Happy Birthday Natalie Smile

claphammama · 28/06/2013 11:26

happy birthday Natalie! Thanks it's also my mum's birthday today :-)

Flyer747 · 28/06/2013 11:27

Happy Birthday Natalie, I hope you have a lovely day.

I'm in the pile club too...I have been an exclusive member for years though, had the blighters for donkeys and nothing gets rid of them. Flying makes them worse for me anyway.

Clapham that made me chuckle about DP's half an hour to assemble the changing table and is something my DP would say. I would be smug too :-)

We've just taken delivery this morning of 90 toilet rolls wtf! DP ordered 90 toilet rolls off some silly groupon deal the other week, where do I store 90 toilet rolls?!

claphammama · 28/06/2013 11:32

they are twins flyer!

I have 4 hours to kill outside to give my cleaning lady some space. It's pouring with rain here... can't even walk. What shall I do? Also really hungry. Would it be terrible to go for lunch at 11.30...?? I also really want some dim sum... no dim sum to be found anywhere here... first world problems!

claphammama · 28/06/2013 11:33

90 rolls flyer... dear me!! can you throw some of his treasured stuff to store them instead?

PseudoBadger · 28/06/2013 11:34

Happy birthday Natalie!

Yes thank you Bowlful, everything is fine so far.

Flyer747 · 28/06/2013 11:35

By the time you get to a cafe clapham sit down, order your drink then peruse the menu and order it will be gone 12, live dangerously go for it! :-)

PseudoBadger · 28/06/2013 11:40

I'm considering taking DS for lunch at GBK or something, I'm starving!

claphammama · 28/06/2013 11:44

good point flyer! Living on the edge :-)

ooooo... I want a burger now pseudo... haven't had one for about 6 months. But today looks like a burger day - do much rain and so cold... we have a GBK here too. May have to compensate for the lack of dim sum!

Natalieand · 28/06/2013 11:44

Thanks for the birthday wishes :-)

Piles sounds nasty. I have to say ladies I hope I don't join U in that boat any time soon.

The buggy board has just arrived. How exciting :-)

MrsO27 · 28/06/2013 11:50

Welcome to the piles club roxvox. I'm hoping they go after the birth feminist but maybe not given poor bowlful's experience! It is such a graceful and glamourous time. Vulval varicose veins sound awful legally!
Happy birthday natalie

Flyer747 · 28/06/2013 12:03

I might strategically place them in his office clapham, see how he responds to that, it'll play havoc with his feng Shui and OCD hehe!

MotherOfNations · 28/06/2013 12:15

90 toilet rolls wouldn't last long in this house. I'm convinced the kids eat them. I hate going for a pee in the morning and discovering that the full roll that was there at bedtime is now nothing but a tiny scrap hanging from the inner tube.

JethroTull · 28/06/2013 12:23

90 toilet rolls? That's the sort of thing my husband would do & then expect me to be eternally grateful Grin

Happy Birthday Natalie!

TheFalconsmistress · 28/06/2013 13:03

Happy birthday nat Smile

Good to hear things look positive mon Smile

Away for a facial today its my first one ever its a clarins tri something or other. pregnancy has made my skin dry/oily/ spotty all at the same time so really hoping this helps

Flyer747 · 28/06/2013 13:07

I live with a groupon junkie, we have a house full of useless crap. The worst purchases to date are acupressure mats (still in cellophane) and a steam mop (never used resold on eBay) oh and a weekend break in Scarborough staying at a hotel where the room was like a dungeon and stunk of damp! I just laugh it off these days. :-)

Wickedgirl · 28/06/2013 13:44

Happy birthday Natalie. I hope you have a lovely day x

I have just come back from the doctors because my left knee is swollen. I have prepatellar bursitis (housemaids knee) and because I'm pregnant, it can't be treated. That combined with SPD, insomnia and restless legs means that I feel pretty rubbish right now. I still have 5 weeks left at work which isn't going to help my knee and then it's school holidays and running around after my 3 for 6 weeks.

When I lie down to sleep, I can hear my hear eating really loud in my ears.....is anyone else getting that?

roxvox · 28/06/2013 13:58

Happy Birthday Natalie! I hope you have a lovely day.

