Starting yet another thread as us chatterboxes have filled up 2 already!

Jucy, I'm so sorry to hear your news. Big hugs, wish there was something more I could say. Flowers

Frouby, if you're feeling crap just fuck the housework off, I do! It'll keep.

I'm scared and excited in equal measures about the scan on Friday. Looking forward to seeing bean and being able to get on with things. But obviously scared of getting bad news like Jucy... 2 days, 1 hour and 50 minutes to go!

My friend has offered to be a birthing partner too. I may well take her up on it, I suspect she'll be more help than OH. And as I'm planning on having a home water birth and OH has already invited his bloody mum (!) think it'll be good to have a friend there. I'm not private at all, have zero issues with people seeing me naked (as my neighbours will tell you) and she's seen me throw up enough times from our party days (though never shit myself to be fair) that I'm not too fussed about that.

only 1/2 lb Roselau! I've put on about 6 and my stomach looks like i'm about 4 months pregnant already- and I'm not a big person so it's pretty obvious- I'm beginning to think I got it all wrong and I'm a month further along!!

I don't have any symptoms now apart from the hunger... and tiredness. Secretly worried about mmc too but like you say, they're pretty rare, and we should try and stay positive Smile

6 days till my scan. Why...is...time....going....soooo...slowly???.....

Kerfuffled · 11/06/2013 17:04

I had my scan yesterday. I thought I was 11+4 but scan had me at 13 weeks giving a due date of December 16th. I was another one who was worried about the scan as I had lost all symptoms except for bloody constipation however everything was fine and now I'm just waiting for blood test results. Then I can tell everyone which can't come soon enough as this bump is taking some hiding now!

Roselau · 11/06/2013 17:23

mumoftwoboysS yes I know I should count my blessings. I was not feeling good weeks 5 - 9 and lost 4 pounds which I have gained back. I think it will catch up to me at some point though as I just had 3 massive cookies today...
I'm 125 lbs, 5'6' so as soon as it starts, it will be pretty obvious.

Right, Tuesday is almost done getting me a day closer to scan day!! I literally have a sheet at my desk where I count the hours... LAME I know. 66 hours to go.

mumoftwoboysS · 11/06/2013 18:32

FFS somehow just deleted my message!!...

Kerfuffled great news that you're further along - not so much of an Xmas baby now! Hope I am too but I doubt it!

Roselau I wasn't feeling great either but the only thing that helped the nausea was eating so I reckon I packed the pounds on pretty quickly!

God, can't find a pair of maternity shorts ANYWHERE. The only ones I've found are either denim or smart/city type and I need them for holiday -so need some cool/cotton comfy ones. Why doesn't anyone make them?? The ones i have found are over the bump which will just fall down at present... Grr....

yogafan · 11/06/2013 21:02

mumoftwo - I've seen some shorts for sale at mamanjojobebe, not sure how much they cost, probably lots...

yogafan · 11/06/2013 21:05

Gap do some v. short shorts, not over the bump - £30 though

mumoftwoboysS · 11/06/2013 21:13

thanks for the info - may have to look in Jojo tomorrow. Like the gap ones (tho they all seem a bit on the short side) but just can't bring myself to pay the £4 delivery charge (I think only London stock maternity clothes in store?)

may try New Look too...

AuroraOrtiz · 11/06/2013 21:54

Had scan and all ok - although hard to take a photo as it kept standing on it's head!! Think I've got a little acrobat in there! And due date now at Christmas Eve!!

Roseau - try not to worry too much - having seen the heart beat at 7 weeks means there is a good chance will be ok. I haven't got a bump yet either and was worrying about that, but I think everyone is different.

Soopermum1 · 11/06/2013 22:07

I seem to have transitioned to looking like I've eaten all the pies to having a more defined bump now, thank goodness, was getting fed up just looking fat with a barrel like torso rather than a bump.

Got my baby on board badge at the ready too, but only using it for longer journeys that I know will be really crowded, don't mind a few stops on the underground.

Placed a rather large online order at New Look for maternity clothes so will feed back when I get them. Already have a couple of bits from Red Herring at Debenhams, which are lovely but currently too big.

Still in the 'larger' end of my normal clothes, looking forward to fitting into my new stuff!

AuroraOrtiz · 11/06/2013 22:15

Soopermum - how do you get the baby on board badge? Do you have to apply for it?

Futterby · 11/06/2013 22:31

Don't think they do them in Scotland :(

Futterby · 11/06/2013 22:32

And congrats aurora!

PistachioTruffle · 11/06/2013 23:02

mumoftwo, I got some cotton shorts from primark for £5. They aren't specific maternity wear, but the waistband has a strip of soft elasticated fabric like under bump jeans do. I got a size bigger and they are still a little big, but there is also a draw string so they are adjustable and very comfy.

My mothercare jeggings arrived today too, very comfy and not too long either.

I forgot to say earlier, thanks for the replies about the nosy 'was it planned' questions. I really felt quite uncomfortable, but because it happened quite a few times I wasn't sure if it was now commonplace to ask. I'd start at AIBU thread about it if I was feeling brave Grin

MildredH · 11/06/2013 23:14

Ok, so my big haul of dresses arrived from ASOS.. 9 of them and ONE FITS!!!
Argh.... They're all bleddy humungous. Ordered size 12's- now got to return a few for 10's. I've not been a 10 since getting married 2 yrs ago.
They are nice- just suggest anyone ordering sizes down!

violetbean · 12/06/2013 00:02

Aurora, I got mine by going to Charing Cross tube station and asking at the ticket office. Very quick and didn't have to present any evidence even though bump wasn't showing yet.

