I have been eating sushi since day one without any problems - as Pseudo says it's all frozen before they serve it which should kill any nasties. There is a (very small) listeria risk, but no more than eating ham from the deli counter etc. The book Bumpology is really good on stuff like this - it helps to actually assess the extent of the risk, rather than just saying "don't do that".

In other news, DH has just stormed out because I got cross with him - I was on the phone to internet banking people and they wanted some information for security, only he felt the need to tell me I was doing it all wrong while I was trying to answer the woman's questions. I wasn't, he just assumes he always knows better Hmm. So I told him off and now he's taken his pizza out of the oven and taken the car off somewhere.

Oh. He's back. To be honest, I'd rather he pissed off and sulked somewhere else than hung around the house being an arse.

I know I'm snapping at him, but I'm fed up with him watching me struggle with things (like levering myself up out of our low-slung sofa or lugging the shopping in) and then saying, all surprised, but you should have let me help you?! Or he'll listen to me wince bending to get something out of the oven or getting up from a chair at a funny angle but not express any sympathy and just keep talking about something else Hmm

It doesn't help that I'm not sleeping very well (two nights of waking up at 4 am or waking drenched in sweat having had weird dreams) but, honestly, I'd like a bit of consideration.

ComtessedeFrouFrou · 19/06/2013 19:51

On the plus side, I bought the fabric for the curtains in the nursery today. That made me happy Smile

Natalieand · 19/06/2013 20:14

contessede tell me about it! It must be national knob head husband/partner week my dh has had a face like a slapped arse for days and can't stay awake half hour after getting in from work which is causing major arguments between us I sent him a series of texts today when he was at work laying it on the line and he's been home an hour and a half now and isn't asleep yet and just trimmed the horrible bush in the front garden that attracts the bees (my major phobia)

Men have no idea how difficult tiring exhausting everything becomes when being pregnant not just physically but emotionally too!

GTbaby · 19/06/2013 20:23

Omgoodness. Im exhausted. I've got a cold now. Did a pile of ironing. Which has really stretched my tummy. I feel like I felt at 8months lady time Hmm

On the personal grooming topics, I had, coincidentally, planned a bit of an indulgence/self-pampering evening tonight while DH is off playing football.

It turns out I can still reach my toes to do the nails Grin and, as I can't face waxing at the moment, I've experimented with a bit of Veet for my bikini forest line. Have to report the Veet seems to be a god compromise. It took some contortions and use of mirrors, but it's better than before IYKWIM Blush

Pannacotta2013 · 19/06/2013 20:38

Hello everyone! Happy birthday wickedgirl!

I've got 52 days of work left, and that's with having Wednesdays off from 17th July, then Tuesdays and Thursdays off from September... I'm working up to 38 weeks. My commute is very easy (10 minute walk) and I guess I can leave earlier if I need to?

Anyway, I'm currently on holiday in Nice and today we've had a very nice Michelin starred lunch in Eze (a town up the road), and I'm not thinking about work! I really needed a break, work and decorating was really getting too much.

Flyer I'm quite into astrology too (I have a friend who's obsessed with Linda Goodman, she's ace isn't she). I've been feeling a bit apprehensive about a Libra as the ones I know really struggle with expressing their wishes clearly and get so caught up with trying to please everyone. I find it quite frustrating! Ah well, I can only hope baby's rising and moon signs are a little more dynamic.

Smitten I'm glad your new hospital is better for you. Could your pain have been trapped wind? If you don't get that regularly you might not know how surprisingly painful it can be, and it does fit your description. I'm super parpy since being pregnant Blush

I've been really liking mamas and papas maternity clothes, they were fairly reasonable anyway and now have a 50% off sale on. The jeans do all fall down but if they were much tighter in the hips I think they'd cut into my stomach. The under bump ones have belt loops and I've been tying a silk scarf through them to keep them up, that helps. I also got a couple of tankinis (they didn't have bikinis) and they are unexpectedly supportive on the boobs, and I'm currently a size 36g. Their sizing is extremely generous though (I've gone down 1-2 dress sizes). Also new look cropped leggings are good for short ladies to wear under dresses, stops your thighs rubbing.

favellio I've got a numb left thigh, I think it's meralgia - a blocked nerve thing? Should pass after birth apparently.

legally hurrah for your lengthening cervix!

umlauf goodness me that sounds stressful! You seem to have a good attitude about it - and it sounds like you're doing everything you can. These things always come together in the end, even if it's a bit if a hairy journey.

