New thread as we appear to be talking a fair bit!

Lets hope we've all given birth by the end of this one :-)

Definitely sparkle!Smile

And cupcake- only bits and pieces here too which might well just be delightful discharge (tmi sorry!)

Good to hear from you mrsbri! I imagine life if pretty busy at the moment! I hope that you're all doing well!Smile

zedzedzed · 27/06/2013 09:00

You can lose it in bits, over many days/weeks. It can regenerate, but not overnight. Lots of women don't have a show at all, or it's part of their actual labour or just before waters go. It's also possible to lose it so gradually you don't even know it's gone, even if you're dilated quite a bit. So...I guess we don't know anything! I had a big 2 inch white glob in the loo on Monday (TMI) but it was runny like discharge, not jelly or bloody, nothing since...no idea if that was a bit of it or not.

Just catching up - ladies still waiting, sending you lots of good vibes, and old-lady-comment-repelling potion.

Sunbeam - congrats and can I just say my face was ConfusedConfusedConfused You hero, you deserve a medal (or 20), your story read like something out of Guantanamo! Hope you are having lots of lovely snuggles now with little Keir (beautiful name!)

All good here, just enjoying a late morning with DD opening her birthday presents, PILs are picking her up soon to take her out for a bit. She's been occasionally wanting to look at her baby sister but otherwise quite chilled about it all - wonder what the coming days will bring.

I'm feeling a bit more normal today, yesterday I had a bit of a wobble to DH - I'd forgotten how much it hurts to pee with stitches, even accompanied with a jug of water! That and afterpains are really strong, especially when Millie is feeding. And just generally feeling tired and achy...though it's definitely getting better by the hour.

Millie's doing great though, slept most of the day yesterday and then fed all night - like a little boob vampire! So far nipples are holding up to the job, I'm bracing myself for the milk coming in over the next few days, might pick up a cabbage today if we go out, that really helped last time when I thought I was going to burst.

Good luck everyone Smile

learnermummy · 27/06/2013 09:07

Sending positive birthing vibes ladies, it will happen soon Smile.
I never had a show either and Anna was born in her waters too (lucky apparently!).

peppinagiro · 27/06/2013 10:24

Sorry all you ladies also feeling rotten and still pregnant :( Cupcake - I can really sympathise. i've got SPD and it's awful - havent slept properly in months. The next person who tells me to 'enjoy getting plenty of sleep before she arrives' is getting a slap. Last night was rough - got a couple of hours, then gave up and sat downstairs knitting mindlessly so I wouldnt wake DH with me yelping and shuffling. Went back to bed at 8, had just nodded off, and the fecking smoke alarm went off for NO reason. Feel like the world hates me. But at least I dont have another little one to look after in this state - I feel for you ladies who do!

Good luck to everyone begging for sweeps today :) x

pinkbear82 · 27/06/2013 10:47

all good baby arrival vibes being sent.

the milk, poo, wee and change cycle
will soon be with you!! Wink and as for the muslin elf that keeps running off with them just as you need it - if I ever catch up with him there will be trouble!!

Sarah2506 · 27/06/2013 11:04

Ha, we have a muslin elf as well. I leave them at key points- sofa, bed, play gym etc, and yet everytime I come to need one its gone! This is bad news as we are in a major sicky phase at the moment. Lots of sick after every meal. Grimness. Though top moment goes to the 2am nappy change after she soaked through her nappy, her clothes and her sleeping bag. Special times...

pinkbear82 · 27/06/2013 11:09

ha glad it's not just us Sarah!! must be like the whole odd sock back from the washing machine thing. they just vanish. Angry

dd has taken to doing a wee just as you undo her nappy - and it will without doubt catch a corner of vest/sleep suit or be the one time of the day you braved not using a changing mat!

pinkapples · 27/06/2013 11:52

For ladies that have had babies can I ask what your blood/discharge loss is like now? Colour amount etc sorry if tmi

cupcake78 · 27/06/2013 12:01

Ahhhh I love you ladies talking about your new baby adventures SmileSmileSmile. Its so lovely. It helps me remember what fun times are coming and what the true purpose of all this is. Thank you so much. Thanks

I remember the muslin fairy and the sock fairy. We also had the wipe wander with DS. Just at a time you had a breach of numerous layers explosion the wipes would either run out at a critical point of just disappear, lol! The number of times I had his gorgeous little squishy bum under the shower or in the sink instead of even attempting the wipes (he was never very impressed). I learnt to assess the quantity and spread faster and take the most appropriate action. Remember Vests can come off both over heads and over bums ;) You'll all find your own way I'm sure.

Wipe down leather sofa has purposefully been kept for changing disasters. With little boys its the hose pipe effect once fresh air hits.

The next phase the wipes and sofas come into there own is the mystery sticky something phaseWink. At nap time as you settle down with your cuppa you put your hand in something totally unidentified and sticky! This starts around weaning time and can last a while. Our sofa desperately needs replacing but were being brave and hanging on in there till its been wiped off daily a few more years.