DH tried to get hold of one as a surprise birthday present for me a few weeks ago and every tube station he went to they refused, saying they'd run out! Maybe guys aren't allowed to pick them up... can't imagine why not though if they are doing it as a favour / present for a partner!

AuroraOrtiz · 12/06/2013 05:37

Thanks Frouby! Smile

Thanks violet - might try and get one next week - although bit scared I'll get dirty looks when I'm not really showing! That's funny they wouldn't give your guy one - it's not as if he could use it instead!!

AuroraOrtiz · 12/06/2013 05:39

I meant thanks futterby! Argh sorry - I can't look back at the messages when I type - sorry!!

QueenofWhispers · 12/06/2013 06:54

marking my place!

Roselau · 12/06/2013 07:37

thanks aurora. congrats on your scan. hopefully it's a good sign as I'm also due christmas eve :) I know it's stupid but I can't wait to go get maternity clothes. i'm not getting anything right now because a) i dont need it but b) i feel like i'm jixing it. ha.

2 more days to go until scan day!

inkymomma · 12/06/2013 08:00

Finally had my scan on Monday. Was lovely to see little figgy pudding. Good head circumference, good spine, lovely little heartbeat.
13 weeks today. Due 18th December. I guessed the 17th so only a day out. Got my 20 week scan on the 30th July when ill be exactly 20 weeks. I feel like its a boy but my 2 year old thinks its a girl as so does my DH.
Has anyone else been suffering terribly with back ache? Past couple of days at work its felt like my back has been on fire. It only happens at work as I'm on ny feet a lot (work in a care home)
Going to buy some maternity skinny jeans from New look as mine are now digging into my tummy and I pretty much live in skinny jeans and jumpers.
Hope everyone else is ok

froubylou · 12/06/2013 08:25

Morning all

My scan is in 25 hours and 16 mins lol. I really am excited and scared all at once. EEEEK. Once thats done and everything is fine I am going maternity clothes shopping too. I bought some jeggings from matalan weeks ago in a size bigger Inky. Were only a tenner each and so far they are still comfy enoughy to wear to doss around in. May be worth a looksee if they are for work? Cheaper than maternity ones at any rate and will hopefully be useful when I'm going back down through the sizes.

Inky I had backache last week when we mooched round a shopping centre for a couple of hours (looking for clothes that were non maternity but would do for a BBQ) so I would imagine walking lots does hurt, especially if it is for work.

Theres a couple of us now with EDD of christmas eve. I really hope mine comes a week early. Will be so much easier to have DP off for Christmas anyway and no school run with DD to think about with a very newborn. Bet I go over though and the little bugger wants to come 3 Jan or something.

I had really bad heartburn all day yesterday sigh. Suffered terribly with it when I had DD from being about 5 months but if its starting now I'll definatly slow down with the weight gain. Its why I haven't worried too much about what I have eaten so far. With DD for the last 4 months I lived on cornflakes, Yop yoghurt drinks, oranges and chicken soup. Hoping it was just a one off or I'll be on the gaviscon pretty soon!

Just had some toast and can feel it starting again.

Oh and I had the stop smoking midwife back yesterday. She couldn't believe the difference in me lol. Said last week my face looked totally different, puffed up and blotchy and if it hadn't been for the fact I greeted her by name she would have thought it was my younger sister answering yesterday. Did admit to using Piriton (only at night as it does knock me sideways) and the nasal spray has helped a lot.

Do feel like I am being checked up on though. Blew into her little machine to keep her happy and got a non smoker reading (which I think surprised her but not me). Shes going to have a word with one of the consultants at the hospital this week to discuss hayfever remedies and asthma symptoms when stopping smoking (especially in pregnancy). Due to the conversation we had last week and looking back through her old cases she feels pregnant women in particular are being let down by the service as they aren't addressing or helping with some specific and real issues they may face. So that sounds quite a positive outcome to my suffering lol.

DP still struggling to quit though. Hes down from 20 to 10 a day along with an Efag which is better but still not good enough. Not nagging him over it though. Its banned in the house full stop and if he wants a ciggy has to go outside. Which is fine just now but by the time bebo is ready to put in an appearance it will be cold and wet and a good incentive to stop altogether I think.

Housework today. Sigh. Hate housework day. But feel much better once its done and to be honest seem to have more energy this last couple of weeks than before. So not a major chore now. Except the bollocking, bloody ironing lol. Can watch 1bornevery min though on Iplayer whilst I do it. Its like watching a horror film watching whilst PG! Want to get them out of the way now though before I'm tempted to go back to them when the birth is that bit closer!

Futterby · 12/06/2013 10:51

Pistachio, I feel your pain about the "was it planned" question. I'm 18 and due on the 30th of November and every time I tell people I get asked "oh my god was it planned?!" I don't understand why people think it's their business! I've also been asked if I'm "getting rid of it" and if I "know who the father is".

Congrats inky :)

frouby, congrats on the reading! I was on 20 a day when I fell pregnant so I understand how hard it is :)

Featherbag · 12/06/2013 11:08

A woman at the gym's just asked when I'm due and looked HORRIFIED when I said beginning of December!!!

MildredH · 12/06/2013 11:28

Oh god- high five feather for even being at the gym!

I'm currently lying on the sofa eating crumpets with dairylea squished into them!
