New thread as we appear to be talking a fair bit!

Lets hope we've all given birth by the end of this one :-)

Off to try to sleep now and hoping stef has babe in arms!

Have had one or two cramps feelings but nothing to write home about.

pinkapples · 18/06/2013 23:08

Have to say a day of expressing and my nipples are starting to look and feel normal still tend but much better will express for a couple more days then make the decision but this seems to be working well just need to express every couple of hours Theiah's been a pickle tonight taking 2/3oz every 2 hours ish maybe 2 and a half if I'm lucky but earlier she went 5 hours hmmm not sure what's going on!

Nothing planned for tomorrow just a little walk with hubby and dogs probably Grin then the in laws on Thursday

Can't wait for news on some more tiny babies being born tonight :-) as not heard from a couple of people in a while

MadameJ · 18/06/2013 23:18

Good luck Stef (& anyone else still waiting) im having lots of pains tonight but it seems to be from movement rather than anything else, I thought babies were supposed to become quieter but maybe this baby wasnt listening as his kicks are actually taking my breath away tonight!!
I was hoping for some sleep tonight but its not looking likely again but hey ho at least im getting some practice in for all the night feeds :-)

AlohaMama · 19/06/2013 00:21

Wow Steff I can't believe you are able to update us mid-labour!! Hope you've got your little baby in your arms now.

Sorry for those of you all waiting and bored...won't be long now! I'm impressed by some of the measures some of you are going to to get things going...MrsBri Hmm

SunnyL · 19/06/2013 04:50

Oooh Steff - cant believe you have the presence of mind to post an update from the delivery suite. Thats dedication to the cause!

Have had 4.5hrs sleep tonight and i feel fantastic! Expressed yesterday which meant DH could do a feed and she sleelps wonderfully for him. Gave up completely on the moses basket for now at night. Will continue trying to get her to use it in the daytime - she slept in it for 2 hrs yesterdaydaytime - i have photographic evidence on facebook!

Morning all. MrsBri's been quiet - maybe the 'ingestion' method of home induction was successful!

AmIGoingMad · 19/06/2013 08:39

Hi all! Glad you had a better night sunny!

Still nothing here!

Hope mrsbri is ok?

I'm having problem with the mumsnet app at the moment so might be a bit quieter than normal today. I need to get it fixed!

peppinagiro · 19/06/2013 08:49

Still nothing here either :( also, one of my NCT group just gazumped me on my baby name. Feeling a bit (unreasonably, I know) miffed.

Off to try some acupuncture later this morning to try and kickstart labour. Desperate times...

Can't wait to hear about steff's little bundle! X

All quiet on the steff front so I am hoping she is 'relaxing' and recovering with her lovely little bubba.

Bloody hell, my smugness re breastfeeding is slowly dissipating- hello latch on pain!!! Going to bust out the nipple shields today and see if that helps.

Baxter slept for about 3 and a half hours straight yesterday eve! DH and I were able to eat dinner, watch tv and get into bed and have a cuddle and a conversation! We almost felt normal! And he only woke once in the night but oh my, it was a beast! He was up at one, and finally went to sleep again at 4.30 after 3 nappy changes and 4 pretty much back to back feeds off my poor nips. I think that's why they are so painful. Managed to get another 2 hrs sleep after that though so not feeling too horrendous.

First day on my own today. Having the day five checks at some point so I will get her to check my stitches. I know they weigh him and do the heel prick but is there anything else they do?

Friend is dropping off 2 slings for me today as well which is good as I suspect they will be a lot less of a chore than getting a pram up every time I want to nip out for milk...

Any sign of red? Feel bad for her, I am sure no one meant to upset her, and I certainly feel lucky not to have had a cs. She is prob really finding this hard and could do with the support from this thread more than most! Sad

peppinagiro · 19/06/2013 09:13

Withalittlesparkle - yeah, we're still going to use it. It's not like it's a really close family member or my best friend or anything, and they won't be in the same school or nursery. So I know logically it doesn't matter, but pregnancy hormones sent me into a bit of a tailspin about it. Even the middle name is nearly the same, and the same NN! Feel like I should apologise to her when we announce the name tho, and explain that we've had it picked for months and were definitely not copying her...

learnermummy · 19/06/2013 09:41

AmI my mumsnet app isn't working today either, wonder if there's a problem.

Peppinagiro, I've had 4 acupuncture sessions so far. Am 40 weeks today!

