Starting yet another thread as us chatterboxes have filled up 2 already!

Jucy, I'm so sorry to hear your news. Big hugs, wish there was something more I could say. Flowers

Frouby, if you're feeling crap just fuck the housework off, I do! It'll keep.

I'm scared and excited in equal measures about the scan on Friday. Looking forward to seeing bean and being able to get on with things. But obviously scared of getting bad news like Jucy... 2 days, 1 hour and 50 minutes to go!

My friend has offered to be a birthing partner too. I may well take her up on it, I suspect she'll be more help than OH. And as I'm planning on having a home water birth and OH has already invited his bloody mum (!) think it'll be good to have a friend there. I'm not private at all, have zero issues with people seeing me naked (as my neighbours will tell you) and she's seen me throw up enough times from our party days (though never shit myself to be fair) that I'm not too fussed about that.

Loads of Christmas Eve now! Second scan tomorrow and I bet the due date changes again.... I don't really want to have an eviction date before January as if much prefer baby to arrive in Jan for schooling reasons! Although DH is being headhunter so we may not be in France anyway, which opens up homebitthing possibilities too, possibly involving water. I'm trying not to get too excited.

Tis my birthday today though :) and we're going out for dinner Grin

PistachioTruffle · 12/06/2013 11:46

I've just got the letter from the combined screening, risk of Down's syndrome less than 1 in 50,000.

inky figgy pudding is such a cute nickname for a Christmas bump Grin I've been getting a lot of backache too, it feels like I want to stretch it out but it doesn't improve when I try.

I'm now worried because I weighed myself this morning and haven't put on any weight yet. Surely I should have? It's not as if I'm not eating crap either, mini pistachio seems to have a liking for Jaffa cakes!
Good grief, if I'm not worried about one thing it's another.....I guess this is is for the rest of my life now, if my friends who are already parents are to be believed Wink

PistachioTruffle · 12/06/2013 11:47

Ooh happy birthday Nom! Flowers

Featherbag · 12/06/2013 11:57

And if the gym incident didn't make me feel huge enough, I've just had my first offer of a seat on the bus, from an elderly lady with a walking stick! AND she was in the buggy-bay seats, they NEVER give up those seats, especially if you've got a buggy, as I have!

Featherbag · 12/06/2013 11:58

Pistachio, don't worry and don't weigh yourself! That way lies madness, believe me!

Featherbag · 12/06/2013 12:08

Futterby, how insanely rude! I would say tell them to eff off, but that would only reinforce the stereotype they seem to dump you in Shock

abcdemma · 12/06/2013 12:18

Pistachio I'm the same, in fact I've lost 4lbs since my first midwife appointment and scan (about a month) but appetite comes n goes so it'll prob creep back on... sadly :(
Happy Birthday NomDC :)

Roselau · 12/06/2013 13:04

Pistachio and abc so happy to hear more people with no weight gain.
Every morning i ask hubby if he sees a difference and the answer is no. I tell him it's the only time in his life he's allowed to call me fat so he should be honest, but nada (she says as she's stuffing her face with cheese, crackers and chocolate).

44 hours to go until the scan!

froubylou · 12/06/2013 13:21

Happy Birthday Nom!

If anyone is really worried about not gaining any weight they are welcome to some of the 6lbs I have gained. If you'd like to message me your address I'll get it posted out to you all ASAP.

It consists of Salt and Vinigar Crisps, salad creme on everything, wine gums (my new Nicotene replacement therapy!) and lots of pasta. Could also have the odd bit of cheesecake chucked in too.

Its mainly belly so will enhance those bumps. Cant help with arses though I'm afraid. Mines still the same.

Be warned though, if you accept this one off, no obligation to buy or keep offer you will be inundated for the next 6 months with pregnancy lbs, followed for another 6 months by the 'baby weight' I will be desperate to shift for another 6 months!

No need to say thanks, payments accepted in winegums!

mumoftwoboysS · 12/06/2013 14:31

frouby Lol- I've got an extra 6lbs to give away too! (also mainly salt and vinegar crisps, cheese and salad cream....- oh and cakes!)

pistachio thanks re shorts in Primark- unfortunately there isn't one near me but after hunting round the shops today I came to the conclusion I'd be better off going to Sainsburys and getting some causal stretchy waisted shorts -like the ones you found that aren't maternity but will fit comfortably under the bump. Tried some on in JojoMamanBebe and it was hilarious- they are over the bump ones and as I have no real bump to speak of they didn't even stay up! I said to my mum- maybe they'll sell me the fake bump (a cushion with ties) that they have in the changing room so I can wear that with them!

now feeling like I've jinxed it after reading about you others not buying maternity clothes till after the scan- picked up a few pieces from New Look and H&M.....but only 1 was actually a maternity top, the others just baggy enough to use.

I've worked out I'll be 13+4 when I have my scan- what is the cut off for the nuchal test??

mumoftwoboysS · 12/06/2013 14:32

oh and Happy Birthday too Nom!

mumoftwoboysS · 12/06/2013 14:33

anyone getting quite a bit of pain around the bump- low down? I'm assuming it's stretching pain but ...ouch!

Roselau · 12/06/2013 14:55

mumoftwoboysS I was told the window for the scan is 11 to 13+5 so you should be ok
And don't worry you didn't jinx it. I'm just paranoid like that. I'm trying to not let myself think too much about the next step, until I know that everything is ok. I get overly excited about things, which means that when I get disappointed, I fall really really low... so i'm trying to be cautiously optimistic. let's see how that works out.