Wicked I can often hear my heartbeat pounding around when I am sitting quietly. I queried the midwife on it and she said it was normal.

Right, I have a question on products... I plan to breastfeed, but DH would also like to be able to feed him/her. My questions are;

  • Should I look to pump milk for DH to feed, or use a mix of breast milk and formula?
  • If I am looking to pump milk and then leave it for DH to warm up then should I look to get a milk warming machine of some sort or just put the milk in some hot water to heat it up?

Does anyone have any gadgets they would recommend?

Haylebop12 · 28/06/2013 14:02

Happy birthday natalie my birthday is the day after I break up from work so as I'm counting down to mat leave I'm counting down to my bday too :-)

Sorry to all those suffering with piles. Fortunately I've never experienced them and hope I don't have to.

Ooh flyer that did make me larf! 90 toilet rolls would last about 20 weeks in this house haha.

Had my mw appt this morning. Nothing really to report. Was very quick really as have no concerns. She said as long as my hips and legs are manageable then there's nothing he would do. Fingers crossesd it doesn't get worse though. Bp great and his hb was going like you wouldn't believe.

Also tested out the name on dhs family te weekend. Had a few reactions but it doesn't bother me and he thinks its great as shows its something a little different (for them anyway)

So... Isaac David Joyce he will be :-) glad it's settled as I can really get used to it and already don't see him being called ought else. (Unless its a girl :-/)

Shootingstarsandcomets · 28/06/2013 14:02

Happy birthday natalie
I wish I was at Glastonbury Sad. When I was cool younger we used to go - not DH because he's ways been old and boring- but a group of my friends and we'd have 5 days of fun in a field and not a care in the world. One day I'll take the kids. Just got a text from a friend and they are there now in the rain and it made me sad for lost carefree times. They are camping posh style this year though in a teepee and one of them is 16 weeks pregnant so times are changing.
No piles here yet..........

claphammama · 28/06/2013 15:24

I'm sitting in sainsbury's carpark waiting for a parking space... totally packed. Love London... this is the glamour of my life these days. Even food shopping here is stressful.

falcon beware of facials... once you get hooked on them you will want them all the time... clarins facials are amazing and so gentle on your skin.

roxvox I would go for expressing rather than mixing formula and breast milk. I know that formula is much richer and heavier than breast milk and I heard of babies going off breast milk as they ended up preferring formula and bottle - it's also easier for babies to suck. It depends on how easy expressing is for you though. I had liters and liters of milk (despite my modest boob size - totally unrelated) so found it easy (although I felt like a milking cow sometimes) and I just stored it in the freezer in little plastic bags. Then put entire bags (once defrosted) in hot water for 3-5 minutes and job done. I really don't think you need all the equipment. I don't even own a microwave and it's OK. Everyone is different though so do what works best for you.

Just catching up as I'm still in Greece - but wonderful news MON!

I'm much better than last week, but missed a few days in the sunshine due to the virus Hmm it's so worrying being ill in a strange place, I'll be glad (in some ways!) to get back home.

26 weeks today Grin

roxvox · 28/06/2013 15:45

Thanks clapham, that is really helpful. What about bottle sterilisation? I am not sure if that's a bit of a fad, or if it is something that is a must?

FeministInTraining · 28/06/2013 15:48

Roxvox I'm planning to use sterilising tablets and a basin. Will only have a few bottles for expressing (going to to what Clapham was saying) and I don't even think the giant things will fit in my microwave!

Flyer747 · 28/06/2013 15:52

Glad to hear you are on the mend textbook. Which part of Greece are you in?

I was wondering the same as you roxvox regarding expressing v formula so DP car feed as well.

Clapham is it chucking it down in London too?

I have noticed for a few weeks now that my leg hair and under arm hair isn't growing half as quickly as pre pregnancy. I googled it and old wives tale suggests this could be the sign of a girl. Is anyone else noticing this?

Hayle nice to hear your MW appointment went well :-)

Off out for a meal tonight, a groupon deal lol! DP is pushing the boat out...