Babybeann · 19/06/2013 09:54

wow steff thats dedication!! hope your enjoying lovely cuddles :)

still nothing here. had some cramping last night so got bouncing while eating a HOT curry and.... nothing ;(

starting to feel i will be pregnant forever.
any movement baby makes is so painful like shes trying to get out.
ds is teeting so waking up a few times a night. poor babe his gums are so sore and he just wants cuddles.

anyone eles due 25th and getting very tired of waiting?

peppinagiro · 19/06/2013 10:11

Babybeann - yep, 25th is my due date too :( so, so, so sick of waiting now. Think it would be easier if I didnt feel so constantly hounded by family and friends texting/calling/'happening' to find themselves at a loss near my house. I know they mean well, want to see if she's on her way and probably think I need the company, but actually I'm grumpy and antisocial, want to be left alone, and they're making me feel like a watched pot! If one more person sends me a jovial 'have you popped yet?' I might actually lose it.

And learnermummy - don't tell me that! Maybe I'll ask her to use extra needles just to be sure the baby really gets the message ;)

learnermummy · 19/06/2013 10:19

Peppinagiro, I've not had an acupuncture induction yet, just the birth prep type, which gets slightly more vigourous each week. It's supposed to make labour easier. Had it last time and although was v late, labour was v quick and easy!

pinkapples · 19/06/2013 10:21

No news is good news on the steff front :-) hopefully far to busy cuddling to update

Exclusively expressing is going well although im thinking I need to get a double pump may speed up the process a little Grin just had a shower and am now sitting down for my 2nd express of the day I think every 2 hours ish should do it very time consuming tho

Not sure how my nipples feel about the whole thing I wonder how long they take to heal hmmm hopefully the expressing isn't doing to much more damage

It does seem like the ladies still pregnant are pulling out all the stops to get their babies out good luck girls hopefully it'll start to work soon Brewanyone?

SunnyL · 19/06/2013 10:23

Mawg - the heel prick and weighing was the major highlights of my 5 day visit. Actually my midwife also gave me some useful tips on breast feeding and generally made DH and me feel like we were the most amazing parents in the world because we'd walked the dog and done some ironing that day.

We started with the sling yesterday and it was amazing. Once I got over the feeling that I was going to drop her because it wasn't done tight enough (it was I was just a panicky mummy) . We went to the post office, walked the dog, cooked the dinner and played on the Internet in ours!

Steffanoid · 19/06/2013 10:23

hey guys, things really slowed off at 9/10 cm, he decided coming out wasn't a good idea, my BP was high and was on a magnesium drip, fluids, had tge epidural cause they said it would be good for my BP, he decided out wasn't a good idea so ended up on hormone drip too! gave me contractions but nothing really, on call doc last night said tge drip being ramped up probably would do nothing and id end up having the emcs,
so we eleccted for it, baby Ethan was born. at 2;37 19th June 2013 weighing 10lb 1oz! hes gorgeous
im sat in a bed with high temp and a bit infected, I blame the 4 drip sites, catheter and multiple spots they took blood from!
have had no sleep so gonna try for some now

learnermummy · 19/06/2013 10:27

Congratulations Steff, sounds like you had a bit of a time of it. Hope you're feeling better soon. Love the name Smile Flowers.

Babybeann · 19/06/2013 10:43

congratulations steff you must be so happy its all over and have a beautiful healthy baby boy.

pep- im with you on the text/calling/drop ins/emails and every other form of comunitation getting very boring. i get a call from my mum everyday at the same time to 'check' im still pregnant!!! considering she has to watch ds whem the time comes you would think she'd no. she calls it her welfair check!!! i call it pissing annoying.
have midwife later going to beg for a sweep!!

Hawkmoth · 19/06/2013 10:43

Congratulations Steff, but sounds like quite an ordeal. Love the name. Hope you're recovering well and going to be looked after.

massagegirl · 19/06/2013 10:47

Congrats steff!
I second the greatness of a sling... Thea slept loads in hers yesterday and meant i could actually do stuff around the house.

peppinagiro · 19/06/2013 10:55

Congratulations Steff! Though so so sorry you got put through such a horrid ordeal. Ethan is a beautiful name and sounds like a lovely chubby little thing! Hope you manage to get some rest.

Babybeann - glad it's not just me :) I genuinely think my parents must suspect I'm going to have the baby and hide her until she's 5 or something. Though they may have a point, as my DH did jokingly say we weren't going to tell them when she was born, and teach her to lie about her bday, just because they were all being so sodding annoying and pestery.

And i had no idea that you could get acupuncture to prep you for labour! What a good idea. Hope it works for you learnermummy x

RueDeWakening · 19/06/2013 12:36

AmI - app now working Smile

Steff - congratulations on baby Ethan Grin

M got weighed this morning, he's 5 weeks tomorrow and now weighs 11lbs 8oz / 5.22 kgs. Little chubber Grin lovely and sunny here so we're spending the day outside when possible.