Sorry for the marathon post!

chickieno1 · 19/06/2013 20:42

Happy birthday wicked your day sounds lovely.

Congrats on the job sanji it'll be good to have everything sorted after mat leave.

Good news legally

About grooming, still able to shave which is good as really don't like waxing. Will go for one bikini wax just before baby arrives though.

I bought a bra today! Yay! It was 34C in a specialty maternity and bf shop so fit well. Expensive though :( . Now I have to find a strapless bra........

chickieno1 · 19/06/2013 20:45

Sounds stressful umlauf maybe some friends might help you with packing/unpacking? Sometimes people can surprise you if you ask.

Good you're feeling better orange

OrangeBlossom2 · 19/06/2013 20:46

Smitten might it be Braxton hicks you are feeling? What I am having that I think is BH is a cramps tight feeling that also feels a bit like I need a poo that goes away after a minute or so. But mine is at the bottom of my bump, did you say yours was at the top?

Struggling to get my school reports finished before Friday. At lest DH is working late tonight so no distractions. I am usually so organised but have got really behind with illness and tiredness and have to et them all done by tomorrow night. My coccyx is killing me today as I forgot to sit on my special chair and have been on a small, hard chair for most of the day. It aches to sit and aches even more to stand up. Oh dear.

Sorry those of you having arguments with partners. DH is still being good, although when I was in bed feeling sick and calling for a bin/bucket/bag this week he got cross because he was up a ladder at the time and practically threw it at me, by which time I had already made it to the bathroom, making me jump and then feel even worse. I then cried. Other than that top man points so far.

Smitten1981 · 19/06/2013 20:52

No, it was at the bottom of the bump and did feel like I needed to poo. It did pass my mind that it might be BH. I was thinking 'I can't take hours of this' ha ha.

Flyer747 · 19/06/2013 20:54

Panacotta Linda G is fab isn't she, her write ups are so accurate. Another astrologer I like is Susan Miller her monthly horoscopes are pretty good (although a tad American)

What star sign are you?

Pannacotta2013 · 19/06/2013 21:32

Ooh I've not heard of her. I tend to read more the personality stuff rather than horoscopes, but if she's good maybe I'll check her out? I'm Leo, with Virgo rising and Pisces moon. My dp is Scorpio, and won't let me find out his rising and moon (but I'm sure there's some Taurus in there!)

Flyer747 · 19/06/2013 21:39

That's a good mixture I'm your chart panacotta. I'm pisces sun, sagi rising, cancer moon, cancer in Venus no wonder I cry at the drop of a hat with all the water signs!

Sneakily Ask DP's parents what time he was born so you can find out. My DP has loads of Aquarius in his chart, so cool and detached compared to me!

Enjoy your holiday not envious at all :-)

Pannacotta2013 · 19/06/2013 21:56

Thanks Flyer, yep it does help to balance some of the extremes out - Virgos do my head in normally, I was a bit gutted when I saw that to begin with, but frankly it's probably good to have a bit of earthiness to temper that Leo narcissism and Pisces hippiness! I'm more loving of earth signs in general than I used to be. And nice for you to have that fire in there too. I think it's the elements that I tend to think more about than signs (and never got my head around houses very well yet). I do like Aquarians tho, I have a soft spot for them.

Yep it has occurred to me to ask his mum - have to do it on the down low... And yes holiday is very lovely thanks! :)

GTbaby · 19/06/2013 21:58

Thanks for sharing veet experience shire. I'm considering this option. Extremely swollen down their and SPD won't let me get into waxable positions. Lol.