Folks who suggest going for a long walk get poked with a crutchGrin

pinkbear82 · 27/06/2013 12:12

haha cupcake - only reason I gave in to keeping the mental dog is I figure he'll be fab at the weaning stage clearing things up! Wink to be fair if I let him have his was he'd probably help in nappy changes too...

pinkapples I'm 3 weeks post birth today and have to say I've had minimal anything for a while - occasional small brownish discharge on liner - only used pads for about a week. but I did loose a lot of blood at the birth so done know if that reflects in things. find the discharge tends to be after having been out and about other wise almost nothing. u ok?

forgetmenots · 27/06/2013 12:29

Pinkapples I'm nearly three weeks post-birth and I have minimal discharge but a couple of nights ago (after being a bit more active) I was (sorry if tmi) gushing red blood again, midwife just told me to take it a bit easy. I had a big blood loss at first - have only avoided a transfusion by promising to take iron tablets at a ridiculous amount. Not sure if that changes things!

Hawkmoth · 27/06/2013 12:49

Hello all. Baby girl Hawkmoth arrived last night at 2123. Home birth, no complications as such but it was not fun.

At MW yesterday she commented on how hard my bump was when examining me, went home with me refusing chips because I felt sick.... NOT normal. Started having irregular but unpleasant contractions from about half one and had the MW out. They were getting stronger but not more regular and I wasn't dilating (was 3-4 for four hours) so she left at half seven.

Almost immediately things started getting worse and I was becoming quite vocal. Called her back about twenty past eight. Was 7-9cm by nine with the second MW in her way. In my own entonox world by this point, very quickly felt the urge to push. Waters went at 2118...EVERYWHERE and baby out five minutes later.

There was nothing inbetween the latent phase and what pretty much amounted to transition. I guess I didn't trust myself when I was feeling real urges to curl up in a ball in the dark, and let the MW go and leave me without gas and air! But even without that it was staggeringly quick.

Was so pleased that DD got to see the birth. She was absolutely over the moon, as we all are. Baby is so pretty, but loud and 8lb11oz... Which is 2lb bigger than my other two! Despite that, I haven't even got a graze, but I feel pretty beaten up... Sore feet, legs, chest, stomach.

Lost quite a lot of blood in the couple of hours afterwards, three very big clots and at one point it was running out of me... But then, at 3am, it was like a tap turned off and now it's just light pink. Good job really, I've never looked so pale in my life.

Anyway, that's long enough for now. Suffice it to say, she's wonderful and things couldn't have worked out better... Was just a bit of a shock!

forgetmenots · 27/06/2013 13:01

Aww hawkmoth congratulations! Welcome to your beautiful girl :)

Babybeann · 27/06/2013 13:11

So new news!!! Consultant appointment went well :) im being induced on saturday at 12. Shocked is not the word. Wanted to avoid induction but the offer of meeting my little girl finally is to hard to resist. They checked me and said my cervix is VERY soft. Anyone no if this will help?
So excited.

Iam and pep- how did you both get on?

Babybeann · 27/06/2013 13:13

Congratulations on your baby girl.

pinkapples · 27/06/2013 13:19

Congrats hawkmoth! Thanks Enjoy baby snuggles Grin

Yea I'm alright no blood but still getting discharge very watery yellow kind of colour just wondered what was normal no blood and nothing on a pad

peppinagiro · 27/06/2013 13:29

Congrats Hawkmoth! Sounds like you did amazingly well.

And good news babybeann! So good to know that the wait's over and you've got a date set :) not long to go! My appointment is in an hour - I'll let you know how it goes.... X

rrreow · 27/06/2013 13:51

Congrats hawkmoth! Saw the pic and she's gorgeous. Proper baby-like rather than newborn-like.

Fingers crossed babybeann, hopefully your body is ready and only needs a little nudge.

Had an appointment for Zephyr this morning at neonatal unit as 3 weeks from birth and he's still a little bit jaundiced. They had to take blood from him, poor thing. Will get results by end of week. Hopefully nothing but I guess best to be sure and get it all checked thoroughly. The doctor we saw was lovely.

Been taking Z everywhere in my Kari-Me sling and I'm loving it. So is he, although he doesn't want the fabric over his head (to provide head support), as he keeps wanting to look around! It's so handy and comfortable, especially on the bus/tube/train and also in the supermarket doing some shopping.

massagegirl · 27/06/2013 15:09

Congratulations new mummies!
We've had a tricky couple of days as she had her to gue tie snipped in tues so hopefully breast feeding will improve and we'll se weight gain then yesterday she got out in harness for click hips, she has her legs positioned like a frog, she's fine it was me that cried. I also didn't realise it means no baths or swimming. We loved out baths together!

learnermummy · 27/06/2013 15:55

Congratulations Hawk SmileSmileSmile

Laughing at the muslin elf! Def been here too. Pram liner in washing machine now and breast feeding cushion cover to follow soon - no muslins in sight to catch the sick!

Slightly concerned here about lack of wet nappies. Have put tissue in nappy now to help work out if she is weeing and have to call hospital later if still no wee. She's feeding very well though. Massagegirl we have a referral for a slightly clicky hip too, did they do a scan or something?

pinkapples · 27/06/2013 15:59

Ewan the dream sheep delivered Grin the heartbeat setting is working a treat Grin

massagegirl · 27/06/2013 16:03

Hi Learner. Yeah it's really straightforward just like the ultrasound scan when pregnant but on their hips , doesn't cause any pain. Most of the time it corrects itself but Thea's hasn't.