Also the past two days I have been getting mild pain down low and sometimes to the left. It's not super painful but enough to make me wonder what the heck is going on down there. all the answers in.... 42 hours!!

frouby LOL will you take smarties in lieu of winegums as I had a mad craving for them and sent hubby to get me 10 packs the other day :) Don't worry, it will catch up to me and I know I will complain soon enough of being a whale. I have never eaten this much in my life.

ccsays · 12/06/2013 17:29

Just marking my place. Got my 12 week scan tomorrow at the same time as you froubylou!

Also been getting a lot of the ?so, was it planned?? pistachio So rude! It's basically like saying to someone ?so, did your contraception fail?? Half tempted to say ?No, it wasn't planned. We tried the hot bath and a bottle of gin but it just kept clinging on for dear life!? followed by a manical laugh.

2Labradors · 12/06/2013 17:32

I think I might be gaining weight for all of you. I managed to put 7lbs on in a 2 week period! The scales had stayed the same prior to that but wow, was a bit of a shock. Am nearly 16 weeks now though, so it is 7lbs in 16 weeks, although technically only took me 2 weeks to gain it lol!

I think baby had a growth spurt, and he/she is addicted to subway, nothing to do with me Grin

Clairea82 · 12/06/2013 18:41

Hi! Mind if I join you?

1st baby due 3rd Dec.

Bit surprised at just how rough I have felt for the last three months and had CVS test at 12 weeks, but results all back ok, feeling a bit better and expecting a little girl :)

merr · 12/06/2013 18:52

Hope your scans go well tomorrow ccsays and frouby (and anyone else thats tomorrow!) can't wait to get through mine on fri so I can hopefully buy some maternity jeans, all my clothes are stretching precariously...

2Labradors, I did the same put on 6 pounds in 2 weeks, seems to have settled down a bit now, also doesnt help that there is a subway at the bottom of my road ;)

MildredH · 12/06/2013 20:15

Am glad other people are having pains/ stretching feelings. I get a bit panicky when they happen. Also still a bit nervous every time I go to the loo in case there's blood. Coming up 16 wks- will I ever feel like I can relax?

I've ummed and ahhed about getting a Doppler.. Could be great for reassurance but I know I'll drive myself beserk if I can't find the heartbeat..

MildredH · 12/06/2013 20:32

Sorry- re-read that. I'm not glad other people having pains.. Just relieved its not just me and hopefully perfectly normal!

b0nker5Mum · 12/06/2013 20:40

Been lurking a bit last few weeks as been busy with the house and holes in floors ceilings and walls!! Lots to do!!

Mildred, I am exactly the same as you... I bought a cheap doppler on amazon for about £25 ish and although the display isn't great we do use it a lot so I'm not sure it was a great idea but its lovely for dp to listen to the heartbeat... And actually if I don't find it I just assume its laying with its back to me.. So i don't panic as much as I thought I would!

Not really sure what I'm saying really! Grin

Glad scans are all going well... I am putting on weight but too scared to see how much!!! Still fit in usual clothes even if the zips don't go up all the way and buttons are nowhere near the holes...!

I'm 14 + 3 and haven't told any of my colleagues except management so I'm sure they must all just think I'm getting fat!!!

AuroraOrtiz · 12/06/2013 21:40

I too am getting some stretching sort of pain. I also keep sneezing because of hayfever and that sometimes really hurts.

Has anyone else started singing Christmas songs?!! Every time I take shower I break into a Christmas song medley!! Or is that just me?!! Have definitely decided to put a positive spin on the whole Christmas birthday thing - I mean at what other time of year is everyone so up for parties and celebrating?!! Plus if it does fall at Christmas, it means I can always spend its birthday together and not have to go to work. Haven't told anyone yet, but am already rehearsing what I'll say to any negativity - no one's dissing my Christmas acrobat!!

MildredH · 12/06/2013 22:08

Thanks bonkers.. I'm definitely going to give it more thought..

I got really excited at the mention of Christmas while we were out with friends last night.. Just knowing- all being well- baby H will be with us!

Argh- to Doppler or not to..

abcdemma · 12/06/2013 23:19

I also get tummy pains when sneezing, which is now quite often due to hayfever season :(
When people mention anything 'next year' I keep thinking "bambino will be -- months old by then!"... scary!
Doppler is a nice idea :)

Mogz · 12/06/2013 23:42

Hi! Joining in, due date is December 2nd, seems like ages away yet scarily close a the same time. This will be baby number 1.
Had two scans, at 9 and 11, waiting on the invite to the 20 week scan and then some extras as I've got hyperemesis, sludgy gallbladder and fatty liver disease and managed to lose over 2 stones between week 4 and now (about 15) ... Oops!
Also getting stupid muscle pain when I sneeze, glad it's not just me! It's a bloody nuisance!

Futterby · 12/06/2013 23:50

Happy birthday Nom :) welcome Mogz!

I get the sneezey pain, I've taken to holding onto my belly whenever I feel one coming on. I look a right tool when I'm walking down the street because I just don't look pregnant, at all, so it just looks like I'm grabbing my chub. So jealous of everyone I know that's preggo right now with lovely wee bumps and I'm just like Envy
