Mon so pleased its not the 22q and I have everything crossed that today you can get some reassuring information from the specialist.

Umlauf that's really sad news about DH grandpa, sorry to hear that.

Orange sympathies going out to you with your back. Get yourself to the dr's and try to get a referral to the physio. I've had a call this morning regarding mine so hoping I will be seen this week, mine is also just my back however I think my former job has just made my back weak with lugging heavy suitcases, trolleys, carts etc then with the extra weight I'm now carrying its just too much for my poor back.

Had a lovely weekend really relaxed, read loads, relaxed in the spa and watched movies with DP and ate shit loads of food too.

Picked up my crib enroute and it's lovely, white wooden John Lewis swinging crib, I think I will get the mamas and papas gingerbread bedding to go on it. We called in at friends on our way to the hotel this weekend, they have a baby boy who was born at 27 weeks he is now 19 weeks old and a lovely little thing. They had the gingerbread theme in their nursery and I loved it.

Hayle 24+1 here too out babies are apparently the size of an aubergine this week, lol. I love when it moves onto a new week to see that vegetable it's going to be this week, last week was an ear of corn! Bizarre.

Natalie and the anterior placenta gang I'm getting strong kicks now and quite a lot...I wish of never moaned when it was less active, it's been going crazy all weekend, probably all the sugar I've been eating/feeding it!

Long Post have a lovely Monday everyone.

roxvox · 24/06/2013 11:21

Morning everyone.

Welcome NewMum, and as others have said, we tend to share everything because it makes us feel less alone!

Orange my lower back is quite bad. It's at its most severe when I get up for middle of the night toilet trips, but generally during the day I can cope with it (although last night I was in a fair bit of pain). It doesn't seem right to have such a sore back when my bump is still quite small, but I guess it is the extra weight and the relaxin etc. I think my next MW appointment is in 2 weeks or so, so will hold off until I see her unless it gets worse.

soupqueen happy birthday for yesterday! I had a look at those bags, picked out one I liked, and then saw the price Blush ... you are very lucky! My DH didn't know what to get me for my birthday in May so gave me money (which he hated doing). Wish I had heard of Storksak before!

We picked up our car seat yesterday (went with the Britax Babysafe SHR II as we are going to go for the Britax Affinity buggy, so this will clip straight in). We also have the cotbed, dresser/changing unit & wardrobe (all of which we got from eBay, saving almost £700 on retail in total). I am really pleased as well because all of the furniture is the Mothercare Summer Oak range, which is the style I fell in love with, so I am pleased to have bought it all on eBay (2 of the pieces are new, one is very good quality but second hand) and saved so much money.

Apart from that we've just got a couple of items of clothing. I am really stuck for what clothes to buy! GTbaby didn't you post up a spreadsheet somewhere with advice for what to buy on it?

Umlauf I am glad you said that because it made me do the maths and I worked out that I am on a 100 day countdown from today!

DH and I have worked out that we have 5 'free' weekends until my maternity leave starts (which I think has sparked him a bit, pleasingly!) so we are trying to plan when to redecorate etc and, as much as I am looking forward to having his family come to stay in a months' time, I cannot wait until I can strip out the spare bedroom and fill it with nappies and build the cotbed/wardrobe/changing unit and make it into a proper nursery!

roxvox · 24/06/2013 11:23

Sorry to add to my mammoth post, but I forgot to say sorry to hear about your DH's Grandad Umlauf, that's horrible news.

Also, I hope you get some good news of an appointment very soon MoN.

roxvox · 24/06/2013 15:51

You're all quiet today. I am desperately seeking distraction from my actual work, and you guys aren't helping me!

Is anyone on here a Wimbledon fan/follower?

cuillereasoupe · 24/06/2013 15:57

Am I the oldest first timer?

Nope, I think that'd be me. 39 in early October (and DP a first-time dad at 47) Grin

cuillereasoupe · 24/06/2013 15:58

FFS, I keep buggering up my italics all over the shop!

