I have a hairy line too Orange Sad

Sanjifair · 28/06/2013 19:44

I am on the Bavarian Blue tonight too, I ordered Becks Blue online from Sainsbury's but they bought the Bavarian, as a substitute. It's not bad, wheatier than the Becks I think. Sainsbury's online are giving a pack of free nappies at the moment by the way, smallest was size 3, but they will soon grow into them!

Shirehobbit · 28/06/2013 19:49

Is it bedtime, yet?

PseudoBadger · 28/06/2013 20:02

Re expressing for DPs - DS never took a bottle from DP....
I did express to do top up feeds to help DS gain weight. I had the Medela Swing pump and used the Medela bottles. I put everything in the dishwasher and then into a microwave steriliser bag.
Mixed feeding with formula does run the risk of damaging your supply (as feeding increases it). A way around this would be to express while your DP does the feed.

roxvox · 28/06/2013 20:13

Thanks for all of the advice re breast feeding etc. I am totally happy with giving baby just breast milk (providing I can produce enough), and am pleased with your comments about the bottle warmer being basically a hot water holder, that's good to know.

Next question - do I remember correctly that the general consensus on here was that the medala harmony was the best manual breast pump?

FeministInTraining · 28/06/2013 20:21

I have a hairy line and a popped out belly button. I'm so sexy, me.

MrsO27 · 28/06/2013 20:50

orange if you're near a John Lewis they should have Icandys on display to try out. We went for the peach 2. It's got a really sturdy feel to it. It's got an adjustable handle for different heights too.
All the bf advice is really useful ladies. I'm really hoping it works for me but going to buy some of those ready to go bottles of formula to have at home just in case. Also going to buy the pump once I know for sure breast feeding is working as the good ones are quite expensive. Have the Medela swing on the list though!
Got some cellular Moses basket blankets in the mothercare sale today down from £10 to £3.99 Smile. Seem to be lots of sales on at the moment.

OrangeBlossom2 · 28/06/2013 20:58

Yes thanks MrsO, going to John Lewis and a specialist pushchair shop I spotted last time I was in Kingston.

TheFalconsmistress · 28/06/2013 21:04

I think im addicted already my skin looks amazing, booked one for next month clapham Grin

I am just getting a Milton box to use sterilising tabs with I think that's all I need to buy im done Smile

claphammama · 28/06/2013 21:36

warned you falcon :-) dermalogica facials are also amazing and also very gentle on your skin

hope you've had a great evening out flyer!

I drink litres of Bavaria... as I don't like sugary drinks. So it's either water or this. I can also manage ginger beer in small quantities if not too sweet. I also find Becks blue has a strange aftertaste... but it's so personal. sanji's description is spot on - Bavaria is wheatier. I've also read that alcohol free beer is actually good for pregnant women as beer has a lot of precious minerals we need - iron, magnesium, potassium, zinc etc... so, once you take alcohol out of it, it's actually quite healthy. Also much lower on sugar than juices

roxvox · 28/06/2013 21:38

Oh, I meant to say - I have a slight linea nigra starting to show both above and below my bellybutton. It's really pale, but definitely there. And yes to the hairy tummy too! It's all soft blonde hair, but something about it amuses me Smile

Flyer747 · 28/06/2013 22:43

Falcon another one here that can highly recommend dermalogica facials, their skin care is lovely. Decelor is another lush facial and skin care range, you'll be an addict soon.

A lovely meal tar clapham, arrived and DP hadn't booked a table and it was full so we had to go elsewhere. Found a lovely authentic italian and had possibly the best italian meal I've had in the uk, marinated anchovy bruschetta followed by spaghetti bolognaise washed down with 1 glass of chianti, 'twas divine.

Work tomorrow boo, on a plus horrible boss is on holiday for 2 weeks :-)

Flyer747 · 28/06/2013 22:48

After all this italian food and yesterday's talk of travelling and yoga I've just downloaded Eat, Pray, Love onto my kindle. Loved the film but haven't read the book.

Slippysnow · 28/06/2013 23:29

Wow! I did it, managed to catch up with a weeks worth of posts. I was away in Portugal having a lovely break.

MON I'm really sorry to hear you've had more bad news after all your hurdles you have faced, but your news is far more positive now. I also know a very healthy and ridiculously huge man ( looks like the beast from the chase) that was born with a hole in the heart.

I actually can't believe I can't remember anything else after all that reading....

I remember something about mil's, I'll be living with mine for a year at least when the baby is born. We live there now, she's lovely and will be a great support, I just hope I won't be too touchy and grumpy with her when the baby is born/ unsettled.

I think that's all I can manage. I'll just join in the conversation as it comes now :)

GTbaby · 29/06/2013 00:42

Roofio. Also saw world war z. Didn't know it was a zombie movie. As if I did I'd never have gone to watch it. But was actually quite good.

Orange. Where is the push chair shop in Kingston? I think I've almost decided to go with oyster max. Converts to a tandem style double. But haven't seen one in RL.

Pseudo - doesn't a dishwasher sterilise? As its so hot?

MrsO off to mothercare I go tomorrow!

If you are set 100% on breast feeding and want a bottle or two for expressed feeds you can get microwaveable self sterilising bottles.
Saves the faff of getting a microwave steriliser. They take up so much room in kitchen.