Sanjifair · 19/06/2013 22:01

Thanks all for the congrats. Hopefully it will all get sorted before I go off, which will be late September.

Legally, good news on the stitch doing its job.

Smitten was it Addenbrookes you moved to? I know someone was talking about moving there on an earlier thread but can't remember if it was you?

Umlauf that sounds like a stressful time to move, hopefully you can plan everything well in advance to make it as stress free as possible.

Clapham nice pic of you and Michel on FB!

Smitten1981 · 19/06/2013 22:15

Yes, I moved to Addenbrooke's. It's a hundred times better than the one I was at before.

I feel much more confident about giving birth there.

chickieno1 · 20/06/2013 04:30

Yes lovely pic clapham

JellyCurls · 20/06/2013 06:48

Great news legally keep those twins baking as long as you can.

Flyer you now have me completely engrossed in my star sign and have googled both your tips. That Linda woman is scarily accurate for me (a very typical chatty Gemini) but your other link confused me. Too many symbols on chart for me, a mere mortal, to fathom out but summary is a Gemini with a Gemini sun and a gemini moon! Must be either really lucky or really unlucky

Shirehobbit · 20/06/2013 07:37

Morning all Smile

We're off to our local NCT annual meeting, tonight. I get nervous in new social situations, as I'm really quite shy in RL. But it's too good an opportunity to miss with the sling library and loads of other groups giving presentations/offers etc, so I need to just deal with my anxiety and get myself there.
I know it's ridiculous, as I'm finally beginning to look pregnant, but I still half expect people to look at me and wonder why we're there! Blush

roofio87 · 20/06/2013 07:38

morning all
long day for me today, doing a pediatric first aid course 9 30-4 then youth club 6-9 30 so will be out the house 8-10!! oh well, off tomorrow and finally going to get to spend some time with dp as we've barely seen each other this week!!
legally so glad the stitch has worked for you Smile

OrangeBlossom2 · 20/06/2013 07:41

Ooh who are you doing the first aid course with? I did paediatric first aid years ago with work but would like to do a refresher based on baby first aid.

MotherOfNations · 20/06/2013 08:01

Having my repeat scan at 12 so I hope little Eliana behaves today. My sister is going to cone along and wait in the waiting room with youngest dd so I've got some support if we do get any bad news but I'm feeling pretty positive. That doesn't mean that you lovely lot can go uncrossing your fingers just yet.

Shootingstarsandcomets · 20/06/2013 08:06

Morning! orange think nct do baby first aid courses or try ringing your local sure start centre, ours run them occasionally.
I've been feeling Braxton hicks! In bed last night and really felt them quite strongly and so much earlier than with ds.
I bought some mamas and papas maternity stuff in the sale, it arrived yesterday and I'm really pleased with it. Have also been buying normally clothes in my normal size to wear for next year!!! Anyone else doing this?! I'm just sick of having clothes I hate and I figure it'll be an incentive to get back to my pre- pregnancy size if I have a wardrobe of unworn lovelies to wear! It's all summer stuff in the sales.

HotSoupDumpling · 20/06/2013 08:19

Legally, glad it's going well!

Umlauf, that sounds super stressy. There must be a solution. Someone here or in RL will think of it! How can your landlord not be flexible at all? Is there any way to offer a slight financial incentive (say slightly increased rent) to stay a few months - would still be cheaper than paying double rent? Or do you really want to go early? Surely s/he can't penalise you for moving early as long as you can find someone to take your place... What's his/her loss in that situation?

Have also hit the sales recently, picked up a few naughty but reduced (so less guilt) cute bits for the baby. Might go again and try and find some stuff for me (maybe breast feeding friendly stuff I can wear in autumn).

I would love sashimi and steak right now. Particularly sushi. But I have researched and Itsu and Yo Sushi (and all the posher sushi restaurants we like to got to) use fresh unfrozen salmon apparently. The tuna is pre-frozen but I'm not a fan. Will check out Wasabi!
