good luck with scan today Mon hope they see.everything well this time
orange I'm doing the full on 12 hour course for work, but I've seen a couple of smaller courses on, one in our local kiddicare store. I think that was 2 hrs at £7 which is good. I am glad I have to do this now anyway (hoping to set up as a childminder after mat leave) as it'll be nice to feel prepared when baby arrives!!

roofio87 · 20/06/2013 08:23

thanks for mentioning that hotsoup have been avoiding sushi anyway, but would have assumed chains like that were probably ok!! still feel sorry for my sis who went to visit my other sister in Tokyo and found out she was pregnant the week before she went!!

PseudoBadger · 20/06/2013 08:38

Just to clarify that a restaurant can ONLY not use frozen fish if they are using farmed salmon which is certified. So there is no risk of parasites, as they will have to be meeting this safety requirement in this way - they can't just merrily litter the population with parasites :o

claphammama · 20/06/2013 08:47

good luck today MoN!

yes, I also did it shooting! I bought a summer dress in sales for next summer. It was a great price and just too nice to leave it there. The dress is my pre-pregnancy size 8 and very unforgiving in the tummy area so not sure how it's going to work... I'm quite confident I can lose the baby weight, much less confident about getting my stomach muscles back... so it's there in the wardrobe to incentivise me after October...

shire don't worry about it. Just think that most people will feel the same and no one can see how you feel inside. The same way you can't see how they feel inside! I bet you will be OK and chatting away after 10min!

I think DP forgave me for enforcing a doctor appointment on him when he heard this morning's news of James Gandolfini's death... I scheduled it for him without asking for next Monday and he's been in the mood with me about it for two days... but I'm so concerned about his weight, blood pressure and the junk I sometimes find out he eats for lunch... he doesn't listen to me so I thought it needed someone else with more credibility to give him a wake up call. Although now I think this news did half of the job already...

JellyCurls · 20/06/2013 08:49

Good luck with scan today MoN

I have just been to canteen for some much needed food. Asked for some toast but was told that they can't make toast as against health and safety to have a toaster in building but if I wanted they could make me a panini. Asked if they could put the bread in the panini grill but got told no as thats cross contamination of food. baffled to say the least! First and last time I go there for breakfast.

roofio87 · 20/06/2013 08:56

Haha jelly h&s really has gone mad!!

claphammama · 20/06/2013 09:00

jelly do they mean your slice of bread would contaminate their toaster...???

BridgetandtheHairyBrigands · 20/06/2013 09:33

Just logging on for my daily post-school run catch-up...

Best of luck with your scan MoN - fingers firmly crossed for you.

Gosh roofio that is a long day! Definitely put your feet up tomorrow.

Jelly that sounds utterly bonkers. I'm sure toast is on the menu in cafes and canteens up and down the land. Is a toaster significantly more of a fire risk than a panini grill?

Shire - would be very interested to hear how you get on with the NCT sling library. I had a structured baby carrier/sling (like the BabyBjorn ones) with DD but didn't get on with it very well (DD soon felt too heavy and it hurt my back) This time I'd like to try on of those stretchy fabric wrap types but - to a novice - they look awfully complicated to put on.

Just a quick question...is anyone else struggling to sleep on their side? All my "morning" sickness has actually been in the evening/night and, whilst the hellish first 16 weeks of vomiting every night is over, I find lying on my side (especially the left) brings back the nausea. I'm feeling guilty I'm putting the baby at risk but sleeping on back (sort of propped up on 2 pillows) is the only position I don't feel sick in.

BridgetandtheHairyBrigands · 20/06/2013 09:45

Jethro - if you are out there, how's your hayfever getting on? I was really suffering yesterday and my eyes (which aren't usually too bad) are very itchy today. Can't wait for some rain to dampen down all the pollen again.

Natalieand · 20/06/2013 09:46

Good luck today MoN hope everything runs smoothly for u!

Ok now this is a little tmi and grosse but I need to ask, is anyone else 'wetting themselves' when they sneeze its happened to me a few times before but this morning I sneezed twice in a row and leaked pee! Seriously I'm only 23+3 I'm gunna need a nappy by 40 weeks at this rate lol

Flyer747 · 20/06/2013 10:04

Jelly, that lady is very good isn't she, I love her work. Genimi sun and moon, so a true gemini. Your moon is your inner person if you wish, how you react emotionally to things. Look at your rising sign (this forms your true personality along with your sun sign) then your Venus sign tells how you are/act in relationships and love, these are the main ones really.

No toast?! How bizarre hey.

It's the 20th which is payday so it can only mean one thing....clothes shopping v excited as my wardrobe is so limited at the moment.

Bridget why is it bad to sleep on your back? I l always sleep on my back.

Also tanning on holiday, this sounds really silly but I was thinking last night (I obviously have too much time on my hands) I won't be able to tan my back, backs of legs etc. I'm going to have a brown front and white back! Trivial I know

Flyer747 · 20/06/2013 10:06

Good Luck MoN I'm sure all will be well and you'll get you see your little girl again. Fx x

Flyer747 · 20/06/2013 10:09

I haven't wet myself Nat but have felt like there was something pressing on my bladder and I had to dash to the toilet. I'm sure it's really common.

