New thread as we appear to be talking a fair bit!

Lets hope we've all given birth by the end of this one :-)

Thought I'd share my Shock face with you. Just did the whole bra measurement thing that's on another thread. They're suggesting I need a 34GG!! FRICKING heck. Is there even enough cotton in the world to cover these bad boys? Course it does explain why the 34F in mothercare didn't fit the other day. I came out grumbling that they clearly make small bras in mothercare. No - they don't but my baby makes mahoosive boobs!

pinkbear82 · 19/06/2013 13:05

congrats steff - hope you are now resting up.

just had health visitor round - violet has put back on the weight she lost and more! she's now 6lb11oz so very pleased with her.

Mawgatron · 19/06/2013 13:22

YAY STEFF! Sorry it was so traumatic, wishing you a speedy recovery, but I but meeting your little man takes the edge off how awful you must be feeling Wink

Baxter has been weighed, he only lost 150g so he knkw weighs 7lb 11. He was really bdave for his heel prick, very proud of him. Stitches are fine, no infection and they actually feel a lot better today. Also, she had a look at me getting him on the boob, and it was the way I was getting him on that caused the pain. She showed me how to do it properly and it hurt loads less and he can hopefully get milk more easily and therefore feed for less long each time! Over the moon!

Have managed to do washing, put shopping delivery away, have a shower and eat nice food all on my own! I feel like superwoman!!

Hole you all have as great a day as me!

AmIGoingMad · 19/06/2013 13:47

Well done you stef! So happy that you've now got your gorgeous boy here safe and sound after such an outing too! Love the name too (not at all biased!). Get as much rest as you can now!Smile

Baby and pep- another one due on 25 th here! And another one getting those textsHmm I know people are being nice but its bugging me! Mw said they usually wait til 41 wks for sweep here but as I have consultant appt next wk on the thurs she's not sure if they'll decide to do it then anyway. One friend had her sweep at 40+2 though so not sure there's any rhyme or reason to it! Fingers crossed something happens this week!

Maw it sounds like you've got this motherhood thing sorted! Well done you!Smile

Yey for app working again!Smile

Nice to read about all these babies and mums getting into.the swing of feeding, and weight gain. Well done steff, having just joined the thread I didn't expect to get a live labour update, hope you heal well and get some of the rest you need. Well my sweep went well. Bishops score is 6...and today there has been the kiss of plug/show. Not getting too excited as I know the sweep can merely dislodge it. I will be delighted if I can avoid induction and this is the start of something .

ginauk84 · 19/06/2013 15:24

Sunny - I am up to 34H so I dread to think what I will be after birth!! Don't think will be breast feeding though, my back struggles carrying these around let alone anything bigger!!

Am 39 weeks tomorrow and nothing last night or today. Scared me the other night and think I am quite happy for her to stay inside a bit longer lol.

Wow Steff, congrats bet your glad it's over now though.

pinkapples · 19/06/2013 15:27

Anyone expressing or FF how much are you giving your baby?

MadameJ · 19/06/2013 16:54

Well this baby of mine does not appear to want to come out, he is less engaged than he was at 34 weeks. After having dd 7 weeks early it looks like this one will be waiting for the eviction notice!!

curiousgeorgie · 19/06/2013 16:55

Congrats Steff!! Hope you're feeling better now and having an amazing first day as a mummy Grin

Not doing it yet but with my 1st DD we used to make 6 2.5oz bottles of formula a day and give them every 4 hours... About 6 weeks in I think she started to finish them so we upped it by an ounce and so on..... Hope that helps Smile

pinkapples · 19/06/2013 17:34

Thanks curious that's about what I thought figured its be about 2/3 as that's what the side of the formula boxes say can't be different for breast milk

Babybeann · 19/06/2013 18:10

well mw refused a sweep said she will only do it if im overdue :( she did say have sex but the thought of that makes me want to hide im so sore down there.

iam- i have a consultant appointment next thursay also and hope at 40+2 they will offer me a sweep. if not i will refuse to leave haha

give me my baby!!!!!

Olimoss · 19/06/2013 18:34

Pink - Joe feeds 8 times a day, round 3-hrly, between 80-100ml per feed, expressed milk and formula.

It's quite a lot, but on average you want them to feed between 120-180mls per kilo of body weight from now to bout 3 months. So I'm told.

I think J is just making up for some lost feeding time from when he was in NICU. He seems to have put on nearly 500g in 8 days!

peppinagiro · 19/06/2013 18:48

Babybeann - I was considering going in and asking for a sweep this week too, as my friend was allowed one at 39 weeks. Guess it depends on the hospital. Might just wait it out, since you had no luck. I've also got an appointment next Thursday so will be staging a sit-in unless they give me a sweep there and then!

Had the acupuncture earlier - caused some contractions while the needles were in, but nothing since then :(

ginauk84 · 19/06/2013 18:57

Our MW routinely sweeps at 40+5 but you can ask for one at 40wks, they won't do any earlier than 40.

Oli Theiah is feeding probably 6-8 times a day every 3/4 hrs normally about 3oz so hopefully this is ok just would like my nipples to heal now

learnermummy · 19/06/2013 19:32

Around here I think they offer first timers a sweep at 40 weeks, but non-first timers not til 41 weeks for some reason. Don't know why as my first was on time but second late!
I wouldn't be begging for a sweep too early as it is still an intervention.

AmIGoingMad · 19/06/2013 19:53

So baby and pepp we're due on the same day and have our consultant appts on the same day! Given how different I've noticed that policies are depending on where in the country you are, it'll be interesting to see what they say. Of course it would be much better if we could get going for ourselves before then!Smile

I might need to look into acupuncture .... Smile

learnermummy · 19/06/2013 19:58

Pepp I've not experienced any contractions during acupuncture Hmm - she told me that its the needles in the fleshy bit of your hand that stimulate the oxytocin - perhaps I should sit and press those bits really hard!

pinkbear82 · 19/06/2013 20:14

Learner - acupressure works just as well as acupuncture! So go for it. Might be worth asking your acupuncturist if there's any home techniques you can do as well.

Reflexology can also be a good way of getting things going and relaxing for you too!

forgetmenots · 19/06/2013 20:15

Congrats Steff on baby Ethan :)

Hoping that mrsbri's silence means her unorthodox method of induction worked ;-)

ginauk84 · 19/06/2013 20:37

Withalittlesparkle - I am the same after the contractions I had the other night it sort of hit home what was happening so now am thinking am quite happy she stays there for as long as she wants lol. Plus now she's got her head further down my SPD isn't as bad so am not in much pain, just uncomfiness.

AlohaMama · 19/06/2013 21:57

Congrats Steff - glad the waiting is over for you, but sorry the birth sounds quite hard going. Hope you're all on your way to recovery, and enjoy your newborn snuggles.

AmIGoingMad · 19/06/2013 22:41

Why do I live in a house which only has a downstairs toilet?! Aaargh!!!! So fed up of peeing every two minutes!

Sorry- rant over. As you were......

curiousgeorgie · 20/06/2013 00:21

When your friend actually rings you at 10 past midnight because you haven't replied to a text sent an hour ago and she's sure you're in labour... It's a little bit annoying!!

If I ever actually have this baby I may just keep it to myself Wink