Umlauf · 24/06/2013 15:58

Sorry roxvox you can help me procrastinate if you like! I'm on my first day of maternity leave but I was lazy last term and didn't finish writing my reports so I'm back in the office doing them now. They should take 2 hours but I've been to the bar next door twice a walk to the park and coffee with a friend, bought 2 pairs of shoes online and rang some estate agents about flats!!! And now of course, mumsnet!

I`m not normally a fan of Wimbledon but I have nothing else to do now I'm off work so thinking about trying to get interested in it!! When does it start?

MotherOfNations · 24/06/2013 16:04

Not sure about superwoman Umlauf.
The midwife from the fetal medicine unit phoned a while ago and said she'd try to get me an appointment with the cardiologist on Thursday.
I spoke to a mum on the babycentre website who is expecting a baby with the same condition as mine. She said she'd been told that the first operation at 3 days old is for the pulmonary artesia and that the operation for the hole in the heart can be as much as 2 years later but I suppose every case is different.
I've spent this afternoon doing my eldest dd's hair and makeup for her school prom tonight. I'm shocked at how grown up she looks.
I'm meant to be having a scan tomorrow but it coincides with youngest dd's graduation ceremony at nursery and eldests leavers ceremony at church so I think I'll have to cancel.

roxvox · 24/06/2013 16:07

Ha ha Umlauf, sounds as though you have procrastination down to a fine art! Wimbledon started today! It's on BBC1 right now.

roxvox · 24/06/2013 16:14

Sorry, cross post. MoN, that's good that you have found someone to chat to about it all, even if your cases might be very different. That's good that they can get you an appointment on Thursday, I had visions of them coming back and making you wait another couple of weeks.

Was the scan tomorrow a private one, or one linked to the results of lasts weeks scan?

Natalieand · 24/06/2013 16:24

Sorry to hear about your dh grandad umlauf

Nice to hear that u have someone to talk to in a similar situation too u MoN are they due at a similar time to u?

I'm so full of cold and yukkiness horrible that's there's hardly anything we can take!

Can't remember who said they have got for the britax car seat but that's also the one I have ordered :-)

My carseat and buggy r being delivered sept 10th (my edd is 14/10) do u think I'm leaving it a bit late?

Sparkeleigh · 24/06/2013 16:42

Flowers MoN, I have a colleague who has a 5 year old who was born with a very bad heart condition, he's been through a lot of operations but is now a normal wee boy with loads of energy to run around. They really can work miracles with heart conditions. Best wishes for Thursday...

Natalieand do you need the car seat to get home from hospital?

I watched a film with surround sound at the weekend, I'm not sure if baby loved it or hated it but wow, I felt like they were trying to get out to see what they were missing! I'm reading about how the kicks will get stronger and stronger and thinking eeeek!

Natalieand · 24/06/2013 16:53

Yes sparkleigh I will need it as dd car seat is one of the 9m-11year ones so can't use hers x

Sparkeleigh · 24/06/2013 17:01

Oh, Nat that might be a bit tight then? Just in case the baby arrives early or the seat late?

pinkbuttons · 24/06/2013 17:10

So sorry to hear about your DHs grandad umlauf thats awful newsThanks
Also glad that you have someone to talk to that can fully understand and help explain MoN much better than the dreaded google or having to wait for Thursday. Sounds like your super busy in your house as well with graduations and proms!
watching wimbledon here while DH makes ikea furniture roxvox I plan to get fully into it this yr as Im actually going to have time to watch. Smile
Move went well but have had regular braxton hicks since Saturday night whenever I try and do something. Slightly concerned Ive over done it and am now resting as much as possible. Registered with a GP today just incase they get worse, have had a few very uncomfortable ones which has scared me a bit.
Sending sympathy to all those suffering with pelvic girdle pain and for your nasty cold natalie

MotherOfNations · 24/06/2013 17:41

The scan us a follow up related to the results. I tried to cancel and they wouldn't let me. I just said I had no childcare ans they told me just to bring dd with me. I wish I'd told the truth about the graduation ceremony now but I was worried that a nursery graduation would sound likes pathetic excuse.

thethreeblondies · 24/06/2013 17:45

Is there any chance they could change the time MON x

GTbaby · 24/06/2013 18:30

Hello new mum.

