can have that back. She has a moses basket, but I have a hatred of them, so won't be having one of those!

MrsGSR · 20/06/2013 17:43

Sounds good penny :) I've already weakened and bought some little bits!

DHs nephew will be 18 months in January so hopefully we can get some second hand clothes and toys :)

TobyLerone · 20/06/2013 17:52

Trouble is, MrsG, once it's out of babygros you'll be out of luck for hand me downs because your DH's nephew will be a summer baby :(

MrsGSR · 20/06/2013 18:12

Yeah, hopefully they'll be a few things we can use, summers in Devon are still pretty cold!

Naturegirl82 · 20/06/2013 18:16

Just coming on to rant. Had a mega hectic three days of work, whilst feeling rubbish because of a sore throat, and my flight has been delayed by 2 hours Sad. I just want to get into my own bed!

I'll have a scroll through and see if I can catch up. You ladies have been chatting loads! Smile

BuntCadger · 20/06/2013 18:47

Got proper dating/nt scan next week but We have decided not to have blood tests as if they cane back high we wouldn't want invasive tests and wouldn't change wether we continued with pregnancy. It was my consultant who said, prob best not have not have blood test at all as if it cake back high risk, it would play on our minds and that I should just enjoy pregnancy. So that's what were doing. I had tests with other dc so remember waiting for results. Ill know from scan if any obvious markers or concerns.

Re buying stuff, I still have all the baby bits from others and all autumn/winter babies. Still have slings, bugaboo, carseats, Moses basket (45 years old now!), cot etc. we have reusable nappies but I may get some extra for newborn. Poor baby gonna have everything almost preloved! Think we have names decided now too SmileX

Bikey86 · 20/06/2013 19:25

mythree I have also been experiencing pain...but in my left boob!!! My Bras are all far to tight. My dh is laughing at me coz as soon as I walk through the door after work I take my bra off!!! Such a relief. You also mentioned that your nausea had stopped. I haven't felt sick since Sunday and its started to concern me, I'm 8+5 today. Really worried coz one of my friends keeps saying the sicker you are the better. Is this true? Both my mum and my MIL say they had no sickness during their pregnancies.

Am I worrying unnecessarily??
X

Sultanajo · 20/06/2013 20:10

bikey everyone is different. My mum had no sickness at all whereas I have had constant nausea. Lack of symptoms doesnt necessarily mean anything is wrong. Have u got any private scans planned?

Well I left it too late before eating tonight and felt really bad right before eating and now I have eaten I feel even worse! Blerghhhh!

On the plus side just catching up with celebrity juice which is making me giggle a bit thru the nausea, but when I laugh the pressure on my stomach makes me dangerously close to losing my dinner! Shock

Percypiglet · 20/06/2013 20:10

Hello all.

Had my booking in appointment today at 9 weeks 2 days. It was a male midwife! That surprised me, I've clearly got drawn into all the stereotyping. When he called my name I actually looked around the GP surgery to check it was me he was after!! Anyway, it was all fine. But seriously, does anyone from the medical profession ever say congratulations or are they always straight down to business??

Now just waiting for our scan (20 days). These 12 weeks are DRAGGGGGING....

Best wishes to all having sickness, bleeding and general bad time. x

Sultanajo · 20/06/2013 20:14

I think I would have done a double take too percy. When u have an idea in your head of what to expect it can be surprising. I had a picture in my head of what my midwife would look like and was really taken back when I saw her.

Bikey86 · 20/06/2013 20:15

sultana no private scans planned...1st scan at 12 weeks is 17th July. Its my first baby so i guess I'm just feeling anxious about everything

HumptyDumptyBumpty · 20/06/2013 20:25

percy mine congratulated us - but I didn't expect it! People sort of forget, don't they?

My nausea is much better today - still there, but manageable. I made mac and cheese with asparagus for dinner, yum. 11w tomorrow, so I am very hopeful that the placenta is taking over for me and my HcG levels are dropping, hence the ms easing. I hope it happens for everyone else soon!

Sultanajo · 20/06/2013 20:30

Me too humpty! Grin

bikey you are in very good company with the worrying! Am sure there are other ladies on here who can give you reassurance from their experiences. In fact I have a feeling penny's symptoms eased off a little while before her scan and all was well. Grin I do totally understand your worries.....

TobyLerone · 20/06/2013 20:39

My sister had a male midwife when she was in labour with my nephew (he's 9 now). He was lovely.

My midwife doesn't look like a MW either. She's all blonde and glam and Slavic.

chocoloulou33 · 20/06/2013 20:39

Ooh you ladies have all been chatty 2day. Well I spoke to soon this morning! I vommed at work 2day! Am already in bed too which is very early for me but urgh I need it x

Sultanajo · 20/06/2013 20:46

Feel for u choco I wont be far behind u....yawn!,Shock

Sultanajo · 20/06/2013 20:48

Toby - blonde and slavic! What a morale booster! That would make me feel like a right scruff (although it doesnt take much these days!!!)Wink

TobyLerone · 20/06/2013 20:56

I know. She's gorgeous!

MrsGSR · 20/06/2013 20:57

Bikey my MIL had no nausea or sickness at all throughout her pregnancies and had 3 healthy boys :) you hear stories of people not knowing they're pregnant for months so I guess most of them probably don't have many symptoms either.

MrsAVB · 20/06/2013 22:32

Night night ladies! sultana FX for tomorrow x

Toothfairy78 · 20/06/2013 23:39

It's just about bedtime but just wanted to share...

So I survived my karate class tonight. Bonus!

Had fun telling my training buddies. Best one was the guy I caught in the car park on the way in;
Me: Hi how you doin'?
Him: Evenin' alright thanks. Y'alright?
Me: yeah good thanks. Pregnant!
Him: er, huh, wot?

Tee hee. Guess you had to be there!

Nighty night!

Sultanajo · 21/06/2013 06:56

Thanks mrsavb! You too - will be thinking of you. Absolutely bricking it this morning! Ekkkk! Please be ok baby Sultana & leap about like you have before. Deep breaths and must not have a meltdown as I walk in the room this time!!! Confused