My manual pump came with a Tupperware style box with a hole in the lid. Fill box with pump and 200ml of water. Place in microwave for 7mins and items are sterilised. So I would assume any microwaveable box would do the trick? May not want to use this as a full time method. But good to know if eg you get stuck at a friends house.

I think that's everything.

PseudoBadger · 29/06/2013 06:03

It depends on the setting you run it at GT, ours only does up to about 70 degrees I think so not sterile. Would be fine for after 6 months thought IMO. Seriously, microwave bags are fab.

Natalieand · 29/06/2013 07:27

I saw the cutest outfit in mother care yesterday but it was £12 and I couldn't decide if I could warrant £12 on something they will probly last 2-3 weeks lol

I will be bottle feeding bump and using the steraliser from dd. I use a cold water steraliser which involves filling it up with water popping two tablets in it and then that water is good to use for 24 hours u just have to soak stuff in it for 15 mins for it to be sterile.

I've atchly got nearly everything now all I really need is
Cot mattress, pay for buggy/carseat/isofix (delivered sept 10th), swaddle blanket. Then its on to hospital bag purchases :-)

HotSoupDumpling · 29/06/2013 08:17

Comtesse, that sounds like a great holiday, I'd love to do that! I've never explored Liverpool, but love love Oxford and York.

I have a linea negra. And a hair line.

OrangeBlossom2 · 29/06/2013 08:30

GT it is called peppermint and is on Thames st opposite jojo Maman bebe. Haven't been in before, just window shopped!

Shirehobbit · 29/06/2013 08:30

I will be on mission baby-kit-and-nursery-fit once term ends, and I've tried not to get too excited about it before then so I could still concentrate on work. It has almost worked Blush
So far, we've inherited a cot, Moses basket, bath, two car seats, a McLaren pushchair and two massive boxes of clothes for 0-12 months. There may also be a Phil'n'Teds pram and co-sleeping cot on the way, so we feel really, really lucky.
We kind of straddle two different groups of friends; those our age or older who have had their kids already and a second group, who are a few years younger and are going through the glut of weddings stage this year.

rubytwosday · 29/06/2013 10:21

Just spent about half an hour catching up on this weeks posts. Glad you have had positive scans/news this week flyer and legally. flyer I have read Eat, Pray, Love twice. Really enjoyed it. May read it again over the summer now you've reminded me. Haven't seen the film as often If I love a book I find the film really disappointing e.g. The whole Time Traveller's Wife fiasco and casting Anne Hathaway as Emma in One Day! Shire I am also saving my baby shopping til the summer hols - only 3 and a bit weeks to go! So glad it's not longer I have been so tired this week that I've literally only worked and slept. I missed the school prom last night because I couldn't pull myself off the sofa. And because I've done nothing all week I have all the housework, food shopping etc to do today!

MrsO27 · 29/06/2013 10:28

Whist I remember, anyone new to this, like me, buying new isofix bases and car seats, make sure to get them test fitted in your car as soon as you can. We've had some issues with some maxi cosi stuff, even though our car is listed on their website/brochure as being compatible. We've got it sorted now and will be sticking with the pebble/family fix base, but in the process we also test fitted the stokke besafe izi go base/seat (also supposedly compatible with our car) and it wasn't at all safe in our car (newborn baby wouldn't be able to lie flat). All the big shops will do test fittings with their demo bases/seats and would highly recommend rather than relying on the manufaturer's compatibility info.

ComtessedeFrouFrou · 29/06/2013 10:39

Well, I am having a little sit down - been buzzing round this morning fold washing, sorting out etc so we're ready to go away tomorrow. DH had gone into work to finish things off. And friends are coming to see us later with a mound of off cast baby stuff, which will be really helpful. She's bringing us a Medela electric pump (not the swing one) and later she's said we can have her BabyBjorn, which will be amazing. Will save us a fortune and, even if we don't get on with all the stuff, at least we haven't had to spend money on it. She's also bunging in a load of girl's clothes - we don't know what we're having, but we'll donate them if Sporcamuss turns out to be a boy.

Plus it means that the house will be tidy when we go away - I hate coming home to an untidy house!

pinkbuttons · 29/06/2013 11:11

just trying to catch up, yesterday was an extra chatty day!
comtesse im originally from york and went to university in oxford and have just moved away. What lovely places to go away and perfect pre baby holiday. Hope you have an amazing time, am extremely jealous Grin

Hope you had a lovely birthday natalie

and I know Im very behind but just wanted to say how pleased and relieved I am for you MoN to finally have some positive news! Your little Eliana really is a little fighter. Hope everything else can calm down soon as well so you can enjoy some of this pregnancy without so much stress x

Also legally so glad to hear all is well with the twins! More great news x

Ticking along here, registered with new midwife and doctor. Have been told I might have to go to the main hospital rather than a community hospital due to having a retained placenta with DS. Going to speak more about it next week but has anyone else had this? or know if my chances of it happening again are increased?

JellyCurls · 29/06/2013 11:29

MoN I stay quite near you and was hearing that mums down here put mars bars in their babies bottles with the warm milk to give babies energy or even put cola in along with the milk. Our HV was telling me this at DS 2yr check, I could cry for the poor wee babies growing up like that.

I still have my linea nigra from ds so it's getting very dark now, no extra hairs though.

Where do you all feel baby kicks? My movements are all very low down but with dd and ds they were all over till baby got too big to move.