BridgetandtheHairyBrigands · 20/06/2013 10:11

Yep Natalie, I'm well and truly in that glamorous club. Unless my badder is empty, when I sneeze I have to make a conscious effort to clench my muscles/cross my legs or without fail I'll leak a bit of wee.

I have started buying tena lights Blush and DD is now very used to me having to quickly nip upstairs to change my knickers after a hayfever sneezing attack. Bless her, she even reminds me to cross my legs when she can see a sneeze brewing.

I even started occasionally wetting myself when I was violently throwing up with morning sickness way back in the first trimester. Truly delightful!

BridgetandtheHairyBrigands · 20/06/2013 10:18

Flyer after the first trimester, as I understand it, you are meant to try and sleep on your left side as your growing uterus presses on some major vein or something when you are on your back.

I think the theory is that lying on your side helps blood flow to the placenta.

claphammama · 20/06/2013 10:20

Same here Natalie, it accompanied a massive sneeze on my way back from work on Monday. I actually found it quite funny for some reason and started laughing. This pregnancy makes me so glamorous and sexy...

your DD sounds so funny Bridget!

Smitten1981 · 20/06/2013 10:29

I've been sleeping on my back and my front. I do notice that the baby kicks a lot more if I'm on my back though, maybe he doesn't like it.

funkky · 20/06/2013 10:34

ooooh Natalie. My most embarrassing pregnancy issue is the pee. Being doing those Pelvic floor exercises with a vengeance but every time i was sick in first trimester, I literally have to rush to take off all underwear as I feel it coming otherwise I wet myself.

My proudest moments are also the days I successfully take everything off before peeing and puking starts Grin.

It happens sometimes with very heavy sneezing but glad the being sick phase is pretty over.

TheFalconsmistress · 20/06/2013 10:35

Im also in the tena club! Definitely not alone nat Grin

I have a scan to check willows oxygen levels today at 2.10 was in hospital yesterday got her hb but she never shifted, she has today though so hopefully all well

Haylebop12 · 20/06/2013 10:42

natalie its happened twice to me Blush I also have to make the effort to cross my legs. I think I was just in the wrong position when it happened yesterday!
Congrats on the job sanji

I'm generally a side sleeper but finds back the most comfortable at the moment...

Got the estate agent coming to do their inspection of he house today so tbh I'm
Glad as its given me a kick up the backside to get every room clean and tidy and not just downstairs! Except, my backs gone today. Bending over is a nightmare but I'm
Sure with a good nights sleep ill be fine tomorrow.

Went to bed at 9pm last night (anyone else finding hte heat exhausting?) and slept until 8 this morning. Tossed and turned a fair bit so don't really feel much better for it!

roxvox · 20/06/2013 10:43

High five to all those in the Tena club... I am wearing a panty liner every day. Part of the reason for that was that I only own black pants (I am strange like that) and I found that I was struggling to work out if a mark was something to worry about (red) or not, so putting a white liner in means I can see more clearly if there are any problems! Bit ridiculous, but it makes me feel more comfortable knowing that I can check. Definitely feeling a bit 'weaker' down there, so it's a good reassurance for that too!

Flyer my sunbathing intention is to dig a hole in the sand to put bump in so I can tan front and back! I have no holiday plans, but just in case I find myself on a hot beach somewhere that is what I visualise doing Smile

As for lying on your back - it supposedly can crush the vena artery or something, which reduces blood flow to your uterus. Lying on your right side is ok, but not as good as lying on your left side which is meant to give the vein the best flow. I read that if you wake up on your back not to worry, but to turn back on to your side.

MotherOfNations · 20/06/2013 10:59

It looks like doing pelvic floor exercises every day since my early teens has pages off then because I've never had any leakage issues and this is my 5th. I suppose that's an added benefit of needing to have c-sections too. The rest of my body is anything but toned and looks like jelly though.

Shootingstarsandcomets · 20/06/2013 11:11

Glad I'm not the only one clapham!
I'm always waking up on my back just can't seem to stay on my left. Must dig out my dream genii pillow, maybe that will help.
No knicker wetting here yet but expect I will be soon! Isn't pregnancy great!!

Flyer747 · 20/06/2013 11:42

Roxvox that made me laugh so much, just envisaging a large hole in the sand and a pregnant lady lying on her front!

In first aid training we were always told if we had an ill pregnant lady to lie her in the recovery position left hand side down, so now I understand why, blood flow. You learn something new everyday.

claphammama · 20/06/2013 12:15

Just enjoyjng a cappuccino in a lovely local cafe before moving on to buy some big pants in M&S. More glamour!

shooting I'm sitting next to a skinny mum with a flat stomach and what looks like a 2-3 months old baby. That's us next year right? :-)

Another relaxing day at home. I actually got signed off for 10 days for stress on Tuesday... had a major meltdown at GP including 10 min of uninterrupted crying. Simply felt I couldn't cope with life so went to see GP out of sheer desperation. She was lovely and assured me it happened quite a bit and perhaps I only needed some breathing space. 2 days of this breathing space and I'm feeling better already. Also ordered 2 books and 2,000 pieces jigsaw puzzle for next week - nothing helps me relax more. Can't wait for them to arrive!