Yes I posted a spreadsheet. It's on The FB group. If your not part of FB pm me and I'll email it to you.

I too am full of cold. And have a uti so on antibiotics. Also have a tooth ache so now worried I need a filling replaced.

Shocked at realisation I'm about 6months a long! Shock Starting to feel massive!

OP posts:
MotherOfNations · 24/06/2013 18:34

They said no. I'll just need to keep her off nursery, take her with me then take her into town to buy her a treat to make up for it.

MrsO27 · 24/06/2013 18:35

I'm a Wimbledon fan roxvox. Bit of a shocker with Nadal going out on the first day!
My pram and car seat etc. are down for collection around the same date natalie and my Edd is 23rd October. I would have it now but don't want the warranty starting earlier when it's not being used. I thought i was still being overly cautious getting it for the start of September - DH wanted us to wait another month! I think you should be fine.

roofio87 · 24/06/2013 18:59

hello everyone. hope they can learn a bit more at your scan tomorrow. I'm sure you're dd will understand its importance as she gets older.
I think I've started getting braxton hicks today. very light period pain type feeling just every so often, and bottom of my bump feels quite hard. sound about right?!

OrangeBlossom2 · 24/06/2013 19:15

Sorry to hear about your DHs grandfather umlauf, very sad.

MoN good luck at the scan, I hope it tells the, a bit more information. Your daughter won't remember nursery graduation anyway, it is just a shame for you. Perhaps you could have your own special graduation at home.

Thanks all for advice about back. I didn't manage to get time to call midwife today but I have the number in my bag ready to call when I can grab time.

Sorry GT that you are not well, UTIs are horrible.

OrangeBlossom2 · 24/06/2013 19:15

Ps welcome new mum!

Shirehobbit · 24/06/2013 19:15

Sorry things just aren't being straightforward for you at the moment MoN, but a shared treat sounds nice.

I always enjoy a bit of tennis perving watching. But then I really like watching lots of sports (this year's summer treat are Ashes tickets).

We also went to the cinema yesterday and I was virtually being pumelled by baby in reaction to the surround sound noise. In fact, that was the beginning of a really active period - kept awake last night and it's continued nearly all day today.

emmoB13 · 24/06/2013 19:15

Hi everyone.
Iv been abit of a lurker on this site for a couple of months now but I'm having a bit of a bad day and could do with some support and advice. I'm 25 + 4 with my first baby who's a little boy :) got to see him in 4d yesterday thanks to a birthday present from my mum!
You all seem so lovely and supportive of each other and I like hearing your stories so maybe you can help with mine.
I was diagnosed with the herpes virus 5 years ago and have very regular attacks which usually came after every period so seem to be hormone related. Through this pregnancy iv been having them on a 2 week cycle but just been struggling along with it as I don't want to take anything that's not 100% ok with for baby. So iv been super panicked about delivery. I would love to try a natural birth and always imagined that's what would happen but after lots of research and talking with specialists at the gum clinic is become pretty clear that if I was to be having an attack during labour baby could suffer blindness, problems with his brains and throat etc and worst case scenario meningitis. If this was the case they would offer me an emergency section. So I decided to ask my consultant for an elective one as I no my attacks have been so frequent, the medication they put u on leading up to birth has never stopped my attacks just shortened them, the stress and worry building up to labour I know would be awful and I obviously don't want to take any risks. I saw the consultant today and she was very dismissive of the whole thing, kept telling me the risk was small, would be fine, refered me to the gum clinic (who
I have been seeing for years anyway trying to get some control of it) and told me to collect my information and go back to her in 6 weeks time but it will be treated as a maternity request which can obviously be denied. It made me come away feeling like I'm making a big deal out of nothing but I feel as tho any risk, as small as it might be, it's too much risk and I don't want to be that one person who's baby is unlucky and is affected by this 'small risk' . What would you do in this situation? Iv been crying all afternoon because I don't know what to do now.
Thanks for ready such a long post! .
