New thread as we appear to be talking a fair bit!

Lets hope we've all given birth by the end of this one :-)

I can't believe how quickly time's gone and that some if you have been mums for 3 weeks already! Can't believe Ethan is a wk old already stef! Glad that you're home and that he's doing well with the combo feeding. You sound better too which is great- must've been horrible having to go bk in.

Zed- you sound just like me on the symptom spotting and general 'come on' thoughts! I'm doing all of those things and reading into anything far too much at the moment. Sounds like you did your research better than me tho. I'm wondering if I'd be better off not being in same environment that things went nuts in last time. But want the medical back up there too so can't win really! Do you know what you're having and do you have DS or DD already? How old?

forgetmenots · 26/06/2013 21:54

Exactly what happened to me Steff, along with I'm sad to say a lot of judging from midwives (and a couple who told me I was doing exactly the right thing when the door was closed). So pleased to hear that you and Ethan are home, what a relief. :)

Babybeann · 26/06/2013 22:15

Welcome zed. Also 40+1. Hopefully not long now.

zedzedzed · 26/06/2013 22:20

Am I Going Mad DS is 20 months old...I'm having some form of human baby...hopefully not too evil, surprise flavoured. What about you? I think you can probably still have a better birth experience in the same environment though, maybe just by knowing your own mind and body better and insisting on some positive things...I totally understand wanting the backup there though. Because I was so 'late' last time (+18) and never got the chance to go into labour or have natural contractions, I feel like a first-timer and swing between seeing 'signs' and trying to forget about the whole thing and then trying to induce myself naturally (the usual: sex, walking, bouncing, relaxing, stairs etc). Just sold our house, moving van coming tomorrow (though we've been in new house for months) so maybe my body will let go then!

AmIGoingMad · 26/06/2013 23:21

DS 2.5 and we've been told we're having a girl this time ( still don't think I'll believe it til I have her in my arms tho!) I'm the same in feeling a bit like this is the first time as I didn't start naturally last time so have no clue really as to what will happen. I want her here now but preferably without the labour part!

cupcake78 · 26/06/2013 23:48

Anyone else find they were wide awake and starving before things really started?

After sweep, I've had an evening of strong erratic contractions which stopped when I had a bath and went to bed for some rest. Managed 30mins sleep and have had to get up and have toast I'm that starving! Now wide awake Hmm I haven't slept properly in days. Can't nap but shattered.

It's so unfair! 2 hours sleep last night and nothing to show for it. Now I really am properly fed up. Can't wait for the school run this morning. If anyone says anything about still being here I may very well punch them HmmHmmHmm

Its just the pits isn't it. Last night I was on paracetamol and codeine and contractions were still very strong (60-90 secs about every 7-10mins) but irregular. It's partly my own fault. I want it over with so much and I had such high hopes of it happening Sad.

The consultant made it sound like I'm so ready he was sure it would happen and once it did there would be no messing about. I could cry I feel so flat and disappointed. I'm still only in the first 24hrs and will be induced on sat if this fails but as you know yourself pregnancy is a very long haul at this stage.

I wasn't awake because of the pain. Ive been in constant pain with spd for months, its nothing new. Hence the desperation. I just couldn't sleep. Everything possible kept me up from toilet trips, to hunger (wasn't hungry yesterday at all), to sickness, to nothing, to maybe something, worrying about ds and getting him to and from school and more all topped of by ds at walking in at 5.15.

Dh has decided to take a days holiday so that's nice of him. A day together will make me feel less stressed about being alone and having to get him home from work. He has a long commute. He can also take and collect ds so I don't get arrested for assaultWink

I don't know whether to go back to bed and rest or whether to try and do more physically? I'm restricted as on crutches.

zedzedzed · 27/06/2013 07:23

Yup, I've been necking the paracetamol too, cramps and aches are horridly unproductive and tiring. Off to see the midwife this morning for a checkup, will take all my willpower to refuse exams/sweeps etc. (good cervix news would get me all excited, then devastated when nothing happens again, bad cervix news would just be devastating...so I'd rather not know). The roads near me closed so will have to humph me, bump and boy in buggy 20mins up the hill to catch the bus (groan) but maybe something will click into place on the way....silver lining. Come on baby!

zedzedzed · 27/06/2013 07:26

cupcake God, poor you, so glad you've got company today, you sound truly miserable with it all. x

AmIGoingMad · 27/06/2013 07:29

It really is a rubbish time and the next person that says she'll come when she's ready might well end up with a punch!

I've been starving in the nights too- alternating with feeling really sick. Again was woken and kept awake by strong cramps and backache.

DS is so awesome but finding entertaining him really difficult with how knackered I am so feel like a terrible mum too.

Consultant this morning which may or may not result in first sweep.

Aaargh!

Good luck to the others who have appts today too- I hope they go well and that the doc does/says what you want them to.

Fingers crossed that none of us still waiting have to wait much longer.

Sorry ladies with babies- hopefully us lot left will feel more positive soon!

Babybeann · 27/06/2013 07:52

Good luck today with appointments I hope you get sweeps pep and iam.

Sleept 3 hours last night :( my back is killing me even with paracetamol. Oh well dp promised macdonlds breakfast so not all bad.

cupcake78 · 27/06/2013 08:01

It's nice to know we're all going through the same thing!

Good luck to those of you who are hoping for some baby action soon. I'm told it does happen and were not pregnant forever.

I'm off back to bed while I can.

AmIGoingMad · 27/06/2013 08:11

Ok- my mum just told be the baby'll come when she's ready so I might have to change that punching rule!Grin

cupcake78 · 27/06/2013 08:25

Lol, brilliant. Shall we make it worse by adding 'mum knows best'. Arrgghhhhh!

zedzedzed · 27/06/2013 08:34

Aaaaaaargh! MIL just called here too...her cheery 'have you not had that baby yet' has left me shaking...it's not like I'm not having it ON PURPOSE! But then I got a sweet email from BFF...not asking any questions, just sending love and excitement my way. Aaaaaw. Right, am off to pee in a cup and trudge up a hill to be prodded...hope no old ladies try to comfort me on the way or I fear for their safety! Good luck everyone, fingers crossed for bloody shows, mucus, intense and regular pain and other gross but brilliant signs!

I might have read something on here about it regenerating in sci fi film style?!

Please do not take my word for that- its a vague recollection ( as most recollections are at the moment!) I can't imagine it would rebuild that quickly even if it is true tho so maybe half yesterday and the other half lost now so that things start happening today? Lets think like that and will it to be so!Wink

cupcake78 · 27/06/2013 08:51

I don't think it regenerates that fast. Mucus plugs are big! I mean like a handful worth.

I haven't had any bleeding or any show. Considering I'm 3cm where is it? Do I have to have one?

MrsBri · 27/06/2013 08:54

With regards to a show, I've still not had one. I think I've missed the boat!

Sorry you're all feeling crap. I hope your babies come soon.

Someone asked me about due dates. Amy arrived bang on 40 weeks by our accurate date.

I've still not caught up, sorry. Baby has taken over!
